@alltablenochairsI caved and bought a heated throw last night, it’s being delivered tomorrow! Much worse this year than it was last year when I was happy in a T-shirt 🥵 - I am missing that menopause heat since starting HRT this year and if I don’t do something my gas bill will be through the roof!

bakingmad123 · 19/11/2025 14:20

Hi all. So I’m in my fifth week - took my first 5mg dose last night. I was getting really, really disheartened as I’d had no weight loss, no side effects, no change to appetite and was thinking I might be one of the rare resistant ones but then today…. Can’t eat! No side effects, don’t feel ill or sick, but cannot face my lunch at all - hurrah!!!!

A new question from me now though…does this fade throughout the week? And what do you do if you feel like you can’t eat at all for a few days? Protein shakes or something?

MooBaggage · 20/11/2025 09:33

Hi @bakingmad123 Yes I find I have weeks where I feel very affected (and some where I don't!) and on those weeks it does tend to die down after the first 3 or so days after injecting. On the worst days I make sure I drink plenty of water (2 litres minimum, but usually 3) and I'll have a protein shake so I know I've had some calories and protein - I add milled flaxseed to the protein shake (plus some cocoa powder as I like chocolate ones and milk) and that can sometimes do me - not ideal but it's something. Thankfully, days like that are very few and far between.

I also make fruit smoothies most mornings - handful of frozen fruit, some greek yoghurt, milled flaxseed, 2 - 3 dates and milk. Again, gets fibre, protein and calories in me!

@alltablenochairs @WeAllHaveWings Last night I had my Oodie on, was under my heated electric throw, with my electric fire and electric heater both on full blast (I don't have central heating...). I probably burned through £10 in a couple of hours, but couldn't get warm! Am definitely colder this year than last 🙄

Thanks so much - those are some really helpful ideas for any days where I don’t feel I can put solid food in!! I did manage to eat a small meal yesterday around 8pm, but that was the only thing I had all day - so only about 500 calories which isn’t good, so if I feel like that again, I can eat least try a smoothie or shake with some added goodness!

GiveMeWordGames · 20/11/2025 09:53

@bakingmad123 just to echo what @MooBaggage said, having the ingredients for a shake/smoothie on standby is good. I haven't felt like you describe since the early days of 5mg but I would often just whizz up some frozen raspberries/blueberries, sour cherry juice, protein powder, and psyllium husk powder when I did. It was late Spring so the weather was maybe more conducive to the cold smoothie vibe. 😁

And the effects are definitely stronger for me in the first half of the week. I actually messed myself up this week by having some richer than average food on Tuesday evening - my jab day is Monday. Nothing I haven't managed fine before (a delicious lamb rack) but I realise now at the weekend. Had a crappy, gurgly night and the sulphur burps made a reappearance. Yesterday was spent eating very simply (boiled eggs, plain chicken) and I'm fine again today. So, even nearly 8 months in it can catch you out!!

Anyway, somehow that has all bumped me down to 12st 5.5 which means I'm 1.5lbs off a 5 stone loss. Whoop!

Hello, @maz99 as well! My only tip for today is....don't eat lamb rack the day after you jab. 😝You sound like you've made a fantastic start.

InfoSecInTheCity · 20/11/2025 09:59

@bakingmad123 try getting some cup a soups or something along those lines. They don’t give lots of calories but if you use them like hot drink you’ll be getting fluid and substance and you do need more than 500 calories or you’ll start feeling ill soon.

MooBaggage · 20/11/2025 10:10

Well I'm back after my break in the sun (oh to be that warm all the time...) and am really pleased my weight has stayed the same - I was momentarily showing a 2lb gain the morning after I'd flown back, but that went literally within 24 hours and I'm back on the fruit smoothies, lots of water routine today, so am hoping for maybe a 1lb loss by the weekend - it will take me into the BMI 30's, so am itching for it to happen 😊

Hurrah for a holiday maintain @MooBaggage !

SecondCircuit · 20/11/2025 10:39

@bakingmad123 I second what InfoSec said - try to eat more than 500 kcal as that’s not healthy or sustainable.
I’m at the end of my second month on 2.5mg MJ and eating more less the same when I started. There are funny days when I have stronger apetite but I cannot see any pattern; they just do happen.

I envy you @MooBaggage your warm sunnny hols. The one drawback of taking MJ for me is feeling cold. Very cold. DH would be sitting in a Tshirt and I’m wrapped up under blankets, shawls and yesterday even wearing a hat. Ridiculous I know.

So I’m ordering the heated blanket. There’s is no other way as the temperatures are already brutal.

gimmemounjaro · 20/11/2025 11:20

I am at my desk in three layers, heated blanket, scarf and hat, can’t get warm at all today 🥶

Welcome newbies, you sound like you are well on the way. My advice is to try and enjoy this time of getting properly in touch with your body and with your relationship with food. Enjoy that feeling that you are taking charge of your health. This is the last time you will be going through the weight loss process so use it to learn as much as you can. Think of this as a really interesting and stimulating time - you will probably come out of it a different person - you are literally remaking yourself and there is no rush. Maintenance is quite boring in comparison!

maz99 · 20/11/2025 12:21

@ShrankLastWinter
I'm currently rubbish at drinking water - I just can't stomach cold water in the morning and don't like room temperature water

@WeAllHaveWings I think I'm making better choices overall - no daily takeaways or sweets (haribo)... or fizzy drinks. I do eat some dark chocolate (70%) now & then.

What does a protein focused breakfast look like... I have a feeling that it's eggs. I have a weird relationship with eggs... if I'm honest, I don't really like eggs but can eat them fried, omelette or scrambled... but always with baked beans. I can't face eating that every morning
I was eating full fat Greek yoghurt with pumpkin/ sunflower / chia seeds (unsoaked) and 1 tsp of honey, but again not something I can eat every day.

