@SoUncertain I get bruised and have a swelling on the injection site each time. It fades over the week, but I am starting to look like a pin cushion.

Start of week 6 for me. Based on a couple of really weird nights sleep and a modest 0.6kg loss over the past week, I'm sliding back down to 2.5mg, but going to inject a day earlier and see how it goes. Have also picked up the lurgy from my boy and have had daily migraines, so not feeling great.
SW 86.5kg
CW 79.3kg

ladygin · 21/10/2025 18:23

Omg I hate the 5mg - constipation, which I’ve never had in my life, nausea, headaches, tiredness. And I wonder if it’s making me anxious (although that could be hormonal)

Any tips for surviving or reducing the constipation? I am drinking loads of water, have resorted to ducolax or whatever it’s called.

send positive vibes!!!!

Hiya I’m procrastinating about ordering the 7.5 jab, think I need to give it a go but panicking I’ll feel rough. Please reassure me 😊 started 01/09 and lost 20lbs xx

outofofficeagain · 21/10/2025 21:43

Argh, I saw my sister this evening.

She is very slim and very judgey. I have not told her I’m on WLI. She went on a big rant about how everyone is on the and how ridiculous’ it is.

I kept quiet and changed the subject.

I would find that quite funny, probably bc if my mum knew she would be the same and would never shut up about it, but that ain’t happening haha.

Chopsy123 · 21/10/2025 22:24

@Wendalicious I’m confused. Why do you want to move up a dose if you’re steadily losing OK on a lower dose?

Wendalicious · 21/10/2025 23:33

i assumed (maybe incorrectly) that you move up each time you re order? Thanks a lot xx

outofofficeagain · 22/10/2025 06:36

@Wendaliciousthey encourage (more expensive) you to but many people stay on a dose until it stops working.

I’ve been on 2.5 for 2 months. Am moving up to 5 but hoping I won’t go beyond that.

I’ve suffered with constipation since I started on 2.5. I’m on week 6 now, currently taking 3.75 and I would say it’s getting better over time. I’ve tried the fibre gummies which didn’t work for me. I just drink plenty of water and take 2 sennokot when needed. It seems to be a side effect that you just have to ride through but mine is definitely improving

Kazzaa46 · 22/10/2025 07:13

A further 1.5 lost this week 😊

W1: 5.5 lb
W2: 1.5lb
W3: 3lb
W4: 2lb
W5: 1.5lb
Total: 13.5lb

Not sure why my other post above is hidden, I was only replying to a comment re constipation 🤣

Chopsy123 · 22/10/2025 08:02

Well done @Kazzaa46, you’re doing brilliantly!

@Wendalicious
Yes, some pharmacies tend to recommend going up a dose each month, as that’s what the Pharmaceutical companies advised initially.

However, my GP advised me to stay on the lowest dose that is still enabling me to lose weight and only move up a dose when it starts to get less effective.

I think one reason is to reduce the side effects as they usually worsen when you move up a dose and as your body gets used to it, they normally lesson each time you take your same strength dose.

Secondly, you have to think about when you’ve reached your goal weight and need to titrate back down through the doses to the lowest one you can live with longer term.

Some people will be to stop the drugs completely and manage their weight by healthy eating and exercise alone but others will need to stay on the drugs longer term and presumably reduce to the lowest dose that’s effective for them to prevent them overeating.

She told me she warns all her patients before starting that some of them will be on WLI or tablets forever. 😳

But she’s only prescribing the drugs to people like me who need to lose at least around 5 stones or more. Also, I’m in Ireland and we still have to pay privately for the drugs but a GP will provide a prescription if you meet certain criteria. I’m buying mine from Northern Ireland and getting them posted down to the south by DPD as it’s much cheaper than buying from my local chemist.

Morning all! Happy sunny day - calm before the storm here?

I had a sneaky jump on the scales this morning because Sunday's usual weigh in was slightly disappointing - another 1.5lb off since then, which considering I have been mostly bed bound is very reassuring! My appetite has fallen off a cliff, but I genuinely think that's meds and inactivity on top of MJ.

I'm not counting today's weigh officially, just wanted to reassure myself that things are still moving.

So, officially this week (from sunday gone) my stats are:

SW: 19st 1lb
CW: 17st 4lb
GW: 13st (will hopefully change this once I get there)

@Kazzaa46 well done! Solid results you're getting - how wonderful. You must (should) be very pleased.

@outofofficeagain I've been rumbled by DM. She wasn't best pleased but has at least, finally - now I'm in my 30s - learned that I am an adult that can and will do whatever I want! Grin Hopefully your sister will be more understanding if she does find out.

@ladygin I've also struggled with this throughout. I find chia seeds are actually very helpful. Also, when struggling a lot, senna. Generally, I just have to wait though. Things do move, but not as frequently as before. My recent lot of opiate painkillers made this awful though and I had to use both senna and laxido. Felt horrendous!! Lots of water will be helping, even if you don't feel it is, and you can try the old usuals of things like figs. Kiwis and raspberries are supposed to be very good too.

Feeling a bit low 😩
i don’t want to know my weight so I’m doing this through the pharmacy who does weight management, he weighs me and just tells me at the moment how much I’m losing
4 weeks I lost 5.4kg
im now on 6 weeks so got 2 weeks to go, but I just feel that im not losing anything - does anyone else feel like this?
il literally eating 1/4 of normal, and I love wine, but cut that down (a bit) too. I think im just feeling 🫣😑
does anti e else think oh I can’t believe I’ve lost anything yet find they’ve loat some/ loads?

