I like reading people's weigh-in on the long-running threats where you can see how effective that consistent steady weight loss is over 9 months. Most people's stats don't look wildly impressive when looked at on a small scale - 6. weeks or so of 2lb a week, then a steady 1-1.5lbs a week with a few stay the the same weeks, a few weight gain weeks and a few weeks of big whoosh losses, but after a year or so they have lost 5 or 6 stone and are maintaining with a BMI of 22 or so.

It's not so much that they lose a massive amount each week, more that they are absolutely consistent and don't go off the rails and put all the weight back on after 4 months.

This is such a good point. Almost everyone can stick to a diet for a month or two even without WLI and almost everyone gets the biggest losses to start with. The difficult bit is how to keep you sticking with it month after month when the losses get to that 1lb a week bit and your motivation wains and boredom and borderline insanity from constantly restricting yourself grows!

That 1lb a week loss is easy to sniff at but it still equates to a 500 calorie deficit every single day of the week!! which is actually massive!

OneDayIWillLearn · 22/10/2025 18:41

I was back down to 12 stone 9.75 lbs this morning after my blip of 13 stone 1lb on Monday (thanks period!). I’m not officially counting it as it isn’t weigh-in day, but it is reassuring to see. At that weight I’m about a stone down, after 6 and a half weeks.

My jeans are starting to feel slightly looser which is nice. I’m still only at a weight I spent most of last year around though so I’m not expecting anyone to notice anytime soon.

This is the answer I think. It's fun to lose a massive amount in a week but if we want it to be sustainable and not have too many issues from dropping weight too quickly, a couple of lbs a week is ideal. A lb a week is over three and a half stone a year, 2 lbs a week is almost 7 and a half, or over 100lbs!

bluepaperwaspofbxl · 22/10/2025 23:38

After initial sudden weight drop, I’m quite reassured that it’s not going at a huge pace, or I’d be fretting about looking gaunt and losing my body shape to muscle loss. Saying that, not everyone slows down. My husband started same day as me and has lost 12kg in 5 weeks (a couple of lbs off 2 stone). He still looks fine, actually he is looking great and feels so much better. These past weeks for him have been transformational.
The best part for me is not thinking about what I’m missing and not needing to use any willpower.

SoUncertain · 22/10/2025 23:40

I feel the same @bluepaperwaspofbxl. It just takes the constant drudgery and food noise out of weight loss, which has always dragged me down in the past. I'm sure you're doing fantastically too. Glad your DH is feeling so good too :)

Ihateslugs · 23/10/2025 08:19

Those of you who have commented on the slow but steady loss being more sustainable are so right and maybe I need to accept that. I think I just want to have a bigger loss by using WLIs than when I was dieting on my own and to speed up my surgery.

I have though started to feel some positive impact of the 5mg jabs, last night I made myself a beefed up tuna salad that was less than 500 calories and was only able to eat a few mouthfuls without feeling full! I managed to eat about half of it before giving up but later on I enjoyed some frozen berries with a little Greek yogurt. I also did not fancy my dinner the night before so ended up having a couple of slices of toast at about 10 pm. So maybe food suppression has finally kicked in!

If that’s the case then I will order another 5mg pen even if I still get diarrhoea after jabs 7 and 8 as I could drop down to half doses if the knee surgeon tells me to at my appointment in four weeks. I’m not sure what the pharmacist that I am using to get the Mounjaro thinks about counting clicks but I will see what he says.

Atalosswhat2do · 23/10/2025 11:30

Weigh in day for me, another 2lb off this week! 🥳

I track my calories in & out every single day, I’ve checked this morning and I have had a total deficit of 47,305 calories over the last 6 weeks. I am so proud of me today, and so grateful to 6 weeks ago me who took the decision to change my life for the better!

SW: 12st 3lb
CW: 11st 1lb
GW: 9st 1lb

Week 1: -6lb
Week 2: -2lb
Week 3: -1lb
Week 4: -2lb
Week 5: -3lb
Week 6: -2lb

Total Loss: 16lb

Good luck to everyone weighing & jabbing today!

lulu1921 · 23/10/2025 12:31

Hi Everyone,
I wish I had kept up with postings more as I've had a bit of a brain fart I think.
I went to take what I thought was my 4th jab this week, got prepped and put the new needle on and then the pen wouldn't turn, there looks like so much still in there, like half an inch, is this the golden dose you mention?

I was so confused, especially as I just thought the would be 4 needles for 4 doses so why did I need to use a new pen, wahhhh, my brain isn't functioning these days, not MJ related, it's pre-menopausal brain fog. I swear I don't know what month it is, let alone the day!

Chopsy123 · 23/10/2025 16:51

@lulu1921 Yes, that’s the Golden dose, in fact, there’s usually a bit more than the standard dose left.

If you haven’t thrown it away, you can buy an insulin syringe and easily extract it for a fifth dose, if you wanted to. I did that with my first pen and plan to do it with this one too at the end of next week, for my tenth jab.

Chopsy123 · 23/10/2025 16:53

@Atalosswhat2do you’re making excellent progress.👏👏

I’m a bit envious as your starting weight is what I’m hoping to get to by the end of January. 😂

OneDayIWillLearn · 23/10/2025 18:50

@Ihateslugs that’s encouraging that you’re getting some suppression at last! It’s what makes all the difference (for me at least) compared to ‘normal’ dieting.

I suspect that your faster weight loss in the first couple of months may have been classic early weight loss, which is often when you get the big losses. And perhaps now you’re in the inevitably slower bit (which would have come anyway, even if you weren’t on WLI). It’ll be interesting to hear what your pharmacist says though.

