Job swap anybody? I am sitting in a 3 hour meeting where most likely my input will be limited to unmuting, saying "nothing from my side" and muting again 😂

But I have 2 bodypump classes to teach, that's more fun - lunchtime and after work.

meatyryvita · 13/10/2025 09:36

How exciting @BreezyPeer for the FF (which has me howling btw - never heard that term before!).

@HeidiLite that really is so rude! You're not a museum exhibit or a celebrity splashed over a magazine, you're a human being whose life is not for public consumption. That said, I wonder if the colleague is delighted for you but just handled it a bit awkwardly?

@Jins your handiness/creativity is inspiring! I'm far too slapdash for anything detail oriented like sewing. DD is in her final year of 6th form and is doing textiles, no idea where she got her skills from!

@Zempy Eating a couple of pain-au-chocolat once in a while is perfectly normal! Non-dieters do it and then they readjust over the following days - please don't beat yourself up!

A quiet weekend here but a lovely one. Very mindful eating for me this weekend - I'm finding that I'm incorporating far more veg into my every day eating, which makes its way to the dinner table for all the family. We had poke bowls last night and I made some okonomiyaki (Japanese cabbage pancakes - they're normally made with pork too but I'm veggie) as an extra side dish, which were really nice. I also baked some kale that I'd mixed with a bit of oil and salt, which came out intensely flavoured and crispy, so that added a little more texture which is really nice.

Have a great Monday y'all!

@BreezyPeer how exciting!

Take your time is my advice.

@2025istheyeari this is the recipe I got chatGPT to amend based on what I had in the cupboard. It’s v tasty, and the beef stock makes it quite rich.

🍄 Mushroom, Brown Rice & Lentil Soup (8 portions, gluten-free)

A rich, hearty, high-protein soup — earthy mushrooms, nutty brown rice, and a mix of brown and Puy lentils simmered in a deep beefy broth. Freezes beautifully.

🧂 Ingredients

• 800 g mushrooms (mixed if possible – chestnut, button, wild)
• 2 large onions, chopped (~300 g)
• 3 medium carrots, chopped (~180 g)
• 3 sticks celery, chopped (~120 g)
• 4 cloves garlic, minced (~12 g)
• 150 g brown rice (uncooked)
• 1 tin lentils (400 g), drained (~240 g)
• 1 pouch Merchant Gourmet Puy lentils (250 g) (~250 g cooked)
• 2 L beef stock (from stock cubes — about 4 cubes, gluten-free if possible)
• 2 tbsp olive oil (~30 g)
• 2 tsp dried thyme (or 4 sprigs fresh)
• 2 bay leaves
• 2 tbsp tamari (optional, for umami depth — skip if your stock is salty)
• 3 tbsp red wine vinegar (or 2 tbsp balsamic)
• Fresh parsley, chopped, to serve (~15 g)
• Salt & black pepper, to taste

👩‍🍳 Method

  1. Prepare mushrooms: Wipe clean and slice. Set aside 200 g for garnish.
  2. Sauté base veg: In a large stockpot, heat olive oil. Add onion, carrot, celery, and garlic. Cook 8–10 mins until softened.
  3. Add mushrooms: Stir in 600 g mushrooms and cook 8 mins until browned and their liquid has mostly evaporated.
  4. Build soup base: Add brown rice, thyme, bay leaves, stock, and (if using) tamari. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 30 mins.
  5. Add lentils: Stir in both the Napolina lentils and the Merchant Gourmet Puy lentils. Simmer for another 10 mins to heat through and let flavours combine.
  6. Finish: Remove bay leaves. Stir in red wine vinegar and season with salt and black pepper.
  7. Garnish: Quickly sauté the reserved 200 g mushrooms in a little olive oil, scatter over each bowl with chopped parsley.

Thanks so much, it sounds delicious, am definitely going to make that this week, will go down well with the family!

Thanks @HeidiLite it’s really so annoying! I’ve been on antihistamines to try to clear it but it keeps breaking out.

Thanks to whoever shared the Zoe podcast ( sorry can’t remember who that was!). I’ve just had a listen and really interesting. I eat healthily 95% of the time, always home cooked food, homemade bread when I have it and I don’t generally have a sweet tooth. I’m going to try to reduce my carbs and also noticed a bit of snacking has crept in, healthy snacking but still! Also try to reduce my cups of tea with skimmed milk, my one guilty pleasure but I have a lot!

