Welcome to thread 14!

Link to our last thread here:

https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/weight-loss-injections/5394264-mounjaro-starters-nov-24-thread-13-the-one-where-we-are-lucky-to-end-our-best-summer-in-years-thinner-and-more-comfortable-in-our-own-skin?page=40

Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we enter Autumn knowing that ALL of our Winter coats will do up 🥰

Join us here to celebrate NSV’s, weight loss milestones, maintenance and new stone brackets!

I’m on W47 D2 and on w2 of my second titrating down pen of 5.0mg

F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 9st 7.0lbs
GW 9st 0lb

Total loss so far 61.0 lbs (at 9st 6.0)

We recommend the Shotsy app to monitor the amount of MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for managing side effects, exercise tips, tips for maintenance, titrating up or down and we love a wellness/supplements/beauty/ style chat too 🥰

@Mounjaropen I’ve been taking creatine approx 5 days a week for a little while now and haven’t noticed weight gain. I think it can cause a bit of water retention (as it pulls water into the muscle, apparently!) and some people experience bloating. I normally take a scoop a day which is around 3g. I think the higher doses are associated with water retention. I’ve been using Impact creatine (MyProtein) from Holland & Barrett (it was on offer!).

I do definitely feel it helps when I’ve got Pilates.

Thanks - the gummies are pretty shite tbh but we'll see if there's a difference!

I take vit D gummies as soon as summer fades! I wear SPF 50 year round on my face, so feel like i need all the help I can get with vit D.

As for creatine, I take the Nutrition Geeks powder - pop it in with my magnesium powder and drink daily. I find it's good for brain fog.

This snicker x bounty bites sound perfect!

I did look at this one online and it seems reasonably priced so I might give it a whirl after the dreadful gummies!

Well, the thread title couldn't be more apt. I am in need of a new raincoat so traipsed around town today trying various ones on. In every single shop a size 8 fitted. I am still wearing size 12/14 in most clothing, so this was pretty damn shocking, especially since I have always sized up in coats. I ended ordering a size 10 dark green knee length hooded waxed car coat in the end (I want to be able to wear a thicker jumper underneath). They were out of stock in that colour and that size. Obviously.

Any top tips? My hunger is definitely returning after my week on 3.75mg but I'm leaning into it and eating non-processed foods when I feel it. I've also upped the speed on my treadmill walk to get into the fat burning phase. Not much more that we can do really - as long as we're not inhaling an entire packet of Jaffa cakes instead of a piece of fruit etc!

No magic tips I’m afraid. I found it a struggle when I realised how much the MJ had been helping. And because I’d had to do it cold turkey I wasn’t mentally ready. Not immediately ballooning was helpful. I think I’d worried the minute I came off MJ I’d be straight back to my old weight.

In an ideal world I’d reverse diet up towards my maintenance calories and find the calorie amount you can maintain without putting weight on. For me that’s pretty much my fitness pal maintenance calories. Keep active. Keep tracking. Keep weighing.

I eat dark chocolate when I want an evening snack. I only drink at weekends and a lot less than I used to. If the food noise won’t stop and I know I’m not hungry as I’ve had my calories I’ll have an apple, banana and a drink. My bad habit at the moment is my nature valley bar habit. And I can’t stop at one. I have to have both in the packet!

Thanks for this. It’s the wine habit I have to watch when I come off eventually..! I’m still weighing daily and keeping nutritious foods in the house along with an exercise plan. Hopefully, I’ll get to a place where I reach an equilibrium but I’m taking it slowly. My plan is to buy 5.0mg pens keep in the fridge and extract twice as much 2.5mg doses from it as that’ll be cheaper than buying 2.5mg pens in the long term.

Hello lovely jabbers, hope you’ve all had lovely weekends. Wowee @BlueWalker- size 8! It’s amazing how you can keep wearing the larger sizes and not realise how slim you’ve actually become, isn’t it?

I was on a city break this weekend, thoroughly enjoying how much our death jabs help me not overeat when I’m in a strange place with lots of intriguing things to try! All the extra walking this weekend has brought me down to my lowest weight to date, despite my increased wine intake - 65.2kg (144lbs). I’m pretty close to my previous teenage low now. (Blimey!)

Today is my Oushk maintenance call and I will be making a decision on my next pen afterwards. I am anticipating either sticking at 7.5 and extending time between doses, or going down to 5. Either way I am looking forward to spending less on the medication, so there’s a silver lining to look forward to! But I admit I’m a little nervous about maintenance. The pens are a real psychological comfort as well as a medical one, I find.

jay55 · 28/10/2025 09:57

I wish MJ cured my shopping habit. I’ve gone wild this morning on the liberty beauty kits.

