Anybody just starting Wegovy?

blondebombsite13 · 27/08/2025 19:45

Hi all, been reading some threads with interest but wondering if there’s anybody on Wegovy that would like to share progress? Or any stories / tips etc from people further along.

About me, I am 44 and just not losing the excess weight like I used to and so have finally taken the plunge and started on Wegovy.

I guess I chose Wegovy due to the proposed price increases of Mounjaro, also, I thought Wegovy might be a bit more slow and steady as I only want to lose a few stone. Although I could be wrong about that, but we’ll see.

I have ordered through Juniper and they sent me a set of scales which pair to the app so I don’t need to manually record my weight, it does it for me.

I’m not sure how accurate the scales are though so I will also probably keep an eye on my own scales.

I had thought my starting weight was 12 stone 7 but I weighed on Juniper scales just now and it says 12 stone 10. I think for the purposes of tracking and discussion here I’ll just use 12 stone 10.

This is almost the biggest I have ever been. Following the birth of my third child I was 13 stone and I managed to get down to 11 and a half, but despite my efforts, I’m now back up at 12 stone 10.

I took first jab this evening, seemed straightforward. Don’t feel any different yet. I could eat, but not starving, going to try not to have anything this evening although I think that will probably require sheer will power as probably too soon for the jab to have any effect.

So,
Starting weight: 12 stone 10
Current weight: 12 stone 10
Waist: 30.5 inches
Target weight: 10 stone 9

@blondebombsite13 & everyone !
I’ve not posted for some time as I’m a very slow loser and not much to report really .But I wanted to share a brilliant article I read in The times yesterday - It’s the best thing I’ve read about weight loss drugs . Im not tech savvy and will try to share the link but in case I Can't you could always google ..It’s an article called ‘The weight loss doctors injection guide: What you need to know .’ Author is an NHS doctor and GLP 1 Specialist .Dr Max Pemberton.
There was great advice on how quickly ( or slowly) to titrate your doses and when / how to maintain once you reach your weight loss goals .
Basically I am guilty of thinking I’m losing too slowly ,but slow is good ! ( which I kind of knew but hearing from a specialist is good) Also the advice on how to maintain. Basically you need to stay on maintenance dose for at least a year he says so that your body gets used to its new ‘set weight ‘ .
He says that it should take 12-18 months to get to your goal , and then at least another 12 months to stay on maintenance doses before stopping altogether .
Obviously expensive ,but in the long run cheaper than yo - yoing and needing to go back on the meds .
Sorry I tried with the link to the article but couldn’t do it !

I don’t have charts to attach , but am 22lbs down since staring in Oct 25 at 12 st 10 lbs .
CW . 11 st 2
goal : around 10 st .

Im on 1 mg Wegovy . Doc recommends not increasing your dose if you are losing . Weigh once weekly only , and only increase up if you plateau for at least 3-4 weeks .

I’m losing now on average 3 lbs per month which I think is slow , but if it continues in this vein I will reach my goal in about another 5 months , which is what this article recommends. I felt very reassured.
Good luck all & have a great weekend.

@Twodogsisbetterthanone great advice on maintaining in the article I just posted about .

Thanks, I will have a google and find it!

@blondebombsite13 I get them from Pharmacy2u, I’ve never really looked into the support side of things as haven’t needed to, it’s been so trouble-free! I will take a look.

SW 12st 9.9lb
CW 11st 8.3lb
TW. 11 stone

I started just before new year and have lost just over 15lb. I've just had a 10 day break as I went up to 0.5 and felt so ill. It really hit me hard, constant nausea, no appetite, terrible cramping pains and wind. After my third 0.5mg I hoped I would feel ok but the night after the 3rd jab I was so ill all through the night. The next day I squirted the 4th dose down the sink. No way I was carrying on feeling so ill. I felt like a zombie.

Im now back on 0.25 and feel much more myself. Feel fuller much quicker and still off alcohol. I'm feeling hunger a bit more but I'm not willing to go up a dose at all. If I feel hungry I drink some water.

I have another 8lb to lose and I'm undecided whether this is my last pen (I have 3 doses left) or whether to order just one more.

If you're losing on your current dose and your side affects are manageable then stay on that dose.

I've had to buy some new jeans as the pair I bought in December are just too loose. I still feel like I could lose another stone but going down to 10 stone just seems so ridiculous. Not been that weight for 30 years.

blondebombsite13 · 28/02/2026 16:45

@BG2015starting just before new year is such a short time. You’ve done very well in such a short space of time.

see how you get on over next few weeks.

@blondebombsite13 Chatgtp suggests I'm a super responder to WG 😂 as I've lost a decent amount of weight and had a quite violent reaction to going up a dose.

