For hair, minoxidil. It works. Needs to be used consistently though once you start.

BreezyPeer · 30/09/2025 21:19

I started on a multivitamin specifically for hair and nails when I started on MJ. My hair has always been very thick and I think it is still thick but the shower drain tells a different story 🙃 However, my nails are amazing! I used to have to have gels to let them grow but now they are super strong 💪 ❤️

Polkadotdash · 30/09/2025 21:46

I bought the Bonne Maman jam advent calendar today as it was payday and I needed cheering up. I bloody hate Christmas as well! My husband asked me if I was losing the plot. I’m hoping daily mini jam jars can get me through December!

myladyjane · 30/09/2025 22:01

@DGonMJ pleased the dr was reassuring. If it helps, my mum had exactly the same thing which then started to grow. I clearly thought the worst but she charmingly has nodules. Annoying and she’s had the biggest ones aspirated as they were getting in the way but otherwise all benign. Interestingly her thyroid bloods were oddly all fine.

re hair loss, mine seems to have slowed and I have some regrowth. Definitely less thick than it was but I have always had loads of it. I have been taking pumpkin seed oil, biotin and sometimes iron (but that is messing with my bowels so not every day).

BlueLimes · 01/10/2025 06:25

@2025istheyeari That's really interesting. So pleased you feel better now. I actually felt worse about 3-4 years ago when I almost left my job due to a young power crazy person in my team, it really affected me so much but now think h it was probably peri. I just feel a bit irritated at times now but it feels more manageable.

Thanks for all hair advice. Interesting re nails @BreezyPeer I’ll get sone Biotin. I have been taking a multi vitamin.

Have a great day all.

I’m in a plateau but ignoring it.

HeidiLite · 01/10/2025 07:48

As for nails, I started taking Feel collagen and my nails are now so strong and growing so fast that I had to buy one of those professional drills to file them down. Also noticed just this morning that the loose skin on stomach has improved massively - of course hard to say what's collagen and what's just time and nature.

MJalltheway · 01/10/2025 07:56

I went through menopause at 45ish (now 51) and didn't actually have much in the way of symptoms. Night sweats and trouble sleeping. But because it was early, I went on HRT for the protective effects against osteoporosis and heart disease. It completely stopped the night sweats and hot flushes, I still don't sleep brilliantly though.

Hope you feel better soon @PenelopesPursuitPrevails ! Such a lot of illness circulating at the moment.

My move up to 12.5 is going well, no side effects so far but I have dropped weight since weigh in on Friday. Hopeful again that I can hit goal this year!
it's my wedding anniversary tomorrow and haven't even got a card yet so that's today's task after work!!!

HeidiLite · 01/10/2025 08:37

I'm still feeling rotten with sore throat, stuffy nose and muscle aches - will go get a covid test later just in case. Trying to work but told the team to speak slowly, as brain no work good

BreezyPeer · 01/10/2025 08:50

Morning 🌄 losers!
I'm off out to training and meetings today. Have a great day everyone xx

@HeidiLite this is what I've been suffering from since last Tuesday. I do think it's Covid. I mentioned it to a colleague who said that a number of friends and colleagues are out with it. DH's boss is also suffering. It seems to be taking about a week/a week and a half to go away. Feel better soon!!

Me too... And I ate a tube of ice cream, Reese's minis and a magnum instead of my planned food yesterday (I don't know why as I couldn't taste any of it!!!). Today I weigh a pound less than yesterday (I'm sure it will catch up tomorrow).
I had a cold on Monday, by yesterday morning I was convinced it was COVID. I'm feeling much better today but still drained. I am due to go into the office tomorrow. I think I will as otherwise I will have to go in for an extra day next week.

Jins · 01/10/2025 10:28

Morning all!

I’m back home and missing being away so much. DS2 has done a great job with the menagerie and the house looks pretty clean so that’s one good thing. There’s so much we missed seeing that we’re going to have to go back at some point (soon I hope as seeing my old school friend in person was just fantastic)

My pre-holiday weigh in was 8st 13.4 and today I weigh 9st 0.4 so that’s a pound up and 1.8 pounds more than my lowest recorded weight on MJ. If I’m honest I’m surprised. It feels like it should be more. I’ve been having fairly substantial meals at the hotel and more sweet stuff than normal but obviously I’ve been eating more mindfully than I thought.

I’ve had far too much fruit though and I’m definitely feeling worse for it. I’m pretty bunged up so I’m aiming for a couple of days of very low fibre to try to get it sorted before resorting to unpleasant remedies that I’ve not needed for months.

I’ve got a lot to catch up on with you chatty bunch and probably won’t respond individually but rest assured I’m cheering your successes and booing any negative happenings

HeidiLite · 01/10/2025 16:31

Dropped by a pharmacy and thought that might as well get some covid tests. Well that was one big fat line that appeared in 2 seconds flat.
So if you also have a sore throat, body aches and stuffy nose, quite likely you're in the same club.

Just hoping kids don't catch it, they just got over another virus..

meatyryvita · 01/10/2025 17:27

uh oh @HeidiLite - take care and keep hydrated.

Ooo, poor you @HeidiLite look after yourself, loads going round atm.

@tinyemmy and@PenelopesPursuitPrevails hope you’re feeling better too.

Welcome home @Jins , sounds magical! And that pound will be gone before you know it!!

I’ve just finished my interview, think it went well. They had 500 applicants for the role😳, I’m down to final 4 so 🤞🏻🤞🏻. Heard yesterday I didn’t get the other role but they want to keep in touch for future roles so I’ll take that. Am exhausted with it all to be honest and am so bored not working, so hope for everyone’s sake I get something soon 🤣.

