Happy new year losers.
I did indulge a little over the last couple of weeks - gained about a kilo.

nit worried about the gain but I did have a wake up call eating sugar again. Processed carbs are vicious- once i started with a bit of sugar the craving and “hunger” kicked in. Bit terrified of the end game now.

I’ve put a sign up in my room & noted in my journal “I trust myself”. This came to me while I was dancing yesterday “I trust myself”. It felt new. It felt powerful. I’m going to use it as a manta for January.

I thought you might enjoy this pic. My daughter was given the flowers & the last lily showed up like this one morning. May the kitchen roll effect bless you all bountifully in 2026.

I haven't dared weigh myself yet although I am not desperately worried because I know, if I have gained, I can lose it again once I am back to normal.

@AmberLime I love soup too. I have shared my recipes endlessly, the others will be sick of them!

Faves are sweet potato and red pepper as per photo (apologies for lack of crediting the author, a friend shared the pic with me after I tasted it at her house) and cream of vegetable (2 leeks, 3 carrots, 1/2 swede sweated in butter for 10mins, add 1tblesp flour and cook out, add chicken or veg stock. Cook till all soft, blitz and add a little milk or single cream

I keep making smoked fish chowder with lots of leeks, onions, sweetcorn. Bacon, potatoes. A portion of smoked fish. 2 jelly fish stock pots, milk and cream. Yum!

Breakfast i have rediscovered pancakes made of oats, eggs and banana blized.fried and served with stewed apple and Greek yoghurt. Also yum.

C‘mon @alwaysscared you’ve been recovering from an op, less active and needing to keep your strength up PLUS Christmas food on top, it’s not that bad a gain, don’t be so hard on yourself.

You can regain control this weekend if you go back to the habits that you knew worked before your op. Fluids, focus on protein, cut out the sugar/carbs, a bit of exercise if you can. Don’t worry about your weight and concentrate on getting back into the habits. Best of luck!

UnimaginableWindBird · 02/01/2026 17:00

I've been eating badly all week, and have probably put on weight, but I'm not really worried because I'm also not really enjoying eating this way and am really quite keen on getting back into a routine.

My favourite soups is Northern Irish soup veg soup. In NI you can get packs of soup veg in the shops with everything you need, but nobody sells soup celery in England, so I just use the leafiest bits of normal celery. It's incredibly simple and incredibly healthy and wholesome, but is also utterly delicious.

@HumBumBum thank you, I needed to hear some boosting words! I can get back on this

Lovely weather here today in 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Decided to give my fractured ankle a walk to see how it is healing and start getting some steps in again.

Foot still not lifting as it should and managed tentatively 2k steps before getting distracted looking for my key, tripping and face planking on the pavement outside my house 🤦🏻‍♀️

Bloody nose, think I might have a black eye by morning, burst lip, bruised/grazed chin, swollen knees, badly bruised heels of hands and sore ribs. The good news (got to find some!) teeth still intact, don’t think I’ve broken/fractured anything else and I managed to get myself up and limp the last few steps home before anyone saw me (unless neighbours picked me up on their ring camera 🤦🏻‍♀️) and having a wee feeling sorry for myself cry. 😭

Now decided I need to treat myself to more supportive, stable, trainers. Any suggestions- for pavement walking and working out? Decent sole grip and bonus if they can cope with some rain.

Zebracat · 02/01/2026 21:59

@WeAllHaveWings
that must have been really scary, good footwear is a must . I love my Merrell Moabs. They are a bit pricey , altho I have sometimes found them on offer on Amazon, waterproof and with a good tread.

YellowStockings · 02/01/2026 21:59

@Albusmum my current two favourite soup recipes:

  • Minestrone style: start with soffrito, then add some tomato puree, loads of garlic, some white beans (I use Bold Bean co, they are excellent), and veg stock (I use marigold bouillon). Then once that's all cooked I'd usually add in some small soup pasta to cook, but it would be fine without too - you could add more beans. Then some leafy green veg like kale or cavolo nero towards the end.
  • 'Orange soup': Roast a tray of tomatoes, squash, carrots, onion, garlic, and red pepper in some olive oil, salt, and cumin if you like. When everything is soft, stick in a pan with a can of coconut milk (I use Bioma which is non-UPF) and then top up with some veg stock and give the whole thing a good blend.
UnimaginableWindBird · 02/01/2026 22:03

Oh. I've been eyeing up Merrell Moabs recently. I've just signed up for a walk with a local women's walking group who met up every Sunday, because that way I'll get to bed more active AND hopefully make new friends.

alltablenochairs · 02/01/2026 22:23

My favourite soup recipe is tomato, red lentil and pepper. I dont have a recipe for it as I tend to eyeball it.

