Anybody just starting Wegovy?

Hi all, been reading some threads with interest but wondering if there’s anybody on Wegovy that would like to share progress? Or any stories / tips etc from people further along.

About me, I am 44 and just not losing the excess weight like I used to and so have finally taken the plunge and started on Wegovy.

I guess I chose Wegovy due to the proposed price increases of Mounjaro, also, I thought Wegovy might be a bit more slow and steady as I only want to lose a few stone. Although I could be wrong about that, but we’ll see.

I have ordered through Juniper and they sent me a set of scales which pair to the app so I don’t need to manually record my weight, it does it for me.

I’m not sure how accurate the scales are though so I will also probably keep an eye on my own scales.

I had thought my starting weight was 12 stone 7 but I weighed on Juniper scales just now and it says 12 stone 10. I think for the purposes of tracking and discussion here I’ll just use 12 stone 10.

This is almost the biggest I have ever been. Following the birth of my third child I was 13 stone and I managed to get down to 11 and a half, but despite my efforts, I’m now back up at 12 stone 10.

I took first jab this evening, seemed straightforward. Don’t feel any different yet. I could eat, but not starving, going to try not to have anything this evening although I think that will probably require sheer will power as probably too soon for the jab to have any effect.

So,
Starting weight: 12 stone 10
Current weight: 12 stone 10
Waist: 30.5 inches
Target weight: 10 stone 9

@SerafinasGooseits not an actual thigh gap!

(which I wouldn’t even want, anyway)

I’m always going to be on the “curvy” side, which is fine by me. I’m never going to be stick thin.

Standing up, feet and knees together, my thighs absolutely touch, all the way up, which is fine and normal and natural.

It’s just that in that position in the bath I’ve noticed that where they used to touch all the way down from top of thigh to knee, there is now a bit, halfway between crotch (sorry) and knee where there is a small gap.

But it’s not a good gap, it’s just the way the fat now falls now that there is less of it.

If I can tone my thighs up a bit maybe it’ll look better, but either way I’m not particularly bothered about it.

Ah, just wishful thinking on my part @blondebombsite13! I got so tired of the summer 'chub rub'.

I'm losing my muscle tone, that is for sure. I do at least half an hour on an exercise bike every day, and after a 2st loss I still have an arse that's as flat as a pancake.

I'm mildly amused by this. This is not a problem I thought I'd ever have to contend with!

Morning all. Im still 11.9 this morning but I’d gone up a lb in the week so I am hoping that doesn’t happen again. I keep reminding myself I’m ridiculous to be disheartened by a single pound but here we are! I considered whether to go up a dose when I had to re order last week but have decided to stay on 0.5. I have to be able to maintain so I’m going to stick with this for now! Hope everyone is feeling good!

blondebombsite13 · 11/01/2026 09:54

Morning @MincedMalbecI’m the same. Going up a single pound upsets me as well, although I know it’s ridiculous.

I think it’s important to remember to keep a sense of detachment from it as it can all get a bit all consuming otherwise.

In the past, before I used Wegovy, if my weight went up by a few pounds, my mood would come crashing down and….i would turn to food. I would be so upset that my attempts to lose weight weren’t working and I would just start emotionally eating. And then the weight really would go on.

Obviously on Wegovy, yes, I have those days where the scales go up, but it does then come off again. So I’m hoping that when I have come off the Wegovy, I will remember that, and won’t get disheartened and start overeating.

As regards your dose, yes, I would say stay on 0.5 if it’s working for you, which it seems to be.

I think I did 4 pens of 0.5 then went onto 1mg.

I have just had one pen of 1mg, which finished on Tuesday. I have a 0.5 pen in the fridge ready to start and the next one on order is 0.5mg.

I haven’t spoken to the coach at juniper yet about weaning off. Maybe next month. I’m nervous.

im almost at goal weight which is 10 stone 6 (I think I originally set goal weight at 10 stone 8 but reduced it by a couple of pounds).

But I’m still bigger than I suppose I should be. But I think losing much more would just be very unsustainable.

I was out for a girls lunch yesterday. I wore some clothes that I haven’t worn before - bought online and were too small. They fitted and I felt really good. Until I saw myself in a photo somebody had taken Blush it was just half of me, or even less, at the side of the photo. I had genuinely felt really slim Grin but the photo just shows chubby thighs, tummy, boobs and face bulging into the side of the photo.

Maybe just an unflattering pic though. It does make me cringe how I must have looked at 2 stone heavier though, so I’m very grateful not to be at that weight anymore!

sod the photo @blondebombsite13 honestly forget it!! I have had some hideous photos of me taken, thin and fat. I’ve decided that photos just don’t show a real person at all. You wore something nice and you felt good and you are at a much healthier weight. That’s all that matters!

blondebombsite13 · 11/01/2026 10:27

Yes, you’re right @MincedMalbec, I’m not going to dwell on it.

