Anybody else planning to start in September?

I’ve been procrastinating for months but decided to go for it despite the price increases. Waiting for my delivery from Medexpress and planning on 1st Sept start.

Hi all,

Great to be reading all your updates. I'm please to say that week2 is going easier for me, a lot less fuzzy headaches.

I am struggling with my evening meal though, I think I've worked out that I'm not keen on red meat right now.

Last night I made a potato, courgette and tomato bake with the tiniest amount of oil and the rest with fry light and herbs etc and some cheese on the top. It was bloody lovely but almost a bit too salty, I simply couldn't eat much of it though.

Have you got any suggestions for a nice fri night meal? I might treat myself to a little G&T too.

4th jab today and weigh in!

No loss this week for the first time in about 16 weeks - I had already lost almost 2 stone purely by dieting and intermittent fasting. I’ve lost 5lb since starting the WLIs which is slightly disappointing as that’s about the same as my steady loss before.

But I’ll be moving up to 5mg from next week so hopefully I’ll start to see some more weight loss. The reason for using Mounjaro now is to boost my losses ahead of knee replacement surgery. I decided to get the medication through a pharmacist so I could get advice on this and he was happy for me to aim for a higher weight loss for a relatively short period of time.

I think I need to stop obsessively counting calories and just follow my previous model of only eating in an 8 hour window and choosing healthy meal options. When I starting aiming for 1400 cals a day ( what the TDEE calculator said I needed to lose 1/2 kg a week based on my current weight, age and height) I found myself having little treats at the end of the day to “ use up” any leftover calories!

namechange0998776554799000 · 03/10/2025 12:58

3rd jab yesterday and now I need to order my next pen but so unsure whether to move up to 5mg! The 2.5 is working well, I'm eating a lot less and I've lost over half a stone. But each week I'm finding it harder to stay on track as the week goes on - by day 6 I'm quite hungry and finding I need a lot of willpower to avoid the snacks. My worry is that if I stay on 2.5, by the end of the next 5 weeks I'll be really struggling. I'm assuming that over time your body gets 'used to' the mj and you do eventually need a higher dose to get the same level of suppression you get at the beginning? On the other hand, I've read all the advice about taking it slow & steady and avoiding the more serious side effects by not moving up too soon. I do get a bit of nausea and constipation the first two days after a jab, and my heart rate gets a lot faster too.

maybe the best idea is to move to 5mg and if I change my mind, just inject half a dose?

what is everyone else doing?

namechange0998776554799000 · 03/10/2025 13:11

Now I've actually read the last few comments I see quite a few are/have moved up to 5mg. I think this is where I'm leaning now.

if I get 5mg and decide to only take half the dose, it's 30 clicks instead of 60, right? And 45 clicks to do 3.75mg?

So I went and picked up my second pen today, I take the 4th injection from my first pen ( 25mg) tomorrow morning. I’ve registered with a local pharmacist for the NHS supported weight loss programme - still buy the Mounjaro of course. I had an initial 20 minute consultation and go back every four weeks for a weigh in and mini health check before getting the next pen. I find it reassuring to speak to someone face to face to answer any questions and give encouragement and also not have to wait for a delivery.

Although I was uncertain about going up to a 5mg pen having had diarrhoea or constipation following the first three injections, I have followed his advice and bought the 5mg pen. We talked about ways of helping with the side effects by eating certain foods rather than using supplements or medication. His advice was that as the diarrhoea and constipation were caused by a reaction to Mounjaro, it is better to try drinking more fluids and focusing on food choices
( increase fibre, eat binding type foods etc) so I stopped at the supermarket on the way home for apples, kiwi fruit, popcorn, bananas and eggs!

I thought the 5mg pen would cost more than the 2.5mg one as when I compared prices on a Mounjaro pricing website, they went up in price with every increase in strength. I was surprised when I paid exactly the same so my new pen was quite a bit less than the prices I’d seen quoted.

Onwards and upwards, here’s to a week of no side effects!

Lucky you on the price of the 5mg 😁

Yes indeed, my sister just looked at the online place she gets her pens from, there the 5mg pen is £199, an increase of over £50 from their 2.5 mg pen! Maybe the pharmacist made a mistake, I did check though when I got home that I’d been given the right dosage!

