We're getting there.
Slowly and surely, we're losing weight.

Come and join us if you have a significant amount of weight to lose.

@TheZingyFish it sounds like you are doing really well. Talking with my DD, she too has talked about no longer having food as a thing to deal with difficult thoughts and feelings. Having to find new coping strategies.

I don't think it is possible to lose a lot of weight without it having significant impacts. Not just on ourselves but on the world around us. Start to lose weight and people will react.

Sometimes this reaction will be positive. Hopefully this will be the majority of the reactions.

But sometimes the reaction may be a bit ambivalent or even negative. How many people have experienced a slightly pitying reaction or even slight hostility?

Losing weight can change a group's dynamics. It isn't simply about not being the 'fat friend/relative'. But it is also saying something about changing the status quo.

By losing weight we are doing something for ourselves and as fat people we are supposed to focus on other people's needs not our own. That can be challenging in a group.

It is interesting what you say about how others react. I’ve noticed friends that have always been slim making comments about what they are eating a lot more now, or perhaps I’m noticing it more. For example, I’m obviously ordering and eating less, so they might drop a comment in that they are ordering something extra but it is a treat and they are taking some home, or offering me some leftovers. This is as well as the “don’t lose too much weight” comments, I can assure everyone I am nowhere near having lost too much weight yet.

I think it may be that I’m potentially not going to be the safety blanket in the group anymore, where I will always order and eat more than everyone else so they wont look “bad”. It is a strange time and I will be interested to see how things develop further as I’m still of a size where I still stand out as the “fat friend” but hopefully that will not be the case in the future.

Lds1 · 06/10/2025 11:37

I've put on a kg since Thursday, how!? 🤣 Hopefully be gone again soon.

@PearlsPearl there's a huge difference 😄

Kay2000 · 06/10/2025 11:45

I just wanted to share some jeans I’ve found from JD Williams that fit and are so comfy. I started trying a 24 and have ended up with a 20, as they are generous fitting and stretchy, but I’m a 22 in most stuff now, so definitely size down. They’re the Simply Be Chocolate Pleat Wide Leg Jeans and there’s a 25% off code you can use. Highly recommended. I bought a 3 pack of tops and I finally look like I’ve lost weight, now I’m not still wearing my 26/28 clothes. Definitely a NSV 🎉

PearlsPearl · 06/10/2025 11:50

@Billybingbong I'm really inspired by you today! A 3 mile walk to walk the cobwebs off and a skinny latte instead of hitting old behaviours. Well done you <3

TragicMuse · 06/10/2025 17:15

The difference in you is brilliant @PearlsPearl be proud of yourself!

Fffreeeeezing · 06/10/2025 17:27

Just come back from a very warm 7km dog walk and I could definitely have gone further (dog definitely could, she doesn't have an off button). I think I may have a sunburnt face 🥵 Going to have to give in soon and buy some new leggings as mine are epically sagging now but I am trying to drag all my clothes out for as long as possible to avoid having to buy new ones!

OvertiredandConfused · 06/10/2025 17:47

@PearlsPearl that's fabulous progress - well done!

52soon · 06/10/2025 17:53

Huge NSV for me today, had my diabetic review today, after 24 weeks of MJ I have reversed my diabetes and can come off metformin, my bloods were in normal levels down to 36. She has increased my MJ to 10mg on my request and will recheck me in 6months. She is also doing a 7day blood pressure review and I might be able to stop those tablets too🎉 31lb down so far. BMI 41.9 down from 47.8.

MummyInTheNecropolis · 06/10/2025 22:08

That’s brilliant @52soon you must be so pleased!

I got DD to take a photo of me tonight to compare to my starting photo. 10.5 stone between these two photos!

@MummyInTheNecropolis what a difference in those pictures, you look amazing. I can’t imagine ever being able to lose over 10 stone but I need to if I want a BMI of 21. Well done on all your hard work.

Iwouldratherbesinging · 07/10/2025 07:41

That’s an incredible difference there @MummyInTheNecropolis! Definitely a different person, you should be very proud!

