I did my injection yesterday morning, jab number 9, 5mg again and I’m waiting with bated breath for my usual side effect! After my first 8 jabs, I’ve had diarrhea after 7 of them and constipation after the other one, usually starts 24 to 36 hours afterwards so I’ve not planned anything for this weekend! Maybe my body will finally get used to the Mounjaro ( or poison as I now secretly call it!) and I’ll be able to get on hemming 3 pairs of trousers for my niece - yes, I’m the soft auntie who can’t say No!

I need to be over any diarrhea before Monday when I go to see the second consultant and hopefully get a date for my first knee replacement surgery. I’m going to do some research this weekend into what support or equipment I’ll need afterwards, living alone this is something I need to think about.

I hope you’ve been ok today and the side effects haven’t returned?

I’ll be taking my first 5mg dose this evening and am a little nervous about side effects. I’ve been ok on 3.75 apart from a bad 3 day long headache after the first dose and ongoing constipation. Oh and waking in the night constantly and not being able to get back to sleep. Then I end up falling asleep on the sofa in the evening. Apparently it’s not a listed side effect apparently but it’s definitely a real issue for me.

On a positive, after having horrendous PMS last month which was definitely not usual for me approaching menopause, it seems to have settled back to normal this month.

I will check Vinted but I don’t know which brand/size to go for. I’ve been buying from plus size online stores for years. Might need to visit some stores to try the sizing and then look for second hand options.

You can treat yourself to a little trip!

JustPickleRick · 08/11/2025 21:13

Jabbed my first 3.75 dose tonight. Feeling nervous, I haven't really had any symptoms at all since the start so I guess I will be sick as a dog from this 😂

Good luck with your first 5 dose! I remember a headache at the start of the jabs but haven't had one for ages. I imagine i'll get one as i've just took my first 3.75 tonight!

Thanks, I’ve been fine so far, about 30 hours since I injected so usually I get symptoms within 48 hours. 0ddly, I had no appetite at all yesterday but today I forced myself to eat a bit more. I managed a reasonably full meal this evening a Mexican all in one dish using minced beef, rice and tons of veg, just 200g of meat had made 4 meals for me, two more in the fridge for later this week and one in the freezer to languish with the rest of the left overs! I then made myself eat the fibre rich foods I try to have each day to keep constipation at bay - a kiwi fruit, frozen fruit with Greek yogurt topped with a little granola and about 6 prunes. So now I feel absolutely stuffed! I kept well within my calorie deficit though and made up for a very light food day yesterday.

Ive not done any in between doses, just had 4 weeks on 2.5 with very little impact then went straight to 5 mg and I’ve just stared my second 5 mg pen. I get my pens from a local pharmacist who has to follow NHS guidelines re doses. He’s been so helpful and supportive at my 4 week check ins that I don’t want to move to an online supplier to allow me to mix up the doses. But I’m now getting some food suppression which is great so I will probably stick with 5mg for a while, only going up to 7.5 if that suppression wears off and the diarrhea stops.

I am still not really losing much weight though, certainly not as much or as regularly as I was over the summer when I was dieting without using Mounjaro so it’s still a possibility that I will stop taking it.

I did this last week after 6 weeks of 2.5, I was expecting side effects but I’ve had none at all. I felt much better suppression for the first 4 days, the last 2 it has gone completely and yesterday I pretty much ate using willpower. I’m going to move up to 5mg today. I’m going on a day out today which has been planned for ages so I can’t risk taking my jab this morning just incase I have side effects.

I hope you’ve remained side effect free, it seems to be a good compromise between staying on a low dose without doubling it to move up.

SW 18 stone 4lbs
CW 16 stone 9lbs
loss 23lbs
GW1 15stone
GW2 10 stone 7lbs

I'm side effect free still 🥳 i do feel quite tired right now but i don't really count that as thats just me all the time 😅

Think i did the jab slightly wrong last night but never mind now. I did a full 60 clicks to do 2.5, then I did 30 clicks to do 1.25 BUT I didn't count the first 2 clicks to the priming line. For some reason my brain said naaa start from 2 lines😅 so i've likely had 32 clicks rather than 30. Probably not even a measurable difference 😅

Kazzaa46 · 09/11/2025 08:52

@JustPickleRick good luck with 3.75mg, I’ll keep everything crossed that you don’t have side effects.

@Ihateslugs that’s sounding promising so far re side effects. Hopefully it’ll continue. I think now you’re getting more suppression it indicates you’re getting to a dose that works for your body. I hope this translates into better losses for you with this pen.

