Anybody else planning to start in September?

I’ve been procrastinating for months but decided to go for it despite the price increases. Waiting for my delivery from Medexpress and planning on 1st Sept start.

Hi @Mermaidbutterwagon - I'm also hoping for ADHD improvement. I'm very aware that I use good as a stink and also as a quick diamond hit, so I'm curious to see how it will go.

I haven't actually ordered any yet - I'm dithering a bit about suppliers and price increases, and I wanted to get some health checks before starting, and I just got my blood test results back yesterday.

Can I ask which suppliers everyone had gone for and why?

I’ve sent you a DM

Morning!

Technically I am an August starter as I injected my first dose on Thursday, but the August thread seems much further on then I feel. Please can I join, even though I will be 2 doses in by September?

I've signed up with Juniper (have a referral code if anybody would like it) and have found them brilliant so far. Easy to talk to - no problem opting for MJ even though their advertising has been pushing WG since the price hikes. Order arrived safely and included scales and a measuring tape. I like the app and appreciate the AI bot to ask questions to without having to talk to a 'real' human tbh.

I may not stick with them long term, but I was very, very nervous to start and wanted to additional support. That said, I've opted out of their 'health coach' add-on to reduce the price as much as possible with the upcoming hikes! They are still in negotiations so no guaranteed prices released yet.

Just collected my first Mounjaro pack from Boots.
The plan is to inject tonight - give me Bank Holiday Monday for any side effects to appear...

OneDayIWillLearn · 24/08/2025 18:27

Can I ask what kind of meals you’re thinking of having when you start? Fingers crossed I’m starting a week tomorrow if my call on Tuesday goes ok so starting to think about meal planning! I have two children (6 and 8) and a vegetarian husband (does eat fish).

what I usually have when doing weight watchers is:
no food for breakfast but a cup of redbush tea with a bit of oat milk then a large flask of instant coffee with oat milk over the morning.

lunch: a pot of cottage cheese, a small packet of popcorn and 2 or 3 pieces of fruit

dinner: examples might be baked potato with coleslaw (low fat mayo/ yoghurt dressing) and prawns. Salmon and pototoes/ broccoli. Roast vegetables with goat’s cheese. Prawn curry and rice. Spinach/ chickpea/ chopped tomatoes with flatbreads. Falafel and salad/ humous.

trying to get my head around whether that kind of thing will work on MJ!!

outofofficeagain · 24/08/2025 18:39

So, from what I have heard, you basically just don’t feel like eating.

However you need to, as you’ll lose weight too quickly and muscle and bone density issues are serious concerns, especially if you are in peri-menopause or older.

So protein and veg are priority. Yoghurt, eggs, smoothies with protein powder.

I’m planning on making some overnight oats with peanut butter and protein powder to keep in fridge for breakfast. Maybe some eggs/tuna and salad for lunch and then a small portion of our normal dinner.

Please may I join even though I began today? I'm a teacher and 1st September is always a fresh start (new 'year') so I was planning wait, but then I thought I'd be kicking myself if I feel ill with side effects going back after being off for the summer break.

Took it about 8 and a half hours ago and fine in myself without any noticeable side effects yet, or any pain when injecting, but left a noticeable bruise on my leg!

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 24/08/2025 19:08

I have just ordered my very first injection.
I just saw a photograph of myself with my children sleeping on me and I have ruined it by the way I look. So yeh, hoping to do this for a few months, let the weight fall off and then get into a good way of eating again

Can I say, although you don’t have to justify why you are here, you have absolutely not ruined that photograph.

One day your children will (and you) will cherish it and wish there were more of them.

Can I join you OP?

I ordered Mounjaro and paid on Thursday but expect it will despatched on Tuesday (forgot it was a bank holiday in Northern Ireland!), so hopefully arrive by Thursday this week. I’m in Ireland and ordering from NI as it’s cheaper but maybe not for much longer. 😭

DS is back at secondary school on Wednesday so I thought I’d start this coming weekend.

I’ve got over 5 stones to lose so I'm hoping this will finally help me shift the baby weight. (!!)

UnimaginableWindBird · 24/08/2025 20:16

Good luck everyone. I've placed an order and uploaded photos but am still waiting for approval. I'm planning on trying to get around 80-100g of protein and 30+g of fibre each day but I don't want to plan too much in case my tastes change, or some foods give me bad side effects.

JustPickleRick · 24/08/2025 20:57

I'd like to join! I have my pen ready in the fridge for when I get back home from visiting family. I'm planning on taking the first dose on Friday. I go back to work as a teacher on Wednesday so I'm thinking Friday is the best day so I hopefully avoid a bad tummy in work 😅 I'm really excited to start but also nervous. I hope it works for me. I'm so fussy so will struggle with getting variety in my diet 😬

Snap! Also a teacher who has 'September is a new year, so let's have a new start-itis.'

I've had minimal side effects. A bit burpy, but not sulphur burbs. Possibly slightly constipated, but still going daily.

@outofofficeagain I would agree with 'just don't feel like it.' I don't fancy anything at all, despite constantly 'fancying' some food or other usually. I am eating, because I have to, but there is no pleasure in it. Just fuel.

I have boiled eggs in the fridge to snack on, and crudites. Have made some egg muffins for breakfasts, also had porridge/weetabix. Overnight oats in the fridge for tomorrow.

