Went to see second consultant this evening and he’s given me the 16th December for y first knee replacement surgery - Eeeek! He will decide at my six week checkup when he will do the second, probably March.
I don’t know whether to be excited or really scared! This will be the first time I’ve had an operation or been in hospital since I had my children 40 odd years ago. I’ve now got 5 weeks to get everything sorted out, I’ll end someone to stay with me for a few days ( I live alone) and help with cooking etc. I’ll be given an idea of what equipment I might need for recovery at my pre op visit when I’ll see the physio but he warned me not to get bruised or scratched on my legs as he can’t operate then due to risk of cross infection.
I will have to come off Mounjaro two weeks before and not restart until two weeks afterwards but if I continue to have diarrhea after each injection I might not continue using it - time to reflect I think. I’ve also got to stop taking my blood thinners beforehand as I’ll be given stronger ones which I’ll need to inject - getting to be an expert at that now!
Lots to think about so I’m going to not do my usual thing of over thinking things and not do any planning for a few days. The only thing I need to fairly soon is cancel some Christmas nights out and work out with my family what we are doing for Christmas - at only a week post op, I might not be up to our usual boisterous family do!
