Anyone interested in a post-MJ thread? For people coming off completely?

I wondered if anyone is coming off Mounjaro completely and looking to maintain or continue losing weight?

I'm half way through my last pen and coming off earlier than planned due to the price rise and fatigue with the whole process.

Kittkats · 16/10/2025 18:49

Yes, I think that’s what I’m scared of too. I responded so fast to MJ it was easy to assume I’d maintain just as easily, but this hunger is scaring me I may not…
Can I ask how often you’re weighing? When I was thin I used to diet for a day or 2 if I gained and it would go. I’m thinking I may need to weigh daily to catch it early, but half of me thinks it’d be so depressing if I couldn’t do anything once I did catch it iyswim!

Kittkats · 16/10/2025 18:52

Also, have you tried grapefruit? It’s a long shot, but they were researching it for years as it helps with insulin resistance and glycogen metabolism (so similar to MJ), especially when eaten with protein- good for diabetes and weight loss apparently but not good for drug companies!

RightImDoingThis · 16/10/2025 19:03

I weigh every morning @Kittkats.

You may be gaining but with exercise especially weight lifting, then you're probably gaining a lot of muscle, especially if you've dropped a dress size, which means a more toned body. Try not to focus on the weight gain as this is to be expected with muscle building.
I'll be starting this too in next few months. Just trying to lose my last few lbs with my remaining 1.5 mounjaro 10mg pens. I'm bmi 23.3 and 9st 5.5lbs my thinking being if I have less fat on my body before strength training then I'll be more toned and see physical changes better on my body...but who knows! I'll be increasing my calories and try not to weigh daily as I know ill gain with increased muscle!

Ah nice to see a thread! I’ve lost 9 stone on MJ. Down to 13st11. I’ve titrated down (couldn’t afford it!!) and have been completely off it for 2 weeks. I’m at 14stone this morning but a big factor for me is running - I’ve just run a half marathon, and am training for a full at the end of November and a short ultra in March, and I’ve had a week after my race where I couldn’t run at all due to blisters which I suspect is the reason for the gain.
food wise I’ve got more appetite but I’m surprised I’m not eating everything in sight. I miss getting on the scales and losing more than I thought - ideally I’d like to lose another stone and a half. I’m seeing how it goes - I will NOT put on the weight again.

RightImDoingThis · 21/10/2025 12:56

Hi! Good to have a fellow traveller. I think a few pounds on is expected for us all. Apart from the blisters how are you feeling? Do you feel any different off the jabs?

OP posts:
OrlandointheWilderness · 21/10/2025 16:12

Yes it’s nice to talk to people who know what you are going through!
ha blisters easing now thankfully, did & miles yesterday and a fast 3 today.
i feel no difference at all, a couple of emotional moments which I suspect was hormone related but that can also happen in the days following a big race and the half I did on the 12 was a hard one.
today I’m feeling fab. I’ve just realised I’m in the best physical shape of my life, I’m the fittest I’ve ever been certainly. I’m so so thankful for MJ, I really am. It’s changed my life and I suspect extended it by quite some time.
how is everyone else coping?

RightImDoingThis · 21/10/2025 19:15

I’m feeling really positive and energetic. I hadn’t realised how “flat” I’d got on the jabs. Also anxious over the dangers of the jabs.

PurpleFlower1983 · 29/10/2025 18:08

I’ve gained 10lbs since coming off but been on a US holiday in that time. It’s creeping back up though so I need to make sure I stay with the calorie counting. Alcohol is my downfall

So, we're in a pretty similar place @PurpleFlower1983 ?

OP posts:
Kittkats · 30/10/2025 07:19

This scares me a bit. I’m still titrating off, and the first 2 weeks titrating down (3.75mg) I lost a couple more lbs, but this week I’m fluctuating up and down by 3lb (though that isn’t helped by a stressful work week, carbs, increased appetite, decreased willpower and wine). I’m going for have to really focus on my habits as if I can gain on a low dose it feels pretty hopeless when I stop :(

RightImDoingThis · 30/10/2025 08:16

Yes, it is sobering.

OP posts:
Nunenco · 30/10/2025 11:44

Not taking MJ for a few months now. I’m weighing once a month and was convinced I had put some weight back on but lost 3 pounds this month. Happy with that but considering ordering a low dose Wegovy to help over the Christmas period.

DrMonjo · 30/10/2025 14:15

The nausea and appetite suppression put me off quite a few of my 'healthy' go tos.
Salmon and spinach, lentil &bacon soup, anything too cheesy all became a bit boak. Can I ask if you have regained the desire to eat much loved items ?

Nunenco · 30/10/2025 16:24

My diet is much better not on MJ. I eat well. My issue is portion sizes. Whilst on MJ I didn’t eat very well at all. I mostly ate white toast as it was the only thing I could bear eating and a jacket potato on occasion. Things I would normally not eat very often. When I eat bread I go for granary or sourdough never white. I read so much on these boards about improving diet but sadly I couldn’t do it.

RightImDoingThis · 30/10/2025 17:38

That's brilliant @Nunenco! Congratulations on your success. @DrMonjo yes, mine did. On the jabs I ate well and small portions as I soon felt stuffed and uncomfortable. Off the jabs I have continued with the high protein, high fibre, wide variety of plants and cooking from scratch, but the UPF snacks have snuck back in.

Yes it looks like it! My biggest challenge has definitely been alcohol and the urge to snack on a night! I’m determined to have a good November by getting myself back to the gym and doing a slimming world style diet. December will be a challenge for me!

I am a couple of pounds up after half term involving hotel breakfasts and lots of meals out. I waited a few days to weigh myself to let the bloat disappear.
People who say, you can’t put on a few pounds of fat in a week. Well, I can. That’s why I was overweight in the first place. Weight never falls off me. I have not jabbed 5 months out of the last 7 and I am 5lbs above my ideal top bracket weight. So not disastrous.
I am torn between trying to get a couple of pens to get me safely in the comfort zone. ( not sure if I can but my bmi is 26) Or how to change things up to lose 5lbs? I am exercising lots ( good) but drinking wine daily ( not good). When I’ve done dry Jan before I’ve never lost a pound either so that isn’t the magic answer!
Motivational messages very welcome!

RightImDoingThis · 06/11/2025 17:44

Hi @Sadteacher is it worth getting some advice on your current diet and habits as it sounds like you're not sure what's causing the problem? You could use ChatGPT for this?

What are you eating day to day. Perhaps try logging on my fitness pal? The first 2kg on after a diet is just muscle glycogen though not fat. Drinking is extra calories to burn.

Also try one of the maintenance pharmacies as long as it’s not over a year since last jab, I use Swift. Probably need to start again at 2.5mg.