I’m 12 hours since my first 5mg last night. I actually slept really well last night for once. Feeling ok so far but it’s still early.
My constipation is bad this week, it’s been 5 days now so I’m getting concerned but I took a second round of sennokot last night but if still no joy today I’ll buy ducolux as suggested in this thread.

outofofficeagain · 09/11/2025 08:57

I’ve been out 2 nights running.

First night I drove - knew there would be ‘a spread’ so didn’t have any dinner and just ate some of the quiche and veg crisps on offer.

Last night I had dinner first, and two glasses of wine and managed to completely avoid the food table apart from one small chocolate brownie.

Noone commented on my weight loss but one friend did say how beautiful my hair and skin was looking- I think it must be all the water and lack of junk 🥰

I’m feeling very pleased with myself.

Hello

has anyone gone up to 7.5mg yet? I stayed on 5mg for two months due to nausea and not wanting to feel rubbish on holiday but now I’ve ordered the 7.5mg pen because loss has definitely tailed off on 5mg. I’m worried about the nausea coming back though. I’d like to hear other people’s experiences of going up?

thanks

threescoops · 09/11/2025 09:28

Treatment 12 for me today. I’ve lost 27lbs in the 12 weeks since 28 August, and I’m 1 lb away from the 2 stone milestone. That’s 37% of the 72 lbs or 5 stone I should, in theory, lose to go from 16 st 8 lbs to 11 st 8 lbs and a healthy BMI (seems unimaginable but we’ll see). Still doing well on a 2.5 mg pen, the golden dose from my second pen was 2.7 and I have increased slightly to 3.1 to get 4 exactly equal doses (75 clicks) from my third 2.5 pen. I have a fourth 2.5 pen in the fridge so I’d like to continue like this if I can. Food suppression has faded a bit, I do get hungry before dinner but small, healthy meals fill me up and I’ve not been tempted to snack between meals. I do enjoy a few glasses of wine at weekends. The only side effect is slightly sluggish bowels which can occasionally be uncomfortable, but that’s an acceptable price to pay. I’m delighted with my progress, it feels steady and sustainable without rushing up the strength. I’ve started my third 2.5 mg pen and still have another in the fridge so I hope this regime continues to work and sees me through to the end of December. Then I plan to start on the 2 x 5 mg pens I’ve got, increasing to 3.55 to get 7 equal doses out of each, which would take me up to the end of March by when I should be approaching a healthy BMI. I worked out I’ve invested about £800 in Mounjaro so I hope this plan works out and covers 6 months! Famous last words etc…..

Ihateslugs · 09/11/2025 09:38

Well, spoke too soon and the stomach cramps hit me in this morning! I decided to take Imodium this time after my first trip to the bathroom rather than suffer frequent bouts. I now regret eating so much yesterday, I was still within my calorie allowance but in previous weeks I’ve eaten a lot less the day after I injected hoping to avoid diarrhea - as it’s not worked, I just ate as normal.

At least I got the timing right to hopefully feel better tomorrow for my hospital appointment. I definitely won’t be taking Mounjaro while recovering from knee replacement surgery, I might need to be able to run to the toilet rather than hobble on crutches!

My body really does not like Mounjaro, 9 injections, 8 bouts of diarrhea and one of constipation!

Pinkbox · 09/11/2025 13:33

It’s bizarre how some get the runs and others get blocked up, from the same medicine. Mine was constipation but it wore off after the first three weeks,

Chopsy123 · 09/11/2025 14:13

@Kazzaa46 the Ducolax stuff is brilliant! I took 2 spoonfuls at bedtime (per instructions) and it did the trick. Don’t leave it too long as you don’t want to risk an impacted bowel!

@Bigbus Do you get no suppression on 5mg or does it work at the beginning of the week then tail off rapidly after day 4? Just wondering if it’s worth staying on 5mg but taking it every 5/6 days instead of weekly? I’ve read that’s what some people have done instead of moving up.

However, others have found that only the higher doses are effective for them and get little suppression on 5mg. I guess it depends on the individual.

