I've found I always weigh least on a Thursday morning and always weigh more on a Saturday, which is the day I record my weight. It's annoying, but I'm getting used to it.

How odd, I wonder why that happens!

PearlsPearl · 20/09/2025 19:17

Just me popping in to say I did a SEVENTY MINUTE round trip walk to see waterfalls today. And I coped fine. 70 mins! Who even am I?! Couldn’t walk to the bottom of my road and now this. 🌟💖

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 20/09/2025 19:41

Oh @PearlsPearl isnt that exciting!!! I'm so pleased for you. I've not been keeping up my walking recently but it's been so exciting it's just become normal to be able to do this (I resent even more than ever people saying m. Obese are lazy. It took me far more effert to do my "6mins" I used to do than it does me to walk an hour now. It's just so much easier...). I still on pretry much every trip with my kids point out to everyone "look I'm walking!". I'm going to Scotland at easter and am so hoping to have stamina to walk then!

@Rainbowcat77 If I remember I was think you lost a lot early on? They do often say to aim for 1-2lb a week so if you've been over that I think sometimes the body just has a week or so to readjust. I know when I started I looked at some shotsy graphs on reddit where if you looked it looked like a straight line going down. But when you zoomed in you could see how it wasn't linear but sometimes big drops, sometimes sts or a gain etc. I weigh a lot and it's taken a whole but I'm slowly detaching emotion from whether I've gained or lost and seeing it more as a number to record. Another thing is to look at an average over a month rather than just over one week. How is it looking overall? For anyone in our group it will be a long term project so we need to be thinking of "life in a year /however many months" rather than being too worried about weights week to week. That said I'm so close to being under 100k I will celebrate when I am! But I've found it helpful to look at stone/half stone milestones and bmi etc rather than 1-2lbs different.

All sorts of thigns can raise weight. Sometimes it's more water if you happened to have something salty, or if you've exercised hard or been unwell... Lots of water retention reasons. Or literally the weight of water/poop in your body. I weigh less after a "big wee" or a poop. We really want fat loss but the water weight will go up and down so the weight we record isn't always the real figure anyway it can be a bit above or below. (Have a google for "fat loss vs weight loss" videos it really changed my perspective)

Apologies if all this is obvious and it was just a sharing frustration post - but it wasn't obvious early on to me and I'd get hung up every week for a bit.

That was really helpful @FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden and good reminder!

Rainbowcat77 · 20/09/2025 20:34

@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGardenI don’t think so really, I’ve lost 21lb in approx 2months so it’s a respectable amount but not a huge loss I don’t think. I know really that slow and steady is the way to go it’s just that (probably like a lot here) I’ve failed so many times that I panic and get disheartened fast!
Thank you for your wise words though…I’m here for the long haul and I do need to exercise a little more patience.
well done on your weight loss, under 100kg will be a fantastic milestone!

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 20/09/2025 21:02

You're doing amazingly! 21/8 is over 2 and half pounds a week so that's the opposite of slow and steady! Don't be disappointed ❤️. Slow and steady might be in my mind 0.5-1lb a week. 1-2 is usually quoted as ideal (although everyone's different!). Providers often say you could lose "upto" 20% of your weight in a year to give an idea of what's counted as a success.

Honestly - the people here far ahead of me will remember my first couple of months (and the month or two before). I was so very anxious, and so fearful that this would be another thing I'd try and it would not work, and I was fixating on every little thing. Which was why I was posting really - to encourage you that it's a long term thing and it really does just keep working. It's not like a diet where you give up after a few months and the weight goes back on, or you have a big stall and start binging and give up. The Glp-1 just keeps working in the background. Now that I'm 8months in (wow I can't believe it's 8months) I can absolutely say it's lifechanging.

For me I moved to focusing on good nutrition and exercise. And tried to value adding a variety of fruit or adding nuts or walking most days in the week or for soemthing achievable rather than the arbitrary number on the scales. The amazing thing is over time it just keeps going down 😁. I did slow down in August and in the first few months had a few times where it almost sts for 3 weeks but then dropped. I'll add my shotsy from then.

Yet hrough my whole time I've averaged 2lb a week I think but it will slow now. And some weeks it doesn't move and some it does a woosh! It's amazing how it all adds up.

I'll stop waffling now! Ignore any that's irritating or not helpful. I just remember being so anxious early on and how lovely and helpful it was the long-timers were explaining these things to me!

Morning everybody, can I ask a question?
I was expecting to record a 2-3lb weekly weight loss this morning (from weights I have seen other days through the week) but randomly I appear to have stayed the same or even gained half a pound.
I’m also very whingy…low mood and feel like bursting into tears.
if I still had periods I would assume I was due on but I haven’t had one in 18 months. Can you still go through these cycles even without the period.

