Anybody just starting Wegovy?

blondebombsite13 · 27/08/2025 19:45

Hi all, been reading some threads with interest but wondering if there’s anybody on Wegovy that would like to share progress? Or any stories / tips etc from people further along.

About me, I am 44 and just not losing the excess weight like I used to and so have finally taken the plunge and started on Wegovy.

I guess I chose Wegovy due to the proposed price increases of Mounjaro, also, I thought Wegovy might be a bit more slow and steady as I only want to lose a few stone. Although I could be wrong about that, but we’ll see.

I have ordered through Juniper and they sent me a set of scales which pair to the app so I don’t need to manually record my weight, it does it for me.

I’m not sure how accurate the scales are though so I will also probably keep an eye on my own scales.

I had thought my starting weight was 12 stone 7 but I weighed on Juniper scales just now and it says 12 stone 10. I think for the purposes of tracking and discussion here I’ll just use 12 stone 10.

This is almost the biggest I have ever been. Following the birth of my third child I was 13 stone and I managed to get down to 11 and a half, but despite my efforts, I’m now back up at 12 stone 10.

I took first jab this evening, seemed straightforward. Don’t feel any different yet. I could eat, but not starving, going to try not to have anything this evening although I think that will probably require sheer will power as probably too soon for the jab to have any effect.

So,
Starting weight: 12 stone 10
Current weight: 12 stone 10
Waist: 30.5 inches
Target weight: 10 stone 9

Hi, got your message, thanks. I've shared my code a few times but I suppose you have to wait for someone to sign up and follow through.

Ive got my injection tucked away in the fridge. Set my scales up this morning and I plan on starting on the 1st.

We have hardly any Christmas leftovers now, all the chocolate has gone, we just have some cheeses we will eat for lunch today.

You sound like you have done so well with your weight loss. 4 months is amazing to lose 2 stone. Are you going to carry on or wean yourself off it?

blondebombsite13 · 30/12/2025 10:30

Hiya @bg2015

yes, you need to wait until somebody actually uses your code, but when they do it will automatically come off your next order.

I am due my third jab of 1ml today, and then I have a full pen of 0.5ml in the fridge. I also have a discount applied to my next pen so I can get it for a good price.

I am thinking of finishing the 1ml pen, using the 0.5ml, and then trying to wean off. Possibly buying the discounted pen (probably 0.5ml) to keep in reserve as a back up.

i tried on my old jeans this morning. They were tight but they went on. They looked good, but I had to take them off after 10 minutes as very uncomfortable!

I’m not sure I’m going to lose much more weight, doubtful I will lose enough to fit into them comfortably.

But I am ok with that. I just want to maintain the weight I am and tone up and keep healthy at the gym.

I just hope that’s going to be possible.

I think if I were to lose any more weight it would just be unsustainable and I don’t want to set myself up for a fall.

as I say, I’m still very much at the maximum weight that is healthy for me, but I think it’s a good weight for me. However it wouldn’t take much, a few pounds, to tip me back into unhealthy territory, so I guess it would be good to lose a bit more.

I don’t know. I’m very aware of “size blindness”. I was blind to just how big I was before (I’m horrified when I look at photos) and I’m aware of that fact that just now I am only just approaching a healthy weight (at very upper end of it) but sometimes almost manage to convince myself that I’m “skinny” now BlushGrin

its hard. I think viewing yourself objectively is very difficult to do.

Morning all, me again,

Last day of the year and feeling so grateful for this drug that has really been nothing short of amazing in helping my body get healthier.

I feel like myself again for the first time in years.

I went through my wardrobe yesterday to try and clear it out a bit as it was full to the gunnells.

Bad news is I go rid of pretty much nothing.

Good news is I am fitting into so many nice clothes that I have kept for years “just in case”.

Nothing fancy, just jumpers and some work trousers , but having worn the same couple of pairs of (maternity) trousers for work for the past few years, because it’s all that fit me and the large elasticated stomach section was the only thing that was comfortable, it’s amazing to have the option of wearing what I want, as opposed to what will fit.

I do feel very worried about stopping the Wegovy and it all piling back on, but I’ll just need to see how it goes.

