@Panama2 I’m afraid I didn’t feel anything until I was on 5mg, when suddenly it all made sense. Hang in there!

Panama2 · 17/11/2025 11:31

I must admit I was expecting either instant nausea or a bright light and the clouds parting.

@Panama2 is this your very first dose of 2.5mg?

Yes my very first

Ooh, exciting, good luck!

MooBaggage · 17/11/2025 13:53

@Panama2 the first thing I noticed, on about day 3, was that my very long term plantar fasciitis had disappeared! Am still regarding this as miraculous, as I'd had every possible treatment over several years and nothing had shifted it.

The 2nd thing within the week was that my IBS also disappeared - massively life changing for me as it was really inhibiting my ability to go anywhere not in close proximity to a loo..

So look out for other changes and impacts. My appetite and ability to eat the portion sizes I was used to probably came around week 2, maybe? I remember making and eating a normal sized lunch and feeling soooooo over full - took my brain and habits a while to catch up with what my stomach could now tolerate.

Don't be disheartened if you don't get a quick result @Panama2 - for me I got no effect until I went up to 10mg. Lots of money spent to no effect at the start, but after that it was well worth it, and now almost 6.5 stone down.

WeAllHaveWings · 17/11/2025 18:35

Bought my first Black Friday deal - multivitamins if anyone is interested.

Went for the same one as last year, Metagenics Multivitamins for Women 50+ usually £28/month got them for around £13/month on their Black Friday 3 for 2 and stacked on a SIGNUP30 for 30% off too (got ds to sign up as a new customer 🤞 they don't notice). They have the more bio available methyl versions of B12 and folate (instead of the cheap cyano versions), worth a look but check they have everything you want and are suitable for you. They are quite big tablets too (2 a day) if that is a problem.

Urgh, antibiotics and MJ not a good combo 😫 my surgery wound is infected and started antibiotics today, and all I can taste is chemical nastiness! It’s horrible. I also haven’t been able to get my head into the strict mindset I had before the surgery, I just keep having mini binges (mini compared to what I would have before!) I have gained 5lbs in 3 weeks, my wound is quite swollen so that might be adding a bit but not 5lbs worth 😞
I don’t know how to get back into the correct headspace. My husband keeps telling me to chill out, have a few treats and recover, but I feel so guilty

Beachcomber74 · 17/11/2025 21:59

@Reginaphalangeeeee Wow you’ve lost a tremendous amount-well done!
I’m really keen to get to 100kg then will start dreaming of being just overweight rather than obese. 10 is giving me sulphur burps and mild cramps. So tough when you are willing a loss and continue to plateau I hope you see some movement south this week.

So sorry you’re suffering. Wishing you strength and healing ❤️‍🩹

Beachcomber74 · 17/11/2025 22:01

Regarding hair loss I’m on bovine and marine collagen which seem to help.

Panama2 · 18/11/2025 08:02

I survived my first day. I have been suffering a cough and cold and feeling a bit queasy anyway and the only thing I fancied was some toast it got till 8pm and I realised I hadn’t thought about food well biscuits and snacks and I wasn’t hungry anyway.

MooBaggage · 18/11/2025 08:07

@Panama2 ah yes - the silence! Isn't it weird...?! I'm still not used to it - all those endless thoughts about what can I eat and when will I be eating, all gone! I remember wondering what my head would be full of, now all those thoughts had disappeared 😀

Hopefully, the food noise silence will continue and your new task will be to remember to eat regularly, do smaller portions and prioritise protein. Plus drink lots of water!

Well done for surviving day one 😍

@alwaysscared sorry to hear the surgical site is infected. Hopefully this clears up soon for you. Some abx have a disgusting taste in your mouth as a side effect anyway. Would sucking in a really strongly flavoured peppermint sweet help with this at all?

@Panama2 I didnt really notice anything right from the off either. However what I noticed really early on was that I was permanently cold. Like bone chillingly cold and nothing could warm me up. It was early October last year I started the MJ and while I spend most winter freezing anyway (combo of autoimmune disease ballsing up my temperature regulation and living somewhere its always cold) I noticed it a lot sooner. I'm on 15mg though. So this probably has a lot to do with it. My cats think my heated blanket is the best thing ever though.

InfoSecInTheCity · 18/11/2025 08:31

Welcome @Panama2and hope the cold goes away soon.

protein and fibre are your friends on MJ, the fibre will help combat constipation, keep you feeling full and is great for bowel health and the protein is good for satiety, hair, nails, muscles etc.

So stick some peanut butter on that whole grain seeded toast or have it with a poached/fried/scrambled egg or avocado.

