And it’s now all on at the wrong size 😭

This is the biggest pain. Anything uploaded pre change is messed up. I'm not even a seller but it must be infuriating.

All my old searches now show as if I was looking for sizes 20-22 and 22-24 which purely on principle I object to. 😂

NewbieMJ · 10/11/2025 14:00

Great to hear from you @RobinEllacotStrike I'm not far behind you. I weigh 174 lbs, and 89 lbs down, but you are taller than me, so not near a size 12. Congratulations, that must feel amazing!

I went out for dinner last night with the family, and wore a size 14 dress. It felt fantastic.

On the carb front; I keep my carbs very low and avoid sugar generally, BUT if I have refined carbs or sugar, not only does my body want more, I am guaranteed to have an initial weight gain, that takes 7-10 days to come down and guaranteed no weight loss whatsoever, so sometimes up to 2 weeks of repayment for a minor indulgence. My body is so insulin resistant and even 14 months on, it reacts very badly to sugar, so I know in the long term I will have to be vigilant and disciplined. So worth it though and I will never go back to obesity.

Like many of us here, we have journeyed this far, and there is no going back. I always said I'd do anything to lose weight...so avoiding sugar seems a small price to pay, now I am here.

Here's to a good week lovely losers💪

SecondCircuit · 10/11/2025 15:26

Great to hear of your progress ladies.

It looks like I’m stalling at 91kg but I’ve accepted it now after the initial disappointment. I like @InfoSecInTheCity kitchen roll analogy.

I just thought that I’d detected a spare tyre shift, got excited and wanted to reward myself by buying something new (and smaller). But it looks like XL is staying here for a bit longer.

Not sure if you’ve been to the shops recently but they are full of great clothes now. The current fashion evokes memories of the 80. style (I’m that old😅) snd I find it pretty cool and stylish. Lots of earthy colours, long coats, simple, unfussy lines, those new barrel leg trousers, often slightly cropped, chunky boots. I love it. Tia from Uncle Buck comes to mind😊.

I might be considering getting a pair of those trousers for Christmas; although must pause and think as DD would probably faint. Or disown me.

InfoSecInTheCity · 10/11/2025 15:50

@SecondCircuittheres a weird thing I noticed around a stall and I might actually just be weird and a medical marvel but I suspect not and it is this. My language by the way will not be even a little bit scientific!

I would have periods of time with no loss on the scales but would notice the ‘quality’ of my fat would change and all of a sudden my belly or thighs or arms would suddenly feel more squishy and fluffy like marshmallow.it even did fun things like almost floating in the bath. When this happened I would know that I was due a whoosh of weight loss, that even though the scales were being bastards and staying the same or horror of horrors going up, that something scientific was actually happening on the inside. one day i would wake up 4 lbs lighter like the squishy marshmallow fat had evaporated overnight.

QueenOfHiraeth · 10/11/2025 17:51

@SecondCircuit I agree with @InfoSecInTheCity here. I have had times when the scales have not moved for almost 2 months and yet, during that time, I have lost inches and a dress size. It's very odd.
I keep looking at the scales and thinking I haven't lost but, if I look at the monthly figures, I have but it is just going very, very slowly indeed.

I've experimented today by injecting into my arm instead of my tummy just to change things about a bit and see if that helps move things along. I'm still very stressed, chasing my tail, spending lots of hours driving up and down the motorway to visit DM in hospital, not eating the best and doing my very best not to feel sorry for myself!

HumBumBum · 10/11/2025 17:53

Yes I’ve noticed the squishy fat phenomenon @InfoSecInTheCityI’m hoping my marshmallow thighs are going to reduce with the next pound on the scale, it’s been about 3 weeks since I lost anything!

ANutAsBigAsABoulder · 10/11/2025 18:10

Definitely agree with the squishy fat phenomenon. My stomach has gone all squishmallowy recently, so I’m hoping some of it will soon be on its way out.

dimples76 · 10/11/2025 20:11

I had a weekend of overindulgence celebrating my Mum's 75th and friend's 50th birthdays. Three celebrations = too much rich food and alcohol (since starting MJ I have been almost teetotal). For some reason I decided to weigh myself at the gym this morning. For the first time since starting mj at the end of Jan the scales showed a gain. I am quite pleased with my response though - which was to remind myself that I was at the gym and that this week healthier food choices will be made.