Went to the office yesterday and really felt the cold on the walk home. I need some gloves. I’m not sure I even own any, since a bunch got eaten by mice(not where I live now).
Took my jab a day late. Just forgot yesterday which is weird but good. 12.5 keeps me topped up the whole week, no hungry weekends.

Loving hearing about maintenance. It’s so far away for me but I’m willing you all on, size 8 coats and tiny knickers.

Hi everyone,

I’ve been very absent, busy summer with work and other things.
i came of mountain in July when I was at goal weight, maintained for about 6 weeks then had some big social events and started being naughty.

Ive put a stone on 😭

have ordered a pen and need to verify my weight with Oushk so fingers crossed I can get back into good habits!
I will try to post more to be accountable

Well done with all the progress everyone 💪

Oh boo, sorry to hear this. Well done for getting back into it and addressing it straight away, hope weight verification goes well and you'll be back where you were in no time. Do you know where you went wrong and how to manage it in the future? Are there any particular things you can plan for to avoid temptation (eg meal planning, making sure there are healthy snacks and food available in the fridge and cupboard). I had such a wobble last week at the train station when I was hungry (and slightly tipsy) and fancied a Burger King. I did end up making the better choice of a salad thing from Boots but I was extremely grumpy about it 🤣 (in some ways I think we do need to treat ourselves at times to help stop the resentment, but it needs to be in moderation).

I am nervous of maintaining when I finally get there (some way to go yet!). You’ve done so well to achieve your goal weight and you’ve got this 💪

Goldleafcat · 29/10/2025 08:45

I’ve been eating more than normal this past week (period hunger! Feed the womb! Apparently 🙄) and forced myself to brave the scales this morning (normal weigh in day is a Friday) but was pleasantly surprised to see a 10 on the scales! 10 stone 13, but still, a 10!

I was actually confused at first, thinking the scales were on the wrong setting (pounds or something) (guinea pigs) because I was expecting 11 something and it took me a moment 🤦‍♀️😂

am back in the gym 3x a week and am going to try to meal prep and make healthy lunches-I love a nice soup so will try to get back into good habits when im home working.

i do have a couple of work trips ahead so will try to be better then too and will take my gym clothes so i can work out

i will get back to checking in regularly here as I do think it held me accountable

Hello Lovely People
Checking in

SW 16.5
CW 10.12
TWL 5 1/2 stone.
Very surprisingly a New Stone Level!

I'm Into my 3rd month of Maintenance, injecting 12.5mg every 12 days-or-so
Again, as always, I was convinced I had put on weight, but in fact I had lost some instead. This will probably go up a fraction as I enter the days where there is less/no MJ in my system, and I tend to eat a little bit more, but I am not fixated on being under 11 stone, trying to stay around the 11.2 mark is my aim.

This is already the longest I have ever maintained for, I think it is 9 weeks now.
I would like to stretch the injecting gap to every 14 days, but with trips away and an operation, it seems every 12 days is what I will do until after Christmas. At that point I will also start to titrate down the doses.

I am still focussing on protein and fibre, with a few glasses of wine at the weekend. On the days when there is less MJ in my system I do have to remind myself not to size up portions or have second helpings, as I don't feel myself getting full, but I am not getting hungry between meals and if I feel the call to snack/stress eat it is very light and easily ignored.

We went to a wonderful family wedding and I felt fabulous! Absolutely loved dressing up in my posh frock and hat, and I just felt so happy and confident.

Something else I have noticed, which for me is absolutely bizarre, is that I really feel the need to get out and exercise. I need to go for a long brisk walk or a swim at least 3 times a week, or things just feel 'wrong'. (I always thought the people who said they 'needed' to exercise were either weird or pretending!)

lovealongbath · 30/10/2025 07:50

Morning all

Weekly weigh in on 4.8mg dose
week 50

SW 18st 4.3lbs
CW 13 stone 13.1
Loss this week is 2lbs
Total loss so far, 4 stone 5lb
I have lost 24% of my starting weight
SBMI 43
CBMI 33.4

Feeling bizarrely content! Obviously I still have a long way to go but I’m happy where I am at the moment. I feel good and I must look good as I the compliments are flowing.

jay55 · 30/10/2025 09:30

Welll done everyone dipping in to new stone boundaries. It’s brilliant!

@lovealongbathtotally know what you mean about being content here. Am sure you look amazing.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 30/10/2025 16:18

Congratulations to all the new stone brackets and klaxoneers!

Off to hide the MJ because DM is babysitting tonight and I don’t want her to find it in the fridge.

SerenePeer · 30/10/2025 19:22

Well done for getting back on the jabs @Della82 - good to know we have MJ in our back pockets if bad habits start creeping back in!

Bravo @goldleafcat on your new stone level! Whoop whoop! And @magnoliatreepetals welcome to the 10 club both of you!