1 baking tray tomatoes, chopped. You want the really red ones.
Red peppers, halved and put on a baking tray cut sides down (at least 3)
Red lentils depending on how thick you want it
Bulb garlic chopped in half and stuck on baking tray
Stock
Paprika/smoked paprika
Chilli powder if you like spice
Sugar

Roast the veg in the oven till its blackened. Put the pepper halves in a sandwich bag, seal it and leave them to go cold. Sieve the tomatoes and garlic bulb into a saucepan (this removes skins and seeds). Top the pan up with some veg stock, add lentils (I usually do a small handful), add paprika and chilli to how you like it and either simmer till the lentils are soft or slowcook. Add sugar to taste- this gets rid of the acidic taste of the tomatoes. You can then blend it if you want something entirely smooth or leave it unblended for a bit of texture.

I have in the past dehydrated and ground this to make dried soup which rehydrates instantly with hot water. I've also added a swirl of cream as well on occasion.

hi all, great to read up on you all.
@MooBaggage you look great!!! I hope this doesn’t sound weird but is something I seem to categorise and not sure where this boundary is but - you look completely normal sized now. I mean you look lovely both sizes but in your latest picture.. just average human sized. This is my dream to get there. The size that people wouldn’t know how to describe you by your body. I can’t wait to be ‘normal sized’ as am very much still a larger/round lady.

After some advice/reassurance:
due to winter viruses and Christmas travel I have been micro dosing 5mg approx every 5 days rather than my previous dose of 9mg.
This has meant no side effects and enjoyment of Christmas food and no mishaps while travelling or staying away.

I am a bit worried as have a little stock pile as ordered extra around price hike time getting new deals and ofcourse ordering faster than using as panned it out every 5-6 weeks per 10mg pen.
I had one old 5mg pen from last May. A friend ordered it in error wanting a higher dose so I bought it from her. I then moved up dose so thought I would save for it for weaning down when at target. Check date and it says used by Feb 2026!!!
it’s been in the fridge the whole time so though I would use now, especially as have been microdosing 5mg (30clicks from my 10mg pens). Did the full 5mg (60 clicks) dose today. For some reason I am worried that as date soon up In Feb I shouldn’t have used it. Can anything go wrong or may it just be ineffective if near end date?
If I use it like this it even double up dose to take me near 10mg again slowly, it will still be done by Feb.
Shoukd I be worried? Ok to keep in fridge this length of time?

WeAllHaveWings · 03/01/2026 00:05

@Zebracat Do you have the Merrell Moabs shoes or boots? I have an old pair of walking boots that I used to walk when we still had our dog (can’t remember the make), they are sturdy but very heavy (and needed reproofing), not comfortable to wear all day, are the MM lighter like a trainer?

Any recommendations for supportive trainers for working out?

WeAllHaveWings · 03/01/2026 00:09

If it has been kept refrigerated I’m sure the pen will be fine @Reginaphalangeeeee , they will have tested to ensure safe and effective to expiration date.

Amarajean · 03/01/2026 09:31

Not posted for a while as have had family problems!! Anyway I've been reading all your posts about amazing weight loss a nsv !!
@InfoSecInTheCity you look amazing!! You should be so proud of yourself! @MooBaggage you too look fabulous!!!

I've ate like a pig over Christmas yet somehow managed to loose 3kg!!! I don't know how I've managed that!?! Oh well I'll take it as a win.
Wishing you all a happy new year and may 2026 make your mj journey smooth a,Nd swift

YellowStockings · 03/01/2026 10:06

I’ve just had a notification that my pen is arriving this afternoon, feel so nervous now! I’ve managed to totally freak myself out about serious side effects, even though rationally I’m sure it’ll be ok (and I want the health benefits of losing weight). Any hand holding much appreciated!

Don't forget that it's expiry at the end of Feb, not use before Feb.

Do the usual visual check that it's not cloudy, and I'm sure it is fine.

In the early days of MJ due to various stock issues, pharmacies were often despatching pens with only 5 or 6 weeks to the expiry date.

MooBaggage · 03/01/2026 13:21

@YellowStockings I felt exactly the same way when mine arrived - like, what on earth was I doing and how had it come to this.... Now I'm just massively relieved I found it and gutted it wasn't a year earlier!