@BreezyPeer ooh how very exciting! Agree with others, neediness a bit of a flag so early on, but maybe another couple of meetings to see whether that was a one off. Yesterdays does indeed sound v promising!!!

Sorry to all of you who have Monday work blues, it’s a bit grey and cold which also doesn’t help does it! @BlueLimes I’ll give it a go!! I need something to focus on, I’m even ironing atm which I hate!!! Still no news on this job, it is sooooo slow!

@PenelopesPursuitPrevails and others who are struggling, it’s just shit, I’m sorry, I can offer no help or words of advice just solidarity….

@MJalltheway sorry to hear about your friend. A friend of mine has recently been through similar. We did things like cooked meals so they didn’t have to think about it, took the dog out etc. I spoke to her husband to try to understand what may help and where the line was, it’s tricky but the fact that you’re all being thoughtful will I’m sure mean so much.

@Thelittlestranger and @Zempy do t beat yourselves up, main thing is you are aware and one day isn’t going to derail things, hump back in, be accountable and hopefully you’ll be back on track asap.

myladyjane · 13/10/2025 13:35

@2025istheyeari do you mind skimmed milk in your tea? If you don’t like it as much, don’t have it. It’s milk in tea and no one put weight on through that regardless of how much you have (my tea addicted mother has a theory that milky tea stops her snacking and gives her energy - the woman drinks gallons of the stuff). I count it in my day as I also have a fair bit but not skimmed because it’s pointless in tea imo.

I have done Zoe and find the add not take away ethos helpful and found I ate less as it was better quality. But sooooo many beans which I just can’t do on mj. I also can see set point theory in myself - I seem to have 3. One is around bmi 35. Whilst I’ve been heavier, I can typically lose that quite easily and it’s my fat ‘settled’ place. One is bmi 30 where I am hovering at the moment. Getting under is a bit of a slog. Then bmi 26/27 (about a stone lighter). This has been my weight I’ve settled at as an adult as my ‘thin’ weight. Have managed to maintain here fairly easily for extended periods of time. But it’s a conscious effort to do so, ie I need to be active, making good choices most (but not all) of the time. That’s where I am aiming for now.

I am now lying on the sofa under a blanket. I should be at my desk working but no one will notice for 30 mins. I am not ill, i just still don’t want to work. I want to read my book with James Norton feeding me grapes and Roy Kent (Ted lasso fans) rubbing my feet..,,

HeidiLite · 13/10/2025 13:38

@2025istheyeari interesting, I've never tried to clear it with antihistamines.

Rozex works, takes a bit of time but clears it. I also have a blue light acne light that helps.

PenelopesPursuitPrevails · 13/10/2025 19:52

Keep drinking tea @2025istheyeari , it won't make a difference.

I am currently on the sofa under a blanket @myladyjane . Just about to get up and make a cup of tea 😂.

Thank you for the show of solidarity @2025istheyeari , I was thinking about my food today earlier, I've had half a sourdough bagel with ¼ mashed avocado and a poached egg and, because I am on my own tonight and cba to cook, M&S high protein tandoori chicken box (grim). Total of 615 calories, plus semi skimmed milk in one cup of coffee and one cup of tea (soon to be two). I might have an orange but that's it for today.

2025istheyeari · 13/10/2025 20:45

I’ve always had it in my tea @myladyjane years of dieting for you 🤭. I don’t mind it, I also count it and have a lot!! Just thinking about the snacking thing he was talking about in the article, and carbs and sugar. My carbs are fairly high but it’s mostly veg although I do have some homemade granary sourdough, brown rice etc. I think I’m just worried about life post jabs. I come from an obese family and I do not want to go back. The podcast definitely gave me food for thought and I’m worried…

Pharmacist suggested anti histamines as the reaction is obviously an allergy. It seems to be getting better but have made a note of all of your fab recommendations, thanks @HeidiLite.

