@Chopsy123I tried 3.75 last week for the first time out of sheer curiosity. 🫣 I have noticed suppression is definitely stronger, it lasted the full 7 days, I did 3.75 again yesterday to finish off my second pen. My 3rd Pen is a 5, which I intended to just do 2.5 from, but I am probably going to continue at 3.75 as I haven’t had any side effects and I feel great.

My mate, who started MJ 3 weeks after us went up to 5mg this week and says he has no desire whatsoever to eat.

Ok, so despite having horrible constipation and a UTI, I’ve jabbed 36 clicks on the new 5mg pen giving myself 3mg. I wanted to increase my dose but didn’t fancy 3.75mg this week. Wish me luck! 😂

Also, thanks @SnowWhiteisMyFavourite I’ve bought the Ducolax and will try that tonight. 🤞

Chopsy123 · 07/11/2025 19:04

@bluepaperwaspofbxl If the ducolax doesn’t work, I’ll try your suggestions next. Thank you. 👍

So today I realised I ought to be adjusting my daily calorie target down from 1200 now that I have lost a stone. When I recalculated it based on taking 500 off my current TDEE it was 1100-1150. However several websites and forums are adamant that average height women should not drop below 1200.

Another thing I read said there was a minimum basal amount I needed to function and this was actually 1350! They said otherwise you can be fainting and the body wouldn’t be getting its nutrients. I have been feeling nauseous on and off so this resonated a bit with me.

I am now all manner of confused 🤔 can anyone advise please?

SoUncertain · 08/11/2025 07:28

@UnimaginableWindBird, congratulations on losing 10% of your body weight! I know slimming world always celebrate that amount as having a massive benefit to your health, so well done!

@Ihateslugs Sounds like your knee replacement consultation went amazingly well! I bet it felt good to show off your loss :)

@GhostOrchid so sorry for your loss. Well done for turning down the extras. It can be very easy to gain in that situation, so the fact you didn't is impressive in itself

@wodantimbercoaster nice one! I definitely know the feeling of being unmotivated by a gain, so think your choice to not weigh for a week sounds very sensible and one I should copy in the future!

That does sound really low. I think part of the reason they say not to go below 1200 is that it can be very difficult to get the nutrients you need, and you run the risk of deficiencies and muscle loss. If you're eating that close to your minimum requirements then you'd need to be "eating back" the calories that you burn through exercise. I am NOT a nutritionist, just a serial dieter, so please don't take this as gospel!

SoUncertain · 08/11/2025 07:36

Hmmm, I hope I am not seeing a new pattern. Last Friday, which is my day 3 currently, I started getting sulphur burps, then had awful diarrhoea over the weekend. Since then I had some constipation, but then yesterday (Friday again) the sulphur burps started and I've just had what seems to be diarrhoea again.

Last week I thought I must have eaten something dodgy, but this week showing the exact same pattern makes me wonder if it's MJ. I hope I'm not starting to have a strong reaction too! I have also had red skin reactions to 3.75mg, but hadn't had these GI issues until today.

Does anyone else have issues on days 3 to 5?

JustPickleRick · 08/11/2025 07:50

Weigh day!
After all the crap I ate, I still lost a pound 😅

SW: 12st 9
CW: 10st 3

Going to take my first 3.75 jab tonight and i'm feeling nervous. Definitely don't have time for diarrhoea or sickness 🫠

SnowWhiteisMyFavourite · 08/11/2025 08:16

@Pinkbox what’s your weight now? Only asking because I played with TDEE calculations awhile back and I agree with @SoUncertain that at some point I will need to start “earning” more calories to be able to eat more/stay in healthy calorie deficit range.

Due to my high starting weight (CW just under 17st) it’s quite easy for me currently to stay calorie deficit (TDEE is 1450 cals). However, this drops to around 1200cals when I hit 13st (not even my ideal weight) and weight loss will become harder. As you say, nutritionists say that it’s not healthy to eat less than that in a long term as you won’t get enough right nutrients . Therefore I’ve come to a conclusion that only way is to increase activity levels and total calorie burn to bring TDEE up and increase calorie deficit with exercise. I wish I would have paid more attention to this about 20 years ago!!

edit to add the link: I use this calculator. It shows different calories depending on you activity level and also calculates targets for carbs/protein/fats.

@SnowWhiteisMyFavourite Thanks a million. The ducolax worked!! 👌

outofofficeagain · 08/11/2025 10:19

Me too! I was disappointed I hadn’t really lost anything this week but dulcolax 2 nights running (first night had no effect) and I’m 1kg down!

Edited

I can’t edit this post anymore but I got my numbers mixed up. My target calories to lose weight are 1450 which will drop to 1200 as the weight goes down. The conclusion is the same: I will need to increase activity as my weight goes down to be able to stay within healthy calories.

and another note: I’m not nutritionist 😄

SnowWhiteisMyFavourite · 08/11/2025 10:46

@Chopsy123 glad it worked! And hope you feel better!

Saturday morning update:
W10 D1 3.75mg
SW 19st 3lbs
CW 16st 3lbs(!!!)
GW1 15st
GW2 13st
Last week -4.6lbs, 3st in total!

I had a really good suppression this week and felt quite full after the meals. I could have easily skipped some meals but I’m trying to make sure that I’ve eaten my calories even if I didn’t feel that hungry. (Few extra smoothies and yogurts to balance) As I mentioned in my other post, I find it easy at the moment to stay calorie deficit but I might up my protein intake a bit, I’m currently averaging 80-100g.

