I had telephone conversation with the pharmacist where I buy my Mounjaro today and discussing my episodes of diarrhea after almost every jab ( only had one week free in first 8 weeks!), he has advised me to remain on 5mg for another month until the side effects reduce. I am only just feeling that Mounjaro is working ie I don’t always want to eat a full meal and I’m not snacking between meals so hopefully remaining on 5mg will be fine.

However, as my weight loss since on Mounjaro is lower than I achieved on my fasting diet before I started, it will probably be my last month unless my weight loss increases. Unfortunately it looks as if most weight loss medication, injections or tablets, lead to possible diarrhea so I might just go it alone again! Let’s see what happens this month.

I did go to a WI sub group last night where we all make cakes to a theme and sample each others! I made a delicious plum and Cherry brandy cake which was a clear winner in the taste test! But I was able to eat just a tiny piece of each cake instead of the larger portions I would normally have. The uneaten cake I brought home went straight in the freezer until I next have visitors, I was not tempted to even keep one piece for today whereas previously I would have scoffed it for breakfast! That was definitely a win for me!

The group know I am using Mounjaro, I am happy to share my journey, so did not comment on my small portions. Another lady is also using it and I noticed she ate a lot more than me - nothing wrong with that of course, it’s her choice what to eat.

Well done to those of you who are losing lots of weight, I might be jealous but I do like reading success stories even if my journey is not so straight forward.

@OneDayIWillLearn *your life, grammar typo. But again, don’t fret about people being judgemental and certainly don’t feel like you should share anything with anyone if you don’t want to.

JustPickleRick · 05/11/2025 15:54

Ive fallen off the wagon for the first time this week. I was away at the weekend so ate what I had available to me at the time which was normal food. Then I was out on a course yesterday so again, ate what was available to me which wasn't healthy. I will defo be putting on this week 😅🫠 this is a sign I need to jump up too, 2.5 is doing nothing at all now. I have 3 more jab from my 2.5 pen left (2 and a golden dose) wondering if I could do a 3.75 them use a syringe to get another 3.75 the week after. Not sure how I'd do it though 🫠

OneDayIWillLearn · 05/11/2025 16:23

@JustPickleRick I think you’d do a full dose then another of 30 clicks (so you’d be jabbing twice). Or 0.9ml if you’re doing it in a syringe. Don’t quote me though!

Also try not to panic - I’ve often thought ‘I’ve blown it’ but been pleasantly surprised after a couple of good days, once the water retention has settled down, that there’s actually still a loss.

Ah thanks, you’re right! I think most people won’t comment or ask even if (hopefully when!) I get to the stage it is more noticeable but there’s a couple of very close friends who’ve I talked to about weight loss over the years with that might. I guess I had lots of hesitations about it before I started too. So I can kind of understand where people are coming from. But the most important thing is making the right choice for me, you’re definitely right!!

Thank you, i'll try not to be too disheartened when I weigh on friday! 😅
Ahh yes I did think about the full and an extra dose, its the syringe part that im not sure about. If 0.6 is 2.5 then 0.9 does sound right for 3.75

You might be fine, I didn’t take my Jab as usual as we went away at half term, as the days went by I slowly could eat more and then had my usual 2.5 a few days later. I’d lost 1lb! Also it isn’t sustainable to never have a ‘bad’ food choice, I’m happy to have treats as I know I’m eating much much smaller portions of them. We had lovely pub lunches and a delicious Turkish shwarma takeaway, and wine! I just had way less, half portions and the kids scoffed the rest! I also felt I didn’t have the suppression I had so this week I’m trying 3.75 from a 5mg pen as I’m not keen on jumping to 5 as I had such strong suppression when I started I barely ate. So far I’ve had a couple bowls of homemade leek and potato soup as I really wasn’t hungry at all yesterday. I’m aiming for another stone off before Christmas which at the current rate seems doable, but it could slow down!

10/09/25 - SW 16s 4lb - 103.2kg
06/11/25 - CW 14s 12lb - 94.4kg

I don't currently have a goal weight, perhaps
around 10-11 stone? I’m short so the lower range of my healthy BMI is frankly what a child would weigh and I have always had big boobs, curvy hips etc! So the lower end of overweight was always what I weighed even at size 10-12 (why BMI is kind of bollocks). Size 12, feeling happy about the way I look and able to wear what I like without hiding stomach is a good goal

Ihateslugs · 06/11/2025 09:58

Well, big day for me today! I’m off to see the Consultant about knee replacement surgery! I last saw him three years ago when he said they both needed replacing but he’d like me to reduce my BMI first - he did not set me a target though! It has taken until now for me to decide to go through with the surgery, I am so scared of going in hospital, made worse by the fact that my FIL died after having knee replacement surgery when he did not recover properly after the operation. Also I was not in a good place mentally and was definitely comfort eating so put on even more weight over the next year or so.