@PenelopesPursuitPrevails that’s barely anything, you can’t survive on that! Is it because your appetite is so supressed? I’m so sorry, you must be exhausted and so despondent but you’re still doing so well. Is it worth speaking to someone to see if anything else impacting things?

myladyjane · 13/10/2025 21:45

@PenelopesPursuitPrevails I know you’ve said before that your metabolism has been shot by your treatment but that’s a really low calorie consumption. I get quite a lot of suppression and I am quite a bit shorter than you and it’s rare for me to go below 1000 and I really struggle to eat well enough (protein/fibre/5 a day). Just throwing it out there but you’ve mentioned getting to the end of the journey. Is it worth titrating down, seeing if you can up the calories a bit. See if the glp1 helps with some of the insulin/blood sugar balance regardless of weight loss? So actively try not to lose but stay on the mj to help (I guess micro dosing).

PenelopesPursuitPrevails · 14/10/2025 07:39

@2025istheyeari and @myladyjane it was a low calorie day wasn’t it. I don’t think it’s normally that low with proper food. I eat at about 11:30 ish normally, plus fruit, plus dinner. Never more than 1000 calories though unless I’m away or out somewhere. But then I’ve counted calories since AC and not lost weight on 1500 a day.

I feel nauseous/refluxy since going up to 7.5mg last week so have eaten a bit less. Maybe I’ll go back to 6.25mg tomorrow.

I’m not remotely hungry first thing. Home alone today again I think (but that could always change with my DC). Am planning on making my favourite soup for dinner. This one. Quite nutritious compared to yesterday, but still not a lot of calories I guess.

Tuscan Bean Soup recipe | The Soup Book | Dorling Kindersley

This hearty, substantial soup improves with reheating, so it benefits from being made a day in advance. Reheat gently over low heat.

2025istheyeari · 14/10/2025 07:56

@PenelopesPursuitPrevails I don’t tend to be hungry in the morning either, def not a breakfast person! Could you maybe add some Greek yoghurt with chia ( or other seeds) and berries into your day, added calories, good fats and protein? I use Fage and I really enjoy it, it feels luxurious somehow!
I can’t remember who it was but months ago ( prob when I went up to 7.5mg), I was really struggling to eat and hit my protein goals and someone suggested M&S Serrano ham ‘crisps’, essentially they’re baked pieces of Serrano ham, they’ve got 15g of protein in them and about 99cals. I always have some in for when I’m struggling with calories or protein- I find I lose more if I can up the protein. Sorry not trying to problem solve for you but just some thoughts that worked for me when I struggled. I get it’s so hard when you feel nauseous and have no appetite.

The soup looks delicious, similar to a Delia Tuscan bean soup I make which also has Parmesan in it.

I had the opposite problem to you yesterday, mid afternoon I just went on an eating spree, honestly mindlessly! I’m not feeling brilliant, awful headache, achey, so wondering if I’m coming down with something. I’m staying in bed and going to try to sleep it off I think.

I’ve lost my cooking mojo, we’re away for a long weekend this weekend but when we’re back I’m having a cookathon and making loads of nutritious food for the freezer so that even when I can’t be bothered there’s something nice! Well that’s the plan anyway 😂

PenelopesPursuitPrevails · 14/10/2025 08:10

Thank you @2025istheyeari I welcome your ideas …. Especially crisps 🤣.

I always have a tub of M&S 10% fat Greek yoghurt in the fridge, but if I feel nauseous dairy makes it worse. Otherwise I try to eat a ramekin of it every day.

I hope you feel better, I’ve got a headache today too. I’ve got tons of work to get through today as well, most of it in excel 😬.

I don’t freezer cook anymore apart from having one thing in there. Since DC are older I found myself having to eat something two days running and I hated it so I gave up. My cba food is usually a poached egg on toast.

weight static this morning!

BreezyPeer · 14/10/2025 08:20

Morning 🌄 losers!
I feel a bit meh this morning. Not sure why.
Work seems overwhelming yet boring at the same time.
I need to get my head in the game!
Have a good day everyone xx

Jins · 14/10/2025 08:21

Morning all!

DH redeemed himself on the cooking front last night by cooking our first Hello Fresh meal and very nice it was too. I’ve just been reading a thread about them and lots of people seem to think that portions are too small. Well we have leftovers from ours even after two hulking 6 footers had their fill so i’m not sure I agree.