Happy New Year when it comes everybody xxx

@blondebombsite13 , fantastic that you feel so good .Congratulations.
I actually lost 1lb over Christmas, and can’t quite believe it ( still have a way to go yet though to be at my happy weight ) Currently 11st 9 lbs.
I took my 3rd 1 mg jab on Sunday, but have really struggled with side effects of acid reflux and heartburn. I had half a glass of champagne on Christmas Day and immediately got heartburn, which is bloody annoying!
It has been worse since increasing to 1 mg and is bad for at least 3 days after the jab, despite trying to avoid certain foods and swigging gaviscon !
I’ve just been on to my GP today to ask for a prescription for omeprazole which hopefully will be more effective.
I may even go back down to 0.5 mg Wegovy .( I assumed increasing my dose would equate to bigger / quicker losses but it doesn’t seem to work that way for me) .
I hope everyone is well and has a Happy New Year.

blondebombsite13 · 31/12/2025 13:21

Hi @Mummatash

1lb loss over Christmas is great, well done.

sorry to hear about the heartburn / acid reflux. It’s something I am lucky enough to have never suffered from so have no experience of it but I’ve heard that omeprazole is very good.

I genuinely seem to have no side effects on 1mg.

I had a few side effects when I started on 0.25, very mild, and I can remember being incredibly tired and having a bit of an unpredictable toileting situation when I moved up to 0.5, but it all then seemed to settle. Not sure if it was because I stayed on 0.5 for such a long time.

I’m also not sure about the correlation between the dose and how much I lose. Ive never felt that I want the higher dose in order to eat less - I feel that overall ive eaten much less since I started on this and I don’t want to starve myself.

At the very beginning there were a couple of days when I had to force myself to eat, but since then my appetite has been fine, just less cravings, and smaller volumes.

Anyway, I’m rambling.

I hope you can get some omeprazole and it helps you. My sister in law suffered badly with heartburn during pregnancy and it really helped her.

Hope you had a lovely Christmas

Me again,

Partly just documenting here for my own benefit but also happy when others dip in, like hearing how you are getting on.

Looks like the 1mg is doing its job quite well! I’m not eating much, I’m just not very hungry, but I also feel like I’m not making the best choices, and probably not eating enough.

if I lose much more in this way I suspect it’ll just go back on quite quickly once food noise comes back.

I think after this pen (1 dose left) I’ll go back to 0.5 then try to wean off.

Very scared of it all going back on.

most people haven’t noticed the weight loss. It’s manly just the spare tyre round hips that’s gone, but I think that makes a huge difference. My chest is much thinner as well, boobs are smaller and chest and shoulder area (where I’ve heard women hold the least amount of weight) is really quite boney.

still plenty fat around the tummy though, but of course I can’t dictate where the fat is taken from.

Great progress! I have lost 1lb over Christmas, current is 11.9 so still slowly going in the right direction.

@blondebombsite13 i will be very interested to see how you get on moving back down the doses so please do keep us updated!

BG2015 · 05/01/2026 12:39

I'm on day 5 after taking my first jab. I've had a few niggly side effects, mainly nausea, and burping a lot more.

I can't say I've got major food suppression yet. Sneaky weigh in shows a 4lb loss, but I have been really watching what I'm eating and no alcohol since New Year's Eve so that's inevitable.

Happy to do my second dose on Thursday and see what happens.

blondebombsite13 · 05/01/2026 13:16

Well done @MincedMalbecand @BG2015!!

Those losses over Christmas and NY are brilliant.

My latest chart attached - now down at 10 stone 7.7!!!

I honestly can’t quite believe it.

But yes, @MincedMalbeclll be very interested to see what happens when I start coming down in doses, coming off it Blush

I suspect I may need to stay on a low and/or intermediate dose long term. But hopefully not.

So my target is set at 10.6 and I am currently 10.7 and a bit.

Healthwise, I feel a lot better, much more comfortable, no sore knees etc.

Looks wise, my wide hips mean that I haven’t really gone down a clothes size, but am comfortably in the size I was previously bursting out of.

I think I feel happy at this weight, but putting on even a little bit would tip me back over into unhappy, I think.

However, if I lost any more I don’t think I’d be able to sustain it.

