Anyone interested in a post-MJ thread? For people coming off completely?

I wondered if anyone is coming off Mounjaro completely and looking to maintain or continue losing weight?

I'm half way through my last pen and coming off earlier than planned due to the price rise and fatigue with the whole process.

What I never understand about threads like this is why it always attract people who want to continue on the jab. They come in droves with all their ‘studies’ and ‘research’ . Like really, do you think anyone can’t Google what they want to learn more about. As the thread title says
Anyone interested in a post-MJ thread? For people coming off completely?
can the thread be just that? there are lots of places to discuss MJ and all it’s benefits so discuss your experiences and studies there. Going on maintenance without the jab is not taking away from your experience so I don’t know why you just want to make sure nobody does.
For cost, side effects, medication contraindications etc reasons, so many people will have to maintain without the jab so coming here to tell them they can’t do it is not helpful is it?
Anyway op, just as with any weight loss method, the only key to maintain the loss is not to revert to the way things were. How you do it and how far you can depends only on you.
Maintenance is a personal journey and that’s what I’ve found and fingers crossed that you’ll find the best method to maintain your weight loss.

Good grief, I guess the comments hit a sore spot. People were not coming in their droves nor does anyone want to make sure no one comes off. What an odd little thought. I understand you’re upset and it hit a nerve, but hyperbole doesn’t really do any favours.

RightImDoingThis · 22/09/2025 17:41

I appreciated the intervention as I think my hints were a bit too subtle :)

Good day here - hit my protein, fibre, step and weight lifting goals!

@SecretNameforMN but that would work even better with MJ. It's really really not just about "food noise". You can do any diet regime you like while on it. Not to be horrible but at your BMI it really is worth a proper try for at least a few months as you have a really dangerous situation there. Why start, take one dose and stop? Did it have effects you didn't like? Something must have happened?

Sadteacher · 22/09/2025 19:55

I still catch up on the other maintenance thread but wonder if it makes me wobble I can’t manage without it. Anyway, I’m over a month without mj now.
My positivity: re subscribed to nutracheck today. Realised my morning Greek yoghurt portion was getting way too big. Went to the gym after work… definitely a new habit I am trying to stick to. I stopped just before I was at goal but am feeling confident I can tackle the last half stone.

RightImDoingThis · 22/09/2025 20:05

How have the scales been in the last month @Sadteacher ? (Apologies if I've already asked this).

Given all of the celebratory eating last week, I've given myself four weeks to maintain my "diet" (protein, fibre, UPFs, portion size etc.) and get in to a routine of less cardio, more weight lifting and longer walks. That'll take me to mid October and I'll have a re-think.

Sorry to have offended you but to be clear the book does discuss stopping and micro-dosing and intermittent usage of WLS. If you are interested in the science it is really worth a read. I'm definitely not of the opinion that everyone has to stay on the meds, it's obvious that is not possible for everyone.

But science! It's a fascinating read.

Kittkats · 23/09/2025 08:50

Can I join to lurk and learn? I’m planning to stop in 4 jabs time, but want to get a little below goal first to give me a buffer!
I’m hoping the meds have given me a reset metabolism wise. Most of the endocrine system and a lot of neurotransmitters work on a feedback system, so it’s entirely possible that it may have reset my metabolism at least to an extent. I’m hoping with increased water, protein and sleep I can maintain my new, improved metabolism (my actual calorie intake isn’t dissimilar to pre MJ, but thanks to these changes and other effects I’ve gone from BMI 28.9 to 22.9).
Looking forward to positive stories and learning from you all!

RightImDoingThis · 23/09/2025 10:05

@Kittkats I’m new in this process but already finding I’m sleeping better and have more energy for exercise.
Thanks for the reminder to drink more water! I needed that nudge this morning.

@Kittkats welcome. I wish I’d a buffer but I stopped originally in April for holidays and wedding coming up.
I had a pen in June and another in August in a bid to nip in bud but still finished 6/7lbs above my goal weight.
I have realised I put on weight at Christmas and holidays but maintain well at other times. Will need a strategy for Christmas!

Kittkats · 23/09/2025 18:11

@Sadteacher thats great you maintain well without! Any tips?

Kittkats · 23/09/2025 18:15

@RightImDoingThis The improved sleep would be amazing! I’ve definitely noticed i lost more on days I slept well on MJ, and less or even gained after a bad night. I think getting a handle on sleep would make a massive difference to how hard I’m going to find maintenance.

I spend all my time trying to lose the last few pounds and yet stay the same 😂
Hoping nutracheck will help. Every calorie counts when you’re a shortie like me!

Kittkats · 27/09/2025 08:37

Does anyone have any thoughts on the best way to stop? I’m getting closer and a bit nervous!
Do I plan to titrate down? Microdose my way off? Stop completely from 5mg to zero?

RightImDoingThis · 27/09/2025 09:45

From what I can remember from my reading, using small split doses for as long as possible had the greatest chance of success.

