I'm on W3 of 2.5 and have bought second pen of 2.5

i was going to do 3.75 but my maths isn't mathing and i don't think i can do that with a 2.5 pen sadly!

You would need to do a full dose then a new needle and 30 clicks for the 2nd dose to get 3.75 from a 2.5 pen.

yeh i bought spare needles in anticipation, but i dont think theres enough in the pen to do that 4 times? my brain is fried!

oooo but there would be if i used my golden dose from this pen then 30 clicks from new pen?

Wellfuckme · 12/09/2025 15:56

Im on wk 5, done first dose of 5mg pen this morning.
SW - 18st 8lb
CW - 18st 1lb
Feeling disappointed with it so far, really thought i would have lost more. Generally had good suppression apart from this past week so I'm glad I've gone up in the dose and will see how this next week goes.

I am feeling deflated though as I really thought I would have lost more than this by now.

Golden dose plus 30 of new pen would give you week one then including golden dose in new pen leave you with another three weeks of 3.75.

Including golden dose a 2.5 pen has 12.5…
1.25 week 1 then 3.75 for 3 weeks =12.5.

Hope that makes sense x

You are half a stone less in four weeks! 🥳

How are you getting on with food and water intake?

I think drinking wise its fine. I've always drunk alot of water so no real change there. Im not snacking and mainly only eating breakfast (toast) and lunch (sandwich or wrap). Dinner is either nothing or soup or chicken bites. Definitely not a full dinner as just can't face it.

Overtheatlantic · 12/09/2025 17:48

You’re not eating enough, and what you are eating isn’t protein. Can you manage scrambled eggs with your morning toast? Tuna mayo for lunch and a chicken breast for dinner?

SkinnyOatFlatWhiteForMePlease · 12/09/2025 17:56

@WellfuckmeI think @Overtheatlanticis right, you aren’t eating enough and what you are eating isn’t ideal. I try to hit 1300 kcal, 100g protein and 25g fibre every day.
Protein drinks, clear ones in water are like squash, have been helpful. I have one a day plus lunch, dinner and a small snack. I also include the calories in my coffee. Trying to really retrain myself into good habits for when I eventually way in the future try coming off mounjaro.

NeedSleepNow · 12/09/2025 20:27

@Wellfuckme i also think it sounds like you aren't eating enough, and definitely not enough protein. Could you manage a chicken salad or chicken and some veg for dinner? Eggs would be a good source of protein if you could eat them with breakfast.

Texanchilli · 13/09/2025 01:02

How are people getting enough protein? I am vegetarian and I am getting 40-50g per day, and that is including a protein powder drink.

Lifeisforliving2025 · 13/09/2025 05:24

@Wellfuckme I think you should maybe go back to 2.5 as you seem to have too much suppression if thats all you are eating. I am 15 stone 2 and eat around 1600 cals a day, over 100g protein and 25g fibre. This keeps me in around 500 to 600 deficit daily. Have you checked your TDEE?

It is harder when you don't eat animal protein.
I prioritise protein and aim for 60-70g a day as I'm plant based.

Are you a cook from scratch, beans, nuts and lentils or a meat sub vegetarian.
I ask because I find the beans, pulses, nuts way easier to get in good quality protein.

I use a fab cookbook called the vegan athlete. Its simple, not showy cooking, it gives you a breakdown of protein, carb, fat & calories each serving provides. You could add eggs to recipes for a extra protein boost.
I make the smoothies for my breakfast and lunch.

I like to have meat free days three times a week plus I am dairy free. I use MFP to plan each day in advance as best I can and have made positive swaps like chickpea rice, edamame spaghetti, scrambled egg but 2 eggs and 2 egg whites, Jason’s protein sourdough, clear protein drink daily, adding chickpeas or beans to curries, salads etc. Puy lentils are versatile.

Adding seeds, rye flakes, nuts etc to porridge and oat pancakes. Alpro yogurt, Oatly crème fraiche for creamier dishes, lemon and lime juices as dressings.

Wellfuckme · 13/09/2025 08:40

Thanks everyone. Im going to track what I eat this week more closely. I had some bloods done recently and I need to reduce cholesterol. I also can't eat nuts or seeds. I'll get some protein powder as that seems like it might help.

Hello all, good to see everyone's progress and supportive sharing of advice and tips 🤗I'm now on week 6, I went up to 5mg after a month and planning to stay on 5 as that seems adequate for me (plus felt awful transitioning up from 2.5!)
SW: 102kg
CW: 93.8kg
TW: 90kg
This is the slimmest I have been in years, maybe 8 years? It feels like magic to me as previously I would always get stuck at 95kg and couldn't lose more. When I reach 90kg I will just be overweight and not obese anymore which I am so happy about. One of the biggest things for me was that I was starting to get major problems with my knees and my back nearly always hurt - I was routinely (often daily) taking ibuprofen and paracetamol for aches and pains and haven't felt the need to use these for 2 weeks. I strongly agree with what others are saying about eating right and getting protein in at every meal. In case it's of any interest to anyone, this is what I'm eating:
Breakfast: Fage Total Greek yogurt )% fat 200g (108kcal) plus blueberries, rasps and strawbs (100kcal)
Lunch: Some sort of protein, usually Chicken breast (165kcals) but sometimes boiled egg, cottage cheese or prawns, plus salad (100kcal) and 3 oatcakes (138kcal)
Dinner: Whatever family is having but just eat smaller portion, aiming for protein and veg making up most of the plate and keeping carbs to a quarter of plate.
In total I think I usually have about 1200 calories a day, I will also snack on an apple, satsuma, banana or a handful of nuts sometimes mid morning or late afternoon. I'm drinking 2 litres of water a day and taking the following supplements: B12 complex (contains vitamin C and D), Cod Liver Oil, Zinc and Magnesium, Marine Collagen and Psyllium Husk. I walk about 10km a day with my dogs and try to go swimming once weekly and get in a 5k run each week also.
Good luck everyone on continued journey, you are doing great!!!
ps I noticed a lot of people mentioning sleep difficulties, sometimes in our family we use Melatonin if we need a good night's sleep, you can buy it from this company: https://www.biovea.com/uk. Shouldn't be mixed with alcohol.