One trap lots of people on MJ fall into is chasing the lowest possible number of calories they can survive on for quicker losses. It may feel great in the first week when you see a big loss in the scales but it’s not sustainable and will make you tired, sick and feeling awful over time.

Calculate your TDEE, eat 500 less than that and settle in for consistent long term losses. It works and unlike other diets it’s easier to just keep going and not hit that binge point. That’s what I’ve found so miraculous about MJ, I’ve just been able to stick with it for over a year and haven’t ever reached the ‘I give up, shovelling in Star Bars and crisps’ stage.

Panama2 · 18/11/2025 17:09

I have got myself some wheat protein bread and am geared up for protein rich meals. I have always been a grazer of mostly biscuits but I had stopped eating them last week before my first jab.

From me the biggest thing is not thinking about food is this what it is like for people without a weight it makes it so much easier.

alltablenochairs · 18/11/2025 22:44

It would appear that my crazy moulting like a husky hair loss has stopped. I have waist length hair so it was rather a lot at times! Not sure if its the telogen effluvium settling down (this wasnt a MJ thing), the b6 I am taking, the ridiculously overpriced super long, super strong hair stuff I am using, keeping my hair plaited overnight or something else. Interestingly since taking the b6 my nails are much stronger and arent literally snapping like they used to.

Hello everyone... I saw posted on another thread that even though this thread has been going for quite some time that you still welcome newbies.

I wanted to find people that have had similar amounts of weight to lose.

About me... I started at the end August after trying and failing to get back to keto/low carb eating that I had been successful with 4 years previously.

I'm currently taking 5mg (3rd dose), after 4 weeks of 2.5mg and 6 weeks of 3.75mg

Start weight: 121.4kg / 267.6lbs
Current weight: 111.8kg / 246.5lbs
Total loss: 9.6kg / 21.2lbs in 12 weeks
Goal weight: 78kg (might change)

I feel like I'm eating bigger meals than I did when I first started - I'm not sure if this is a bad thing, since I don't really eat breakfast.

I lost 0.9kg / 2.0lbs last week (Thursday weigh in).

Any advice?

Hi!
When I started MJ I was 133kg and had a BMI of 45. I'm now 92.6kg and have a BMI of around 31.4. I dont have an end goal though yet- too many years of all kinds of slimming clubs has given me an absolute horror of this. I've been taking MJ since October 24 and am now on 15mg.

My advice? If you feel the cold buy an electric blanket! A few of us have them on here and they're fabulous.

alltablenochairs · 19/11/2025 00:08

Ummmmm, I have a MJ related problem. I need an entirely new formal wardrobe. As in trousers, blouses, the works. Balllllllllllllsssssss. Vinted ahoy.

I'm entirely SE. Its a bit niche but essentially its a consultancy type thing. Most of my clients are returning clients and know me well enough by now to not care if I am in a meeting in leggings, tunic and cardigan. This was a different type of meeting though yesterday and necessitated formal wear. Except nothing fits me any more, its all miles too big. Thankfully the whole not walking thing meant I could get away with wearing said miles too big trousers and staying firmly seated in my (wheel)chair.

Thanks... funnily enough I always feel cold even before MJ.
Last year I bought a heated oversized fleece lined hoodie, but with the flashes it's a bit of a faff to put on now.

Which blanket(s) are recommended?

My BMI was 42 when I started... my scales say it's currently 38.5

ShrankLastWinter · 19/11/2025 11:27

@maz99 sounds like you’re doing brilliantly! That’s a very good loss rate. If you’re worrying about portion size creeping up, you could just make sure what you’re having more of is vegetables or lean proteins. But you’re clearly still losing well.

Drinking plenty of fluids is really crucial. Weirdly crucial ime.

WeAllHaveWings · 19/11/2025 13:38

Welcome @maz99 ! Well done you your progress so far looks like you are off to a great start!

I definitely started eating more 2-3 months in as "suppression" (which I didn't enjoy) eased off and I was able to eat more, but at the same time still make better choices as the food noise and cravings were gone (most of the time). For me that was a good thing as I was eating too much of a calorie deficit before!

Skipping breakfast is not great for me for a few reasons, too long without eating triggers my (now non medicated) acid reflux, eating a protein focused breakfast instead of putting all calories into lunch/dinner I feel works better with Mounjaro to keep more stable throughout the day and keep those cravings at bay, plus breakfast is a good opportunity to get in some protein to meet those protein targets.

It is trial and error to see what works best for you to keep to your calorie deficit and macro targets, and listen to how your body reacts, if you get cravings/side effects/can't reach your targets/have low energy look at what/when you are eating that could be working against you.