I was late taking my jab this week as I was away for the night with my bestie and I didnt want to risk any side effects. So instead of jabbing Sunday morning, I jabbed Monday night just before bed. Big mistake. Within 2 hours I lost the contents of my stomach and shall not be able to face chilli for some time :-( So lesson learned - i need to jab on an empty stomach! The rest of the family ate the same, so I think this was just my body objecting to jabbing on a full stomach after a weekend of socialising (no booze but rich food).

Silver lining = breaking my plateau and reaching a new low weight 😂

Cantbesure · 31/10/2025 09:34

19 weeks off MJ. Weight holding steady BMI averages around 23.
having my over-50 health check this week. My overall cholesterol is 4.8, ratio is 2.7 but my triglycerides are slightly high. BP is good and chat gpt says my heart attack/stroke risk is lower than for my age group. Annoying about my triglycerides and I don’t have previous cholesterol levels to compare with. But I had mild hypertension before MJ. I’m pleased to see my BP has remained healthy, it is a bit higher than when I was on MJ but that’s not a bad thing as it was borderline low.

Goldleafcat · 31/10/2025 09:52

Happy Halloween 🎃

It’s approx one year since I started this MJ journey. In this time I’ve lost more than 5 and a half stone and reached my first goal weight of 11 stone (which I thought was impossible! Now I’ve scraped into the 10s). Rather magical! 🧙

Hope everyone has had a good week and a lovely weekend lined up.

We are at MILs. She’s not a bad woman but has been a nightmare over the years about my weight (I’m too fat for her son etc). She is literally obsessed with weight and always comments on other people. I last saw her in the summer and she commented on my weight loss then but I’ve obviously lost some more since then. One of the first things she said to me last night when we arrived was ‘have you lost more weight?’ I said ‘oh a bit’ and she commented how she’s put more on. I just said I wouldn’t worry. Then later on she brought it up again and asked me if it’s been a struggle to lose the weight. I pretended not to hear the first time (we were eating dinner) but she repeated it. I just said I’ve learned I can’t eat as much as I’d like to, sadly!

Later on, she actually asked me ‘you’re not taking anything to help you lose the weight are you?’ 🙄 If she had been more supportive over the years and not the woman she is I may have been honest. As it is, I lied and said no. I did say I’m eating a lot less and doing more exercise (which is true).
Apparently this morning when I was in the shower she told DH it’s good I’ve lost weight. But again asked about tablets and injections 🙄

I have a feeling the interrogation is not over yet…

Weighing in.

W52D7
SW: 19st 9lbs
CW:14st 05lbs
1st GW: 17st 13lbs
2nd GW 15st 4lbs
3rd GW: 13st 9lbs
TL: 5st 04lb

Heading back in the right direction again. I might be pushing it to hit 14st 02 by the 8th Nov but I was briefly 14st 04 mid week so you never know.

I've finally got an abdominal scan tomorrow, to see if there is anything lurking that's been causing the persistent mild abdominal pains. Fingers and toes very much crossed that nothing bad is discovered.

RayonSunrise · 31/10/2025 12:39

@Goldleafcat I have started to realise that a lot of these comments and interrogations are actually the other person’s anxiety over their own weight bursting out into their relationships with other people. Your MIL’s behaviour is a classic example of it - being critical of you when you’re heavier (as she would be of herself), but now that you’re losing you have an enviable “skill” and she wants to know how you’re doing it

I’ve noticed this with a few friends who’ve interrogated me recently, despite them all knowing me well enough to have seen me go through some weight gain/loss cycles before. They are carrying more weight than they used to and are finding it hard to shift, but I think that rather than acknowledging that (and it’s not always easy to do that, I realise!) they’re working it through by honing in on me. WLIs are such big news right now of course their minds are going there - I suspect they are wondering if it’s “okay” to go there themselves. Which is fine, but I would be much happier to chat confidentially with someone who wanted to talk to me about HER weight, which might lead me to bring up WLIs myself if it seemed approproate.

Instead I’ve had some friends on a night out start asking me about my weight loss and then bring up WLIs in parallel, which didn’t exactly make me keen to offer up my personal medical decisions!

As of this next dose from my 7.5mg pen I’m starting to stretch out my days between injections. Usually today is my dose day, but I’m going to hold on until Monday. My next pen will also be 7.5mg and then I’ll be aiming to work up to a 14 day cycle through Christmas, then move to a 5mg pen in January and see how I go.

I’m not sure how much of a klaxon this is worth, but I broke a kg barrier this morning - down to 64.9 (so a whole 100g past 65), but still it’s the first time I’ve seen 64 on the scales at all! Not a bad start to maintenance.

RayonSunrise · 31/10/2025 12:41

Best wishes for the scan, @PinkArt