I’m finding this process so hard just now.

I have had exactly the same thing today. I know that I've kept to the correct calorie deficit, have exercised and done everything the same as the weeks where I have lost. After I finished pouting and having a bit of a stomp around the house, I decided that I was expecting too much to have a loss every week and that occasional small gains or maintains are probably good for my body so that I don't lose too much too quickly (saggy skin, gallbladder issues). So chin up and look forward to the loss next week, I know I am

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 20/09/2025 22:06

I remember when you started on MJ @FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden

You've done remarkably well!

And you're so right when you say that the MJ carries on working in the background, and that weightloss isn't linear.

It's taken me 21 months to lose 8st 2lb and I've only got about 20lb to go.

But it's really slowed down in the last few months. Some weeks I lose 0.5lb.

I'm trusting the process though.

I'm just about to move down into a new stone bracket. I'll be 11st something soon - I'm just waiting for it to happen.

Blondeshavemorefun · 20/09/2025 22:47

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 20/09/2025 09:54

I'm really glad you're happy with your decision, but you've wasted 80% of that pen @SecretNameforMN so you've essentially thrown away just over £87.

I can understand why you would see it that way, but it would have been wasted whether I'd injected the stuff into me or not because it wasn't doing anything for me that I couldn't do for myself.

Ever since I started, I have eaten one and a 1/2 meals a day. I fast for 18 hours, then I have a one bowl of food. Then 6 hours later, I have half a bowl of food. If i must have a snack i eat a small bag of salted mixed nuts. So I don't see that I need mounjaro.

Iwouldratherbesinging · 21/09/2025 00:02

There’s some amazing losses and achievements here! @MummyInTheNecropolis you must be so proud of yourself! @TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne and @SilenceInside congrats on 12 stone, I’m right behind you both and hope to hit a weight of 12 stone next week (fingers crossed), and @afaloren thats amazing, I so remember that feeling of euphoria 🎊

Can totally relate to the necklace stories, I had an extender on a chain that I’ve now removed but also my Apple Watch band is now too big! I have some cheap buckle type bands but the expensive Apple one is now flapping around on my wrist!
I can also officially report that all of a sudden I am now a size 16 🎉 both top and bottom! Had a bit of a shopping spree yesterday with my daughter, we shared changing rooms in each shop. I’ve never been able to do anything like that before and it was such a lovely experience, usually I’m just following her around as a ‘spectator’ and wishing I could fit into the clothes she was trying on. Oh, and I had to get a new coat, I know they come up large, but I had to buy a 14… I’ll be a super model soon 😂

I sorted out last years winter clothes that are all now too big so I’ll be busy listing on Vinted tomorrow. Most of them were purchased on Vinted as I was a few months into my MJ journey then. I’ll be coming up to my 1 year jabiversary next month, looking back it has gone so quickly.

sweet dreams everyone!

Blondeshavemorefun · 21/09/2025 00:17

Did they notice @Billybingbong

and those worrying about putting weight back on - we do all worry

I lost 4st 20yrs ago then put it back on and 2 more so 6s

I’ve lost 7s. Don’t want to gain it back and 2more so 9s to lose

we all need to have a buffer.

3/5lbs I’m guessing for myself

to Weigh weekly

so if get to 5lbs over your happy weight then really cut down and calorie count /fast /diet etc

far easier to lose 3/5lbs over a few weeks then 5s+

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 21/09/2025 00:34

Before and after photos. Not quite from the beginning, because I was disgusted with my photo from January 24, but these two are eleven months (and six stone) apart:

Looking good Broon!! I am jealous of your legs!

I’ve lost weight on my wrists too, my Apple Watch has gone down 2 notches. Oh that’s just reminded me; at Easter we bought a Pandora bracelet for me for my birthday next Jan (it was in the sale and the plan is for my son to give it to me) but I’ve just realised it’ll be too big now! Doh.

Doggymummar · 21/09/2025 09:04

Well done you look great. And you must feel so healthy

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 21/09/2025 09:48

@TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne As ever you look amazing. I can't believe your before one is 6stone heavier though! It's funny how our fat is all proportioned differently. I look pregnant still with 5stone to go!

This is a current one of me - a million times better than I was in January but still very round (and more so when I put my arms down!)

Great achievement @FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden

I'm not weighing now until after my holiday so wish me luck.

I met some older family yesterday and one said I'd gone thin! Thin!!! I was sat down she couldn't see my legs which still need to get the message 😂
