Anyone interested in a post-MJ thread? For people coming off completely?

I wondered if anyone is coming off Mounjaro completely and looking to maintain or continue losing weight?

I'm half way through my last pen and coming off earlier than planned due to the price rise and fatigue with the whole process.

Could you do 4x weeks of 2.5? Buy yourself time to rebuild your good habits?

OP posts:
Kittkats · 08/10/2025 21:34

I could, definitely, but not sure I want to lose much more. Might be worth a try though and I can always decrease further if still losing.
I’ve averaged over 3lbs a week throughout (and I had a slight gain on holiday!) so 4 weeks sounds like a potentially big loss.

RightImDoingThis · 10/10/2025 19:04

My results so far:
Last day of jab: 11st 6
1 week later 11st 5
2 weeks later (holiday) 11st 8
3 weeks later 11st 8
4 weeks later 11st 9
5 weeks later 11st 10

So, I'm putting on a pound a week. The main difference, that I can see, is that on the jabs I had a very small appetite two days a week. I don't have that suppression any longer. My calories on those two days could definitely be sufficient for putting on a pound a week.

The other difference, as noted last week, is that I'm happier. I'm enjoying my food and do not have the worry of the jabs. I'm also smaller. For the first time in years, my current dress size is feeling a bit too baggy.

It's depressing being a statistic and seeing the scales up predictably up though.

@RightImDoingThis Would you say you're tracking your calories or just trying to eat more mindfully, since coming off?

Sorry to be clear, you’ve gained four pounds but are smaller to the extent your dress is baggy?

RightImDoingThis · 11/10/2025 09:08

Sorry to be clear, you’ve gained four pounds but are smaller to the extent your dress is baggy? Yes. 4lb on the scales and had to buy new tops, trousers and jeans.

Would you say you're tracking your calories or just trying to eat more mindfully, since coming off? I record my food on Nutracheck so I can keep an eye on my macros and salt, but of course it also counts my calories, iyswim? So I can look back and see that the difference is on the two days where I had high suppression and weaker habits on the jabs.

wow, that must be a first, I’ve never heard of anyone drop a dress size in five weeks and 4 lbs gain

Beanie567 · 11/10/2025 09:33

Didn’t you say you’d upped the exercise? I’m still on MJ, coming off in 3 weeks but weight lifting definitely stalled the weight loss but my shape continued to reduce.

Edited

Some of the gain (up to 2kg) will be muscle glycogen from being less restrictive about carbs. Some could be actual muscle gain. Fat loss likely to continue which is the reduced size. Doesn’t surprise me.

Yep, so much more energy! Weight lifting is showing great gains, can push it so much more in my cardio class too, and daily step average increased from 9k to 12k. Feeling so happier.

Yes, all of this I think.

That is very difficult to achieve for even the most dedicated athletes over an extended period, never mind in a month.

i don’t mean muscle gain I mean muscle glycogen, it’s circa 2-3kg and lose it when cut back on carbs and gain it back when eat more of them. That’s why always lose a lot on first week of diet.

Hi guys - I'm guna jump on too if that's ok..ie joined a few threads today so I apologise if you see me in other ones too.

I'm taking my last 2.5mg next weekend and then I'm stopping it so just wanted to join a few threads for some moral support while I navigate this next bit.

I started at 17st 2lb with a BMI 38.7 and I'm now 3st down at 14st 1.5lb with a BMI of 31.7.
I have about 9lb to get to my target of 13st 7lb, BMI 30.5 🤞🏻

Any advice? Xx

Can I ask why you’re stopping, is it cost or are you struggling with the drugs?

Yeah of course. The cost didn't help but I had always planned to go 6 pens and then stop as we're hoping to TTC in the new year and I need at least 2mths off jabs before we can BUT in addition to that I had some bloods recently and i found I had elevated LFTs (liver function tests) which was an incidental finding but could be linked to taking glp-1 (although it's a rare side effect) as I can't identify any other cause for it so I want to have a few months off if before I have repeat bloods in a few months to see if it improves.

RightImDoingThis · 13/10/2025 18:40

Welcome @SausageRoll90!

From what I've read, the advice is the same as for anyone after they've been on any form of diet. Importantly what you're eating - prioritise protein, fibre and a range of plants, and avoid sugars and UPFs.
After diet, it's a case of sleeping well, reducing stressors and moving your body (strength, cardio and walking).

Easy ;)

How are you all getting on? I’m titrating down so not there yet, but am feeling hungry more and having to actively avoid snacking. I imagine this gets much harder?

RightImDoingThis · 16/10/2025 09:34

I’m really struggling psychologically. Been seriously considering going back on and decided I’d restart on Thursday. Then I read some posts about lethargy and anxiety over bad side effects. This made me realise that although I’m worried about the weight going on, I’m actually much happier. So I’m going to leave the jabs in the fridge for now.

OP posts:
Kittkats · 16/10/2025 14:06

What are you finding hardest psychologically? You’ve done so well, just curious.

RightImDoingThis · 16/10/2025 14:37

The fact that my weight re-gain is so statistically predictable! I wanted to be in the minority that buck the trend.

OP posts:
Wildfairy · 16/10/2025 14:46

But if you’re getting so much smaller so fast, does this not help the mental issues over the number on the scale?

RightImDoingThis · 16/10/2025 15:10

“Mental issues” is not how I’d frame it. Yes, wearing size 12s feels great.