Hi, @GiveMeWordGames Thanks... although I think I have a strong constitution as I'm eating all the foods that people say make them queasy on MJ with no issues - e.g. greasy spoon fry up, steak, lamb, roast pork, sausages, bacon.
Kind of funny though, since the previous place I ordered from (IQ Doctor) advised me to eat low fat because of having no gallbladder (removed in 2013) when I was ordering the 7.5mg pen. But I've never had any issues regarding eating fatty foods since I had it removed.

Thanks for the advice @gimmemounjaro

So... took my 3rd 5mg jab this morning and did my weekly weigh in - I'm down 0.8kg / 1.8lbs which surprised me because I've not been to the gym since last week Tuesday - and guess I kind of rely on the exercise calories to improve my deficit. I haven't been able to exercise this week, because I was advised not to for a week after having a steroid injection for carpal tunnel.

Any recommendations for electric throws? The change in temp has me wanting to put the heating on for most of the day.

WeAllHaveWings · 20/11/2025 12:34

Under my new heated blanket today too and loving it up to my waist and covering my feet/legs which is the worst bit, but top half is still chilly so have a shawl on too. @gimmemounjaro have you also tried fingerless gloves when working (or just missed them off the list 🤣), I find having them on makes me feel a little bit more comfortable.

MooBaggage · 20/11/2025 12:42

I have to say, my Mum usually drives me to distraction, but she bought me (at my request, having seen hers!) a teddy fleece jacket thingy from Primark - it was £9.99 and they have them in black, so I can get away with wearing it for Teams meetings at home - and it's the warmest thing I think I've ever worn! So I've got my heated blanket around my bottom half and the black jacket on and am finally toasty 😀

Don't go anywhere near naked flames though if you get one - I reckon it'll go up in smoke at the sight of a candle....

I do have fingerless gloves @WeAllHaveWings but they annoy me when writing, perhaps ridiculously sensitive but I find the pen slips around the bit between thumb and forefinger, and also my fingers feel too far apart 😂
So not right for today’s tasks unfortunately! I can type ok in them though and do use them on those days.

@maz99 I have a Dreamcatcher heated throw and it’s fine. No longer available but I think this is a newer version of the same

It's this one - but they definitely do black too - and only £9 (my Mum owes me £1! 😃). It is warm as warm....

@maz99 my breakfasts tend to be generally egg and bacon based, and/or a protein yoghurt with some almonds/seeds on top (not ideal but a compromise as greek or plain yoghurt gives me reflux while some flavoured don't) . And a glass of kefir.

I see many do greek yoghurt, yoghurt or cottage cheese based breakfasts (wish I could as great way to get protein in). You can keep it interesting mixing them up with different toppings - fruit, a decent granola, flaked almonds or using in a smoothie (try for not too much sugar from fruit). Try asking ChatGPT for ways to use them in different ways - to make pancakes for example

Mine are more like fingerless mittens so the fingers don't feel as far apart (wont fix thumb/forefinger issue. I asked ds for them for Christmas last year in hot pink! Just seen they have a sale on, might ask him for another colour this year!

When working can take thumb out and use as wrist warmers instead

I was just thinking of buying fingerless gloves because my hands were so cold this morning

Thanks @gimmemounjaro

gimmemounjaro · 20/11/2025 12:56

I don’t often eat breakfast, but getting in the swing of having it now, eating little and often in an attempt to ditch omeprazole. I like a slice of (wholemeal or seedy sourdough) toast with peanut butter, or hummus (preferably the jalapeño one, maybe with cottage cheese too), or marmite and avocado, or maybe if I’ve got my arse in gear to have all the ingredients available at the same time, spread with soft goats cheese, then rocket and smoked salmon or Parma ham on top. I do like eggs but rarely can be bothered getting a pan out.

DivaRainbow · 20/11/2025 13:05

Hey, just wondering if I can join.
I took my first injection of wegovy on Tuesday.

Im currently 84kg but I'm only 4ft11 so this is huge on me.
I want to get down to 64kg.

So far had no side effects apart from bloat, I'm very bloated.

Trying to up my water as much as possible

GiveMeWordGames · 20/11/2025 13:11

@maz99 for breakfast I alternate between:

5% Fage greek Yoghurt with a small amount of fruit (in summer it was usually strawbs, now it's defrosted frozen raspbs/blueberries/cherries) and nut-heavy low sugar granola

Eggs: scrambled or boiled with a small slice of sourdough

VERY Occasionally just wholemeal or sourdough toast and spreads in which case peanut butter (PipnNut Ultimate Dark Roasted) will feature heavily.

I did try M&S's protein bagels once but they were somewhat claggy and, well, just not bagels at all really.

As you can tell, while I've reduced carbs - toast used to be my breakfast almost every day - I'm definitely not into keto at all.

gimmemounjaro · 20/11/2025 13:19

Ooh they look v nice and warm @WeAllHaveWings and such lovely colours. I thought I could put them on my Christmas list but that’s no good when it’s so cold now - so I just bought a pair 😳
In a lovely aubergine and 48% off.

I did manage to resist the neck warmers and ankle warmers though. (Only because you can’t use both the 10% off code and the free pair of socks if you spend over £30 code simultaneously 😂)

Edited

This has reminded me I can knit these! Made a load a few years ago but Lord knows where most of them gone over 2 x house moves in 2 years... I might start some more tonight as I'm down to one pair, I think.

If anyone wants any really badly knitted fingerless gloves, not in cashmere (I have rainbow wool on the go at the moment), let me know 😀

Hello @DivaRainbow ! Hope the bloating settles down soon - I think lots of water should help - keeps everything flushing out! 🙂