Just about to write a shopping list for the week and feeling motivated to get some really nice, healthy stuff Smile

Yesterday’s jab: tried to do that little test to make sure there was no blockage in the top of the first pen. Sprayed half the jab at my mum. Got her in the specs! Don’t think she’ll lose weight from it but I’ll let you know if her glasses appear smaller next week!

blondebombsite13 · 12/01/2026 19:52

@MincedMalbec”got her in the specs” Grin

Ive done similar before and think I only managed to get a half dose….it didn’t make any difference, it was still a good week 👍🏻

@WhyDidIStayUpLateAgain
My BMI was only 27 but I have high blood pressure and asthma and with Juniper I had to send photos in. They also wanted photos /proof of the medication I’m on.

I didn’t think I’d qualify but they agreed it. I’ve lost 6.8lb in 2 weeks.

Early 2025 I started calorie counting and swimming 3 times a week and it took me 5 months to lose 10lb, at 56 my weight loss was painfully slow.

You won’t know unless you try!

BG2015 · 16/01/2026 08:19

Another 3.1lb loss so that’s 6.8lb in 2 weeks - I’m amazed.

blondebombsite13 · 16/01/2026 09:25

Well done @BG2015

im still amazed at what I’ve lost. I still cant quite believe it.

So my weight loss has been pretty steady and consistent. I’ve lost 2 stone since I started at beginning of September.

But it’s only been this week that people have started to notice.

and a couple of them were people I met outside so wearing my big coat, so it’s amazing to think it’s noticeable even through that.

im not sure if maybe you can see it in my face - one person did say my face looked thinner (I’m hoping I haven’t aged and look haggard and drawn without the extra padding!) or if it’s because maybe I hadn’t seen these people for a few weeks over Christmas that they started to see a difference.

either way, I’m so happy. I feel like my old self again.

I am still weighing myself every day and hoping to go down a little bit more….but I think that’s just for the feeing of achievement. Realistically, I’m not sure I want to lose much more. It just wouldn’t be natural, realistic or sustainable for me.

so really I’m now looking at maintaining. I did one pen at 1mg and have now moved back down to 0.5 this week so will see how that goes.

I will maybe speak to th juniper coach and see what they say, not sure.

blondebombsite13 · 17/01/2026 10:42

Morning all,

10 stone 6.4 this morning so very close to goal weight!

Need to make a conscious effort to plan, buy and cook good food instead of just relying on the appetite suppression.

I feel I have got lazy and complacent as this whole journey really has been fairly “easy” for me. It’s easy to lose sight of how impossible this weight loss was without the jab and that I can’t just expect it to happen with no effort from me, because that will result in the weight just going back on, also lost muscle etc.

The one side effect I’ve had throughout this has been constipation, and I think I’ve found something that make a real difference. It’s so small that it’s probably obvious and maybe lots of people already do it - but I have a hot water with lemon first thing every morning (then my coffee) plus one with every meal, to aid digestion and soften all the food up.

it’s made a really big difference and I’m now going to the loo a couple of times a day as opposed to once every two days.

However, one big worry is that I think I have a prolapse Sad I have had 3 vaginal births (one with forceps) but they were quite a few years ago. I think it’s probably a combination of that plus the constipation, although I can’t blame the Wegovy for that, I did also have bouts of constipation before.

I feel ok, I’m not in any discomfort, I don’t feel like I’m sitting on a ball or like anything is going to fall out, which I’ve read can be symptoms. Basically I had a strange feeling in urethra last week, like I was struggling to start to pee. So I had a look in the mirror, which revealed to me that actually I don’t know where my urethra is Blush but also that when I bear down something comes bulging down towards the entrance.

Sorry, TMI, I know.

anyway, I felt it was maybe a UTI so I got antibiotics from pharmacy and the peeing issue has cleared up. The thing is still there though. I’ve started doing kegals and I’ve sorted out the constipation (touch wood) so I’ll see how it goes this week but I suspect I’ll be needing to call the doctor.

Anyway, happy weekend all!

I am going to a wedding today and what a strange feeling it is to be looking forward to it and not having a part of my brain just constantly focusing on how fat I am and how I have to wear the only thing that will fit me as opposed to choosing something that I actually like. It’s just a freeing feeling.

Anybody just starting Wegovy?
OP posts:
blondebombsite13 · 17/01/2026 10:48

Edited to add: weddings also used to stress me because of the quite regimented schedule and not being able to access any food other than the wedding meal at a specific time, so I would spend a lot of day quite hungry.

That’s one of the biggest changes for me on Wegovy. Previously, out with thr kids or out of a shopping trip, I would constantly need to find somewhere to get something to eat. Sometimes it would be expensive convenience food (motorway services etc) that also wasn’t very nice but I just couldn’t wait. That has reduced massively and it makes such a big difference.