Iwouldratherbesinging · 07/10/2025 07:51

Weigh day for me today, randomly I dropped 3.5lbs! I have no idea how, definitely a woosh there. So today I weigh 11stone 11.5lbs, I still have to pinch myself.
My clothing size seems to have dropped rapidly all of a sudden, I’m now a 16 top and a 14 bottom, 18 months ago I was buying 30/32 tops and 26/28 bottoms, crazy changes!
I’ll have been on Mounjaro for a whole year on Thursday and it seems to have flown by.

mamabeeboo · 07/10/2025 09:57

@GnomeDePlume @TheZingyFish The reactions of others are very interesting. On Reddit, people say how they have lost friends and all sorts when they have lost weight. I read about this with some worry as to what will happen to me and my friends.

I read about a particularly horrible case of someone losing circa 10 stone, and whilst out with friends, someone at the table pulled out their phone to say "look at what she used to look like everyone!!" and showed the old photo of her around the table. It was dressed up in a "well I'm just showing everyone how far you have come". But MY GOD what a bitch.

PearlsPearl · 07/10/2025 10:00

@MummyInTheNecropolis wow 😍what an amazing transformation, your figure is unreal!

mamabeeboo · 07/10/2025 10:08

@SilenceInside @Bibulous @Lds1
It can be very hard to navigate in a world where we are literally here losing a whole person off us.

I said before in a previous thread, I have never felt more fat than when I proudly told some work colleagues I had lost 4 stone, and their mouth dropped open, exclaiming THAT IS SO MUCH!!!

To me it wasn't much because I wasn't even halfway to my goal and was still a size 22, so I was really taken aback by the shock and I stewed on it for that night thinking about how I didn't want to feel like that again. So I decided I will keep how much I'm losing to myself. I also carry my weight well because, thankfully I'm tall and proportionate. So it means I weighed much more than anyone probably realised.

Now I have a blanket phrase that I have "lost 2 stone, with another 2 to go."

Now I'm coming up to 6 stone down, size 18 and the loss is getting very obvious now.

NSV - DH can now pick me up 🤗

Iwouldratherbesinging · 07/10/2025 11:04

Is it the reverse of a NSV that I no longer qualify for a flu or covid jab now? 😆

😅

Although, only if you update your weight with the GP - as long as your records say you're eligible, no one will weigh you - I lost 10st a few years ago but kept getting my free flu jab.

When I got the shots last year I was asked by the nurse what my eligibility criteria was - all 20 stone of me sat there and whispered ‘because I’m morbidly obese’, she nodded and gave me the jabs. I vaguely remember being asked the year before as well, if I was asked again I’d get flustered as I’m not very good with making things up on the spot 😂. I’ll pay for them this time around

MummyInTheNecropolis · 07/10/2025 12:30

Thanks everyone, I’m still struggling to believe that this is what I look like now! Think it will take my brain a while to catch up with my body.

MummyInTheNecropolis · 07/10/2025 12:31

Oh and I have a flu jab booked in a couple of weeks, I hope they won’t query it!

Autumnflowers2 · 07/10/2025 12:38

So I only lost 2 lbs in the whole of August
And today I weigh exactly a stone less than I weighed on the 2 August.
But we are in October now
I've had to drop my calories very low to get the weight loss in September.
Worried I won't be able to keep it up when I'm off the jabs .

Autumnflowers2 · 07/10/2025 12:40

I'm a carer,so I get the jabs for that .as I go in for them at the same time as my thin friend who is also a carer ...no other reason we always get called at the same time .

Flu and COVID ..not weight loss jabs ...I wish I could get them for being a carer tho

TragicMuse · 07/10/2025 14:30

I get the flu and covid because diabetic and with high blood pressure and cholesterol. But they’re all coming down so who knows what will come next year.

GnomeDePlume · 07/10/2025 14:40

@MummyInTheNecropolis amazing transformation!