I don't know how true this is though. I've lost weight off my back and my tummy too. I've had to move my bra fastening to the third one. You don't realise where you're losing it from.

smallsilvercloud · 01/03/2026 11:23

First weigh in, SW was 14st 13 and today 14st 2 a 11lb loss 😂 I had a serious upset stomach yesterday so suspect most of it lost then, but impressed I’m only on the starting dose and haven’t touched crisps or chocolate all week, something I can’t normally go without for a day, (apart from coco shreddies) but have been eating healthy dinners such as salmon and salad and plenty of fruit.

pelagra · 07/03/2026 10:56

Just copying my post over here from Feb 2026 starters, in the hope of sharing experience.

As some of you are ahead of me - did anyone have no effects from the first pen of .25g, but go on to see progress?

"Looking at Dose Diary, I'm at peak concentration for Week4, but I'm still not experiencing any real effects. I might be very slightly less inclined to snack, and my bowels have slowed down a little, but both could be my normal variations.
I'm so puzzled, as I've been told by more than one doctor that I'm sensitive to most medications, so I expected to have lots of side effects and some benefit.
I have lost a bit of weight, by careful meal planning, but I feel quite disheartened when so many of you are having good progress on the lowest dose. I lost more in the ten days before my first jab than I have since.
I bought my first two pens as a package deal, so I will continue, but it seems a very expensive way to achieve very little."

Anybody just starting Wegovy?
blondebombsite13 · 07/03/2026 11:30

@pelagraso you only started in February? It’s not instant, you just need to be patient.

For a lot of people 0.25 doesn’t do anything, it just gets their body used to the medication in preparation for higher dose.

I felt I did see some progress from 0.25 before moving onto 0.5, but remember weight fluctuates all the time anyway. So there’s really no way of knowing if it was down to the Wegovy or not, how much was hormonal, or even placebo effect (excitement at having started the meds).

The drug is amazing. I’ve lost 2 stone and could
never have done it without it.

But I think the more people hear people saying it’s amazing, the higher their expectations get. To often unrealistic levels. You need to manage your expectations. You’re paying a lot of money for the meds, so just try and give them the chance to work.

I’m further down the line from you, I’ve lost 2 stone and I’m so happy with that. But I am now possibly falling into a similar trap to you - I need/want to lose another half stone. But I’m getting complacent and impatient, and I want it to just fall off. But it’s not happening. I need to adjust my my expectations and I need to put the effort in. Which I admit, I’m not.

This is my latest chart.

i am on 0.5 Wegovy. Chart has been really quite static for quite a while now. But I don’t want to go up a dose. I know it’s not the right thing to do. Im
not eating enough of the right foods right now and im not exercising enough. Suppressing my appetite further by going up a dose is not the right thing to do. I just need to make better decisions.

Easier said than done though, as we all know!

I do find it frustrating each morning when I see the scales not moving, or going up a bit, but I just need to manage my expectations and start trying a bit harder.

Trust the process, and see how you get on. It’s very early days.

5lb weight loss this week, it’s going well, I’m surprised at how effective it’s been on 0.25 and it’s definitely the medication not me, as I’d been trying for years and willpower alone wouldn’t work, just hope i don’t put it back on when i get to my goal of 10st 7 so i have just over 3 stone to lose.

MargotB · 08/03/2026 15:59

I'm new to the thread, and to the WLI section of MN.

I've just received my first order of Wegovy and I feel a mixture of fear and excitement. Fear is mainly around the possible side effects, as I seem to be quite sensitive to side effects to some medication, and excitement about losing weight and regaining some self confidence.

Reading this thread has been really useful, particularly about not rushing to increase the dose and accepting that it's not a race to lose weight!

I have a few days off work and I'm thinking of Tuesday as my start day. Tomorrow is not really feasible as I have a few things to do and I'd rather start on a day where I have no plans at all.

Well done to everyone so far on their weight loss journey and thank you OP for starting the thread.

Mummatash · 08/03/2026 16:31

@smallsilvercloud ,that is an amazing start ! Well done to you ,you must be so pleased 16 lbs in 2 weeks !
@MargotB , welcome to the thread and lots of luck for your start on Tuesday.
Ive been on the thread since October, and its a great place to share info & support each other .
My weight loss has started to slow down a bit now ( I’ve never put any on since starting , but lose between 0.5 - 1lb per week now) . I’m going on an all inclusive holiday tomorrow for 4 days ! I’ve still taken my usual jab today - it will be interesting to see what happens at next weeks weigh in !
Have a good week everyone

BG2015 · 08/03/2026 16:32

I've been doing WG since the 1st Jan and have lost 1 stone 2lb. I have 8lb left to lose but not sure if I'm going to order again.

I find the day after I take the injection is when I feel the effects. So did my jab Friday afternoon and felt 'off' yesterday (Sat).

I did 4 weeks at 0.25 with very mild side effects that were tolerated fine ( reduced appetite, mild nausea, heartburn and very slow bowel) then moved up to 0.5 and just felt dreadful. Did 3 injections then requested to take back to 0.25. I gave myself a 10 day break just to feel some normality.

Ive now done 2 0.25 and have 2 injections left.

I've dropped a dress size and feel so much better. My blood pressure is down and I've just dipped into a healthy BMI but I've always said that I hate how it makes me feel.