So, will he think an almost 3 stone loss good enough, I’m still obese, currently weigh over 16 stone, but my BMI has gone down from over 44 to 39?

I was so anxious, I woke up at 4.30 and have not slept since! I don’t know what I am most anxious about, being told he still doesn’t want to operate or the thought of the operation!

Atalosswhat2do · 06/11/2025 12:38

Weigh & Jag day for me today. A nice little 1.2lb loss taking me down to a new number on the scales for November.

SW: 12st 3lb
CW: 10st 13.3lb
GW: 9st 1lb

Week 1: -6lb
Week 2: -2lb
Week 3: -1lb
Week 4: -2lb
Week 5: -3lb
Week 6: -2lb
Week 7: -0.5lb
Week 8: -1.2lb

Total Loss: 1st 3.7lb

@JustPickleRick do a full dose and then a 30clicks for your 3.75g. (Prime the needle both times) I done this last week, used the same needle as the risk of contamination is minuscule. I have 30clicks and golden dose left in my pen this week, which I am about to take by extracting 0.9ml into a syringe. Good luck tomorrow!

@Ihateslugs good luck!! That’s a significant drop in BMI, you’ve done really well. Hope the surgeon has some helpful things to say 🤞

@Ihateslugs Hope your appointment went ok? 🤞

JustPickleRick · 06/11/2025 18:32

Thanks for confirming! I'll give it a go at the weekend. I usually jab on Friday evening but I will do it on Saturday evening this week as I don't fancy being ill whilst I visit the hairdressers 😅 im usually there for a few hours so don't want to jinx it!

3 stone is an amazing loss so I really hope they feel you can go ahead. My mum is in her 70s and has had 2 knee replacements and has done well so hopefully you will too.

Ihateslugs · 06/11/2025 23:50

I was pleased with my visit to the Consultant today, he was happy with my weight loss and reduction in BMI so has recommended me for surgery. I had some more X-rays which clearly shows extensive damage but luckily nothing has “ collapsed” over time which would have complicated things. However, it turned out that the guy I saw, same one as at last visit three years ago, no longer does knee replacements, he’s now the head honcho for complicated knee reconstructions. But he’s such a nice guy and spoke to a colleague to arrange another appointment on Monday to discuss dates, procedures etc. Although I have medical insurance I do have to pay for the initial consultation as an out patient so I’ll have two bills to pay as well as the X-rays. It’s a bit annoying as I specifically asked the hospital when I booked if he was still doing knee replacements! Still, it was worth it to hear his lovely comments about my weight loss and improved walking. He’s already sent me a copy of the letter feeding back to my GP about the visit in which he was very complimentary and encouraging.

So it looks as if an operation is on the cards possibly this side of Christmas with the second one 8 weeks later. Yikes! Now I need to really look into the operation and after care, I’ve never been in hospital apart from when I had my children many years ago and I’m really nervous about having the surgery done without a general anaesthetic, just sedation and an epidural! I might need to get some noise reducing headphones in order to cope, I fidget a lot due to itchy allergies and will find it very difficult to keep still and not scratch!

In fact, I feel sick at the prospect! But I have a goal which is to walk without walking sticks at my son’s wedding next May so I can back out. I’m going to continue on my weight loss journey and would like to lose another 3 stone by then. I need to find out how long I need to be off Mounjaro before the op as apparently you can’t take it as there is a possibility that a general anaesthetic might be used part way through if there are unforeseen complications.

So maybe on Monday I will get a date!

Oh, that's wonderful news @Ihateslugs! I hope everything goes really well for you. My dad very nearly died after his first hip replacement, but pulled through after months in hospital, but he had his other hip replaced a couple of years ago and while it was nerve-wracking at the time, he's really pleased he did it, and it has dramatically improved his quality of life.

I thought I would be staying the same this week, after a well of traveling for work, but I hit my first target!
Start Weight: 211 lbs, BMI 34.1
1st Goal Weight: 190 lbs (10% bodyweight loss) - Achieved 7.11.25! 🎉
2nd goal weight: 185lb (BMI 29.9)
Current Weight: 190 bs, BMI 30.7
Total loss: 21lb
Mounjaro, 2.5
Week 1: -1.4 lb
Week 2: -4.4 lb
Week 3: - 2.6lb
Week 4: - 2.4lb
Week 5: - 1.8lb
Week 6: - 2.4lb
Week 7: -2.6lb
Week 8: -1.6lb
Week 9: -1.8lb
I'm so pleased! In 2 calendar months, I've managed to lose 10% of my bodyweight and a quarter of my overall weight loss goal and I've managed to set up good enough habits to keep losing weight when travelling, ill, and during a glut of birthday parties even though my 2.5mg dose is losing effectiveness!

