Roll up, roll up (if you can, you skinny Minnie’s!) to all the brave WL warriors still battling on and hanging on in there.

8 months in … welcome to thread 8! 🥰

This thread I pledge:
to do two exercise sessions per week.
(There I’ve said it. Better do it now, hadn’t I).

Goal:
Find an amazing dress to wear for an awards ceremony I am going to in November.

Anyone else got any particular targets?

Big love to you all x

It was my MJ anniversary yesterday. I weighed every day, to be aware of fluctuations. I was 11st 4 on Thursday morning and put on 3lbs overnight thanks to a salty Thai takeaway for DH’s birthday. Haven’t lost that yet due to Valentine’s treats yesterday. So I’m taking 11 st 4 as my ‘true’ weight as I know I’ll drop down again after my next jab. I was tantalisingly close to a 4 stone loss over the last year, but I know I’m going to get there.
SW before MJ (Oct 2023) : 15st 6
SW before 1st jab (Feb 2025): 15st 3
CW: 11st 4

Probably got another 2 stones to go as I’m only 5ft 3

SpiralSister · 15/02/2026 10:24

Morning warriors! Just checking in, it’s been a while! Still on the MJ, 5mg. Just under 10 stone which is a bit under target, so will probably drop to 2.5mg next pen.

How is everyone doing? I am wishing v hard for spring. This relentless rain is making me sad 😢

PurpleCoo · 16/02/2026 07:41

Hi everyone! I've been a bit quiet on here as I feel a bit stuck.

Well done @SpiralSister it sounds like maintenance/coming off is going really well.

I have now been hovering at around the same weight for 3 months now, I am actually probably a kg heavier, but Christmas followed by a big birthday so lots of meals out etc. Also my cycle has been all over the place and really frequent, so I think there is a bit of fluid retention goin on, so in my head I am maintaining.

Which would be great that I am am maintaining with all those meals out and cycle weirdness if I was at goal, but I'm not. I am stubbornly at around 25.something BMI so still overweight, albeit a size 10.

I had gone up to 7.5 max, and had reduced to 6.75, which was a mistake and went up to 7.5 again. But still not losing on that, so have now gone up to 8.75. can't say I am noticing much difference, but it's only been a few days and I came on. Which always messes with my hunger, even still on MJ.

It's sooo frustrating as I only have about 3-4kg to lose, but I just can't seem to do it.

But, I am still keeping up with the exercise, and ramped up the UPF avoidance (not that I had very much anyway, but looking much more closely at labels at the less obvious UPFs)

SpiralSister · 16/02/2026 07:51

Wotcher, @PurpleCoo. Sounds frustrating. Also, it’s a bit of a puzzle that one could be overweight according to BMI, but be a size 10! How do you feel and look? I know that you do a lot of exercise and are probably very fit and muscled, do you think that is skewing the BMI?

PurpleCoo · 16/02/2026 08:11

@SpiralSister I am only 5'4, plus I think size 10 is what used to be a size 12! I am still a size 12 in some older clothes for sure 🤣 I think I generally look ok, and probably fall into the category of needing to tone up. I don't look overweight in the slightest, I'm 38", 29", 37" which I think is a reasonable size to be at my height, but still have a wobbly belly, inner thighs and slight bingo wings. It's not just loose skin, it a mix of loose skin and fat. If those areas sorted themselves out I would be fine with whatever the scales/bmi said at this size, which I think will be higher as I have really quite muscular quads and glutes especially, although shoulders are starting to look more defined too and can feel really solid ab muscles, though you can't see them under the belly wobble!

In fairness I am only slightly in the overweight category, so the small amount of wobble I have would account for this I think.

narkyspirit · 12/02/2026 10:31

so finally made it under 12 stone just, weight loss now equals π in stone 😎

Well done @narkyspirit

Using the waist to height ratio, which is a better measure of health than BMI, I would say you are well within the healthy range 👏🏻.
I had to use this measurement as I have a high muscle mass and at 54, losing any more weight i felt wouldn't look good on me.

PurpleCoo · 18/02/2026 07:33

@Hangryfastjo Hi. Thanks, yes, I'm healthy range when thinking about waist to height, which is good, but my waist is relatively small compared to the rest of me (even when I was a size 16).

I'm sure it's about vanity to a degree, and partly just something mentally that makes me think I have 'done it' if I have a healthy BMI. As it's only about 3kg (I think) to do that, it feels like it should be achievable.

Because I have a small(ish) waist and muscular thighs, my lower belly bulge looks really disproportionate, because it pokes right out and is then practically flat from the belly button up. It looks weird in waist length tops if I have tighter fitting clothes (like at the gym). I don't have low self esteem about this, but would like to continue trying to improve it, whilst appreciating that at 50 I am unlikely to have a completely flat belly

Housewife2010 · 19/02/2026 09:56

Good morning.
I haven't contributed on here too much in recent months (but I was checking on here several times a day in the early months and it has been a fantastic support group for me. )
I have just found out that I'm finally "NORMAL!" and had to share.
My husband's at work, my teenage son is still asleep & I'm lying in the bath grinning!
I'd love to get to 10 stone, 9.5 stone would be the dream - my lightest as an adult was briefly 9 st 8. I'm mid 50's though so am being realistic re face v 🍑.
My goal was a healthy BMI and to find out that I'm finally NORMAL is fantastic.
Well done to all of us. 🎊

Massive congratulations @Housewife2010 - I love the joy in your post!