Just look at my chart though! So happy Grin

BG2015 · 05/01/2026 14:14

@blondebombsite13 that's brilliant. I think I'd have to keep going so I'd lost a round 2 stone. Do you think you could lose more easily?

blondebombsite13 · 05/01/2026 14:20

I really don’t know, @BG2015!

It seems to be coming off at the moment…but then it can just stop, can’t it?

I can remember a few times over the past few months when I was feeing frustrated because my loss had really stalled / plateaud. But looking at my chart, I really can’t see that. It just feels like forever when you are living in it.

I’ve struggled for years to lose any weight at all, so I’m not going to be greedy….getting to an even 2 stone would be great, but I’m not going to beat myself up if I can’t do it.

I think there is a degree of having to let me body find its rhythm and natural size / shape and not push it too much.

I want to find a level around this weight that my body is comfortable with, in th hopes it doesn’t want to shoot back up to the 12,13 stone level of comfort!!!

On that subject, since losing weight, my boobs have deflated a bit. I didn’t have big boobs to start with, so I was sad to see them go, but i expected and accepted it.

Anyway, just this past week they have felt a bit fuller. A bit less deflated. Has anybody experienced this? Is this possible? Weight is still going down, so it’s not weight gain (or pregnancy!! Grin)

im wondering if it’s possible for my body to have given a bit back to them? Grin Maybe just wishful thinking!

Mummatash · 05/01/2026 18:06

@blondebombsite13 - as the OP in your first post your starting weight was 12st 10 lbs ,so you’ve actually already lost over 2 stone ! Absolutely amazing . I think if you carry on with Wegovy you will continue to lose ( the data shows that people continue to lose doesn’t it - even if very slowly ….

@MincedMalbec - well done on your loss over Christmas

@BG2015 - love that you’ve had a sneaky peek , I did that too !

Ive lost another pound over New Year , now 11st 8 lbs - it feels a bit unreal as I usually put on a couple of pounds at Christmas time and spend the next month trying to get it off . I just took my last dose out of my first 1 mg pen -
My GP has prescribed omeprazole for my horrible acid reflux ,so I’m going to stay on 1 mg pen, hopefully continue to lose.

Well done everyone

Hopping on to be nosy hope you don’t mind?

Have been on Mounjaro since May and have lost 3st, have pens for the next 2.5 months then I’ll be swapping to wegovy as the price increases are too much for us to manage!

have got another 4or5 stone to go so in it for the long haul!!!

Good luck with the start of your journey!!

I came on hoping to find someone that had switched from MJ to wegovy. I finished MJ 10 weeks ago and have put about 1st back on, so I am considering wegovy due to the cost of MJ. Can I asked if you switched, and if so, how are you getting on with it?

blondebombsite13 · 07/01/2026 09:24

Morning all,

very disheartening today.

Having got down to 10 stone 7.7 the scales this morning show 10 stone 11.2!!!!!

It’s not an error, it was fluctuating between 10 stone 9 and 10 stone 10 yesterday so I didn’t record it, I just jumped off and ignored it…so was somewhat expecting this today, although perhaps not quite so high.

On the one hand I think, how is this possible? That’s such a huge jump?

On the other it is just very sobering to see how quickly it can pile on.

I’ll admit I have been eating more like my old ways for th past few days and haven’t been to the gym much.

Starting to think I will need to stay on this for life.

I am currently on my period, maybe that has caused some of the gain.

Oh well, will see how it goes.

In other news, I did the Juniper blood test this morning and sent it off, so interested to see what that reveals.

Don't be disheartened. Look at your graph it's always been up and down and shows your body's natural fluctuations.

SerafinasGoose · 09/01/2026 11:33

It's probably water retention. Cut out any UPFs and sugar and it will probably come off. And remember that old maxim, 'quickly on, quickly off'.

I know the horrible soul-sinking feeling when this happens, even by just a couple of pounds. But when the body sheds water retention it does come off quite rapidly - I find I'm peeing half the night when this happens!

I'm experiencing a very frustrating plateau at the moment - the key when setbacks happen is consistency. You'll get back on track - just try to focus on all the gains you've made since the beginning.

