@GoingincirclesstillI had my wedding ring resized over lockdown when I accepted my great weight. I need to get it shrunk again, but waiting until I’m at goal weight - washing up is the most dangerous habit!

GoingDownDown · 09/12/2025 17:17

SecondCircuit · 09/12/2025 13:18

When changing suppliers, will the old provider be notified of the change?

I can’t see how they could be - you have to confirm they can share your data with your GP, but you don’t give permission for your information to be shared anywhere else.

I too have lost my wedding ring as a result of MJ! Not sure that’s a NSV, maybe a NSL 😂

SecondCircuit · 09/12/2025 17:43

So essentially, you could be ordering from more than one supplier, right?
And there is no regulation about that?

WeAllHaveWings · 09/12/2025 17:55

@SecondCircuitLots of people have ordered from multiple suppliers before and I have never heard of anyone having issues, if there are central databases I doubt providers look at them.

be aware of the issues stockpiles can cause if you are considering buying extra - having pens in wrong strengths, having to stop medication because of health issues/side effects that can happen at any time, reordering after a longer gap and also more than one MN user (which is a tiny subset of WLI users) has had a stockpile and a panic after a fridge breakdown.

This is assuming you are ordering extra for your own use, as it is illegal and would be reckless to buy for others. If it is a Christmas thing vouchers would be better.

Is there a reason you are asking? Would be easier to answer

SecondCircuit · 09/12/2025 18:14

Thank you @maz99 @GoingDownDown @WeAllHaveWings

My question was rather theoretical, although I will look into changing a supplier after New Year as current one isn’t the cheapest.

maz99 · 09/12/2025 22:21

@SecondCircuit Yes, you can order from more than one supplier. The suppliers are regulated which is why they ask the questions they do.

@WeAllHaveWings I currently have a
10mg pen & a 12.5mg pen in the fridge and currently taking a 5mg dose from 7.5mg pen, so shouldn't have a problem with the strengths. I'm going to try and maintain an order cycle of every 6 weeks - trying to keep the cost of a pen as close to £200 or less

WeAllHaveWings · 09/12/2025 22:48

@maz99 I never went above using a 5mg pen in 18 months which is why I see the risks associated with anticipating strength increases. I thought about it a few times, but each time it looked like I needed to increase, I was a bit tentative about side effects, so waited another week or 2 paying attention to macros and minimising UPF/sugar and effects kicked back in without me increasing.

I can absolutely see the temptation of buying ahead before the price increases hit, but any other time it is a risky strategy buying strengths that will possibly never be needed that many have been caught out with before. I could also see me tempted to increase strength when not needed or tempted into using pens too far beyond the in-use period that I am normally personally comfortable with to not “waste” medication.

I hope I don't need to increase my dose, but I bought the higher strength pens to give me the flexibility to take a higher dose than 5mg if I needed to.

This minimises any possible £ lost because the pen will be used regardless.

IMO it's a win win.

Also, I have no problem using the medication beyond the 30 day limit.

Having proof of being prescribed higher strength pens allows me to go to any pharmacy and order the next highest strength if I want to.

@alltablenochairs I was going to post about this anyway and then saw your post.... I take my hat off to anyone who still has kids at home/full-time caring responsibilities and is trying to juggle their own needs - my very elderly poorly cat and very lovely 21 year old son moved in with me, temporarily, 2 weeks ago and my peaceful calm life has been turned upside down! The cat is poo-ing and throwing up everywhere (nearly time for her to make the final trip to the vets, I think 😔) and my son is gorgeous but has just started his first job and kind of needs (well, to me anyway) looking after - I'm doing his lunches, sorting his clothes out, etc.

And in an instant, I have stopped eating properly/sensibly - haven't bought or eaten my spinach/fruit smoothies/greek yoghurt/chicken since they moved in! It's ridiculous - I'm completely thrown by it all and my flat is teeny tiny so suddenly there is chaos everywhere and I'm just feeling this huge need to eat and forget all my good patterns 🙄

I've put on 2lbs and then lost it again in the last fortnight - probably water retention/bit of stress inflammation? I need to get my act together and get back to thinking about my routine - and at least I'm recognising it - but it's made me think of you and others on here who have life challenges all the time and honestly I am in awe ❤

The elderly cat has now gone back to my ex, where she lives and my son is also moving back next week (they were here while my ex's house was being re-wired) - I'll miss them both massively and it's been just so lovely being 'Mum' again - but I'd forgotten how much you forget your own needs when you're looking after everyone else!