It’s my birthday tomorrow and she’s just been round with my present, it included two tubs of gummies fill of collagen to help with possible hair thinning! When I first saw the tubs, I thought she was giving me cannabis gummies!

5mg is £165 from my supplier

I’m moving up to 5mg for month 2. I still have no cravings or urge to eat unhealthy foods, but since jab 3 I didn’t even notice any difference taking it from the end of week 2 so it feels like I need a stronger dose.

I haven’t lost weight this past week (I weigh every couple of days). My plan was to stay on 2.5 for a couple of months or move to 3.75, but since I’ve had no side effects, I’m hoping 5mg will be fine.

I could have written your exact post! In the end I have ordered 5mg as I have struggled with hunger this week. Bit worried but I figure I can always reduce the dose a bit if I really don’t get on with it….

Did jab #6 this morning... 2nd dose of 3.75mg (2.5mg from 5mg pen and 1.25mg from 2.5mg pen)

Start weight: 121.4kg
Current weight: 116.7kg
Total loss: 4.7kg / 10.4lbs in 5 weeks
Goal weight: 78kg (might change)

2.5mg dose
Week 1 - 120.7kg: - 0.7kg / 1.5lbs
Week 2 - 119.4kg : -1.3kg / 2.9lbs
Week 3 - 118.2kg: -1.2kg / 2.6lbs
Week 4 - 118.6kg: +0.4kg / 0.9lbs

3.75mg dose
Week 5 - 117.8kg: -0.8kg / 1.8lbs
Week 6 - 116.7kg: -1.1kg / 2.4lbs

Correction:

Total loss: 5.4kg / 11.9lbs in 5 weeks (0.7kg more... yes I'm claiming it...! 😂)

UnimaginableWindBird · 03/10/2025 20:48

Weigh-in and stab day for me, too.

Start Weight: 211 lbs, BMI 34.1
1st Goal Weight: 190 lbs (10% bodyweight loss)
Current Weight: 200.2 lbs, BMI 32.6
Total loss: 10.8 lb

Mounjaro, 2.5mg

Week 1: -1.4 lb
Week 2: -4.4 lb
Week 3: - 2.6lb
Week 4: - 2.4lb

I can definitely see a difference in my shape. The downside is that I'm pretty sure my period pants won't fit well enough to work properly next month.

A stone in five weeks is really good! I’m definitely not losing as much on 2.5mg but I’m going up to 5mg next week so fingers crossed!

I'm still managing on 0.25, for how much longer remains to be seen.

I've actually managed a 2 lb loss this week - scales had moved down by another lb this morning. I know it fluctuates, but I'd had the mother of all horrible periods plus constipation in the past week which has (for the avoidance of TMI) now 'resolved' itself.

Feeling absolutely dreadful with some form of cold/flu type bug which has lingered on for ages and made me incapable of exercise. But an II lb loss in 6 weeks (including the 2 lbs I lost in the week before I'd started the Wygovy) is nearly a third of the weight I wanted to lose, and seeing this start will keep up my motivation for the long game.

Some of the bulk's gone from around my middle and even with the horrible cold, I still feel healthier now my body is no longer full of processed rubbish. Now comes the challenge of cementing those habits for the longterm.

SnowWhiteisMyFavourite · 04/10/2025 10:32

W6D1 (2.5mg)

SW 19st 3lbs
CW 17st 8lbs
GW1 15st
GW2 13st
Last week -5lbs, total 23lbs, just over 10kg in total.

Not sure how that happened because last week didn’t start well. I had roast beef on Sunday and came to a conclusion that my stomach can’t deal with red meat at the moment or it was the glass of red wine. I was so bloated until Wednesday!

I’m still sticking with 1200-1400 cals per day and eating 5 times a day: breakfast, lunch, snack, dinner and snack (usually banana) before bed. I have no cravings and I can stop eating before I feel full. Normal feeling of hunger before meals. I think the biggest change in my diet is that I’m eating less carbs and no sugary treats.

Kazzaa46 · 04/10/2025 10:39

Congratulations on the losses everyone ☺️

@SerafinasGoose I hope you feel better soon. That bug seems to be getting everyone at the moment.