No plans for today at the moment so will probably have a pottering day. I’ve got some boots to vint and it’s getting into that season so I could do with seeing if there’s anything else that can go. The other big task is to go through my underwear drawer to see if there’s anything in there that actually fits me. Not feeling particularly thrilled with that task if I’m honest.

Hope everyone’s day goes well

HeidiLite · 14/10/2025 09:03

Morning losers,

@BreezyPeer it's the time of the year, insanely busy but people also getting overwhelmed and fed up and start looking forward to Xmas break. Or maybe that's just me.

@Jins I found the Hello Fresh portions massive even before the jabs. But we find it happens with many recipes - it says feeds 4, I follow the quantities exactly and end up eating it for 3 days..And rest of the family all have healthy appetites.

Have eaten more over the past week or so, and all those calories are catching up now. Weight creeping upwards a bit more than I'd like. And like with losing when you're slimmer, also gaining is very noticeable, I feel especially my waistline is looking chunky. It's still a size 8 waist so that's obviously not true, but I do need to rein it in before I undo all the good work. Mostly just portion sizes and I have had some bread and pastries as well, which always make me gain.

myladyjane · 14/10/2025 09:41

@BreezyPeer I see your ennui and raise it. This morning had to be an office day for me and I slept through 4 alarms (I have 2 and the girls have one each that usually wake me). So I am strolling from the car park to the office about an hour later than I should with no idea if I’ve missed any calls or meetings since yesterday afternoon as my work phone has died. Given I’m the most senior person in my team today and am meant to be setting a good example I am grading myself a d-. I just can’t find it in myself to give a shit

Jins · 14/10/2025 09:46

I’ve just weighed and I’m back below 9st again thank goodness. It’s a good sign that the gluten reaction is virtually over. Feeling absolutely starving this morning though which is weird as Shotsy says I’ve got 5mg onboard and it’s still 3 days to my next jab. It’s strange to feel hungry yet not actually want to eat anything.

I’ve spent some time with my calendar to work out when I’ll need to reorder so as not to look suspicious and it’s 23 Feb. I’ve got doses taking me to 30 March so I’m doing ok

PenelopesPursuitPrevails · 14/10/2025 14:45

Well, I have upped my calories by eating a waitrose no 1 dark chocolate and raspberry cupcake - delicious and quite a dainty size for losers despite 311 calories. ✅

Thelittlestranger · 14/10/2025 15:07

Hello fresh for 4, easily feeds 5 of us with some left over. We had beef noodles last night. Super easy.

Another who is over work this week. So I went for a run at lunch to clear my head, and am slowly making my way through the day.

I have also made my first Vinted sales. Ridiculously excited about it as it takes the guilt from ordering anything new!!

Love Total/Fage 0% yoghurt. It replaces sweet treats in the evening with some fruit, and on We/Thurs has become my breakfast with some melon. Only 100 cals together - and yummy and filling.

Aimingdown · 14/10/2025 16:13

🎉 Milestone! 🎉
A tiny fraction under 60kg this morning. Which means I have lost 20kg (bloody heavy when I lugged this over for a photo) , which is 25% of my starting weight. Would like 2-4 more off, but I’m also concerned that I may be starting to enter what a friend calls ‘The loose skin zone’ where more off may not actually improve my appearance.

HeidiLite · 14/10/2025 19:44

@Aimingdown that's fabulous! And I also think about it every time I use 20 kilo weights at the gym. Imagine carrying this thing around all day every day? But we did.

myladyjane · 14/10/2025 20:03

@Aimingdown that’s amazing mate.

@PenelopesPursuitPrevails excellent cup cake work

@BlueLimes you minx! High protein portable veggie snax are v hard to find but will give them a whirl

@Thelittlestranger I do frozen black cherries in my 0% fage. Tastes like proper pudding

Polkadotdash · 14/10/2025 20:03

So I’m still without a jab. Juniper are doing everything to avoid refunding me for the undelivered pen and Simple Online Pharmacy are reviewing my application as my BMI is too low (WTF - it’s 28 🤯)
Jab day was Sunday so the clock is ticking. I honestly did not think it was going to be so bloody difficult to switch supplier.

PenelopesPursuitPrevails · 14/10/2025 20:07

What a pain @Polkadotdash . Have you tried Farmeci? I've only ordered from them once (during the pendemic) and they seemed very efficient. No idea on pricing comparison.
