Can anyone explain the science behind needing to go up to 5? Why do losses slow down? Is it because the supression isn't there so you eat more/snack or is it deeper than that? Like if someone kept eating healthy, similar to what they've eaten the first 4 weeks or so, would they not continue to lose? I'm genuinely curious, what do the higher doses do that starts the losses up again?

My understanding is that 2.5 is the titration dose and 5mg is the maintenance dose. I’m a nurse and often we titrate patients up from a starting dose to a maintenance dose so that’s why I opted to increase. Having said that, the best option for any medication is to be on the lowest efficacious dose so I would say if 2.5 is working for you, stick with that. I was still getting hunger pangs and my weight loss had plateaued so I opted to increase. Everyone will react differently so there’s no one size fits all.

I've also just down the golden dose, I wasn't going to, then realising it's still within its lifetime, why not

The pen wasn't even that difficult to twist back into position to inject

does anyone know how much there is in that dose?

NeedSleepNow · 03/09/2025 22:13

Does anyone know how long asda are taking to approve/deliver orders at the moment? I've got 2 more doses (plus golden dose) left in current pen and I'm not sure when to reorder.

TheArtfulCrow · 03/09/2025 23:11

Im on W5 D4, I stuck with the 2.5mg and I have more food noise than before and not as much suppression. Im still eating less and making better choices though so will just have to use my willpower to stick at it! I'll move up to 5mg next time.

I ordered 20 Aug and got approved today

I finally heard from med express today and they’ve agreed to cancel + refund my order. I have not found their customer service to be responsive at all.

Had a chunky Kit Kat this evening. First time I’ve craved chocolate since I started. Enjoyed it but now feel a bit guilty. 🙄

Thank you @peanutbutty i'll order my next pen soon then.

Feeling a bit disappointed today. My next jab is tomorrow and I decided to hop on the scales this morning and have put on 1/2 lb. I've been tracking what I'm eating and have been eating sensibly 🙁

I think I will definitely move up to 5mg for my next pen

saywhaaaaaat · 04/09/2025 08:58

Morning all. W7 jab day here and feeling good. It's been a fairly stressful, busy, emotional few days/weeks/lifetime but now the kids are back at school, I'm starting to catch up with work etc, feeling a bit more grounded. My period came, a few days later than normal, but not out of the range of normal. I have not managed to get to the gym this week but going to try today and at least get some strength in.

I am now down to 85.7kg, so I'm pretty happy with that. I am really starting to notice when I look in the mirror as well which is really nice. I'm so fortunate that 2.5mg seems to be working well for me.

I'm hoping that I might be able to get to goal by Christmas at this rate (lol, hoping being operative). I think if I can get through winter and keep habits going, self care on point (bought myself a red light mask and have been investing in supplements and skincare etc too) that I can make it all stick.

We shall see though.

LaGioiosanotLeviosa · 04/09/2025 10:44

Jab 4 today so in three weeks I’ve lost 8lbs (1.5lbs this week). It seems less than other people but I’m pleased with it as I’m a slow loser and know I’m doing all I can. I hope I continue to lose this week too!

Lemonadegg · 04/09/2025 11:07

I took my fourth dose of 2.5mg today. I’ve lost 10lb in 3 weeks, 5lb first week, 4lb last week and 1lb this week. Really happy :)

Adding Chia seeds to yogurt or cereal (with lots of water or these can make things worse) or kiwi fruit with the skin on.

Are you drinking enough water? I’ve been eating dried apricots every now and then and that seems to help things along.

I have to really keep my fibre up or I get constipation too, especially the 3 days post shot.

I take magnesium citrate and magnesium glycinate which helps 💩 and the last few days I’ve been making homemade soup for dinner.

Yesterdays soup was broccoli and black eyed peas with spinach, kale and lots of onion cooked in bone broth. Blended in pan with stick blender Added some parmesan to garnish. 34g of fiber! Really easy to eat. I couldn’t have eaten 4 cups of broccoli florets and half s can of beans but whizzed up into a soup I managed a second helping an hour later.

SkinnyOatFlatWhiteForMePlease · 04/09/2025 15:20

I’m having Chia seeds daily and 2.5-3L of water a day plus 2 coffees, fruit and veg.

I might try magnesium, on my weekly trip to Holland and Barrett tomorrow 🫣🤣.

sfraxx · 04/09/2025 18:19

Evening all,
well today, I was so hungry my stomach was growling, had a tin of soup and the suppression since is a lot. Made some dinner and had 2 bites.
ive not drank as much water as I should have today maybe only 1 litre but have been so busy.
I’ll see how much I can get in between now and bedtime x

RedPony1 · 04/09/2025 20:19

Everyone is doing great! Well done!

i ordered my second pen yesterday as Simply sent me £25 off, staying on 2.5 for second pen, then prob need to move up to 5 i think for third pen onwards…. We’ll see!

AsteriaBuffy · 04/09/2025 22:14

Magnesium is the serious master blaster (soz 🤣)

Wellfuckme · 05/09/2025 07:30

Just done my 4th dose and have only lost 4lbs in total.

Appetite suppression is good, eating high fibre toast for breakfast, approx 130 calories, no snacks, sandwich or wrap for lunch. Not massively eating much after lunch, sometimes just a go-ahead slices at 140 calories. Coffee in morning, water during day and a cup of tea in evening.

What am I doing wrong?

LaGioiosanotLeviosa · 05/09/2025 07:52

What are you eating for tea? What are your tdee calories and are you hitting enough protein each day? Also drinking over 2 litres of water (on top of tea/coffee) is a must.
Do you not really have much weight to lose?
If it helps, my day looks a bit like this:
Breakfast: 2 scrambled eggs (no toast) some watermelon
Lunch: chicken with some salad leaves, some cottage cheese or Babybel lights
tea; whatever the family are having just a bit less and without the carb element (or a v small portion of it)
It comes to about 1100kcals a day

SkinnyOatFlatWhiteForMePlease · 05/09/2025 08:10

Thanks @AsteriaBuffy, will get some tomorrow and then plan for a WFH Monday as we have guests this weekend and I fear I traumatise them 🫣.

Break it down…

Start weight and Goal weight? If it’s a small amount to loose it won’t just fall off and 1lb a week - pick up a 450g tub of butter and imagine losing that each week.

What exactly are you eating in a day? Is it enough?

Are you eating anything else or is the above your lot for the day? I found the days I eat more (and panic that I’ll gain) that I actually end up losing more.

lol! It does depend which supplement you use, have a google about different magnesium compounds in supplements. This link is quite good for info

I’ve not been tracking what I eat. I’ve been missing breakfast, then having small lunch and dinner. And then the odd snack. I really need to start tracking though as I need to know how many calories to stick to per day.
