I took my 8th jab yesterday pm and weighed this morning.

Only lost half a pound this week although I know my joggers that I wear around the house are very loose on the waist. I’d already taken them in previously so I’m going to ditch them now.

I also had to alter the waistband on some stretchy denims I’d made in the summer as they felt too loose at the back.

I’m working my way through some bags of older clothes that I kept ‘just in case I lost weight’ 😂
I don’t want to buy anything new until I’m near my goal weight as I can’t really afford it.

familyornot · 18/10/2025 12:59

Just finished Wk 4 of 2.5, I still have good suppression so I ordered 2.5 again for the next month. I’m thinking of ordering a 5mg pen and just moving up when I need to. My side effects are minimal apart from suppression on 2.5 but expecting more on 5mg so I’m holding off.

SW: 18st 5lbs
CW: 17st 3.5lbs
GW: 10st 5lbs
14.5lbs lost

Pre MJ I lost 1st 6lbs through diet and exercise but after that initial loss I’ve been yo-yoing with 7lbs, so that’s why I started. I’ve never managed more than 2.5 stone off so I’m looking forward to passing that. It’s hard to imagine it will happen though, I’d convinced myself I would be obese forever.

I’ve not really had any appetite suppression either since starting on Mounjaro, I took my second 5mg jab yesterday and am also relying on will power! Luckily my previous few months dieting by intermittent fasting has helped get used to that!

I seem to think more about food now as well, now that I’m counting calories rather than mainly choosing healthy meals with no snacking, I spend too much time planning what to eat for my next meal!

I’m also having second thoughts about continuing mainly due to the awful side effects I am having a couple of days after each jab - let’s just say I spend far too much time in the bathroom! I will finish this pen then talk to the pharmacist at the shop I buy my Mounjaro from about what to do. I have proved to myself that I can diet without taking WLIs but I was hoping I would lose more weight than before. I seem to have slowed down my weight loss instead!

I jabbed a day early this week so that if I have a dodgy tummy again it would occur over the weekend rather than on Monday or Tuesday when I am very busy.

Yes, unfortunately, it sounds similar re lack of appetite suppression. I think I would possibly have to go up to a higher dose to fully experience the benefits others are having, but the risk of even worse insomnia/anxiety makes that not worth it, plus I can't really afford almost £200 for a 7.5mg pen. I will wait and see how the next few days go to see if I do the final jabs on this pen then possibly come off and see if I can lose/maintain on my own.

@Ihateslugs have you thought about going back to healthy meals and avoiding snacks like you were before rather than calorie counting? Sounds like it was working for you and not everyone calorie counts on WLI. I have been calorie counting but I think I’m going to stop as it drives me a bit bonkers!

I am having quite a rough week. I did my 3rd jab of my 5mg pen on Monday and have had really awful sleep since then. This involves waking at 2.30am every day and sometimes not being able to go back to sleep at all as my mind is racing. I have also had zero appetite suppression since I started taking mounjaro and have had to rely on willpower alone, which is so difficult when tired. I'm really not sure whether it's worth me continuing with the last two doses, but at the same time I have lost 13lb and don't want to gain that back. Really difficult to know what to do. No weight loss this week so far.

Sorry you’re having a rough week. It clearly must be helping as you’ve lost 13lb and your willpower will have definitely played a part. That’s odd you keep waking up must be horrible , I keep having weird dreams but do manage to get back to sleep. Maybe try 1 more week and go from there perhaps?

The scale dosnt always give the true picture does it and I think we do obsess over it to much. I know what you mean about not wanting to buy more clothes until you’re at goal weight. I’m new to these weight loss jabs so havnt noticed anything clothes wise yet as I’ve only lost about half a stone so far

Bugling · 18/10/2025 15:58

I don’t calorie count at all, some days I don’t want to eat much at all and some I find I can eat more, I’m just eating mindfully when I want to and don’t have any urge to eat sugary things etc. For me, taking an appetite suppressant and then forcing myself to eat a certain amount of calories a day seems counterintuitive. One thing Mounjaro has done is that I’m basically naturally doing intermittent fasting, I have never been a breakfast person as I’m never hungry in the first hours of the day, but this means I’m usually not hungry until 1-2 in the afternoon so I have a small late lunch and dinner. So it’s worked out as a 16 hour off 8 hour eating window. I think that has helped so far. I’m not advocating for barely eating but this is an appetite suppressant first and foremost at whatever level works. It’s an odd feeling, I was just making my child some toast and the smell was amazing and I thought “I’m having some toast for sure” then when it was on his plate I looked at it and had no urge whatsoever to eat it. This is a bit of a victory as toast is somewhat of a downfall for me, I’d usually eat some toast at random points in the day!

Yes, I’m considering that but most of my meals were salads with some protein such as chicken, salmon, prawns, tuna, steak etc and now it’s getting cold I want warm casseroles! In reality I still eat snack type things but with my meal, rather than in between. I like a packet of crisps most days, I buy Walkers ones that have 80 to 90 calories a bag.

To a basic salad I add all sorts of things choosing between grapes, carrots, croutons, olives, feta or blue cheese cubes, seeds, beetroot, nuts, apples, sweetcorn, chickpeas - not all at once! I think my salads were still less calories than the casseroles I’ve made the last couple of weeks so I will go back to salad, in fact I bought some fresh foods this week but am avoiding them for a couple of days as I think the extra fibre and roughage I was eating added to the Mounjaro diarrhoea!

I have had to eat some extra things to help with the constipation I now get, so have been eating a few prunes, berries with full fat yogurt, granola, kiwi fruit and popcorn which are recommended by the NHS to help loosen stools. I’m still keeping below 1400 calories but the obsession with counting every morsel added to my constant thoughts about food which is not good.

