Anybody just starting Wegovy?

blondebombsite13 · 27/08/2025 19:45

Hi all, been reading some threads with interest but wondering if there’s anybody on Wegovy that would like to share progress? Or any stories / tips etc from people further along.

About me, I am 44 and just not losing the excess weight like I used to and so have finally taken the plunge and started on Wegovy.

I guess I chose Wegovy due to the proposed price increases of Mounjaro, also, I thought Wegovy might be a bit more slow and steady as I only want to lose a few stone. Although I could be wrong about that, but we’ll see.

I have ordered through Juniper and they sent me a set of scales which pair to the app so I don’t need to manually record my weight, it does it for me.

I’m not sure how accurate the scales are though so I will also probably keep an eye on my own scales.

I had thought my starting weight was 12 stone 7 but I weighed on Juniper scales just now and it says 12 stone 10. I think for the purposes of tracking and discussion here I’ll just use 12 stone 10.

This is almost the biggest I have ever been. Following the birth of my third child I was 13 stone and I managed to get down to 11 and a half, but despite my efforts, I’m now back up at 12 stone 10.

I took first jab this evening, seemed straightforward. Don’t feel any different yet. I could eat, but not starving, going to try not to have anything this evening although I think that will probably require sheer will power as probably too soon for the jab to have any effect.

So,
Starting weight: 12 stone 10
Current weight: 12 stone 10
Waist: 30.5 inches
Target weight: 10 stone 9

thanks!
I ordered from boots and they’ve approved me so I’m waiting for the text to say I can pick it up. How bit will it be? I don’t want my kids or partner to know so now I’m worried about fridge logistics. My partner doesnt live with me but when he’s here he cooks a lot and has free rein over fridge and cupboards.

now I’m thinking over all the weight related stresses and humiliations I’m dying to say goodbye to. A couple of summers ago, I wanted to take my kids kayaking, renting the craft from near where we’d be on holiday. I phoned the place in advance to ask if the 85kg limit was a hard limit as I was afraid “my husband” (I have no husband) “might” exceed it (I was 90kg then - nearer 96 now). They said firmly that it was a hard limit and if they had doubts they would have to weigh my non existent husband on site. They kindly suggested a two person craft with a 220 kg limit. For me and my imaginary husband. A part of me wondered if they knew it was me.

I had about 4 weeks to go and I seriously intended to crash diet off 5kg. Of course I didn’t make it. We hired the big one and I out the three of us on it, me and my kids.

anyway that’s tip of the iceberg (the fatberg) of worries and embarrassments over the years. Every few years I used to have a mindset shift and lose a lot of weight, always when single and feeling free and unencumbered. Im in a fairly stressy relationship right now and don’t have much headspace from a tricky job either so the mindset shift isn’t going to come from within this time. But I know how it feels when everything fits and you like yourself for once and I want it.

Newstartplease24 · 18/01/2026 14:54

How long / big is the pen itself? Would they fit in a tiny cosmetic fridge? I could find somewhere to hide that

SilenceInside · 18/01/2026 15:01

@Newstartplease24 the pen itself is about the size of a Sharpie felt tip pen but a bit longer. You could fit in easily inside a box the size of a tomato puree tube box. Which is what some people do, with it wrapped in tin foil before putting inside the box.

blondebombsite13 · 18/01/2026 18:24

@Newstartplease24it is very small, as pp said.

But it’s your body, your house and your choice. You shouldn’t have to hide it.

I would find it easier to either say I was using it, or just leave the box in the fridge and answer if I was asked about it.

I wouldn’t like having to explain why I was hiding it if somebody happened to find it.

You will also need to store a sharps bin somewhere (out of reach of young kids).

Good luck Smile

Yeah it would be easier just to admit to and I will eventually especially if we go on holiday or something. But I’m not ready and I don’t like scrutiny. I’m general I lose weight a lot better in private. Also my partner thinks he knows everything about health and nutrition and eilhave a lot to say. He doesn’t - he has no idea how little some women, including me, need to eat to be slim - he thinks it’s all about the types of food you eat and you can work it all off in hours of exercise. Hes just very very different but doesnt understand that menopausal women need to be careful in a different way. And hes very dogmatic

Newstartplease24 · 19/01/2026 07:55

I could argue all this out but I refuse to have arguments about my own body. I’d rather quietly do it my own way

Newstartplease24 · 19/01/2026 07:57

I need to educate him as much as myswlf ablut what eating looks like for me for the long term. I’ve done it before. I just need a bit of help to do it this time. My goal is to lose a few stone and build good habits on the injections and then I hope get off them

blondebombsite13 · 22/01/2026 09:04

Hi all,

just a check in from me.

im 10 stone 8.1 this morning, so going back up.

As a reminder:

Starting weight end August 2025: 12 stone 10
target weight: 10 stone 9

I didn’t actually think I would ever get to target weight of 10.9, so as I got closer I lowered it to. 10.6.

This is my dosage schedule, which isn’t based on anything other than my own instinct / how I felt:

0.25
0.5
0.5
0.5
0.5
1.0
0.5 (halfway through)

In hindsight, I think I jumped the gun going up to 1mg. I think I should have been more patient on 0.5. Becuase I feel that now, hai g reduced back down to 0.5, Im struggling a bit.