So - you are brilliant. That is all. 😍

I couldn’t agree more @MooBaggage .

Mounjaro has been on my mind for the past two years but I could never get round to it before.

A new stressful and demanding job, aging parents, DC’s school, exams, uni choices, fees and anything in between sapped my whole energy. Nothing unusual, just life demands we all face but I honestly did not have an ounce of spare mental power to deal with anything else.

I made a final promise to myself that when DD goes to uni this year I will focus on my health and sort it.
The day after the weekend we took her to uni I sat down and went through the ordering process.

So it’s been 2.5 months since I started MJ and I am very happy with this decision. Yes, rotten luck it’s happened for me after the price hike, but I absolutely would not have had headspace for any of it a year or two ago.

And it is going well, I enjoy reading your weight loss stories and keep losing myself. I have managed to shed nearly 15 kg out of my original 100 and so far 2.5mg is working well for me.

And now off to resume my Christmas party wardrobe planning😁🕺💃🍸

WeAllHaveWings · 10/12/2025 17:49

@SecondCircuit I remember that well! Demanding job, aging widowed lonely parent with serious illnesses, dc’s exams, uni choices, and a big dollop of peri then menopause thrown in to stop me getting any sleep! Not really sure how I survived it all!

Parents now gone, ds in 4th year of uni (Scotland) and very independent, HRT is a work in progress for sleep, but my job has just filled all the gaps. I need to get better at saying no and fulfilling these "own needs" @MooBaggage talks about!

QueenOfHiraeth · 10/12/2025 20:36

I've hit that "roadblock" at an older age. I've retired but, instead of all the free time I thought I'd have, I'm living in chaos helping with grandbabies plus both mine and DH's mothers, widows in their 90s, living independently but increasingly frail. I'm busier now than when I was working and glad I didn't have it all when it was. Hats off to those of you coping with so much!

QueenOfHiraeth · 10/12/2025 20:38

In other news, despite my diet being far worse than usual due to stress and chaos, I have lost a kilo this week which suggests my strategy of 10mg every 5 days to shake things up without really reducing dose might have helped a bit

HumBumBum · 10/12/2025 20:55

That’s a lovely message @MooBaggage thank you!

I’m delighted to report that my stall is over with a whoosh of 2lbs this week which takes me to my pre-Christmas target of 161lbs.

When I started in September 2024 I wouldn’t have admitted to myself how much I needed to lose, told myself it would be nice to lose 3 stone, and I certainly wouldn’t have joined this group because I didn’t think I had it in me to lose 5 stone. But now I’ve lost 6 🥳

I’ve still got a minimum of 11lbs to go (it may go up a bit) but I’m going to try and maintain at this point for 2 weeks to see what happens. I’ll still jab, go to the gym and eat my usual diet but will allow the odd Christmas treat.

SW 245 (BMI 40.77 Level 3 obese)
CW 161 (BMI 26.79 Overweight)
GW 150 (BMI 24.96 Normal)

Most of my weight was lost on 5mg, I’m taking slightly higher than that now from a 7.5mg pen. I plan to taper back down to 2.5mg as soon as the stash runs out or I reach goal (either way it’ll be March 2026). Thanks for listening and being there, you are all wonderful x

alltablenochairs · 10/12/2025 23:26

@MooBaggage thank you for your lovely message and reaching out to me.
I havent always had things go wrong for me. Its only been in the past 5 years or so that things started going even wrong-er than usual. And actually its incremental rather than things going all out at once (sepsis aside!). As with most things in life I like finding solutions.

Declining mobility- I brought a wheelchair
Blocked sink (this morning's fun and games), off I went to B&Q for an unblocking kit, a drain snake and a Youtube video to tell me how to use said snake.
Needed to lose approx 60kg and the likes of slimming world wasnt working- MJ it was.
Wobbly skin where I've lost 40ishkg- I always wear trousers anyway and I cant see myself ever not wearing a cardigan thanks to the bloody permafrost.

On the topic of permafrost I've had to go without my heated blanket the last few days. Turns out my cat isnt very well and she's pretty much taken up residence on my blanket. When we first got her 8 years ago, DH was adamant he didnt want pets (he grew up on a farm). Tonight I caught DH turning the blanket on 'incase she gets cold'. He's also issued instructions that I have to go to the pet shop tomorrow and get her favourite treats to tempt her to eat. Meanwhile I'm looking at heated blankets for the cat because I want mine back. I'm sorry to hear about your puss. They really do occupy a special place in our hearts.