@threescoops Oo, how did you manage to buy several pens at once? I bet you’ve made a good saving there. Brilliant. 👌
My supplier seems quite restrictive and was questioning me staying on 2.5mg on my second month instead of moving up to 5mg, although I get my prescription via my GP so it’s not really a problem. My GP will happily support me staying on the lower doses if I want to do that. She also said that some patients will need to stay on WLI for life so I don’t think it will be a problem getting them when I’ve reached a healthy BMI, if that’s what I need to do. (Although, I don’t really want to do that!)

bluepaperwaspofbxl · 09/11/2025 15:01

Off down the Dulcolax route for me too, as fybogel sets my head off. Speaking of which, I had a monster migraine yesterday, which always stops my gut.

threescoops · 09/11/2025 15:40

@Chopsy123I signed up with two online pharmacies, initially Well for a 10% discount and with whom I have a monthly phone consultation, and Ashcroft who allow you to buy more than one so I got two 2.5 mg pens just before the price rise in early September. Ashcroft have much cheaper prices than Well, think I paid them £125 compared to Well’s c £150 for 2.5, and Ashcroft often email clients 15% discount codes, so I bought a 5 mg pen twice from them at around £150! Slightly worried about constantly explaining to Well that I have such a stock from a rival, they advised me to keep the boxes so I can prove no break in treatment. Ashcroft do online consultations pre order, requiring proof of id, photos etc. But what’s the worst that can happen - Well refuse to serve me? If so I’ll continue with Ashcroft! They all quite rightly do their due diligence but, at the end of the day, they’re commercial outfits wanting to sell us our Mounjaro

I’m struggling at the moment with low mood. Not so much depression but can’t be arsed with anything. I’ve had an afternoon nap both days this weekend and feel utterly flat.

I don’t think the MJ are making me depressed but I think there is a dopamine issue. I was a complete sugar junkie before and I think that has masked the tiredness.

Is it just me? I don’t know whether to rest or need to do something to jiggle myself out of it.

@outofofficeagain it’s not just you, I’ve been thinking of coming on here to ask the same thing today. Been feeling flat all weekend. Tired too (I have been waking up in the night but I put that down more to general anxieties and some stressful things at the moment rather than MJ). I’ve had more old style food cravings this weekend too, but I sure if it’s because I’m feeling low or because 3.75mg is getting less effective. Some not great food choices have resulted!

I seem to remember seeing a thread where some kind of supplement was recommend to help mood but I can’t remember what it was!

Kazzaa46 · 10/11/2025 07:28

@Chopsy123 I bought some yesterday and two spoonfuls worked a treat 🥰

I developed a cold/cough last Thursday which has gradually got worse. Not been able to exercise since Wednesday and it has destroyed my appetite although I’ve still forced myself to eat. Last night the night sweats came which I’m hoping is a sign I’m on the recovery path now. It’s amazing how much these bugs can wipe you out!

36 hours post my first 5mg jab and I don’t appear to have any side effects. It’s harder to tell with the cold but I’ve not felt nauseous, indigestion etc so my body seems to have accepted it so far.

Got my period this morning which might explain some of the low mood over the weekend (I’d forgotten about that 😂).

It has made me think I need to start exercising again more though- it always makes a massive difference to my mood. I’ve been off running since the start of the year due to hip pain but I got some painkillers off the doctor last week which are more effective, and now I’ve lost a stone I think I could afford to start back gently, maybe with walk/ run intervals. Especially if I actually bother doing my physio exercises again - such a faff but they do make a difference!!

I did a challenge for running at least 25 mins every day of December in 2023 and 2024 and it was bloody tough but fantastic for my mood and sense of well being at a time of year I often find tough on a mood and stress front. So I’m now deliberating whether to try doing that again….

Absolutely! I ran a half marathon in 2021 but haven't really run since. I have problems with my calves and feet and also need to do my physio exercises.

It's another reason to lose weight as I think this will help, and I know that running 5k a couple of times a week makes a huge difference to my mental health. Half marathon might be off the cards again though!

Maybe I need to start sooner rather than later. I was up to half way through couch to 5k last year but then twisted my ankle so back to the beginning.

You're right - exercise could be the answer (not biscuits)

I could have written your last paragraph myself! I was half way through C25K this summer in an attempt to restart and then sprained my ankle (non exercise related!) and what with the hips and weight gain I was just like ‘ok, enough for now!!’

I’d love to do a half marathon (or better still marathon) again sometime. It’s one of my major motivations to lose the weight to be honest as I just can’t run without pain and injury when my BMI is over 30. Plus all my sports bras are like tourniquets when I’m that size and I can’t bring myself to buy bigger ones which is probably stupid but the tightness is very off-putting….

But then it becomes a vicious cycle as the weight goes on easier and stays on when I’m not exercising! If I could actually get down to BMI 24/25 then I really think it would be a different story.

anyway, that is for the future. But I am going to try and get myself out for something gentle at least once this week 💪