Lunch has been salad/a wrap/soup.

Dinner - as others - a smaller portion of what everyone else is having. No evening snacks!! Shock

JustPickleRick · 24/08/2025 22:03

I wish i'd started at the beginning of the 6 week holidays so I'd have my head around it by now. All of the water is going to be interesting 😅 hopefully your school isn't strict about nipping out of class. Mine are pretty good. Not sure how to deal with the bad stomachs that may happen though 😬

RobinVenetia · 24/08/2025 23:31

I'm dithering over ordering MJ or waiting until after Friday, as I have a call with my GP to review my medication and could ask their opinion then... don't think I qualify for WLI under the NHS sadly, but it would be useful to get their viewpoint!

I was actually approved by Oushk mid-July but we were off to visit family shortly after that, so I thought I'd wait till we got home before I ordered any. Of course, the family visit went on a bit longer than planned (almost two weeks in the end) and by the time we got home, the news had hit about the price rises! Now I'm confused about whether to even start if the costs will quickly go above what I can afford Confused

@Hungrycaterpillarsmummy I'm sure it's a beautiful photo and your DC will love having it in years to come! Honestly, I wish there were more of me with my DC, but when they were small (and I was thinner) DP never took any, and now I'm too embarrassed to take any Blush I have maybe 5 1/2 st to lose, much the same as @Chopsy123.

@WhiteAmaryllis and @MoreIcedLattePlease - I'm back working at school soon too - was hoping to have this WLI and eating regime cracked by now, but sadly not!!

Did my first jab 2 hours ago!
I didn't fancy the idea of injecting myself, but the needle is super fine, so I felt nothing.

ladygin · 25/08/2025 08:20

Hello All, I’ve had one jab, second is due today. I was one of the unfortunate ones who has had horrid side effects including actually being sick (once but full on). The nausea for me has been constant but manageable. It’s a weird feeling not wanting to eat but for me has worn off in the last couple of days-
maybe as I get nearer jab day?

Sorry to hear that. I’m sure it’s not true but I do also sympathise- just back from two weeks away - something of a once in a lifetime trip - and there isn’t a single photo with me in it that I’d be happy to share or put in a photobook etc 🙄

Bloody hell this sounds like no way to live

hope wears off soon

OneDayIWillLearn · 25/08/2025 10:39

@ladygin how are you managing the nausea if you don’t mind me asking? That’s probably my biggest fear in terms of side effects. Oh and hair loss!

ladygin · 25/08/2025 11:29

@Returnofjude Well day one and two where there and weirdly once I’d been sick it eased. I wonder if having a clear stomach the day before might of helped. I do think I am quite gastro sensitive as well. However sipping water and eating little and often kept the nausea at bay. You won’t know if it’s going to affect you until you try.

twilightcafe · 25/08/2025 14:34

So ... Day 1 is under way.
This is crazy. I am just Not Hungry. No appetite. The thought of my next meal is just not in my head.

outofofficeagain · 25/08/2025 14:42

Are you doing the jabs at night or in the morning? Is there a fatigue vs nausea trade off?

I started in June. I would say you want more protein and fewer carbs. And something a bit more substantial nutrient wise than a pot of cottage cheese!

I have Greek yogurt (full fat) and fruit for breakfast- raspberries and pumpkin seeds or peaches.

For lunch I have a salad of some sort with protein (chicken, feta, egg) or a protein bagel and egg and salmon.

For tea I have protein and veg, salmon, fish, chicken, steak and roast veg or salad. Sometimes some baby potatoes. Mediterranean diet really. I don’t really have pasta or rice, if I do small portions and most of meal is protein and veg.

Yellowsubmarine55 · 25/08/2025 14:56

I'm a March starter so gatecrashing 😆. Just wanted to say good luck to all, exciting times and I echo the above food advice.

Focus on protein and fibre as constipation can be an issue. No need to eliminate carbs as I haven't - I eat brown everything except rice as it's grim. Protein bagel, sandwich thin or just plain wholemeal bread/pittas will be your best friend for lunches.

But a word of warning, it'll bankrupt you in new clothes but fingers crossed you'll feel fantastic. I know I do at 3st 6lb down all on 2.5 as well so no pressure to increase dose if it's working for you 🙂

ithinkilikethislittlelife · 25/08/2025 15:00

I started mid jan and I am so excited for all the new starters. Personally I had some nausea when I first started taking mounjaro but as time went on and my body got used to it this has settled down. I’ve only gone up to 5 and really wish I’d stayed at 2.5 as the suppression was there but you live and learn. Food wise I pretty much eat the same but I don’t snack as I don’t think about food now unlike before when I was always nibbling. And trust your body when it tells you you’re full. If you keep eating you will feel so stuffed it’s uncomfortable. Portion size has dropped dramatically. I started it with my husband and we have lost stones. Him nearly 6 and me 3. I’ve gone from a size 14 to a 10. It’s an absolute game changer and I feel so good about myself now as does my dh. It’s bloody lovely going swimming with the kids and feeling like you “blend” into the crowd rather than stand out and feeling awkward and uncomfortable in yourself. The only downside, and this is genuine, is the cost of new clothes. We have had buy almost all new. Even underwear as my boobs have also shrunk. Worse problems to have though. Oh, and my high blood pressure is now back to normal so I have ditched my medication for that. Good luck all.
