New thread for anyone with more than 5 stone/30kg to lose. All very welcome, whichever part of the journey you are on.

We have newbies and those who have got to their targets and lots of us in between at various stages, all supporting each other along the way.

Nothing is off topic and progress photos always welcome, encouraging us all to keep going!

No discount codes please - there is a separate thread for that.

Welcome to another Zebra. lovely progress everyone.
I’m in the overweight category for the first time today. So thrilled.
I've been becalmed for ages, so this feels really good, and I definitely don’t want to go back to obese so hopefully that will keep me on the straight and narrow. Which is also my favourite style of jeans. Im a bit conflicted that the pairs of size 16 I bought last week are already a bit big. 1 pair of my waiting size 14s fit well, but it may be a few weeks before the others are comfortable, including my size 14 Siennas!
I want to post pics but not feeling brave today.
Starting weight 25.4.25 106.6 kg
Current weight 27.10.25 86.5 kg

HumBumBum · 27/10/2025 17:13

V impressive numbers @Icyzebra3i wonder how many of us have SEN kids in this thread?

alltablenochairs · 27/10/2025 20:03

I do. I've posted about my son before a few times but in short he's PDA autistic/undiagnosed ADHD/complex SEMH needs/significant behaviour that challenges and thats just the bits I can remember off the top of my head.

Its not all bad though. He gives the absolute best shoulder rubs in the world and knows exactly where to dig his exceptionally pointy elbows for maximum effect! He also loves nothing better than snuggling up on my bed and sharing an episode of Time Team with me.

m00rfarm · 27/10/2025 20:09

I am working on kilos - and I can lose one kilo in 12 days, then the next kilo in 4 days, the next in 12 days, the next in 4 days etc. The first few months it was much faster, but now (6 months in) it is much slower and at these odd rates. Started at 89 kilos and now at just over 70 kilos. Still got 5-10 kilos to go. Not really losing anything around my waist, but my legs and face are much thinner.

KimTheresPeopleThatAreDying · 27/10/2025 20:18

I’m 4 weeks and 12lb down - I’ve gone from 15st4 to 14st6. Feels like quite a fast rate and I assume it’ll slow down. I’d love to get to 9 stone but realistically I’d be ok with 10.

I weight train and I don’t want to lose too much muscle but equally people banging on about obesity and how awful it is weigh on my mind (no pun intended).

GoingDownDown · 28/10/2025 01:48

A good NSV here, went on holiday this week and the plane seatbelt fit me without needing an extender! Also I just felt much more able to have fun - had to walk down a lot of steps to get to the beach, and then a lot to get back to the hotel - and I’m just not sure I actually could have done it a year ago.

MooBaggage · 28/10/2025 04:46

@Zebracat congratulations on hitting overweight! 😍 I'm hoping to join you in the next couple of months - very exciting!

OP posts:
MooBaggage · 28/10/2025 04:50

Oooh @GoingDownDown that's the NSV I'm aiming for - am going on a plane in 2 weeks' time and will be over 5 1/2 stone lighter than when I went this time last year - I needed a seatbelt extender then, but shouldn't this time...🙏

I also can't wait to just be a bit fitter, for strolls out along the sea front, without the back ache and being all hot and sweaty... also being able to walk without worrying about IBS kicking in - the difference in my quality of life this year is just bonkers!

Thanks for the new thread @MooBaggage I'm just place-marking as away for half term. My weight loss is very slow, but am getting there. SW was 111.1kg in Jan, CW 95.4kg. Am hoping to get to 86kg, then review. Will still be overweight at that point though.

TryingtryingTryingfivetimes · 28/10/2025 07:55

Hi, can I join. I started my weigh loss journey back in May this year. My specialist doctor told me to lose 30kg and offered mounjaro. I took it with open arms.

I'm currently down 18kg. However, last week I was down 20kg, but I had a stomachs bug then. Which meant the weight came back on after recovering. Boo!

It is also half term, which for me means reduced time to exercise. But I enjoy spending time with dc. So it is not a complaint but an accurate reflection on reality.
My elderly aunt also died on Saturday. So I haven't been eating healthy. Finally got a side effect that wasn't feeling cold. Those burps, yuck!

AnneinEdinburgh · 28/10/2025 12:00

@TryingtryingTryingfivetimes well done on the weight loss! Those burps are horrid, Peptobismol should get on top of it if you can bear the taste.

I'm sorry about your aunt!

Enjoy half term and onwards and downwards

xx

Just wanted to share ladies, I had my annual asthma review and the nurse took my latest weight and said how well I was doing. She said that the latest research is showing that 7.5mg can be just as effective as the higher doses and as I am self funding it’s obviously cheaper as well.

Hope it might be helpful for some of you with the increase in prices.

Timetofindme · 29/10/2025 07:34

Im not convinced my scales are working. Ive weighed exactly the same for the last few days - to the same 0.2 of a pound. Doesn't seem right!

I know lots of people like the eufy scales - which ones would you recommend please? Not looking for super fancy wizardry, just something not too pricey and reliable. Thanks!

Timetofindme · 29/10/2025 07:43

Maybe they are working - just made my partner try them and they gave him a different number. But I've now weighed EXACTLY the same since Saturday which has never happened before. Bizarre!

Sam187 · 29/10/2025 17:54

Hey folks, hope the week is going well and we're all losers ☺️

Couple of NSVs for me this week.

  1. I went back to the gym yesterday, for the first time in around 8 months. Whilst I'm not as strong as I was (it'll come), I was far slimmer in the mirror and more comfortable in my own skin than I was at the start of the year.
  1. I've just dug out my winter coat to wear to the football tonight. Was a very pleasant surprise. I know earlier this year I was breathing in for the zip to meet with a hoodie on. Like I probably shouldn't have been wearing it, fully poured into it style. Tonight it's pretty loose, I think a small child could come in it with me. 4lbs away from 3st loss, 3.5lbs til a new stone bracket. Feeling very motivated to keep going.

