wow @Aimingdown that's brilliant and so good to have a visual, I don’t think I could actually lift that easily yet I was carrying it round every day!! Thank you!

Oh no @Polkadotdash thats crap! Really hope you manage to get it sorted quickly. Can you use your previous provider just once to get things moving maybe?

@BlueLimes 🤣🤣🤣step away from the advent and buy the ones you fancy from Vinted!! Thanks for the cheese cloud idea too, they look delicious!!!

PenelopesPursuitPrevails · 14/10/2025 20:14

I know @2025istheyeari who ever knew all these snacks existed - not me!

It is very good to have a visual, especially during a stall 😑.

Aimingdown · 14/10/2025 21:58

HeidiLite · 14/10/2025 19:44

@Aimingdown that's fabulous! And I also think about it every time I use 20 kilo weights at the gym. Imagine carrying this thing around all day every day? But we did.

Exactly! As @2025istheyeari said too, these things are quite hard to lift but we’ve been lugging them around. Important to remember to celebrate progress in a whoosh or a stall - we are all doing really, really well!

BlueLimes · 14/10/2025 22:06

@2025istheyeari but I’m on an advent frenzy 😳
@myladyjane they are so nice but not many in a packet.
@PenelopesPursuitPrevails theres a really dirty snack you can get in Sainsbury’s - pork puffs. I shouldn’t like them but I do (not one for the veggies).

Sorry re huge link.

Sorry re huge link.

@BlueLimes I saw those at Ocado. Not sure I could manage them tbh, are they pork scratching esque? I don’t think my delicate digestive system would cope 🤣.

I rarely eat things like crisps just because I get uncontrollable reflux. I’d love to but I can’t.

MJalltheway · 15/10/2025 07:17

Morning all. I finally finished listening to the Zoe podcast about weight loss yesterday (it was me who recommended it). It's so interesting and very well worth a listen. Lays out very clearly how low cal diets don't work and in fact make you fatter. Only a brief mention of WLI.
summing up the strategy to try and break this link is to : give up sugar, cut carbs as much as possible, ditch processed food, stop snacking, ideally do time-restricted eating (16:8 or 18:6) and embrace hunger!

The odds are very much stacked against us though which is pretty depressing.

ive also applied for a job this week. I'm in 2 minds about whether I want it or not. Although current job atmosphere is terrible with redundancies going on, I really like the people I work with, it's very flexible, they've given me exactly the hours I want (part time) and it's very convenient (less than 10 mins from home). I'm quite bored though.

On a happier note, things are going well this week weight wise, I'm
a whisker away from 28kg loss at the moment, hope I might hit that this week.

Not pork scratching like (don’t like them - too fatty). Consistency a bit like a wotsit bit a bit firmer 🤣

Lots to think shout job wise, I think the cost cutting measures are in pretty much all places now 😔

Congrats on the 28kg. I’m resigned to weight always being a battle, it’s no different to before? Apart from we’re starting off thinner and with a tool - so really we’re in a better position ?

PenelopesPursuitPrevails · 15/10/2025 08:18

🤣 at firmer than a wotsit. I was thinking about crisps etc last night. I no longer eat crisps, nuts, any fried food, drink wine or gin apart from very rarely because of the damage to my stomach. I used to do all those things pre fatness - go figure.

@MJalltheway its always a tough decision, I’d probably take bored and happy over unhappy though but I guess you’ll never know unless you try.

Well done on 28kg!!

Weight down here this morning, not too much cause for celebration as I was here for the first time on 26th September before weighing lower a week later.

Jab day today, I’m going to double up on omeprazole and jab this evening.

Happy Wednesday losers.

Jins · 15/10/2025 08:24

28kg loss! Well done @MJalltheway and good luck on the job front.

@BlueLimes I think I’m starting to feel the same way about weight battles. I’m theoretically titrating down but had a little more in the last jab. I’ve felt so hungry in the last couple of weeks and have had to dig out the will power. Having said that my weight has been pretty stable.

High calorie snack foods? Has to be nuts surely? I remember my very low carb days when a bag of mixed nuts was my lunch 🤣
(edit as cross posted with @PenelopesPursuitPrevails saying nuts are out.)

Mid week already. I’m going to try to get to primark today for a jeans testing session. A friend mentioned that they have some mid rise ones in so it’s worth a look. I haven’t worn jeans for so long that it’s not the end of the world if I don’t find any.

HeidiLite · 15/10/2025 08:35

morning all, my weight has creeped a bit higher than I'd like to so need to be more strict again. But yes, nothing new there and at least we have a drug to help us. Takes some time to figure out what is the appropriate amount of food to allow me to maintain, not lose or gain.

A friend yesterday said she started on ADHD medication and it took away all her food noise. There really seems to be a connection there - ADHD, food noise and also hypermobility (there's a significant, studied association between ADHD and hypermobility, with a higher prevalence of generalized joint hypermobility and Ehlers-Danlos syndrome in people with ADHD, as google tells me). I definitely have the latter 2, and pretty sure also ADHD.

2025istheyeari · 15/10/2025 09:02

Hi all

Congrats on 28kg @MJalltheway thats fantastic. I felt the same after the podcast, quite down about the whole thing tbh. I’ve ordered his book. I already do time restricted eating etc, my issue is carbs, so looking at swapping out more starchy veg for greens more often etc. anyway onwards hey, we’ve come this far and I refuse to put the fought for weight loss back on!!