Goingincirclesstill · 12/12/2025 07:00

Found my wedding ring!! Randomly appeared lying on the floor in the kitchen where it certainly hasn't been for the last 6 days!! :)

WeAllHaveWings · 13/12/2025 14:01

2lb off this week and finally done it in one week short of 18 months - a normal BMI ! 😁

Saturday check in - End of week - 76 (5 x 2.5mg, 53 x 3.75mg, 19 x 3mg)

SW - 21st 05lbs BMI 44.8
CW - 11st 11lbs BMI 24.7
TW - 11st 12lbs BMI 24.9 (normal BMI!) - done 🥳

Total loss - 9st 8lbs (134lbs), 44.1%

Losses (24H2) - 10,2,2,4,1,3,3,3,1,3,2,2,3,3,2,3,3,2,1,4,0,2,3,3,1,4,0 (avg 2.3)
Losses (25H1) - 0,3,2,1,3,1,1,0,2,3,3,-1,3,2,2,1,2,2,1,1,0,3,0,1,2,1 (avg 1.6)
Losses (25H2) - 3,0,2,0,1,2,1,0,2,0,2,1,1,2,0,0,1,1,1,1,0,1,1,2 (avg 1.0)

Next steps will be to just stay around this weight until after Christmas/New Year then thinking about a proper maintenance routine/dropping down to 2.5mg or lower.

Glad you found you wedding ring @Goingincirclesstill . I remember when my mum lost her well worn 50+ year old wedding ring for a few years, she thought she had lost it in the garden and we searched that garden for hours looking for it. Then a few months after my dad died it just showed up in the middle of a toilet roll tower in the loo. She swears it wasn't there before and the bottom loo roll wasn't over 5 years old! Some things are just so precious and so happy you got yours back, you can buy little rubber bands/clips to put on the back to keep it safely on until you decide to resize it.

@alltablenochairs hope you cat is doing ok, I remember when our dog was poorly and it is so hard, one of those time you wish they could talk so you knew how they were feeling.

HumBumBum · 13/12/2025 20:30

Yay fabulous @WeAllHaveWings congratulations, what a great Christmas present!!

SecondCircuit · 14/12/2025 05:23

It’s not going well for me this week. Too much festivities.
It’s not temptation as such as MJ keeps me well away from any interest in food but just inability to avoid food and drink if I want to be social and civil.
I’m feeling awful in consequence - bloated, heavy and with acid reflux.

How did you survive last Christmas , those who’ve been on MJ for over a year?

SecondCircuit · 14/12/2025 06:50

That’s a huge loss @WeAllHaveWings , congratulations!

Although I am losing weight steadily I’m still not exactly believing I will ever be noticeably slimmer. My 15kg loss (of 100) is not really noticed yet and I think I will need a solid loss of at least 4 stones for others to register a change in my appearance.

TheSlimmingPumpkin · 14/12/2025 08:13

You will be surprised @SecondCircuit its the kitchen roll concept - nobody notices roll is going down in size and then suddenly they do.

Last Christmas MJ just blocked the food noise and helped me to stop snacking on all the picky bits. My family knew I was dieting and really were not fussed about having loads of chocolate and junk food around. Nobody starved and I didn’t put any weight on over the festive period for the first time in decades. And we did lots of walks.

And I was designated driver so I could avoid alcohol calories

TheSlimmingPumpkin · 14/12/2025 08:17

Congratulations @WeAllHaveWings great achievement 👏🏻. The best Christmas present 🎁🎄is a healthy BMI 👏🏻

MooBaggage · 14/12/2025 08:29

Congratulations @WeAllHaveWings !!! You did it!! 😍💝 That is just bloody brilliant - am so pleased for you 😊

Been a while since I last checked in, the weight loss has definitely slowed down but being on Mounjaro means that I’m still chipping away, a few ounces at a time. I would have given up long ago without it. I’m currently on 12.5 but need to go up a dose, I’ve decided to delay that until after Christmas
SW (14th Feb 2025): 15 st 3lbs
CW: 11 st 8.5 lbs

I’m definitely noticing the kitchen roll effect. A few weeks and approximately 5 lbs ago I bought a selection of size 16 tops, all from the same shop. One was too tight, I looked like an overstuffed sausage. I tried it on the other day and it fits perfectly, it shocked me how normal I looked in it!

Goingincirclesstill · 14/12/2025 10:13

@WeAllHaveWings Thank you the ring tips - so happy! And well done on your wonderful achievement!