My results so far:
Last day of jab: 11st 6
1 week later 11st 5
2 weeks later (holiday) 11st 8
3 weeks later 11st 8

I'm happy about this in so far as given the extra holiday eating and bumped up weight-lifting I think a static 2lb gain is absolutely fine. I'm not happy about this in so far as I know old unhelpful habits are sneaking back in. Need to remember that it's been that time of the month where I really do crave sugar and carbs and this weekend is a great opportunity to re-focus on my good habits.

I’ve been off it since the second week of Aug. Things are going ok but I stilll don’t feel as if I’ve truly dealt with my food issues.

Is anyone planning on using it intermittently? To deal with holiday weight for example.

RightImDoingThis · 27/09/2025 16:35

Yes @OntheTrainX . I came off with 1 stone to go (and two pens in the fridge). I think I'm going to use them in the Spring.

OP posts:
RightImDoingThis · 27/09/2025 16:49

I must say, I'm enjoying the break. No general feelings of fatigue, nausea or headachy. No nightmares(!) so I'm sleeping better. Energy levels are great - I feel able to do more exercise and am enjoying that too.

Today's eating has been fine, very healthy and no unhealthy choices.

OP posts:
Sadteacher · 27/09/2025 18:29

@OntheTrainX I would feel better if I knew I could definitely get another pen. I have history with Medexpress and Oushk. I want to give it a few months to try myself first though. Currently calorie counting and gym. Staying stable but still want to lose a few pounds, I’m still over a healthy bmi but feel a healthy size 10/12

Same here except a size 12.

Kittkats · 27/09/2025 20:26

I’m thinking I may order a 2.5mg from Swift doctor while I can prove recent order history with photos. They’ll let you have a break up to 12 months and reorder with BMI over 21. It’d give me a bit of a safety net… does mean £139 on a pen I may never use though so undecided.

Sadteacher · 04/10/2025 07:48

So I’ve been using nutracheck for 2 weeks and have lost nothing the first week and then 2 lbs this week. I’ve gone from ahh I need the injections again, to thinking I can do it! I am only a couple of pounds above my top weight I am happy with again.
Counting calories and weighing things has led to a few swaps in my daily diet, I didn’t realise how my breakfast portion of Greek yoghurt was so big!
Im hoping to lose a few more pounds before Christmas as I usually put on half a stone. Though I will of course be more mindful this year.

RightImDoingThis · 04/10/2025 08:20

2 weeks later (holiday) 11st 8
3 weeks later 11st 8
3 weeks later 11st 9

So, the weight is going on, but I'm happy. Eating food just makes me happy. I thought I was a comfort-eater (and I probably still am) but I also really just enjoy eating. And I enjoy the energy I have and the extra exercise I am doing.

The hunger has definitely increased. My tummy wakes me up grumbling at about 4am (but I do stop eating about 5pm, I am not an evening eater).

Decisions, decisions.

Lost 9lbs since coming off about a months ago. Gone back to16:8 and doing fine in terms of eating and food noise. Still appreciate not having side effects. Will carry on for another month and then try a low dose W to see how that goes in terms of side effects and hopefully use it over Christmas to keep me on track and back to 16:8 in Jan. that’s the plan at least, but plans change!

Backgroundnoises · 04/10/2025 21:54

SW Feb 2nd: 15 stone 6.5 lbs
CW. 11 stone 6lbs
TW. 11 stone. (Should be 10 and a half but I'm starting to look gaunt)
Started titrating gradually down from 10mg 5 weeks ago, am now at 5mg and have lost 6.5lbs in that period. I've experimented with 10 days between jabs but I'm so fed up with the nausea, I'm going back to weekly now to get it over with. I've got 20mg left in my pen which will give me roughly 8 weeks to lose the last 6lbs - 1 more week at 5mg then reducing the dose by 5 clicks each week till it's gone.
I'm getting the 16:8, lower carb, high protein and veg, and low upf way of eating established now as I've found it the best way in the past of not putting the weight back on. I've also sent all my 18s and 20s to the charity shop and bought a whole new wardrobe of 14s so hoping that'll keep me alert to any weight going back on. Calorie counting does not work for me. I get insanely hungry and food obsessed and it doesn't take long for the binge eating and weight gain to kick in. Eat what you like but keep it to real food and in the shortest eating window you feel comfortable with, that's my mantra now and Dr Jason Fung's videos on YouTube explain why that's more likely to work for me than calorie counting.
Good luck everyone. It's a scary transition. I've been willing to tolerate 8 months of low level nausea to get down to a healthy weight but no way could I contemplate feeling like this indefinitely so it's time.

Kittkats · 08/10/2025 07:54

So, I’m nearly at goal now but, with 3lb to go, I’m looking skinnier than I hoped. I can see my ribs on my upper chest, which isn’t a good look!

I’ve got the golden dose left in a 7.5mg, but as I only ever used 5mg from it that’s at least 2 doses.
Next jab would be Friday but I guess it’s time to start titrating down so I need to decide how to do that. It doesn’t help that right now my habits are a t their worst. I’ve had a horrendous virus for nearly 2 weeks and have been eating easy rather than healthy! Calories haven’t changed, but carbs have increased, protein has decreased and water intake has halved! Plus I had wine at the weekend. I really don’t feel mentally ready to stop!
