Anybody else planning to start in September?

I’ve been procrastinating for months but decided to go for it despite the price increases. Waiting for my delivery from Medexpress and planning on 1st Sept start.

I took jab #4 last night. Loss to date (3weeks) 10.75lbs.

I am not reading into appetite suppression too much, provided the weight loss is coming. I lost almost twice as much this week as the week before and on paper ate more, but it was better quality food. I wouldnt say my appetite was very suppressed at mealtimes etc, I just had less food noise in between meals.

Im gonna stick to 2.5mg until the losses slow way way down.

This is me too... I don't think I have suppression as such, but I don't get any hunger pangs until around 5 hours after my last meal.

This afternoon I was starving... I'm suspecting the artificial sweetener in the clear protein powder triggered it.

I like the fact that I still get hunger pangs and also don't have an urge to snack between meals - which I think is also so to do with food choices.

Even though I ordered two 2.5mg pens at the beginning, my pharmacy has sent an email reminding me to reorder... so I might order a 5mg as they currently have a discount of £15 which makes it the same price as their 2.5mg.

Found the right thread at last! I collected my first prescription today and plan to inject tonight after I have put kids to bed. I have been nervous all day but am happy to give this a try. I figure I can stop if it doesn’t agree with me. Apart from the needle stuff, my main fear is getting constipation as I already have issues going to the loo after a traumatic birth. I am hoping that my family see a different me at Christmas 🎄

I was also anxious about using the needle but I promise you that the needle is so fine that I didn’t even feel a pin prick! If I hadn’t seen the dial go back to 0,
I might have thought the pen hadn’t worked!

Well first dose was a bit dicey as the pen didn’t go back to 0 so I had to put it in twice more (I know it says only do this once but it was very close to 0 the last time). I had a headache minutes later but decided that was probably stress/adrenalin rather than the medication! You’re right about barely feeling the needle.

So here is my two weeks musings! Mainly as a record for myself and in case it helps with anyone else.

After my first three days (being sick and nausea) I have been relatively side effect free. I do get headaches but that is totally down to when I haven’t drunk enough water. And I think I’m beginning to get fatigue but that might also be because I am having an unrelated mental health wobble.

Buying two water bottles of 1 litre capacity and that have the times to drink it by on the side has been one of the best things I’ve done. I have one at home and one at work and it is now part of my routine to fill them up in the morning and drink through the day. It pleases me to see the water going down in the bottle and also is so much easier to remember how much water I have had. 2 empty bottles means I’m at my target and anymore is a bonus.

I miss drinking alcohol at a social setting and feel like a boring person, a couple of glasses of wine defo makes me more fun and easier to be around. But I simply don’t fancy it and can’t bring myself to drink. The positive of this is that I am not drinking!!!!

I haven’t cracked food yet! I don’t like many of the high protein foods (fish / overnight oats / eggs / tofu / Greek yoghurt) so need to work on that. Any suggestions welcome!

My menopause brain has forgotten what weight I was when I started, other than it was in the 20stone range so I don’t know if I have lost anything yet! I must call in at the pharmacy and ask them.

I am very worried about loose skin - I am peri meno, 53 years of age and have been a size 24 for over 29 years so I don’t think my skin will ping back!

The jabs don’t hurt at all. But I can’t quite get myself to push them in and have to get poor ole husband who is needle-phobic to do it.

Ive told pretty much everyone! Im hopeless at keeping anything secret and am hoping the awfulness of telling people I have given up will stop me giving up.

I am concerned about the £££ but like the security of getting the drugs from my local pharmacist so no deals, but when I am more comfertable I think I will shop around.

I don’t understand the stuff about dose splitting and clicks to save money. If anyone wants to explain it I would be grateful.

It’s very weird not having chocolate or sweets (because I simply don’t want them) to cheer me up or give myself a treat. So I do think it’s making me a bit more miserable. Not sure what to do with that realisation.

I think I might move my jab day. Currently it’s Monday. Which means by the weekend it’s worn off a bit and I have found eating cake more likely. Maybe having that lull in suppression mid week would be easier.

And that’s about it!!!! Still glad and proud of myself for having a go and starting the journey xxxxx

Hello all you newbies! I’ve been on MJ since the end of Jan and just having a nosy!

The number of clicks might be a bit soon for you, yet but I saw the question, so thought I’d answer.

No idea how the Wegovy pen works but each dose in an MJ pen is 60 ‘clicks’.

if you’re feeling unwell on a dose, you may wish to give yourself a half dose (30 clicks) or a 3/4 dose (45 clicks)

The table saves you doing the maths!!