@Ihateslugs Good luck starting the 5mg, hopefully you’ll see things moving better. I was reading one of the studies they did and a lot of people don’t see progress on the initial 2.5 dose as it’s designed to get your body used to it rather than be a therapeutic dose although some people do respond to this dose. I’ll be a few days behind you on starting the 5mg

Hi.
I struggle to find the correct thread for me, which is why I'm only just posting on here.
Please can someone tell me if I'm in the wrong place?
I started Mounjaro on 26.9.25. Dose is 2.5mg rising to 5mg after a month.
It is prescribed by my GP / Diabetes Centre as I have multiple medical issues including T2 and a Brain Tumour. This affects my balance so puts strain on my joints and affects my mobility. Hence the weight gain. My Neurologist suggested Mounjaro to try and break the cycle and improve my mobility.
My starting weight was 97.8 Kg and after a week and my second injection yesterday, I was 95.2, so a 2.6 Kg weight loss.
I seem to have lost interest in food and I'm only eating twice a day.
Last week I ran a cake stall and wasn't tempted to eat anything.
My blood sugars are erratic, but I'm testing daily and if they drop too low, I've been told to lower my dose of diabetes medication.

Is anyone in a similar situation please? It seems that most people are buying the injections purely for weight loss as I can't find a thread for people being prescribed for medical issues.
Any advice appreciated.

Stompythedinosaur · 04/10/2025 12:20

@zacsGranny I think you need proper medical advice rather than ask here. Do you have a diabetes nurse you could contact?

I've often been only eating twice a day and it hasn't worried me but I'm not in your complex medical situation.

I hope you get the advice you need!

Stompythedinosaur · 04/10/2025 12:21

Yes I have medical advice and I can speak to my Diabetes Nurse.
Was really just looking for some peer support if anyone is in any kind of similar situation.

It was stab day for me on Thursday and weigh day today. I stabbed 3.75mg this week, after 3mg last week. 3mg was fine, but it didn't feel any different to 2.5mg really, so I thought I'd titrate up a bit as the food noise is creeping in.

We did have a Chinese takeaway last night, but it was a lovely treat rather than anything that caused guilt afterwards. I had some rice, chow mein, lemon chicken, prawn crackers and a single prawn ball. All within calorie allowance and super tasty. The Chinese we use cook so beautifully and without chemicals etc, so it hasn't bothered my stomach at all.

I've lost 'only' 1.5lb this week, though I did weigh on Sunday last week as I was poorly on Saturday, so may actually be 2lb really, who knows? I could weigh again tomorrow but I'd rather be back to Saturdays for that. Stab day to stab day seems to show no loss for me, so I must lose all my weight exclusively on Fridays?? Grin

I've struggled to swim so much this week as having some sciatic pain, which is irritating. I'm resting this weekend and hoping to get back to routine with swims on Monday/Friday next week. I'm also due on this week, which meant only a 1.5lb loss last time and then 3lb the week after that so I'm hoping it'll be the same this month!

Anyway. Stats:

SW: 19st 1lb
CW: 17st 8lb
GW1: 13st

SoUncertain · 04/10/2025 13:30

Hi everyone. Sounds like you're all doing amazingly!

Sorry I've been ignoring you all - we had to put my dog to sleep this week as his cancer started to get worse, and I just wanted to shut out the world for a bit.

Surprisingly still managed to eat ok - haven't been shopping so it's junk from the freezer, but not big portions and with some veg. Another big difference is that I haven't turned to emotional eating which was a massive problem for me before WLIs.

Going to try to take my golden dose tomorrow. I have a 5mg pen for next week, but I think I may stay at 2.5 for a bit longer as it's still working pretty well for me.

Hope everyone is staying safe in the storm. X

Kazzaa46 · 04/10/2025 15:07

@SoUncertain I’m so sorry to hear you lost your dog, it’s such a difficult time when we lose them as they’re part of the family. Hope you’re doing ok.

@zacsGranny welcome to the group. We’re all September starters so you’re in the right place and while a lot of us are weight loss only, I believe some also have underlying conditions and it’s a good place to share our experiences with this medication.