Re the job, go through the process and see what you think, you’ll never know otherwise. You can then weigh pros and cons of both up. Good luck!

@BlueLimes hmm not sure about those pork firmer than wotsit things 🤣. I know you’re on and advent calendar frenzy, so I say if you want it, buy it! Im all about bringing joy into our lives!!

yay, a loss @PenelopesPursuitPrevails take it! Hope jab ok and limited side effects.

I have an interview today and a ‘chat’ with the internal recruiter for the role I’m waiting to hear on ( 2 weeks today!), her email tone has been informal, even jokey and up until now it’s been emails with availabity and no chat so I’m really really hoping it means they’re offering me the role rather than it being a no ( that’d be an email surely) or discussion re final step with President I’d be partnering in the UK 🤞🏻.

I’m then off into London for dinner with friends I used to work with, luckily one of them messaged me last night as I had it in my diary for tomorrow 🤦🏻‍♀️🤣

Have a great day losers

Aimingdown · 15/10/2025 09:28

Great progress @MJalltheway !

I have to figure this maintenance out - I’ve got rid of my fat jeans and I’m not buying that size again. I like the Zoe approach of adding ‘good’ food, for me protein also definitely helps me not to snack so I’m going with that I think. Also working on fibre as I’m finding I don’t eat as many fresh fruits and veggies at the moment.

Polkadotdash · 15/10/2025 11:35

Second new supplier for pen - chosen because they ship by Royal Mail. Finally get a shipment message - they’ve sent it by Dpd. I might cry. That’s two pens costing £100 each that Dpd have trashed because they won’t deliver to me. And now I’ve got no choice by to go back to my original provider and pay top whack for a pen that I know they will send to me. Aaaaaaarrrrrgggghhhhh!

cloudjumper · 15/10/2025 13:09

My go-to substantial snack would be a protein bar or drink - one with at least 20g protein, not one of those that advertise themselves and when you check, they have less than 10g in them! They are very filling and can be quite calorific.

Well done on the recent (and overall) losses! It’s weigh day for me today, and I have lost all of 0.4 kg since last week. I expected more, as I ‘feel’ quite a bit thinner (mainly due to a stomach upset at the weekend 😬). Still hovering just above that elusive healthy BMI, 3 kg away from my target weight. Hey ho 🤷🏼‍♀️

I’m now trying to find a Christmas party outfit… So I’m back on Vinted all the time 🤭 My original thought was to buy a complete outfit/dress, shoes, bag - but I’ve had a change of heart when I realised that the party clothes I already own now fit me again! So I’m now just going to buy some accessories instead and wear the stuff I have (which no one will have seen because I haven’t worn it for years).

SW 100.4 kg
CW 73 kg
GW 70 kg

cloudjumper · 15/10/2025 13:11

@Polkadotdashoh rubbish about the pens and the DPD issue!! Is there no way you could convince them to take you off their no-go list?

Thelittlestranger · 15/10/2025 13:41

@Polkadotdash how very frustrating.

Good luck with the meeting @2025istheyeari sounds promising!!

Update on the jeans @Jins !

Staying on track with my commitments this week. Haven't tracked, haven't weighed (which I have struggled with) waiting until Friday...

Polkadotdash · 15/10/2025 13:57

@cloudjumper we've tried and tried. Spoken to all levels of customer service and the answer is always no. As they are a private company, there is nothing you can do. It screws so many things up for us. We’ve even tried getting delivered to neighbours and they won’t do it. All because my husband asked them to move a van from blocking our drive so that he could get on to it.

Polkadotdash · 15/10/2025 14:00

All the chat of Christmas party outfits makes me envious. Is it just me who doesn’t have any events to attend at Christmas? The civil service doesn’t ‘allow’ work/office parties and I don’t really have a social life other than that! Nowhere to dress up to go!!

HeidiLite · 15/10/2025 14:29

I don't have that many glamorous parties, just my office and DH's.
DH's especially is quite fancy though so will enjoy dressing up. Have ordered 2 dresses and a pair of silver stilettos from Vinted.

I don't have any. DH's Christmas parties are workers only, and ours is cancelled this year because of the ongoing redundancies.
still browsing the nice outfits though!

Polkadotdash · 15/10/2025 15:39

@MJalltheway this is a good tactic. I might just order something to dress up in and stay at home. I can wear heels then and not be in pain as I will be sitting on the sofa!!! 😂

Thelittlestranger · 15/10/2025 15:52

I am simply not built for heels. I also don't have any parties just yet - our work Xmas parties don't count. Also, OH is going in for a hip op beginning of December, so that will put a different perspective on the whole month I should think.

PenelopesPursuitPrevails · 15/10/2025 17:27

@Polkadotdash I really feel for you, what a carry on.

Nothing too fancy on my Xmas horizon, a couple of hobby related dinners and a big family party. All a bit dressy uppy. We are going to the ballet twice and a couple of posh restaurants in December so I’ll probably take the opportunity to wear something nice now that I’m primarily wfh in leggings 🤣.

I miss the corporate party days sometimes, no doubt the budgets have moved but I went to New York once for a Christmas do weekend 😳.