I took my fourth jab on Saturday. Nausea and acid definitely better, but I am now feeling some hunger. I also feel I made a mistake weighing myself on Monday morning, I have reached the weight I always stall at.

In the interests of honestly - since that weigh in, yesterday and today I found myself craving and forcing down chocolate that I didn't even really want. I'm still around maintenance cals or possibly slightly over but it made me wonder, am I somehow trying to sabotage myself and not get below this weight. What does that mean, why would I do it?

I'm going to try and ignore scales and just focus on process for the next week while, eating nutritious food that won't make me feel sick.

Interesting question about why we might self-sabotage - I've realised that I used food to treat myself. Would always stop at garage on way home on Friday and buy crisps, sometimes sweets as well. Would also snack in evenings while watching tv. I've been designated driver for my kids various activities for years and tend to not drink alcohol through the week in case needed to drive and also to keep clear head for work. I read somewhere that people who are carers (parents, those looking after older parents, healthcare workers) often overeat as it's the one addiction that doesn't impact your ability to look after others (unlike alcohol or drugs), that made sense to me. Me personally, I was very slim when I was young and used to attract unwanted attention from men, including getting groped on public transport and at gigs, getting heavier I felt more invisible, maybe deep down that suited me in some way too. I've noticed men responding differently to me in the last few weeks and that feels weird. Also, I think I felt it would be vain of me to spend the money on these jabs, like a bit self-indulgent, that might be to do with not prioritising my own self-care, again sometimes common to carers!

Well done to everyone! It’s so inspiring to read about everyone’s losses as someone who’s relatively new to it all.

What is everyone doing about alcohol? I normally drink 2-2.5 bottles of wine a week 🥴 but I’ve cut down since starting MJ. I was hoping I wouldn’t want to drink at all but that hasn’t happened yet!

Hello, I used to have 2-3 drinks just on Fri and Saturday nights, usually a GT and a glass of white wine/cava. However finding that feel grim next day if drink that amount now, so am tending to just have one drink now, maybe 2 but never 3. Had a night out with friends recently and had 4 glasses of wine, next day complete write-off, felt like death. I figured this must be the famous Mountjaro hangover 😂As others have said, reduction probably more realistic than cutting out completely, I feel it's important to still have a few little treats now and then.

W5D1 lost 1.4kg this week and for the first time my BMI is just under 30 so I’m no longer ‘obese’ but now just ‘overweight’
SW 87kg
CW 82.2kg
GW 65-70kg

Brilliant result, well done!!!! What a great feeling that must be

I'm close to the end of week 7 now and haven't lost anything for 2 weeks now. I lost a stone in the first 4 weeks, 2 pounds the following week and nothing since despite eating very sensibly and upping my water intake this week. I will definitely be moving up to 5mg for my next pen.

Edited

That feels demoralising, doesn't it? I plateaued as well, but lost weight again once moved up to 5mg. I've read lots of people plateau for a week or two, before starting to lose again. Keep going you are doing great 💪

Thanks. Yes it feels demoralising to have plateaued and I did eat a chocolate biscuit at work yesterday and an ice cream at home last night when I was feeling quite disappointed. I don't want to keep comfort eating though as that was always one of my problems, so I am being sensible today as I know I need to keep at this and will hopefully start loosing again soon.

I'm thinking I should now move up to 5mg if my weight loss has stalled for a few weeks. I did my 8th jab last night so need to order my next pen asap as I only have the golden dose left in current pen now for next week.

Those who have already moved up to 5mg did you get a lot more in the way of side effects?

Rorpethy · 13/09/2025 16:10

Has anyone else had a reaction at the injection site?

I've just done jab number 6 this morning and it's now red and itchy, like a bug bite. Last week the same thing happened but it wasn't until the next day it started itching so I didn't make the connection straight away. Jabs 1-4 were absolutely fine! And the 5 I did last year were fine too.

HighlandCauliflower · 13/09/2025 17:05

W5, D1 Used my golden dose yesterday evening, I bought some insulin needles to extract it. All good.
Woke up feeling really nauseous at 4am, it's subsided now.

I was hoping to drop below 14 stone this week, I'm bang on 14 was a little disappointed initially because I'd told myself this week, this week but now on reflection its fine, I dropped below 90kg and unless I have a horrendous week this week, I'll drop below 14 stone next week

SW 14 st 13½lbs
CW 14 st
GW 10 st 7 lbs - 11 st 7 lbs

13 ½ lbs in 4 weeks

I did on my first jab when I managed to dribble some of the jab fluid over my skin then wiped it off - where I wiped went really red and itchy for a good few hours.

Some has leaked out the last 2 times so that probably explains it, thank you!