PurpleCoo · 19/02/2026 13:52

Well done @Housewife2010 that's a great achievement

If you want to keep the bottom, lots of weights, pilates, squats and lunges. I do about 4-5 classes a week of these and still have a pert and curvy bottom. I am only a few years younger than you as well

I don't think I will be ever normal though, even if I got to a healthy BMI 🤦‍♀️🤣🤣🤣

Mounjaroday · 19/02/2026 16:21

Congratulations @Housewife2010 what a great moment to celebrate!

Marypoppinsisnosaint · 19/02/2026 18:41

@Housewife2010 well done, huge congratulations 🎉

And well done to all who are continuing to lose/maintain. I'm currently 12 stone 6 which is just over 5 and half stone lost.

I've had my first negative comment today surprise, surprise from my mother. She asked if I was still losing and I said yeah extremely slowly now though. She hugged me a basically begged me not to lose anymore. Almost emotional and concerned for my welfare. I fired back that I've had my NHS health check and all my results have come back below average, apart from BMI as I'm still in the obese category. This time last year my results would have been vastly different.
Seemed to have satisfied her.

Honestly some people 🤦‍♀️😂

MynameisJune · 19/02/2026 21:18

This has been an amazing couple of pages to read! Everyone has done absolutely awesome, what a bunch of losers 🤩

My year anniversary was yesterday, I’m still struggling to believe it’s only been a year and things are so different to how I felt before I started MJ.

I found some old pictures of myself and I cannot believe how big I looked, I definitely didn’t see myself like that when I looked in the mirror and it’s been a shock to be able to see such a difference.

Check in time -

SW 14st8lb
TW 10st7lb
CW 10st3lb BMI 22

Today I got an amazing suede jacket delivered from Vinted. It’s a size small, when I looked at it I thought there’s no way it was fitting. Except it did and it’s slightly too big in that the two front panels overlap quite a bit when pulled in. My mind is still catching up with my body.

2026 has been rough so far with family stuff and a lot of issues at work to deal with. So I’m only really just getting my head around what I want from this year.

Focusing on exercise now, I’m starting reformer Pilates again nervous but excited. Definitely need to build the 🍑 back up!

I want to try and improve/maintain joint mobility as well as build strength so looking at exercises that help with these things.

And want to carry on maintaining. I will not go back to that sad person I was before.

laundryhamper · 20/02/2026 05:09

I have been in Australia for work this week.
It is pretty hot and some days I’ve been doing some manual work so dress accordingly.

On Monday afternoon, a stranger came up to me in the street as I was walking back to my lodging.

Excuse me, he said.

I stopped, thinking he was going to ask me for directions as I have that kind of face.

Those shorts are too short for you to be wearing out in public, he said. Have a nice day.

And off he went.

SpiralSister · 20/02/2026 08:30

The absolute gall of him, @laundryhamper! What an absolute tool!

Yes @Mounjaroday @Paulahoust I was speechless too, I don’t know what to make of it. He quickly walked off before I could think of something appropriate to say. It was 4.30pm and he did not appear to be intoxicated or otherwise behaving strangely. Who does this???

Gonefishingithink · 21/02/2026 07:32

I bought a one in December and it’s been sitting in the fridge since. I’m overwhelmed with the thought of whether to use it or not. I’m scared about doing it wrong. I worry about side effects. I worry when i stop the weight will just pile back on.

Please someone talk to me and reassure me. I hate doing something like this with no medical supervision.

Mounjaroday · 21/02/2026 17:03

Hi @Gonefishingithink

You can’t do anything ‘wrong’. Honestly. It’s so very straightforward. Just read the instructions and crack on.

Re side effects. Everyone’s different. From my perspective they were perfectly manageable. Yes, my hair thinned a bit (quite common for major weight loss anyway, and it’s growing back just fine), I had a dodgy tummy from time to time, and experienced being a bit cold. None of the side effects were nearly as bad as the side effects I had been experiencing from obesity. It took losing the weight to realise how much it had been physically and mentally effecting me.

If you feel closer medical supervision would be helpful to you, speak to your provider for support. A friend of mine is also on Mounj through a private provider, but also has regular check ins with her GP.

It is absolutely one of best decisions I have ever made. My life has changed dramatically and in more ways than I could have imagined at the start. My wardrobe’s a lot nicer too.

Best of luck x

Thanks that's really encouraging. I feel so pathetic that the thought of the first injection is so overwhelming. Instructions generally make me quite stressed and the thought of having to inject myself is very stressful.

Mounjaroday · 23/02/2026 23:25

Perfectly understandable and not pathetic at all tbh. I was super nervous before I started too.

There should be a Feb 2026 starters thread somewhere - join that if you find it (or start one if there’s not!). Being in the same boat with other people who began WLI at the same time can be a huge support.

(Feel free to hang around here too if you like though. Fair warning: as we’re a year on, we’re a bit less active than we were at the start is all. Too busy choosing what to wear and living our new lives!).