Two weeks since I checked in with this thread. I was away all of last week as there had been a death in my husband’s family and it was the funeral. My in laws are very big on communal eating, even breakfast, so although I was open about the WLI, I wasn’t really in control as much as I would have liked to have been. I did restrict, and tried to track as best I could (it’s hard when someone else is cooking), but there were still a lot more carbs than I would ordinarily eat and a certain amount of social pressure to just eat with everyone else. Also just a lot of sitting about either in the car or the house.

So after that week I’d lost no weight, which was disappointing but maybe not surprising. More back on track this week and I’ve lost another 1lb since Monday morning, so that’s 12lbs gone since late September. Would have liked to have hit my first stone by now but i guess I need to be patient.

I’m still on a low dose - 3.75mg - and while it’s definitely having an effect and helping regulate my eating on a normal day, I found in the various social situations I was in last week that I could have happily eaten more, so not sure it’s giving me massive physical suppression. I had to make conscious mindful choices to refuse the slice of cake etc. although it’s definitely easier on MJ.

Boredom and social situations feel like risk zones for me.

Chopsy123 · 07/11/2025 08:57

@Ihateslugs that’s brilliant news. I’m so pleased for you. 🎉

@UnimaginableWindBird Wow, 10% loss already. Keep on doing what you’re doing and you’ll be reaching your goal soon enough. 👌

@GhostOrchid Gosh, that sounds like a tricky week to navigate but you’ve done really well and it’s given you the confidence to say “no” to cake at the in-laws. No mean feat I’m sure when some people view feeding others as their love language. My mum was a bugger for baking cakes, especially rich fruit cakes. 😳

@Atalosswhat2do You're making really good progress. When did you move up to 3.75mg? Has it made a big difference do you think? I’m still debating what to take later today from my 5mg pen. I’m still on 2.5mg.

Chopsy123 · 07/11/2025 10:07

I’ve got horrible constipation today. 😩
Please give me your ‘go to’ remedies and I can pop to the shops later.

I’ve already been drinking coffee, water, prune juice and eating dried prunes in a bit to make it move.

SnowWhiteisMyFavourite · 07/11/2025 10:38

@Chopsy123 I took Dulcolax Pico Liquid as a last resort when I was really constipated. One spoonful in the evening and needed toilet first thing in the morning plus had to go a few extra times with not much warning. This did cause some stomach cramps but luckily I was home.

hope you feel better soon, it’s horrible!

Shwighty1 · 07/11/2025 11:26

Hey checking in with everyone, it’s been an insanely busy couple of weeks, I’m still in 2.5mg steadily losing, in to the next stone bracket which is motivating in itself. Really great to hear about all the successes small and otherwise!

I’m feeling pretty good about food choices at the Mo, however I had a really really stressful day with lots of work drama and consoled myself with a large bag of crisps. It was obviously an a familiar stress response! Couldn’t believe it really.

Old habits really do die hard!

bluepaperwaspofbxl · 07/11/2025 13:49

@Ihateslugs That's terrific news! I hope all goes well for you.

@Chopsy123 Movicol and fybogel here for my husband. He hates fybogel, but if he chugs it before it thickens it's bearable. Glycerin suppositories for constipation that feels painful work.

Atalosswhat2do · 07/11/2025 15:15

@Chopsy123I tried 3.75 last week for the first time out of sheer curiosity. 🫣 I have noticed suppression is definitely stronger, it lasted the full 7 days, I did 3.75 again yesterday to finish off my second pen. My 3rd Pen is a 5, which I intended to just do 2.5 from, but I am probably going to continue at 3.75 as I haven’t had any side effects and I feel great.

wodantimbercoaster · 07/11/2025 15:41

Weigh in this morning. I purposely skipped my weekly weigh in last Friday as I'd been on holiday for the week and whilst I'd been reasonably good, I had definitely been more relaxed. On past diets, I've become so unmotivated at any setbacks I thought it was better to skip the weigh in, in case I'd put on anything! So weighed this morning and I'm down 2lb from my last weigh in 2 weeks ago, so I'll take that as a win. So that's a loss of 24lbs since 4th September, which I'm happy with. I also decided yesterday that I would move up from 2.5mg, so last night I took 3.75mg. I had noticed a real reduction in suppression and also found myself thinking about food a lot more. Really hoping I can lose another 4lb in the next couple of weeks so I can say I've lost 2 stone! So far the up in dose last night seems to be doing the trick, zero hunger pangs and zero food noise. Will be interesting to see how many days it lasts. I'm keen to put off going up to the full 5mg for as long as possible. We'll see!