Hi, I haven’t started yet but I’m at least 4 stone overweight and I have to do something. For wegovy, do you mind me picking your brains and asking the best provider? Everything online is hard sell and I’m a bit dazzled. Thank you :)

blondebombsite13 · 17/01/2026 11:32

Hi @Newstartplease24i don’t know much about other providers but I’m with Juniper and no complaints.

I’ll DM you x

Newstartplease24 · 17/01/2026 12:22

thanks :)
can I ask if anyone has struggled with side effects?
what about hair loss? My hair is thinning so much I can’t afford any more

blondebombsite13 · 17/01/2026 12:29

I haven’t noticed any hair loss, but I shed a lot of hair anyway.

When I first started, I would feel very tired after I did the jab. I initially jabbed in the morning so I the changed it to evening so I was going to bed anyway, but the side effect seemed to wear off anyway.

The only real side effect I’ve had has been the constipation, which I hope I have now got to grips with.

BG2015 · 17/01/2026 12:41

@blondebombsite13your weight loss has been great! Well done on your loss this week and enjoy your wedding.

@Newstartplease24Ive done 3 injections so far and I've had a few mild side effects which are feeling cold (directly after the jab) very mild nausea (a bit like a morning sickness feeling) reflux and mild constipation fixed with drinking plenty of water, dried apricots and kiwi fruit.

I have extremely thick, coarse hair so any hair loss wouldn't be noticeable for me. I'm with Juniper too who I think are on the expensive side compared to others but offer a bit of extra support through their app and private Facebook group.

Newstartplease24 · 17/01/2026 12:59

Thanks! Do you think the support is worth it?

BG2015 · 17/01/2026 13:31

In all honesty, probably not. I've managed to get my first injections at £75 and then £89 for the second one as I used a referral code, then someone used my referral code. This is an acceptable cost. My third injection will cost me £169 I think which is a lot of money. I do believe you can get it cheaper with other providers.

blondebombsite13 · 17/01/2026 14:13

@Newstartplease24im also not sure if the support is worth it. I haven’t used it. But I might soon as I will be thinking about coming off the injections.

I do find the app useful though, being able to track my weight electronically using the scales they sent.

i also like June, the AI assistant. I’ve found out that you can ask her anything, not just weight loss related stuff. I don’t have chapgpt or anything so this is very useful! Grin

i also like the recipes on the app.

I haven’t looked at other providers so I’m not sure what the price difference is.

I am happy to stay with juniper for now for a few reasons:

  1. I am almost at goal weight so bmi no longer high and I don’t want to run the risk of another provider rejecting me

  2. I think prices if all weight loss injections will come down a lot in the near future as competition rises (ie more manufacturers) so I don’t see the cost being this high forever

  3. I like the app etc, as above

  4. convenience. I don’t have time for the hassle of switching constantly to get the best price. Places will always have introductory offers but they will then go back to full price.

  5. Mounjaro would be prohibitively expensive, but the cost of Wegovy, when offset against takeaways and snacks that I am no longer buying, is ok. So I don’t tend to tbink about the cost much.

@Newstartplease24 Im with Chequp and have no issues with them .Deliveries always quick … Have been with them since starting 3 months ago and think they are reasonably priced .£109 first dose 0.25 mg , £129 0.5 mg & now on 1 mg which is £149. They provide a support tracking app which is basically weight watchers without the points ( I’ve found it useful to track calories and the nutrient content of my food because I want to ensure I’m getting enough protein ) . They also recommend using their health coaches ,but I’ve not accessed that service .
As for side effects …. Some nausea and gastrointestinal reflux which was not nice but since using an antacid and omeprazole from my GP has been much better. I’ve not had any hair thinning or loss ( and I’m quite the age for it at 62 😀).

I think a lot of people move pharmacies all the time to get reduced introductory offers ,but I can’t be arsed with the hassle & have been happy with Chequp which was recommended by my sister & is very well reviewed . There is a comparison website for pricing somewhere amoungst these pages full of introductory offers ,but once you’ve had the offer , it seems to be more pricey I think .

I can send a referral code for a £50 credit if you choose chequp ,but would have to provide your email to them so DM me if you want this …
Good luck …

Mummatash · 17/01/2026 14:33

Forgot to say @blondebombsite13 , well done …your weight loss results are fantastic….
I love your updates as we’ve both noted we are similar height and starting weight … mine still coming off really slowly but at least it’s coming off ! Enjoy your wedding …

Newstartplease24 · 17/01/2026 19:09

Thanks everyone. I’m going to go for it, I’m heavier than I thought now I’ve bought a battery and weighed myself 😭 oh well go to start somewhere
