I have patches and pessaries for HRT and they are not affected by MJ so I haven't had to change anything. Can you look at switching the type?

Yes I will look into that, thanks. Was on gel and oral Utrogestan before.

This is what I'm on, no issues. They now recommend doubling the progesterone on mj dose increases for 4 weeks. I did get some spotting in the early days.

I’ve been reading about doubling progesterone on the menopause chat, I think that’s what I’ll do as a GP had previously suggested it to deal with spotting, prior to MJ. Thanks for input.

I'm currently using the terrified of gaining to my advantage. I've never maintained before, just lost and put on. The fact that I'm terrified of being heavier is something I've never felt before and is keeping me on the straight and narrow - again easier whilst still on mj as I remember in the past being so desperate to lose weight but not being able to control the ridiculous eating behaviour.

That makes a lot of sense - every time I’ve successfully lost weight before, I’ve just felt celebratory about it, and obviously I’ve celebrated with cake 🫠 and also I think just felt overly confident about how easy it’ll be to stay the same. This time round, the idea of wasting all that money and time and effort feels utterly ridiculous!

BreezyPeer · 30/09/2025 07:16

Morning 🌄 losers!
After a 'real life' experience with colleagues yesterday I have a day at home. Also, barring disasters the end of the work on the house/garden. I can't wait as this will mean I can get on and do some tidying and some fun bits like painting ( although this is outside so I do need a minimum temperature)
@whyamisuddenlygettingolder I agree, I feel like I am approaching maintenance as another phase of weight loss not as an opportunity to eat cake.
Good peri/menopause chat- fully expecting this to hit me like a train anytime soon!
Have a good Tuesday xx

Jins · 30/09/2025 07:18

Morning all! I can’t tell you how much I want to stay here. Very jealous of @zempy Sliema has been the perfect resort for us - easy access into Valletta where there are buses everywhere so we’ve had a good explore. Last time we were here we stayed in the north of the island so it was good to see the contrast.

I have to have gained weight it’s inevitable. I’ve eaten far more than when I’m at home but I’m not too concerned.

Looking forward to catching up on all the news when I don’t have to peer at a tiny screen.

Zempy · 30/09/2025 07:46

@Jins I am also staying in Sliema. We are hoping to spend a decent amount of time tramping around Valletta. 😊

Weighed today and am back to 12:12 which is fabulous.

Jins · 30/09/2025 08:15

@Zempy you’ve picked a great resort. Loads of lovely restaurants and some big supermarkets including Lidl for drinks and snacks. We used the Sliema ferry into Valletta more than the bus and it’s great. Even simple things like knowing which side of the road for the bus stop and no need for travel adapters have been good. Lots of building work in Sliema going on but there always is in Malta.

We’ve had our last breakfast and we’ve staked our place by the pool and will be here most of the day. Will be odd returning to grey skies

PenelopesPursuitPrevails · 30/09/2025 08:36

Morning everyone, I still haven't read properly 😫. I'm knackered, I've caught DS's cold and I feel absolutely grim. I bet I've had about three hours sleep. Sadly no weight loss associated with feeling grim.

Holidays sound lovely, I feel like I could do with one and a bit of ☀.

You'll never believe that I'm having to turn work down and step back from a couple of other things in the pipeline 😵, who would have thought it, I must have put out too many feelers in panic mode. Shocked.

Happy Tuesday.

myladyjane · 30/09/2025 08:37

@jinsam pleased you had a lovely time and @Zempyi hope you do!

the HRT chat interests me - my peri symptoms are still pretty mild but I do feel them ramping up a bit. In my head I want to start another hrt chat with the gp when my weight steadies but I’m still on a high ish dose of the mj so I can work out how to combine the two.

dopey start to the day. I think I am pre menstrual but never quite sure these days. I tried a couple of workouts from the peloton app and they were quite fun so aiming to do another today.

have a good one sports fans

DGonMJ · 30/09/2025 09:14

Morning ladies, I’m having a bit of a wobble and have booked a video appointment with a private doctor this morning.
I’ve noticed there’s been a pressure on my throat the last couple of weeks feels like I’m wearing a too tight shirt collar pressing on the front of my lower neck. I assumed this was something to do with tendons and muscles adjusting as I’ve lost a lot of body fat off my neck and collar bones. Also wondered if it was connected to MJ slowing gastric movement and slowing my swallowing muscles. On higher doses I’ve felt a pressure on my stomach on certain days. But since coming down below 3mg that stomach pressure hasn’t returned. However the neck/throat pressure is still there. So I googled ‘tight throat/pressure on neck/mounjaro’ which turned up all the MJ thyroid cancer risks and sent me spiralling.
Appointment is at 9:45.

DGonMJ · 30/09/2025 09:54

Quickly following up, doctor was very reassuring and said I didn’t have any of the other symptoms associated with any thyroid issues and it’s also very rare (like blood clots and the pill) but for peace of mind I should get a physical examination and thyroid blood tests with my GP. Ok phew! As you were…

2025istheyeari · 30/09/2025 10:16

@DGonMJ , how scary that must have been, you definitely did the right thing, hope you feel reassured, and can relax a little.

@TicTac80 I’m so sorry to hear about your cat, pets are part of the family so that must have been awful.

@Jins holiday sounds fab, enjoy your last day. We have blue skies here, hopefully they’ll stay for your return!