Seahorsesplendour · 09/01/2026 17:01

@Shmee1988 hiya I’m really sorry I chickened out and bought more MJ. I was going great guns and it felt too risky to swap!!

however I have now lost 5st with 3 to go and really can’t justify the expense of MJ anymore so I have bought my first wegovy pen. Will be swapping when current MJ pen finishes which will be in 5-6 weeks depending if I stick to current dose!!

i will update you then!

my dp did swap to wegovy as had been on MJ for a much shorter time when the price increase hit & got on well with it, no noticeable difference to the MJ once went up from starter dose. Then had to stop due to gall stones but not blaming that on the wegovy as they’d have been forming way before she swapped & has a family history so knew it was a risk on the WLI.

hope that helps!

I will update once I swap!

good luck!

Hi, can I join please?

Starting weight; 65kg
height 5’1” It’s being short that makes me look too big and it’s all on my hips, tummy and thighs and I’ve been in denial for a long time.
BM1 27.1 with a qualifying health condition just crept over the line and have been accepted by MedExpress for Wegovy.
I would love to get to 53kg which is midway in the healthy BMI range and haven’t been anyway near that for years. I’m 63 and in the last 10 years have steadily gained 10kg over that time and have never been able to lose more that 2kg and when I have lost that small amount I’ve put it back on in no time. So a target of 12kg but unsure how realistic that is.

Ordered my first pen this week but am off on holiday in two weeks so have decided not to start until I get back mid February in case of bad side effects.

WhoInvitedHer · 09/01/2026 19:10

Also my maintenance calories are 1370. Surely I don’t need to drop to 870 a day to lose weight? That sounds far too low

blondebombsite13 · 10/01/2026 08:27

Thanks @BG2015and @SerafinasGoose- I know I shouldn’t get so hung up on numbers.

Some of it probably was water retention, also I was quite constipated but I took some Senna and that seemed to get things moving yesterday Blush

I didn’t eat much yesterday so interested to see why the scales say today.

However, on the subject of “not eating much” yesterday, the reports in the news lately have been playing on my mind a lot. I need to stop relying on eating “less” because of the hunger suppression and start making better habits.

I feel that I did this at the start (lots of salads with boiled eggs for protein etc) and as the Wegovy has worked so well I feel I’ve got complacent and have jus been eating the same old bad stuff, but in much smaller quantities.

Going to make a shopping list and do a big, healthy shop tomorrow.

Ditto exercise. I am still walking a lot but I need to get back to the gym and working on building muscle.

I noticed in the bath yesterday that lying back with my feet on the floor of the bath and my knees together, my thighs no longer touch, there is a small gap. (FYI this is only in this position in the bath!! When standing normally I do not have a thigh gap, my thighs very much still touch!). Anyway, it didn’t look great. The fact they no longer touch all the way down to knees is great, there has obviously been fat loss. But they looked flabby and soft. I want them to be strong.

I’m not a natural gym go’er though so I don’t find it easy but will just need to try.

Hope everyone has a good weekend!!! Brew

Hi @WhoInvitedHer, welcome 👋

Good luck on your journey….similar to you I set a target but didn’t know if it would be achievable or not. But it absolutely was!

I’ve lost 2 stone and though I would like to lose more, I don’t want to lose too much and not be able to sustain it. So I’m now thinking about how and when to reduce and come off the jabs.

As regards your calories, I’m not sure. I’ve never calorie counted. I’m just not organised or regimented enough for that.

Lots of people do though, so if it’s something that works for you, great.

What I did was have a set breakfast and lunch each day which I would take to work (overnight oats, chicken salad) massively cut down on snacks, and then my normal dinner but smaller quantities.

Good luck! Smile Let us know how you get on

Morning all,

further to my posts earlier this morning, my charts attached.

so I’m back down at 10.7.7 after the blip up back up at 10.11.

Just one of those things I guess although it really was a big jump!

@blondebombsite13 exercise doesn’t come naturally to me either & definitely not the gym!! I am now hooked on Lucy Wyndham-Read on YouTube! She’s fab! Very easy to follow literally 100’s of options!

Very evidenced base & very effective!

The best thing for me is lots of different lengths so I can always fit a short 10 min by one in at random times of day then do a longer one or a few short ones if I have longer!!

it’s free & I just stick a sports bra on under my pj’s and crack on!!

highly recommend trying it before you pay out for a gym!!