If you can wait a day or two, you might want to think about jabbing either tomorrow or Monday, as it's possible you'll get high suppression in the few days after injecting, which then lessens throughout the week. I jab on a Monday so that my appetite is better over the weekend, which works for me as I can then really enjoy meals with my dp. But others prefer the high suppression at the weekend so they don't go astray!

But honestly, I only jab on a Monday because that was the day my first batch arrived and I couldn't wait - it was sheer fluke!

Good luck - let us know when you've done the first one - you will be absolutely fine 😊👍💪❤️

@Reginaphalangeeeee thank you! 😍 Yes, I do now feel like I look like an average 'big' woman, because I'm tall and broad and always will be - but in more of a normal way, rather than someone people go 😮 at! Am still gobsmacked I'm wearing size 14 jeans - any smaller seems impossible right now, but I also know it will happen. If I can end up as a size 12 - 14 (top half 🙄) I'll take that and be thoroughly delighted!

WeAllHaveWings · 03/01/2026 15:28

First Saturday check in of 2026 and a not too bad 2lb gain over Christmas and New Year.

End of week - 78 (5 x 2.5mg, 53 x 3.75mg, 22 x 3mg)
SW - 21st 05lbs BMI 44.8
CW - 11st 13lbs BMI 25.0
Target - Maintain below 12st

Total loss - 9st 6lbs (132lbs), 44.1%

Losses (24H2) 10,2,2,4,1,3,3,3,1,3,2,2,3,3,2,3,3,2,1,4,0,2,3,3,1,4,0 (avg 2.3)
Losses (25H1) 0,3,2,1,3,1,1,0,2,3,3,-1,3,2,2,1,2,2,1,1,0,3,0,1,2,1 (avg 1.6)
Losses (25H2) 3,0,2,0,1,2,1,0,2,0,2,1,1,2,0,0,1,1,1,1,0,1,1,2,0,0 (avg 1.0)
Losses (26H1) -2

Set a 2026 target to stay under 12st - it’s a nice, round number. I’m not sure yet what would be too low, so “below 12st” feels fine for now. Happy around where I am now with comfortable size 14 jeans (I am 5ft 8½in tall).

Focus this year will be moving more and fitness once I am feeling a bit less bruised and can manage a walk without injuring myself! 🙈

Slowrunning · 03/01/2026 16:52

I have just ordered a long padded jacket 😮I would never have worn a padded jacket before as I would have definitely looked like the mitchelin man!
But now I am a size 8 and in desperate need of a thicker coat as I am always freezing.
It's such a silly thing but I am feeling inordinately pleased with myself and I know that you lot will get it.

On another note I am struggling to reign in the snacking after Christmas. I will be glad when all of the food is gone and we can get back to normal service!!

Albusmum · 03/01/2026 17:22

Thanks for the soup ideas - I’ve book marked them all. I can make a nice veggie soup and very often use beans, but I’m getting a bit bored of this now and you have given me some great suggestions.
My nsv today is buying a size 12 skirt in white stuff when I initially tried on the 14 and it was too big! I think there’s an element of vanity sizing, but I was thrilled as I haven’t worn a size 12 for over 30 years.

QueenOfHiraeth · 03/01/2026 17:57

@WeAllHaveWings Sending you some love and hugs. Falling is so scary, especially when already injured, you have my sympathies. I fell earlier this year, had cracked ribs and lots of bruising to the point that one of DS1s friends asked me if I'd taken up cage fighting as a retirement hobby!
@Reginaphalangeeeee Many years of clinical experience here and I can promise you your pen will be fine (obviously as long as properly stored, no cloudiness, etc). Drug companies always err on the side of caution with their dates and most things are safe, effective and useable even for some time after. Good idea to use it now so you aren't tempting fate but I, honestly, wouldn't worry about it

I’m currently eyeing up heated hoodies, hoodies with elements throughout the front and back that can be plugged into a portable power bank. I very much like the idea of wearing a heated blanket 24/7, one company does rechargeable heated socks and gloves too. If I end up with a fully chargeable outfit I’ll have to remember not to wear it when we go away next month, I can’t imagine going through the airport scanners would go well with that many wires running over everything.

Thank you! I decided to just go for it - feeling a bit anxious now but at least it's done. I'm taking Wegovy partly because it's so much cheaper but also because I think a slower start is better for me (I'm prone to health anxiety, I'm hoping I'll get fewer side effects with it).

I'm going to cheat though and do my official start weight / measurements tomorrow morning first thing.