Im going to see how my losses go over the next couple of weeks and decide.

BG2015 · 14/03/2026 10:23

I've lost a further 1.3lb this week which goes to show you really don't need to move up the doses if you're steadily losing.

Ive got 6.7lb to lose and I have 1 injection left. My DP thinks I should not order another injection and just try to get down to my goal weight on my own. I am tempted because I don't like paying out for the jabs. I've not ever paid full price as I shared my referral code wherever I could which does make me feel a bit better.

Going to delay the delivery for a week and see what my next loss is.

Hows everyone else doing?

smallsilvercloud · 15/03/2026 10:20

Well done @BG2015not far of your goal now then.
A 3lb loss this week, I’m struggling to eat much at all, and eat once a day and only because I should, a busy new job is also distracting away from eating.

Well done @BG2015

My loss has very much stalled, but I’m possibly ok with that.

The 2 stone I have lost has made a huge difference.

Yes, I would like to lose another half a stone, but “another half a stone” is just a number on a scale really. I guess what I really mean is that I would like to have a little bit less fat and a little bit more muscle, and I don’t think that’s going to be achieved by eating less. I feel i need to be healthier overall and that means more strength training and building muscle. Thats not the type of thing i enjoy but I think i just need to try and incorporate it into my life.

Also at this stage of my life i feel like losing any more weight from my face is not going to be good.

So I wont be going up a dose (currently on 0.5) but im also not ready to stop taking them.

I have pretty much no side effects so dont feel under any pressure to give up, although obviously i dont want to be on it long term.

so i will see how i go over the next month or so. But I really cant express how life changing this 2 stone loss has been for me. I was at a wedding last weekend and it was so nice not to cringe at every single photo i was in.

Your thread is inspiring OP. Well done on your loss! Just waiting on mine to come. Does wegovy reduce chocolate cravings?

BG2015 · 16/03/2026 13:40

It reduced cravings for everything!

Even now I have a gin on a Saturday night, make myself a second and end up giving it to DP, just can’t stomach it

For sure! Ive had 2 squares of chocolate since starting almost 10 weeks ago. Both were to taste new bars i had bought for the family, and both times I tasted the choc, appreciated it's nice flavour and left it at that, just the 1 square. Unheard of for me!

Stickytoffeetartt · 17/03/2026 05:18

That's great , thank you both. I reckon I would be 2nstone lighter if it wasn't for all the chocolate I eat!

Yes, it reduces cravings for everything.

It does wear off though.

I didn’t feel much on 0.25. When I moved up to 0.5 I really wasn’t eating much. Just didnt fancy it. I bought some protein powder and would mix it up with milk on evenings when I didnt want any dinner.

Apart from one pen of 1mg, I have stayed on 0.5 and I am eating more or less normally now. Perhaps the quantities are a bit less, and perhaps the cravings for junk are a bit less…but I do have an appetite.

But I’m not losing any further weight. I have plateaued for quite a while now.

But I think I am going to focus on maintaining this weight and focusing on fitness rather than going up a dose.

And I don’t want to stop taking it in case the cravings come whooshing back.

Anybody just starting Wegovy?

So glad I found this thread.

I am 44. 4 children. Size 14. Currently 11 stone 9lbs and have been trying for a year to get back to 11 stone. Tried everything and really didn't want to resort to WLI (mostly because my OH is dead against it) but now I have. Just order Wegovi. I've never taken anything like this before so I'm a bit anxious of side effects. I expect it to arrive on Monday. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I love walking and go out most nights for 30 mins with a weighted vest on. Hate the gym!

blondebombsite13 · 21/03/2026 10:33

Hi @Mumstheword1983,

Doesbt sound like you have much to lose. But I know what it’s like when it just won’t shift.

i was about a stone heavier than you, I was just under 13 stone.

I started Wegovy last September and have lost 2 stone, now hovering around 10 stone 7 but don’t seem to be losing any more.

I have stayed on a relatively low dose though (0.5ml) and I don’t particularly want to increase. So my focus is now on maintaining and toning up. If I lose a bit more, great, but it’s just a number on a scale really, it’s arbitrary.

I feel and look so much better and that’s the main thing. I can buy new clothes and I look ok in photos.

I realised the other day that there are barely any photos of me from the past 12 or so years and that made me so sad. And I was turning down invitations to things because I had no clothes and just felt dreadful.

So for me, it really has been life changing, and I suspect that my body has just reached a natural plateau. I do still have some visible fat around my tummy and hips but I think this will only be resolved with exercise.

anyway, if you filter by my posts you’ll be able to see my progress and charts.

Good luck!

I've just had my first dose this morning, 0.25. t's early days yet but I will be interested to see what happens.

BG2015 · 21/03/2026 10:50

I've only lost 0.2 this week but I'm slightly constipated. I also haven't been mindful of my food intake this week so that now changes. I've lost 17.3lb since 1st Jan and have 6lb to lose. I have one injection left and then I'm cancelling.