Jab and weigh day tomorrow, had a terrible food day yesterday, just kept eating, was really worried that old habits were creeping back in but today a new day and back eating normally again so one of those things I guess!!

Thanks for hair loss tips, going to look into that next week! have a great evening everyone

HeidiLite · 01/10/2025 19:52

ooh break a leg @2025istheyeari ! It's been radio silence in my interview process again. Very annoying. But then again I have done recruitment myself and it is a total pain and can sometimes take ages even if you really try to be as fast as possible, We will see.

Polkadotdash · 01/10/2025 19:53

Oh @HeidiLite that is pants to have bloody Covid. Will it ever piss off and leave us all alone?

I’m really struggling with work at the moment. I’m so tired going back to it. I’ve also realised that I didn’t miss it one bit while I was recovering and that was I’ve just become very bitter and disillusioned with it all. 🙁

PenelopesPursuitPrevails · 02/10/2025 02:55

Morning 🥱🤧. Sorry to hear you’ve got COVID @HeidiLite . I suspect it here and tried to test this morning but the liquid in my vials seemed to have evaporated.

Yesterday was a day of high temperature, an all day sweat, coughing and a vice like gripping headache. Now I’m just awake, coughing. Flipping grim.

@2025istheyeari I’ll keep everything crossed for you. It is extremely exhausting. I feel like I still have a foot in that process. I’ve started consulting role one, two is coming back to me before the weekend, my offer is for less time than they would like, three - meeting next week. Curve ball is that I’ve got an interview for a job I applied for two months ago and I’ve been contacted about something I was put on a 12 month reserve list for. Not sure what I want at all tbh but given that l decided I’d have a year off if necessary I think I need to pause and have a think.

@Polkadotdash I’m sorry you’re so tired and feeling disillusioned. Sometimes things happen that change things for you. I never thought I’d have the courage to walk away from my big salary, never, despite a really toxic workplace. I just carried on because it’s just me and I’ve got two kids. It was one conversation that did it for me, just ten minutes and I knew I was done and that I’d sort something out. Within a week of resigning I knew it was the right thing to do and I’m so pleased that I did it. Have you considered having a look around?

PenelopesPursuitPrevails · 02/10/2025 03:13

I meant to ask, would you still inject today if you were me or delay until I feel a bit better?

2025istheyeari · 02/10/2025 04:37

PenelopesPursuitPrevails · 02/10/2025 03:13

Hi @PenelopesPursuitPrevails so sorry you feel so grim still, really hope things improve soon, look after yourself, lots of liquids and rest!

Thanks for well wishes on jobs, it is exhausting and all consuming ( hence me being awake at this time!!), I’m more pragmatic this week, last week was a different matter, a rollercoaster and I’m putting pressure on myself. Amazing news for you, hope by taking some time to think about what you’d like and what’s right for you it gives you clarity, what a brilliant confidence boost too.

Personally if I was feeling like you I probably wouldn’t jab.

@Polkadotdash sorry to hear how you’re feeling, you’ve had a really tough time, can you start by getting your CV/ Linked in etc up to date and contacting a few recruiters so you feel like you’re doing something positive for you maybe?

@HeidiLite solidarity! Loads of luck and hope you hear soon. I always think as a job seeker you have v different timelines to companies who have a million and one other priorities, not that you’re not one but you know what I mean! I’ve also recruited and it does take time, but as the one looking I’m impatient!!

I’ve put 2 pounds on this week! I did have a day of mindless eating and the weekend wasn’t great so not really surprised, but 2 pounds seems a lot, sobering! Will jab today and then away for the weekend, I’m going to enjoy it but be mindful I think! Will report back on Tbilisi @HeidiLite, looking forward to sulphur baths, nice food and sunshine!!!

Have a great rest of your week all!

HeidiLite · 02/10/2025 05:44

@2025istheyeari I promise when I recruit next time, I will send more regular updates to candidates, even if those are just in the lines you haven't been forgotten and we are discussing internally.

BlueLimes · 02/10/2025 06:28

@PenelopesPursuitPrevails definitely don’t jab. Hope you feel better soon and all over poorly people. Everything crossed for you @2025istheyeari

Have a great day - on the train to London but git my book and it’s quiet so far 🤞

meatyryvita · 02/10/2025 06:52

@PenelopesPursuitPrevails feel better soon. It’s bloody rotten, isn’t it?

I’ve somehow put a pound on here but I’m thinking that as I am just getting over Covid, it relates to poor nutrition and lack of hydration. I will prevail next week!

Morning losers!

@PenelopesPursuitPrevails I had a similar dilemma when I first set up my consultancy- two incredible job offers and one offered part time and said I could carry on with private work. In the end I decided to go it alone, purely because every previous job had started off well and soured very rapidly. I weathered the recession very well as I was able to undercut my competition but the biggest bonus for me was not having to hit targets that someone else imposed.

@HeidiLite thank you so much for posting your symptoms as DH has had similar symptoms and is visiting his mother today in her nursing home. Luckily it’s a negative.

Good luck to all the job hunters. So stressful when you don’t hear back, even a holding email or two makes a difference.

Back to home cooking and I managed to reduce fibre pretty well yesterday so hopefully I’ll be back on track quickly

Zempy · 02/10/2025 07:49

Good luck to everyone looking for new job opportunities. Get well soon to all the poorly people.

I checked my weigh ins over September and I seem to be maintaining OK. Lowest weight was 8:11 and highest 9:1 but it went up and down throughout September so I think that’s normal. Just got to keep it going now!