Maybe it’s just been a bad few days, but I was ravenous yesterday and ashamed to say I ate more than I should have, and not good stuff.

i ate before bed (cereal) which I had completely stopped, and I got up at 3am and raided the fridge for a slice of quiche Blush

I am at the ovulation point in my cycle…maybe that accounts for it? A little bit?

Anyway, yes, weight has gone up by a few lbs so I need to be very careful. It’s very easy to see just how easily I could slip back to 11 stone and it’s a slippery slope from there.

Either way, I think it’s looking likely that I will be on this for longer than I had hoped. I can deal with the money side of it, it’s partially offset the takeaways I’m not buying, and it’s worth it to me. But I worry about taking a fairly new medication long term. I don’t want to risk my health.

Anyway, that’s where I am.

how is everybody else getting on?

Edit: Unable to edit my post above, but looks like I only used 3 pens of 0.5 in a row, not 4 as I’ve written below.

So dosage was:

0.25
0.5
0.5
0.5
1.0
0.5 (halfway through)

Hello - I've been lurking and am currently on another couple of threads, I hope you don't mind me popping in.

I'm currently on week 3 of Wegovy, and I'm currently wondering whether to do another month on 0.25 rather than going up to 0.5. I felt really grotty for two days after my first dose - super nauseous (and was actually sick once), so I'm a bit nervous about the same thing happening again! A bit TMI but my digestive system is also a lot slower than it was pre-jabs, which I don't love.

Can I ask you how you've found in terms of moving from 0.25 to 0.5 in terms of a) symptoms - especially nausea and constipation, and b) suppression?

I'll record my week three weight on Sunday morning (so I might wait until then to make a final decision) but so far I lost 2.25kg in week one, 0.95kg in week two, and so far this week I've lost 0.7kg. So everything is going in the right direction.

Thanks so much!

blondebombsite13 · 23/01/2026 08:34

Hi @YellowStockings

So everybody is different, there seems to also be wide differences in how people react to 0.25, with some people seeing no effects at all while it works for other people.

I was just a bit tired after injecting 0.25.

I did one pen and then moved straight onto 0.5, but then I stayed on 0.5 for 3 pens.

I didn’t even really consider staying on 0.25 for longer though and I’m not sure why. I think because a lot of people said it was just to get you used to the medicine and it wouldn’t actually do anything in terms of weight loss. But I did have decent results with it.

If you’re struggling with side effects I think it’d be fine go stay on 0.25 for a bit longer.

I found the tiredness went away quite quickly for me, however I do still struggle with constipation. I think that’s something that’s just going to happen to some people across all doses and you just need to make a real effort to keep on top of it.

I thought I had cracked it with glasses of hot water and lemon with every meal but that seems to have been short lived.

I am now thinking about laxido sachets or little fibre gummies from Holland and Barrett that I’ve heard about.

In other news, after a few bad days with lots of food noise (since reducing from 1mg back down to 0.5) my weight has dropped again to 10.7.

I guess it just shows how much goes on within your body and just need to keep powering through as much as possible.

Not sure why my reply has been hidden! What did I say Blush

BG2015 · 23/01/2026 08:55

I took my 4th injection yesterday of WG
These are my stats
SW 12st 9.9
Week 1 4.4 lb loss
week 2 2.4lb loss
week 3 1.3lb loss
Total - 8.1lb loss
CW 12st 1.8lb
So pleased with that. I only have just over 2 stone to lose so that loss is great for me. My blood pressure is already lower. My next injection is 0.5 so I'm hoping the side effects don't ramp up as they've been ok on this dose.
Cant say I've had loads of food suppression really but definitely not eating so much. Not had any alcohol either which I am missing a bit.

blondebombsite13 · 23/01/2026 09:48

@BG2015that’s a brilliant result, well done you!

Your starting weight and goal weight are very similar to mine, although I think you’ve lost a bit more than me on 0.25, very well done.

When I was 12 stone 10 and set my goal weight as 10 stone 8 I’m not sure I ever really believed I would get there. I’m still amazed that I have.

Very well done, you must be very pleased 👏

Goal weight at 11 stone seemed totally out of reach but maybe I could even go under like you - will have to see what I look like! 🤣

BG2015 · 23/01/2026 10:11

Absolutely.

I genuinely never thought I’d get here and am so happy.

The weightloss hasn’t been how I expected….but I’m not quite sure what I expected.

It’s been so long since I weighed anywhere near this I don’t really know how my body would look.

I think I just expected my big spare tyre to go, but it’s been the slight weight loss from all over my body, even the areas that I didn’t think were really a problem, that had had such a big impact.

For example, I even look different when brushing my teeth in the small bathroom mirror when wearing my big dressing gown because I’ve lost a lot of bulk from my shoulder and upper chest area. Although o hated my flabby upper arms, shoulders and chest weren’t an area I was concerned about and didn’t really think I was carrying weight there.