Ive got a homemade tuna, sweetcorn and chickpea casserole for tonight then it’s back to salad, I can always make some delicious home made soup in my soup maker if I want hot food. So far today I have had two small homemade banana oat cookies, a packet of Walkers French fries, two hard boiled eggs with 2 slices of medium thick seeded bread followed by an apple. I’ll have some popcorn later and after my tea I’m having frozen berries with Greek yogurt and a little granola topping, followed by my daily dose of roughage - a couple of kiwis and some prunes!

Im not going to count calories again but I reckon I’ll be eating about 1200 - 1300 calories in that lot. The thing is though that what I eat has to be sustainable long term when I stop using WLIs, I’m not sure I’ll be happy on salad every meal long term!

Bugling · 18/10/2025 16:11

I’ve also had a wakeful week, not being able to sleep until late which is difficult as I’m often up for a few hours a night as I have a child who requires care during the night (so I’ve not really slept for 8 years anyway!) I didn’t think it was jab related but a few people have now mentioned this! I usually fall asleep between 9-10 and am generally up between 2-5 with said child, but not being able to sleep until midnight has been weird.

Pinkbox · 18/10/2025 22:53

I have had the most vivid and sometimes alarming dreams over the past 4.5 weeks, I assume from the Mounjaro.

namechange0998776554799000 · 19/10/2025 07:31

Same here, first jab of 5mg on Thursday and terrible sleep since!

OneDayIWillLearn · 19/10/2025 08:05

Oh dear, woke up in the middle of the night with a sudden attack of diarrhoea and vomiting - sorry TMI, but literally both ends at the same time!! We’re away for the weekend with no kids for my birthday so I have definitely been eating and drinking a bit more and richer food than during the week, but my suppression has still been quite high and I’ve not any side effects since I’d started MJ so I thought I’d get away with it. Not so it seems!

I suppose it could just be food poisoning and be coincidence, but I felt much better as soon as it was out and feel ok this morning. Feeling a bit chastened though!

OneDayIWillLearn · 19/10/2025 08:13

@Ihateslugs I think casseroles and soups sound like a great idea - I think it’s so important to eat things you actually feel like and want to eat!

If you’re looking for inspiration, I love the Roasting Tin recipe books (Green Roasting Tin and Quick Roasting Tin are my favourites), which are great and have lots of hearty dishes - they’re not designed to be a diet book but if you look carefully, lots of the recipes lend themselves to healthy eating and there are warm salads and generally the kind of things you feel like eating in autumn.

Chopsy123 · 19/10/2025 08:25

@OneDayIWillLearn Hope you’re feeling better this morning and Happy Birthday!

Yes, I don’t think you can eat very much fatty or rich foods on MJ without having bad side effects. 🙁

Maybe it causes the same effects as when you have your gallbladder removed? My friend has hers removed a few years ago and gets very unwell if she accidentally over indulges.

Chopsy123 · 19/10/2025 08:41

@SoUncertain I’ve read previous MJ threads on here and a few posters have mentioned itchy skin or a rash around the injection site.

One group of posters have blamed needles supplied by BD Viva needles saying they have a coating on them that can cause itchiness and switching needle brands resolved the problem.

Another couple of posters said that if they have any large drips of liquid from priming the pen that touch the skin, that can cause itchiness too. I think they blot the tip with the antiseptic wipe before injecting.

JustPickleRick · 19/10/2025 08:43

I booked a holiday yesterday for next summer as another incentive to keep going 🤩

I keep telling myself I WILL be comfortable around the pool this year!

I wonder how much I can lose in the next 10 months 🤔 my ideal goal would be around 8 stone 7.

Does anyone else have any holidays booked? I have always hated going away previously, always felt really self conscious at the pool and hated walking around as I got out of breath 🫠 onwards and upwards!

I had my gallbladder removed 13 years ago and can & have eaten all kinds of fatty foods since then with no issues.

I've even had some cheeky foods since then - e.g. German donor kebab, red thai curry, chips

I had the same experience the first few times I jabbed, and found the advice to wipe press the antiseptic wipe on the injection site after jabbing. Since I started doing that I've not had the problem

I’ll have a look at this, I find a lot of chicken casseroles are fairly low calorie - as long as there no cream in the sauce!

Ihateslugs · 19/10/2025 11:09

So, usual pattern here, jab 6 on Thursday evening, burping and diarrhoea last night! Going up to 5 mg seems to have made no difference in side effects. At the moment I cannot arrange any social events over the weekend in case I get an attack while I’m out!

I need to think what to eat today to help settle my stomach, I don’t think my tuna and chickpea mega salad is a good choice! Do you think homemade mushroom soup would be ok? Or I could have a jacket potato although I’m not sure what topping I could have. I am unable to walk far enough to go shopping so rely on grocery deliveries which limits my options as I don’t need a food shop until later this week.

Fair enough, it was only anecdotal. 😂

I’ve been cautious about eating fatty foods on MJ as it definitely makes me feel queasy afterwards.

Have you noticed any difference now you’re on WLI?

Chopsy123 · 19/10/2025 11:39

@Ihateslugs I’d go for foods that are fairly alkaline. Do you have any bananas or something fairly bland?

OneDayIWillLearn · 19/10/2025 12:26

@Ihateslugs agree, I’d usually go bland and carb-y to settle a stomach. Toast? Baked potato with tuna? I had a small yoghurt and a sweet waffle for breakfast which has sat fine after last nights episode!

Ihateslugs · 19/10/2025 12:48

Thanks, I do have some bananas and also some tuna so baked potato it is!

Oh brilliant where have you booked to go?

We have Egypt booked for next summer! The resort has a water park and I have already promised my boys I WILL be on the slides every day! 😂

My goal weight is 9st 1, so I’m completely confident I will be there well before we go on holiday!