How are you all sleeping? My sleep has been awful this week. I did my 4th injection from my 2.5 pen yesterday (a couple of days later than planned as I was having a bit of a wobble over whether I wanted to continue) and I only had about an hour's sleep last night. I was a bit hungry when I went to bed which probably didn't help. I am trying to be a bit stricter with calories as I actually gained 2lb since my last weigh in but still had 1500 calories with 100g of protein yesterday. I've ordered my next 5mg pen as the 2.5 doesn't seem to have any effect on hunger, but I am worried it might make my sleep even worse. It all seems like a bit of an effort for little reward at the moment as I have only lost 4lb in 4 weeks!

UnimaginableWindBird · 18/09/2025 08:03

I'm sleeping better, but my sleep was dire before I started. In my case, I think eating better and taking more exercise is making a difference.

SoUncertain · 18/09/2025 09:03

@jigsawmeup I always sleep very deeply, so haven't noticed much difference really. Hope the 5mg pen works much better for you!

Thanks @GLP1Girl! How have you got on with it so far?

My updates are that I have told a couple of family members now and they've been really supportive, which is so nice.

Also I ate a bit of junk last night as we were running very late for dinner and felt rubbish afterwards. Mainly slightly nauseous, and this morning I was much groggier than normal and felt rubbish until I ate a bit of breakfast. So I can confirm it's definitely not worth it!

I feel okay on 0.25 mg for the present so am sticking with that for another month.

I've had the odd 'hollow' day where nothing I ate seemed to satisfy me. That was mainly when I'd started the day eating carbs, so it will be interesting to see if that becomes a pattern.

Otherwise, the suppression is working sufficiently well to enable me to average out about 1300 cals per day. I'll view that as working - until it doesn't or until weight loss stalls for several weeks. IME that happens sporadically no matter what you do, but I'd like to see if other people's experiences gel.

It will be a succession of tweaks until we find what's right for us, I guess. But I'm not keen to increase the dose until this becomes very obviously necessary.

outofofficeagain · 18/09/2025 09:35

I think I’m either going to stay on 2.5 or move up to 5 (have both in the fridge). Like @ladyginI’m also a stickler for the rules so it would not help my anxiety to go off piste.

staying on 2.5 would be my preference

still finding myself hungry and eating similar quantities at meal times but snacking is way down. If weightloss continues this week and next, I’ll stay on 2.5. If not, i’ll go up

My second dose of 2.5 is due tomorrow, I’ve lost 5lb this week but that is mainly due to the diarrhea I am struggling with! I was really ill when it started on Sunday evening, my stomach felt like it was erupting although I was not nauseous so I ended up taking 4 Imodium through the night - as per the instructions of 2 initially followed by another one after every episode up to 6 in 24 hours.

I was OK then until yesterday morning when I had another bout ( 3 runs to bathroom first thing!) so I researched what foods to help with diarrhea and restricted my self to a limited amount of hard boiled eggs, white bread, banana and plain biscuits as well as drinking a lot of water. Having been fine all day, I had three plums with some Greek yoghurt after tea.

So I was upset this morning to wake to to yet another bout of diarrhoea, similar to yesterday, so I’m wondering whether to eat nothing for 24 hours, just drinking water. What do you think?

I am getting my Mounjaro through a local pharmacist so I can ask him for advice if this continues. I will take my next dose tomorrow as I’ve got no specifics plans for a few days so can stay home to see what happens but I’m worried in case it turns out that Mounjaro is not suitable for me.

Atalosswhat2do · 18/09/2025 11:10

1st Week complete!

SW: 12st 3lb
CW: 11st 11lb
+/- -6lb

I struggle to eat in the morning so this week I’m introducing a protein shake for breakfast!

I wonder if the plums were too much as your body was already quite sensitive? Or was your dinner particularly oily? I think stick to your plain diet for a bit and keep trying different add-ons, but keep a detailed food diary of exactly what you have and whether you have any symptoms.

Keeping a food diary is a good idea, so far today it’s been a weak cup of coffee, a banana and a litre of water.

I agree about the plums, I did wonder if I should eat them but I just felt like I ought to eat some fruit.

I didn’t eat anything oily, just banana, white bread, eggs, plain biscuits and the Greek yoghurt with three small chopped up plums - oh and a sneaky packet of low cal crisps.

So the guilty triggers could have been the plums, crisps or butter on my bread.

I took some Imodium in the end as I need to go out this afternoon to collect a food order and was getting fed up of trips to the bathroom. I’ve upped my water consumption, I’m drinking as if there will be a drought tomorrow which ties me to the house as well.

4th jab today... I was very hungry last night, so it must've definitely have worn off

Start weight: 121.4kg
Current weight: 118.2kg
Total loss: 3.2kg / 7lbs in 3 weeks
Goal weight: 78kg / 172lbs (probably will increase)

2.5mg dose
Week 1: 121.4KG
Week 2: 120.7kg - 0.7kg / 1.5lbs
Week 3: 119.4kg - 1.3kg / 2.9lbs
Week 4: 118.2kg - 1.2 / 2.6lbs

Georgelassosthemoon · 18/09/2025 18:50

Jab 3 today. Did it in my stomach which was more painful for me than legs. I have fat legs though.
Weight has stayed the same for eight days now.