I’m also on gel and progesterone tablets and haven’t had any issues but we’re all different aren’t we, so may be worth chatting to your GP @Whisperingdevil .

I know I’ve missed loads, sorry! I’m prepping for final interview tomorrow 🤞🏻🤞🏻. Not been weighed this week, definitely ate more at the weekend but hopefully maintained. Will
jab on Thursday, I fly to Tbilisi for the weekend on Thursday night, can’t wait!

Polkadotdash · 30/09/2025 10:48

Morning all. Forgot to weigh on Sunday so weighed today. One pound off from the four I put on. Better than gaining, but still disappointing. I’ve been stuck at this weight for 12 weeks now. Still got 1.5 stone to go to get to normal bmi. I wish I could exercise to help but absolutely everything wipes me out. I fell asleep at my desk yesterday. Soooooo bloody tired. Blood test came back with ‘no further action’ on it. Some of the markers are only just in the OK range but I guess ok is ok.
It’s interesting that you have GPs that are interested in your HRT etc. I asked about what my next steps were post hysterectomy and losing one ovary. The answer was ‘see how you go’. So I’m self monitoring to work out when my remaining ovary packs up. Seems a bit laissez fairs to me, but there you go.

Polkadotdash · 30/09/2025 10:57

*faire. Not sure why that auto corrected to fairs 🙄

hunkydory54 · 30/09/2025 11:09

Morning all, just to add my bit on the peri/menopause chat. I'm 61 and on the oral progesterone, gel oestrogen and testosterone for my HRT. I've had some breakthrough bleeding which were like periods every time I increased the dose of MJ. I've seen my GP and I've doubled my progesterone daily dose as I have quite high dose of oestrogen. I haven't had any breakthrough bleeding since even though I have gone up to 10mg of MJ recently. It's all to do with the MJ slowing down absorption of the oral progesterone, I think.
@Polkadotdash I recommend the Newson clinic's Balance app as it has a journal there where you can list all your symptoms and build a pattern. You can then show it to your GP, but I think you should be considered for HRT having had a hysterectomy. The Balance app and website have a lot of very useful information regarding the peri/menopause.

Polkadotdash · 30/09/2025 11:11

@hunkydory54 thank you. I will have a look at that.

Jins · 30/09/2025 12:05

I can’t add much to the HRT discussion. I tried it when peri started but felt awful on it. I’d never done well on hormonal contraceptives either. I had oestrogen pessaries for a while but binned them off.

61 now and probably 10 years post menopause and generally I’m ok. Have to be careful with bone density and often wonder if my skin would have recovered better with a bit of HRT onboard but it’s too late to do anything about that.

HeidiLite · 30/09/2025 12:42

@2025istheyeari very interested in what you will think of Tbilisi. I've been there, but still in Soviet times, so must be unrecognisable now.

Very scary @DGonMJ , glad the doc was reassuring.

@myladyjane want to hear about a dopey sports morning? I had a morning class, I usually go to office after that. Except not this morning, because I had forgotten my trousers. Pretty sure my colleagues would not have fully appreciated me showing up in sweaty gym leggings.

BlueLimes · 30/09/2025 14:48

good luck with the interview @2025istheyeari
Book another holiday @Jins

I’m 53, periods have been erratic for about a year, but not had one for 3 months now. Don’t think I’ve symptoms - but hormonal at times, but that’s not bee and seems better than before if anything.

my stupid question is - shoujd all women take hrt???

cloudjumper · 30/09/2025 15:08

@BlueLimes There are pros and cons for taking HRT, and I think it's very much a personal choice as to whether you should take it. If you have no symptoms and feel good, why rock the boat... However, there is scientific evidence that HRT helps prevention of osteoporosis and supports cardiometabolic health, as well as brain function etc. But again, it's a case by case decision - e.g. if you have a history of osteoporosis and heard issues in your family, that could be a factor you might want to consider. But then again, exercising and a healthy diet will also help prevention...
I decided to start HRT when my sleep became erratic, my mood even more so, and when the brain fog hit me. My periods at the time were still regular and no issue at all.

BlueLimes · 30/09/2025 15:21

@cloudjumper that’s very interesting. Thank you for taking the time to post. I’ll do some reading.
I don’t have many wrinkles (touch wood!) but my hair is thinner, I have quite a bit of yogurt and cheese, there is a history of cardio problems though, so I’ll need to research.

thanks again x

ps how’s everyone’s hair?

Polkadotdash · 30/09/2025 15:57

I’ve always lost loads of hair but I seem to be losing even more on WLI. My hairbrush is always full and I have these weird wispy bits of new growth.

2025istheyeari · 30/09/2025 16:52

God my hair is awful, I seem to be losing so much and like @Polkadotdash my hairbrush is always full, and my hair feels thinner, not sure what to do 🤷🏻‍♀️.
@BlueLimes my peri menopause was v early ( but v welcome after suffering from debilitating endometriosis for most of my life) , I had the worst brain fog and sweats but didn’t know what it was ( prob about 10 years ago). It took a fab female GP to reassure me that brain fog, trouble sleeping, feeling down, tearful and a barrel load of other symptoms were menopause related and I ( and people close to me 🤣) didn’t need to suffer. I’ve been on HRT for about 3 years and I can’t tell you how much better I feel. Like @cloudjumper says though, we’re all different so maybe worth a bit of research and chat with a GP, so much more is known about it now thankfully!