OneDayIWillLearn · 23/10/2025 18:55

I’m slightly dreading the weekend - we’re going away to stay with my in-laws. They’re nice but I’m not that close to them as they’re quite reserved and have always lived quite far away. My MiL doesn’t really like cooking anymore due to health issues so apparently the menu for the weekend is: Friday night Domino’s, Saturday: pub lunch, Sunday night, they will babysit for us to go out for dinner again. It would definitely offend them if I tried to ‘do my own thing’ food wise so I think I’m just going to have to try and keep portions small and make the best choices I can. I’m worried about having another D and V episode in the middle of the night like last weekend though!!

Anyone been through a weekend like this and got any tips for me??

UnimaginableWindBird · 23/10/2025 21:18

I had a quick look at the Dominoes menu and you can have loaded veg and one of the chicken options. And pub menus usually also have ok things to eat.

Ihateslugs · 23/10/2025 22:31

Recently when I go for a pub meal, I’ve usually had plain roast chicken of some kind with a jacket potato and salad side order. I don’t order a starter but might have a single scoop of sorbet if we are there for a long time.

I know how you feel about the chance of a d and v episode, I’ve just moved my jab day a couple of times to avoid a social event in the following two days! It’s a bit boring staying in but better than being caught short in the pub or driving home!

Could you take a bowl into the bedroom with you and a couple of extra towels just in case? Also have some strong plastic bags handy if you need to wrap soiled things up! You can tell that I’ve been struggling with the same side effects and have had to look after myself as I live alone - don’t need to worry about disturbing anyone but there’s only me to do any cleaning up!

JustPickleRick · 24/10/2025 07:21

Expected this mornings weigh in to be minimal or even a gain as I went out for a meal and had a couple of cakes through the week 😅....

3lb down 🫠 not sure how thats happened!

SW: 12st 9
CW: 10st 6

Im worried about tonight now as i've bought a 5mg pen and was going to do my first jab with it but part of me is now saying why on earth am I moving up?! Yes i'm feeling more hungry and having to use will-power BUT i'm losing 🤔

Kazzaa46 · 24/10/2025 07:33

So I found out MJ and alcohol are not a good mix for me. Went for a meal for my friend’s birthday. First time I’ve had alcohol in 5.5 weeks on my journey. I had about half a bottle of wine and a spirit and mixer which I couldn’t finish. A couple of hours later I felt so sick which kept waking me up until about 2am. Safe to say I won’t be drinking again 🤢

SnowWhiteisMyFavourite · 24/10/2025 08:25

@OneDayIWillLearn snap! I’m also spending the weekend with in-laws. Last night we had McDonald’s on our way (I opted for chicken burger but didn’t eat the bun), tonight’s going to be a take away and Sunday a pub lunch. I will just try to keep my portion sizes small. I did bring my own breakfast (yogurt and fruits) to avoid full English 😀

Elliebearblues · 24/10/2025 08:51

Hi all, did anyone get supression on 2.5mg?
I’ve been on MJ for 3 weeks so far losing weight very slowly - 4.2lb in 3 weeks not a great load but I suppose at least it’s a loss considering I don’t have any food supression

Shwighty1 · 24/10/2025 08:57

I’m still on 2.5 and planning on staying on it for as long as possible.

Weigh in day for me
SW 14:12
CW 14:1
TW 11:7 ( I think)

really pleased with that as I suspected I wasn’t losing anymore!!

I got a bit of suppression on 2.5mg but not loads. 3.75mg has been noticeably stronger in terms of suppression, for the two weeks I’ve done it. 2.5mg is only meant to be an introductory dose to get your body used to it so I think that’s quite normal, though some people seem to get enough suppression on it (and/ or don’t mind using willpower alongside fairly low suppression).

Glad I’m not the only one then 😂. Yeah I think it’s just going to be a case of small portions. We’re taking a big bag of fruit!

Weigh-in day.

SW 15st BMI 30
1st TW 13 st 7
CW 13 st 13 lbs BMI 28.9

1lb loss this week after stalling for a couple of weeks. I’ve had a truly horrible period which probably hasn’t helped!

I had suppression in the first week but then it was off and on weeks 2-4. I had to move up doses as it wasn’t working that well but I still lost 12lb so it did something somehow 😆

UnimaginableWindBird · 24/10/2025 10:24

Weigh in day for me. I've ordered my third pen at 2.5 mg, as although I am not having huge suppression, I am still losing weight at a slightly faster rate than I would like.

My experience on 2.5 mg is that I feel hungry and get stomach rumbles before meals and if I don't eat enough early in the day, I want to snack in the evenings. My appetite varies - I definitely need to eat more if I've been lifting weights that day. But even though I get hungry and want food, I don't want to binge out comfort rest, which was my weight gain downfall. I have ADHD and used food as a stim and a reward for doing boring tasks, and on 2.5 mg, I just don't need that any more.

Start Weight: 211 lbs, BMI 34.1
1st Goal Weight: 190 lbs (10% bodyweight loss)
Current Weight: 193.4 lbs, BMI 31.5
Total loss: 17.6 lb

Weigh in day for me, and it's been a good week. I'm now less than 4lb from my first goal of losing 10% of my bodyweight.

Mounjaro, 2.5
Week 1: -1.4 lb
Week 2: -4.4 lb
Week 3: - 2.6lb
Week 4: - 2.4lb

This was helpful to read as im similar. I regret buying a 5mg pen so I will dose 2.5 from it for 5 weeks max and then just waste the rest. I'll order 2.5 again next time!