But I now look like my dressing gown is swamping a much smaller frame compared to how I looked before.

I have a pair of trousers and a skirt that I’ve had to put in charity bag as they are just so baggy around the waist.

But apart from that I am wearing the same clothes….but they look so different on me.

I have a baggy red jumper that I wear a lot for dog walks etc. because it’s baggy I thought it hid my shape a lot. But I realise now you could see the shape of the tummy etc through it. Whereas now it just hangs straight down as there’s much less bulk under it.

I’m going to stay on 0.5 for the foreseeable I think. If I can get to 10.6 and stay there I would be very happy. But I know there are going to be fluctuations. I just don’t want to fluctuate back up to approaching 11 stone, as it’s such a slippery slope.

@Newstartplease24 I hide mine too, my husband knows but i don't really want it to be a thing with my daughter and definitely not my mother! We have a separate drinks fridge and I hide the unopened pen in a champagne box, once it's opened it doesn't need to be refrigerated so it gets upgraded to the back of my knicker drawer.

Newstartplease24 · 24/01/2026 12:26

Oh you don’t refrigerate an open one?
I hid it in a jar at the back of the fridge. Behind weird pickles.

Newstartplease24 · 24/01/2026 12:28

Well done everyone! So many people on this thread have done so well, I’m inspired

ChristmasCalsDoCount · 24/01/2026 19:08

once opened they can be kept at room temperature (below 30 degrees) for 6 weeks. But behind the weird pickles is as good a place as any 😉

blondebombsite13 · 28/01/2026 09:13

Hi all, how is everybody doing?

So my weight really seems quite stuck.

I think this may well be as low as I can go.

I have just nudged into healthy BMI, and I look at feel a lot better, so I am very happy. It’s just that some days I’m nudging 10.8 and it’s a very easy slide from there to 10.9, 10.10….back to 11 stone….and from there it’s so easy to slip back to 12 stone, and that’s my worry.

I think this stalling may be something to do with coming back down from 1mg to 0.5. I only did 1 pen of 1mg and then reduced to 0.5 and in hindsight I think I was too hasty in going up to 1. I should have stuck to 0.5.

Although I also think this is probably just a natural plateau for my body.

Although my problem areas are much reduced, I still carry excess fat on stomach and hips mainly. And I think exercise is the only way to sort these out.

And I just don’t know how much determination I have for that.

I seem to have gone from “omg I’m so fat this is useless, I have no energy and going to the gym isn’t making any difference” before Wegovy

to now “I’m not that fat, I look so much better, I’m not miserable about how I look so there are things I would rather do than go to the gym”

BlushBlushBlushConfused

psychology has a lot to answer for!

Anyway, haven’t been to the gym for a while so I’m going to try and go today, but I do have a huge amount of other stuff to do so I don’t know….

ChristmasCalsDoCount · 28/01/2026 09:33

@blondebombsite13 I'm the same with the gym, but if i have classes booked i'm much more likely to attend. And once i've been i do actually feel so much better, plus there's nothing like doing Zumba in front of a large mirror to keep your motivation on track 😁

BG2015 · 28/01/2026 09:40

I think you're being hard on yourself @blondebombsite13youve done amazingly well. I also think when it's so cold and dark and miserable getting out to exercise is so much harder.

I had my first 0.5mg pen delivered yesterday ready to take tomorrow. I think my weight has stalled a little bit so I'm definitely ready to go up to the next dose. I'm coping ok with side affects - although I don't like how it makes me feel regarding the slowness of my bowels 😂 I get a bit of pain ( I've always wondered whether I have very mild IBS).

I certainly don't want to stay on the injections forever - I just don't like the unpredictability of how it affects you. Last night I went out for a meal with my friend, chose sensible foods e,g salmon, new potatoes and I woke in the night feeling really uncomfortable.

We're away next weekend on a European city break and I want to be able to enjoy a couple of nice meals and maybe a glass of wine so I'm going to delay my second 0,5 jab until the Sunday when we get back.

This definitely isn't long term for me. Once I get down to my target weight I'll come off them and try my dam hardest to keep it off.

blondebombsite13 · 28/01/2026 09:47

@BG2015I know what you mean, but I found that unpredictability really settled down for me quite quickly.

When I first started I was having to run to the loo quite a lot and was concerned about it happening in work Blush But that settled down really quickly. Although, yes, bowels have slowed down massively.

I thought I had cracked it by drinking hot water with lemon with every meal, but that didn’t last long.

I have just bought some psyllium husk from Holland and Barrett and hoping that helps.

@ChristmasCalsDoCountyes, good point about Zumbaing in the mirror Grin

You have convinced me. I am going to the gym.

I am just having scrambled egg on wholemeal toast then I’m going gym and Tesco.

Only had 1 egg so quite a small breakfast (I would usually have two). Have got eggs on my shopping list and we have family round for dinner tonight so going to make a big pot of chilli Smile

I will possibly look up if there is any way to make it lower calorie / higher protein, but that’s not particularly a route I want to go down too much.

I just want to eat good food in moderation, rather than calorie counting and being protein obsessed.

@BG2015enjoy your city break!!! V jealous