2nd week on 6.25mg, seems to be agreeing with me so far. And finally, finally, I am at home for the next month and can really focus again! Onwards and downwards ⏬

NewbieMJ · 31/10/2025 07:57

Just checking in to this new thread. Lost my way a bit with posting on the last one.

After staying the same for ages on the scales, I am suddenly having a whoosh. There is no rhyme nor reason to it, as I am eating exactly the same, but I will take it gladly!

I haven't managed my swimming which I am desperate to get back to, but I have, at last, purchased 2kg hand weights and doing a wee routine (7 mins) which someone linked on Mumsnet. Only just started, and struggling a bit, but enjoyable and will get into it and increase the weights as and when I find it easy - haha. IF I find it easy😂

Scales are saying 9 for visceral fat this morning, and I too @MooBaggage join you in the "Standard Muscular" category which made me hoot! Bloody marvellous though and I will take it. Just measured and loads of cms off everywhere (it has been a wee while since I measured), so it's all happening after the scales being stuck for 3 weeks!

SW (2nd Sept 24): 18 stone 11 (263lbs). BMI: 43.8
CW: 12 stone 6 (174 lbs). BMI: 28.6
GW: 10 stone 11 (151lbs).

Fabulous to see everyone's amazing progress. Keeps me motivated. Thank you

@Timetofindme Here is the link to the eufy scales Scales for Body Weight, eufy Smart Bathroom scales C20 with Large TFT Screen, All-in-One Display for Offline Use, Bluetooth, Weighing Scales With 16 Metrics, BMI, Multi-Modes, High Accuracy : Amazon.co.uk: Health & Personal Care

They are down in price just now. £24.99 (I think I paid £30). I'd recommend, for the price they are great.

MooBaggage · 31/10/2025 08:37

Yay @NewbieMJ 😊 Glad you're seeing progress - and your body has been changing all along, despite the numbers not moving.

Am impressed with your visceral fat score - mine's down to 10 now (I think it was 14 when I got the scales in April) and hilariously, I'm clearly teetering between Obese and Standard Muscular as each time I weigh it alternates them 🙄😄 Was back to obese a couple of days ago but am standard muscular today - no weight change at all, just body composition doing its thing!

I haven't lost anything this week - my body is clearly very pleased with itself, having hit the 5 1/2 stone loss mark - it definitely likes to have a pause after each couple of lbs off these days... 🙄

So am hoping next week it will chuck another lb or two into the bonfire - but am getting used to just not being stressed about it - it's not going back on and that's the main thing.

Those of you with fancy scales that Bluetooth and work out your body fat etc... can I ask how it works if you share a set if scales?

DH and I have a set in our ensuite that we both use. It's just a standard set of scales tho.

Do these fancy ones work if there are two people using them? Is there a way to set up multiple profiles and an easy way tell it who's standing on the scales at any given time?

MooBaggage · 31/10/2025 09:36

@AmberLime Yes the Eufy scales a few of us have got lets you set up different profiles for different people - very easy to do! And it recognises who's on the scales based on their weight/body composition.

It's also excellent because it's allowed me to win at life by now being lighter than my dp 😀

I'm saying this having not having bothered to do it myself but the instructions for my relatively basic Salter scales included how to set up profiles and enter height etc details.

Some good NSVs @Sam187 and a nice whoosh @NewbieMJ !

GiveMeWordGames · 31/10/2025 09:41

@MooBaggage Ha! DH weighed himself on mine recently and I am only just a little bit heavier than him now.

MooBaggage · 31/10/2025 09:42

Oh God I think I'm entering a vain phase for the first time in my life - has this happened to anyone else..?!

I've booked an optician's appt for contact lenses next week - gave up wearing them years ago, but now I want to re-try them - and I've got sooooo many more clothes (obvs thank you Vinted) than I've ever had in my life. I literally had 4 x tops last year which were exactly the same, just in 4 different colours. That was it - they were size 26 and covered me up. Now, I've got a trillion different styles and colours and different types of jeans/cords/skirts. I am becoming someone I didn't know I was....

It's fun, but weird...? I used to take the piss out of dp for having 10 x more clothes than I had, but am catching up fast....! My excuse at the moment is that I do need more clothes because my size keeps changing - but I just love having lots of choice and seeing how I look in different things 🙈

OP posts:
GiveMeWordGames · 31/10/2025 09:46

@MooBaggage I am definitely heading in that direction. I'm constantly browsing online stuff, and really wish in person clothes shopping wasn't so shit now. I've forced myself to take a pause from Vinted because I'm getting a bit addicted. I also keep trying on new things I've just bought, or combos of old things which fit again, and poncing about in front of the mirror like Kate bloody Moss.😂

AnneinEdinburgh · 31/10/2025 09:50

I had loads of size 20 clothes most of which didn't fit and I lived in stretchy trousers and Seasalt tunic tops. Now I am a 14/16 I have loads of tops and jeans and heaps of Seasalt tunics to sell. I live in jeans. Haven't tackled the dress and skirt side of things as I don't have any suitable boots/shoes that would work yet. I live in some next black carpenter wide legged jeans in 16. Those got a bit loose so I bought the 14s which do fit but as slightly too tight. I have now been brave and bought the 12s as they were in the sale for £9 and I might (no I am changing that, I will) fit into them one day. Happy days!!!

Onwards and downwards all and have a fabby weekend!

xx

Yes, Renpho scales is another type that has profiles you can set up on the app. Either multiple profiles on one account or you could each have your own account.

I even have profiles for weighing my dogs, although I think it is designed for weighing babies while holding them.