Some NSV so far:

  • wedding/engagement rings are back on and don’t feel tight
  • wearing my favourite winter coat from pre-Covid times
  • size 20 jeans are starting to feel loose

I think I’ve thrown away most of my old smaller size clothes. Not sure if I want to do any shopping whilst between the weights though…

Chopsy123 · 08/11/2025 11:06

@SnowWhiteisMyFavourite

Wowzers!! 3 stones in 10 weeks is incredible. Well done you! 🎉

Yes, the clothing conundrum is real. 😂
I don’t mind if my pants are loose around the hips and thighs but I can’t stand them feeling like they’re going to expose my bum cleavage when they’re loose at the waist. (Pants meaning trousers, jeans or leggings etc.)

I’ve already altered 3 pairs to make them fit my waist better but there’s a limit on what I can do just to the waist without ripping all the seams and re-cutting them, and I’m not sure I want to be bothered. But then I don’t want to spend money on buying or making clothes that are only going to be worn for a couple of months. 🤔

Ihateslugs · 08/11/2025 11:09

I did my injection yesterday morning, jab number 9, 5mg again and I’m waiting with bated breath for my usual side effect! After my first 8 jabs, I’ve had diarrhea after 7 of them and constipation after the other one, usually starts 24 to 36 hours afterwards so I’ve not planned anything for this weekend! Maybe my body will finally get used to the Mounjaro ( or poison as I now secretly call it!) and I’ll be able to get on hemming 3 pairs of trousers for my niece - yes, I’m the soft auntie who can’t say No!

I need to be over any diarrhea before Monday when I go to see the second consultant and hopefully get a date for my first knee replacement surgery. I’m going to do some research this weekend into what support or equipment I’ll need afterwards, living alone this is something I need to think about.

Can you Vinted? I’ve done this before and then you can sell them on again. Or at least get very cheap.

Chopsy123 · 08/11/2025 11:25

I just weighed myself after solving the constipation issue and I’m down 3lbs from last week, so v happy with that. I’m now 13st 2.5lbs and really looking forward to breaking that 13 stones barrier and getting into the 12’s. Maybe next week?

My first goal was 12 and a half stones by Christmas so I think I should manage that with any luck. 😁

@Ihateslugs Oo, I love hemming stuff. I use my overlocker as I’ve discovered (!) a cool way to do them that’s like blind hemming on your normal machine and I think it gives them a professional looking finish. Must admit, I’ve got my eye on the new Babylock Aspire, coverstitch/overlocker combo machine.

@outofofficeagain I’ve never used Vinted but I’ll take a look. I don’t even use eBay as I’m wary of scammers. I live rurally and a trip to the city is a 90 minute drive, so clothes shopping is an occasional event. Maybe Vinted is the way to go?

SerafinasGoose · 08/11/2025 11:31

This week's weigh-in for me.

SW: 15 st BMI 30
1st GW: 13 st 7 (9% bodyweight)
CW: 13 st 9 lbs BMI 28.3
This week's loss: 3 lbs
Total loss: 19 lbs

I think that's somewhere between a bald eagle and a car tyre! I also had a great moment this week. The dress I'd bought for a friend's autumn wedding no longer fits me so I had to return it. I can now fit into a dress I love that was too small for me last time I tried it on.

My face is also slimmer and I've realised how much my weight-gain was ageing me. My skin's in much better condition now I've dumped all the sugar and processed rubbish from my diet. I still have a glass or two of wine most Friday and Saturday nights.

I'm nearly at my halfway mark of 1.5 st lost, after 3 months. Same amount to go again (at least) but I'm noticing my body composition is very different from when I was this weight before. Age and the perimenopause is making itself visible; I hate the way the weight has sagged around my middle.

I'm also sorry for all who are experiencing such awful side effects. Keep going, everyone. It's worth it. 💜

outofofficeagain · 08/11/2025 11:33

I’m 15st 1 (SW 16,5) so also hoping to tip into the next number down next week.

Vinted is great. I tend to by quality brands that hold their value, but not designer which can be scammy.

Seasalt, boden are my go to. I know their sizes are reliable and know I can resell them (although rarely do!)

@SnowWhiteisMyFavourite @SoUncertain I have to use sedentary in the calculations for TDEE because my ability to move has drastically reduced over the past couple of years due to back and hip issues. So I am concerned that I won’t be able to make back the calories that way.

However I have had a series of gym sessions with a physio and now have some strength exercises which I can do at home. I plan to try to do those three times a week (ha ha) and walk more (which is painful). The lighter I get and the more I train, this should help with walking. But because I feel it is minimal, I tick sedentary.

I am currently 12 stone and am 5 foot 4, hence the calculations I was getting. I need to get to 10.5 stone to reach a healthy weight.

Pinkbox · 08/11/2025 11:44

@Chopsy123 Vinted is good as you are protected as a buyer, you don’t pay until you have inspected the item. I filter the search for ‘new with tags’ and have had shoes, Fly London boots and a denim jacket all brand new and bargainous!

SnowWhiteisMyFavourite · 08/11/2025 12:03

I will check Vinted but I don’t know which brand/size to go for. I’ve been buying from plus size online stores for years. Might need to visit some stores to try the sizing and then look for second hand options.