SecondCircuit · 10/11/2025 21:10

Interesting observations re the squishy fat and plateauing. I’ll be watching mine🙂

I really like to think this happens for me. My weight loss has been stubbornly slow in its 2nd phase (stall 1-2 months last time). I have been 0.5kg a week, then a stall so over the last 5 weeks only lost 1Kg… but it seems absolutely everyone has noticed that one (very slow to come off) kg. So many comments and yes… very fluffy tummy fat. I was giving myself a talk to as gym not been visited frequently post flu.

its sad when weight loss is 1-2 kg a month but know, over a year that near 2 stone! You just get used to the 1Kg a week feel!

Advice about antibiotics:
Anyone been on them while on MJ?
I have an infected insect bite that GP said I need antibiotics. 5 days of Flucloxicillin. I have to take on an empty stomach and say 1 hour before or 2 hours after food. I have delayed stomach emptying on MJ so assume bigger gaps after food needed?
Feel silly not to have asked pharmacist now and just gobbled first dose. Can anyone speak from experience?

MooBaggage · 11/11/2025 06:36

Finally 1lb off here, after my boring no loss week last week!

SW 13.1.25 20st 3lbs BMI 43.0
CW 11.11.25 14st 8lbs BMI 31.0

One more lb to be in the BMI 30s 😍

I'm off for a short holiday with my best friend on Thursday - 5 x nights in an all inclusive in Lanzarote (what could possibly go wrong?!), so am anticipating a no loss week for the next week! But don't think I'll go too bonkers - just don't feel the need - and I'll be able to do lots of swimming and strolling, which will be lovely 🙂

@InfoSecInTheCity & others who mentioned squishy marshmallow belly thanks!! I’m about 6 weeks into loosing & regaining the same 1.5lb, yesterday I noticed my stomach very squishy all of a sudden & today my trousers feel a lot looser!! You’ve given me hope the scales will follow soon!!!

that 1.5lb will take me over the 4st loss mark!!

Darlinghag · 11/11/2025 20:17

The first time it happened to me, i was shocked! I find now, it has remained mostly squishy, but sort of changes how so as I go along!

@MooBaggagewell done, your losses are amazing!!

@Reginaphalangeeeee I've been on amoxicillin and steroids all week for a nasty chest infection and bronchitis. I didn't find any adverse impact of taking them at the usual 3 a day intervals, morning/noon/evening, and the lack of empty stomach didn't really impact.

Hope you're doing ok with them and feeling better soon. Plateud again last week, likely due to being so unwell. Need to ramp up the water and exercise again now that I'm on the mend.

Day 190 of not missing my steps though. Most motivated and consistent I've ever been!

This actually hadnt even occurred to me, I’ve taken antibiotics a couple of months ago for a UTI and didn’t experience any issues.

QueenOfHiraeth · 11/11/2025 22:52

@Reginaphalangeeeee I would just try to take the fluclox an hour before your next meal is due so you would aim for the emptiest your tummy can be rather than trying to figure out how long after food.
@Sam187 Amoxicillin does not need to be on an empty stomach so it's an easier option with MJ

alltablenochairs · 11/11/2025 23:13

Not a penicillin based antibiotic (stupidly allergic to those) but clarithromycin doesnt need to be taken on an empty stomach. Bonus in that it only needs taking twice a day as well.

Can I join the wibbly bits club? I find this also happens to me. I have a lot of wobbly parts though- this might be because I had so much to lose in the first place though (approx 60kg). Slowed down a bit recently but then I've been Dealing With Stuff so I'm not surprised.

Dare I mention the C word already? Has anyone made plans? In this house we actually have the roast on Christmas eve. DH and the kids have meat, I will have nut roast that I've already made and frozen into portions. BBC recipe- faffy but it really is rather fabulous.
This is purely selfishly because its my Christmas as well and I dont want to spend Christmas day slaving away in the kitchen. I just put a spread out, sling party food in the oven at intervals and the kids and DH can help themselves. Its the one day of the year I don't give a damn what and when anyone eats- last year my 15 year old was eating fish fingers for Christmas bbreakfast. I find buffet style easier as I can pick and choose what and when to eat rather than having a big (for me) dinner.

InfoSecInTheCity · 11/11/2025 23:30

@alltablenochairs we always do a very small Xmas day just me, DH and DD. The whole focus of the day is lazing around, leisurely opening and playing with presents, watching crap on TV, cuddling on the sofa, eating what we fancy. We never do a big fancy roast, we just cook something we all really want to eat, some years that’s been a Chinese feast or a selection of BBQ stuff, most years we go to M&S and get their pre-prepared Xmas dinner stuff that just all goes into the oven in it’s foil tray so it’s just done, delicious and easy to clean up. Supper/evening meal is usually Camembert with fresh baguette for dunking and a selection of pickles and sides.

xmas eve is usually a beige buffet from Iceland because it’s DDs very favourite meal ever, Boxing Day we take the in-laws to a Chinese restaurant.

my approach last year was that I had a very small serving of everything and filled any space with veg. So my plate was half broccoli, cabbage and carrots, then I had a roast potato, half a yorkie, a pig in blanket…….. so I still got to enjoy a full Xmas dinner but without feeling Ill or going into carb/sugar spikes.