Elliebearblues · 22/10/2025 13:54

I started MJ just over 2 weeks ago (3rd jab was Monday) I’ve heard some people are losing loads but so far I’ve lost 2.8lbs which isn’t much at all - 3rd weigh in will be Fri.. I don’t know I feel like all the side effects and feeling rubbish I’ve had lately and is it really worth the effort of feeling like that…
I know 2.5mg is a starter dose and was wondering do the losses really get better the longer your on it? Is there a light at the end of the tunnel?

SilenceInside · 22/10/2025 14:01

@Elliebearblues I hope you don't mind me posting as someone who's been using Mounjaro for well over a year.... it doesn't really matter what each week's specific loss is. The point is that over the months it all adds up. It's the ability to be consistent that produces the long term results. You are right that the 2.5mg dose for the first 4 weeks is not intended to produce significant weight loss, although it can happen for some. You have lost 3 lbs in just over two weeks. That's a decent rate of loss on any weight loss programme - 1 to 2 pounds a week. Of course there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Thank you for taking the time to reply, I’ve tried so many diets etc. and I think I’m just scared that I’ll be the one person it doesn't work for if you know what I mean. I do need to look at the bigger picture and just keep going. Thanks again

Oh god, yes!! So funny. This was me yesterday morning. I try to only weigh myself once a month to avoid the happiness/disappointment cycle. But I weighed yesterday after a couple of weeks, as I was utterly convinced I'd gained, and needed to decide whether to stay on 2.5 for the order of my 4th pen, or go up to 5.. I was just hoping madly I'd at least just stayed the same. But I'd lost 6lbs! I think I have bad premenstrual bloat which wasn't helping. I read a poster on hlthese boards saying she was just starting to really trust in the process, and I see her point now I think!

So currently...

SW: 15 st, 11 lbs
CW: 14 st, 3 lbs.
GW: 12 stone ish

This is me I’m so impatient and when I hear of others losing 1stone in a month I’m like I’ve lost 3lbs in 2 weeks and that’s rubbish

It's honestly not in the least bit rubbish! It's a brilliant, steady loss; exactly what they recommend... 1 to 2 lbs a week. Some people seem to have a big whoosh in their first week (usually mostly water weight), while others start off more steadily. I have had the odd week of no loss, or very little, followed by more of a whoosh week. But when I look back, despite me being one of the ones that had a big loss the first week, it's still evened out at about 2lbs a week, which I'm very happy with. I don't want it to go any quicker than that.

You're doing great! In a few weeks you'll look back and be happy and realise you had nothing to worry about
Trust in the process!

I know exactly how you feel, as I feel the same! I actually lost 26lbs in around 4 months before I started on Mounjaro and since then have only lost 7 lbs in 6 weeks! I am due to inject my 7th dose on Friday and will then make an appointment with my local pharmacy to discuss the next order.

Based on the side effects I have experienced, I definitely will not go up to 7.5 any time soon, they are playing havoc with my social life! On either the next day or the second day after injecting I have had Wk 1 and week 2 diarrhoea, Wk 3 and 4 severe constipation, then back to diarrhoea in Wis 5 and 6!

I’m almost thinking of stopping using WLI, I wanted to increase my weight loss for a few months so I can have knee replacement surgery, hopefully before Christmas. I think I’ll have to stop taking them anyway prior to going into hospital, that’s something I need to discuss with the consultant at my next appointment.

As I seem to be losing less weight while on Mounjaro, no idea why as I’m eating pretty much the same as I did before when dieting, I’m definitely slightly under my calorie deficit although as I wasn’t really counting calories before , I am not sure by how much. I was eating healthy meals, mainly salads, proteins and fruit while following 16:8 intermittent fasting plan.

I actually feel hungrier now than I did then and really have to use my will power to avoid binge eating!

I think the pharmacist will suggesting changing to Wegovy or another drug but as they are reported to have less success than Mounjaro it will take a lot of convincing for me to carry on. Under the deal I have with the pharmacy, I will get supported for 2 years even if I take a break, without having to re enrol so I guess I could stop then resume after both my knee replacement operations and the recovery, probably next April.

I had diarrhoea from Fri to Monday it was awful. I don’t blame you thinking about stopping, if I was having side effects like you I’d seriously consider stopping too.

SerafinasGoose · 22/10/2025 16:27

I've lost a stone and now stalled. I can't complain about the pace of loss at first, but now been at 14 stone for nearly 3 weeks. I'd been on the go 7 weeks when the plateau started - apparently things do slow down significantly after 6 weeks.

These are the phases where it gets hard, but going back to where I started is not an option so I have to ride it out. Trying to focus on a bigger picture here.

UnimaginableWindBird · 22/10/2025 17:40

I like reading people's weigh-in on the long-running threats where you can see how effective that consistent steady weight loss is over 9 months. Most people's stats don't look wildly impressive when looked at on a small scale - 6. weeks or so of 2lb a week, then a steady 1-1.5lbs a week with a few stay the the same weeks, a few weight gain weeks and a few weeks of big whoosh losses, but after a year or so they have lost 5 or 6 stone and are maintaining with a BMI of 22 or so.

It's not so much that they lose a massive amount each week, more that they are absolutely consistent and don't go off the rails and put all the weight back on after 4 months.