Absolutelycluelesss · 18/09/2025 19:18

Well I was all set for ‘tonight to be the night’ I’ve eaten clean all day, to minimise any side effects as I know people have mentioned if they have that ‘one last blow out’ they regret it after taking mj. However after reading @Ihateslugs posts and the awful diarrhoea you’ve been experiencing I think it may be best to jab tomorrow. I work in a school and I’m so worried I’ll not make it to the toilet in time. At least then I have this weekend to battle through. X

Well done!!

I'm still having good suppression on 2.5mg - jab day today and lunch time was the first time I've felt hungry in ages!!

I'm going to be attempting to get and inject the extra dose from the pen this evening; will report back with ease/success etc.

I've increased protein and it's definitely helped with satiety. Not weighing until Saturday as my jab day weight seems to be higher than Saturday weight? Strange, but I'm just going with it.

Kazzaa46 · 18/09/2025 20:34

I’m 48 hours post first jab and so far I’ve been very lucky to not get any significant side effects.
I’m aware when I need to eat but have no desire to eat, I’m struggling to get my minimum calories as I get full too quickly so that part is hard and I am trying to eat little and often.
I’ve been taking an omeprazole each day which seems to be helping as I started to feel a bit of acid reflux and nausea just before I took one today which then disappeared soon after.
The one minor side effect I’m getting is my head feels fuzzy like I’m a bit spaced out and it’s like I feel a bit queasy but not nauseous- it’s very hard to explain.

maz99 · 18/09/2025 21:02

Yes, I picked Friday as my jab day for the same reasons!

OneDayIWillLearn · 18/09/2025 22:27

Well week 2 has carried on with much greater suppression than week 1, starting only a few hours after I jabbed for the second time on Monday. It’s been a weird week as I’ve been away all week travelling and away for work so lots meals out/ buffet food/ meals on the go etc. The good side of it is that I really haven’t felt like eating at all and have eaten small amounts and then felt full. Whereas I would usually have eaten a whole fish and chips, full English breakfast etc. The bad side of it is that it is not the food I would have chosen (chip shop fish and chips, Indian, Chinese!) so even eating tiny amounts I’ve ended up feeling quite queasy.

I’m finding it strange to try and get used to such a different relationship with food too. It feels very unnerving if I’m honest! Though refreshing to have so little food noise and to find it so easy to resist things like biscuits and cakes at a conference, crisps at the petrol station etc. But I am not at all used to it and I probably am missing the dopamine or comfort eating effect.

Hoping for slightly lower suppression at the weekend. If I get suppression like this next week then no way I want to go up to 5ml as I think I would find it overwhelming. But I wonder if it’ll wear off or be more similar to my first week again?!

Pinkbox · 19/09/2025 09:28

So I did my first dose Wednesday night. Had a bit of difficulty getting the full dose so had to re-insert the needle (stressful when it’s the first time you’ve ever injected anything!).

So I got a headache in my temples within the first five minutes and I put that down to stress and adrenaline. However, that continued into yesterday and stuck with me all day. I also had quite crippling nausea yesterday. So that stopped me wanting to eat and I wasn’t sure whether any suppression had also kicked in or not, because I felt so rotten. I was aware I shouldn’t starve myself, but also trying to deal with the nausea I didn’t hit my daily calorie target. I also had a couple of bouts of crushing fatigue where I had to put my head down on my desk! I wondered if that was just due to the whole ‘OMG I am on MJ’ thing going off in my brain.

It’s hard to know if I didn’t want lunch due to the nausea or the MJ. I made myself have a yoghurt at 3 pm and immediately wished I hadn’t. Couldn’t have dinner with the family and had some toast.

This morning, I have woken up with a mild headache and much milder nausea plus some burping. I assume I eat at normal times and just stop when I’m full. But I am worried about not hitting calories and then losing muscle and health, isn’t that a thing?

I am hoping today is better regarding the nausea so that I can see how the MJ actually makes me feel, foodwise. Did other people get suppression/feeling full symptoms from the first day?

SerafinasGoose · 19/09/2025 09:39

Sorry to those who are experiencing side effects.

My weigh-in day today, due dose #4 early this evening.

SW - 15 st
CW - 14 st 6 lbs
First GW 13 st 7 lbs (Nutra Check app recommends doing this in steps, which somehow feels less daunting)

So that's 1 lb lost this week (nothing last week). It's slow, but I'm aiming for slow but steady and at least it's going in the right direction.