QueenOfHiraeth · 12/11/2025 20:27

@alltablenochairs We have always had very big Christmases but I love cooking and my food noise made all the searching for inspiration, planning recipes, shopping, etc fun. We have always invited lots of family, friends and neighbours so I usually bought a turkey that serves about 15. Oddly, I never understood people finding it stressful even when I had a houseful!

Since the DCs have grown up, married and had their own babies plus some older friends and relatives are no longer with us, I have stepped back my preparation and standards and now use frozen or prepared roasties and veg. We still have a wonderful day though even though it is much smaller.

WeAllHaveWings · 12/11/2025 21:39

Not sure what we are doing this year for Christmas. The last couple of years ds(21) has been working Christmas Day until around 6pm (in his uni PT job, getting out of it is not possible if he wants to keep job which he does)

What we have done the last couple of years is pop over to family with young kids in the morning for a couple of hours to give gifts, then head back home and wait for ds before we have a late Christmas dinner just the three of us, such a change from our previous Christmases up to about 4 years ago around at my parents (now gone) and there was always 10-18 of us squeezed in together on the day.

We do the big family meet up at a restaurant, then back to someone’s house after on a weekend before Christmas (which ds also misses as working at Christmas parties), and everyone has their own family things now on the day. It makes me a bit sad ds doesn’t see any Christmas celebrations now with wider family, but it is what it is, and hopefully only temporary while at uni.

So our meal will be pretty straightforward as late at night, last year we did a stick in the oven M&S sirloin roast with M&S potato dauphinoise and veg and desserts, which was easy and very tasty, and I had lots of meat/veg and some potatoes, but it didn’t somehow seem Christmassy as ds was knackered after work and not much sleep the night before (they go out with friends late on Christmas Eve).

Reginaphalangeeeee · 12/11/2025 22:00

Thank you all. The antibiotics are working thank goodness some sign the swelling and lump going down and less sore.
I have found it hard to space out doses on an empty tummy, the antibiotics become much less effective with food so been careful to stick to the plan.
Fitting in work commitments and children evening taxi commitments has meant my eating window has been very small and has drastically dropped my intake of food the last 2 days, but I am also less interested by food. I will do better tomorrow.

For those whom who extend the use of pens for 5th dose and beyond…. Does the drug become less effective or is it just the risk of infection/contamination? I had to pause a week but do use the 5th dose normally, but this will be over the 30days, recon ok?

I am close to a big target and it’s playing mind games on me.. I am currently 100.5kg having lost 5.5 stone since January and I so want to be under 100kg. Weight loss slowed to 0.5kg a week if lucky. I flip from ‘wow 5.5 stone, I couldn’t dare dream this a year ago’ to, ‘I thought I would be near target by Christmas’ which I am nowhere near and I get cross to be annoyed with myself.

Christmas talk is starting and I remember how unhappy I was a year ago about my weight, the shame I felt and I almost didn’t want to see people or be seen eating in front of them. I still feel that shame now but it’s dressed up with ‘why I am paying so much and loosing so little’, ‘why I can’t get on and do some exercise’ and ‘despite the 5.5stone loss, so much to go still.’

aghhh it’s noisey in my brain tonight!

gimmemounjaro · 13/11/2025 05:56

@Reginaphalangeeeee I have never noticed any drop off in effectiveness and have been doing 6 or 7 doses per pen lately, I’m sure you’ll be fine.

MooBaggage · 13/11/2025 06:31

@Reginaphalangeeeee Ah the mind games! Here's my ridiculous inside voice this morning:

I'm off to Fuerteventura today and habe just weighed myself - am now 14st 8lb with a loss of 79lbs - but really really wanted to go weighing 14st 7lbs with an 80lb loss...

No reason, not a 'real' target and I am 6 weeks ahead of the weight loss schedule/predictions I made in April 2025 - but am really disappointed...!

It's ridiculous. So I get it completely. Why do we always have to kick ourselves even when we should be so proud and celebrating?! My psychology is definitely based on my relationship with my Mum, but that's a whole different matter! 🤦‍♀️😬

I also measured myself this morning (I record my weight and measurements at the beginning, middle and end of each month) and have lost 2 inches everywhere since the end of September - hurrah!

Onwards and downwards..... 🥰
