Anybody else planning to start in September?

I’ve been procrastinating for months but decided to go for it despite the price increases. Waiting for my delivery from Medexpress and planning on 1st Sept start.

I haven’t been holding it. Have I been doing it wrong 😬

Everything i've read and watched has said to hold it for atleast 5 seconds. I count to about 7ish. Think its to make sure its all been injected.

That’ll teach me not to read instructions properly, or I read them the first week and then forgot.

maybe explains why suppression has been low this week.

Hi all :-)
I started yesterday Tue 16th and took my first jab at 10pm. Been putting it off for weeks as I have a huge anxiety about starting new meds.
I didn’t sleep too well last night due to getting myself in an anxious state about it but I had no actually side effects during the night.
I thought I’d wake up feeling ill but no side effects yet, no suppression yet either, I know some people wake up with instant suppression but that hasn’t happened for me although I appreciate it’s only been 9 hours.
Anyway sorry to ramble on a bit but I wanted to share my story so far as it may help someone else who is anxious about starting like I was.

SnowWhiteisMyFavourite · 17/09/2025 07:29

This week is a struggle for me! W3D5 now and suppression is gone. I’m aiming 1500 cal per day but feeling hungry between meals. Same lunch from last week doesn’t fill me up. Not sure how I’m going to make it to Saturday. I’m thinking to jab either tomorrow or Friday. Good news is that constipation is not an issue at the moment. I added an extra spoon of chia seeds to my daily intake, not sure if that has helped.

If your pen is at the line on the glass then it must have all gone in. Once its all the way down, surely it's pushed everything it needs to out, I wouldnt worry too much :)

outofofficeagain · 17/09/2025 07:38

That’s what I thought @JustPickleRick. I’ll wait this week just in case.

@SnowWhiteisMyFavouriteI’m the same. Feeling like I have a normal appetite this week. However I am finding it easier knowing I just have to get to Monday, and then another week til I can up the dose, rather than ‘oh my God this is it forever’

Hi All! I have been lurking here for weeks with my pen happily sitting in the fridge. A mixture of reasons why I haven’t ‘taken the plunge’ yet, from family gatherings to the most recent which is a very heavy cold and chest infection 🙁. I have realised though that my mood is steadily getting more and more down as I feel I need to get on with this and stop procrastinating about meals out, illness and the most dreaded possible side effects.
mu question for you all, do u inject using the pen straight out of the fridge or should I wait for it to warm up? Does it make any difference?

Hi, I took mine out of the fridge for 15 mins before injecting as I read it can be more uncomfortable to inject cold liquid

UnimaginableWindBird · 17/09/2025 08:00

I do mine straight out of the fridge (plus all the time spent faffing around with needles and alcohol wipes). I don't feel the injection at all.

I've just signed up for sessions with a personal trainer at my gym, to teach me how to lift weights properly. I'm not sure if she will have availability at convenient times, but I'm really looking forward to getting back into exercise again, and the price was a lot less than I was steeling myself for.

ladygin · 17/09/2025 08:33

Morning All. So side effect update for going up to 5mg. So far I’ve been very sleepy and a bit of nausea so nothing to grim.

Also my pharmacist said you don’t need to keep it in the fridge as long as it doesnot go above 30 degrees where it is stored. Does everyone keep it in the fridge?

Chopsy123 · 17/09/2025 09:26

I do mine straight out of the fridge. There’s so little liquid that I don’t think you’d notice if it was almost frozen. 😂

From my previous experience of MJ, the latter days were always hungrier days because of the 5 day half life. Sometimes it only “worked” the first 3 days. I gave myself the mindset that it was similar to the 5:2 diet and that 3-4 days out of the week was better than nothing at all, if that makes sense? So if I ate 1,200 calories 4 days a week, and 2,000 the other 3, then it’s still a deficit. You can jab a day early, I’ve heard of lots of people doing this, although your prescriber won’t advise this!

Technically, according to the leaflet that came with my Mounjaro pen, it states leave it for at least 30 minutes after removing from the fridge. Not sure why though!

I was obviously being too complacent after my explosive upset tummy on Sunday and the dreaded diarrhea is back this morning! My tummy is not grumbling though so hopefully it won’t be as bad and I’m trying not to take Imodium as I don’t think it helps long term. I am going to avoid eating for as long as possible though to help settle things, just plenty of water.

At least my initial weight loss should be good!

@ladygin no I don’t, I keep mine in the top drawer behind my pants and bras!

The only reason they say you should take the pen out of the fridge is for comfort. I didn’t and it was fine. I don’t think the amount of mj in each injection is high enough to make a difference.

Hi :) I also started yesterday along with my husband. He's had immediate effect. Was very nauseous last night after eating a small chewy sweet and he's been in and out of the bathroom all morning needing a wee. The only thing I have is really heavy fatigue that could have kept me sleeping all morning if was able to. No appetite suppression yet for me. One odd and welcome reaction is my dulled taste buds since I had covid in 2023 appear to have woken up again.

Georgelassosthemoon · 17/09/2025 14:46

Feeling ill today. It feels more like a virus than the impact of the jab. I was off colour at my volunteering role yesterday - it’s very physical - and I didn’t have my usual energy and had to sit down quite a few times.

Whichwitchwould · 17/09/2025 16:26

I took jab #4 last night. Loss to date (3weeks) 10.75lbs.

I am not reading into appetite suppression too much, provided the weight loss is coming. I lost almost twice as much this week as the week before and on paper ate more, but it was better quality food. I wouldnt say my appetite was very suppressed at mealtimes etc, I just had less food noise in between meals.

Im gonna stick to 2.5mg until the losses slow way way down.

Atalosswhat2do · 17/09/2025 17:04

hi everyone,

I started last Thursday 11th Sep.

So far I haven’t had any rubbish side effects. The appetite suppression was instant for me which was a bit of a weird feeling to get used to, I usually only eat one meal per day, and then ate junk, so this week has been about aiming for 3 meals per day and no junk food.

I Still have lots to learn, but definitely feeling optimistic.

Starting Weight: 12st 3lb
Target Weight: 9st 7lb

I currently have high Blood Pressure, high cholesterol and pre diabetes, so a reduction in those are one of my main target alongside my weight loss.

SnowWhiteisMyFavourite · 17/09/2025 19:12

@TealTraybake1 did you notice the same even with the higher doses? Ie suppression disappearing by day 5-7? I’m due to order my next pen and I will order 5mg but now debating if I should continue to take 2.5mg but every 6 days if needed or go up to 3.75mg for a few weeks and then increase to 5mg. Reading through different threads and people doing so many different combos 😄

what are everyone’s thoughts about moving up to 5mg? @outofofficeagain are you going up straight to 5mg? @ladygin how are you feeling today after the first 5mg jab?

TealTraybake1 · 17/09/2025 19:15

@SnowWhiteisMyFavourite yeah same with each dose. I was told by others that I just hadn’t find the correct dose for me but the suppression on the higher doses on those first few days were insane, barely getting a few hundred calories so I just think I’m one of those people that it works well half the time, I’ll take that though!

Pleased you’re not suffering and have had some positives. I’m still not really suffering any side effects apart from some joint pain although I don’t know if that’s jab related. I found more suppression has come over the day, I’m hungry but not interested in food. Ate small portions but it was a struggle to eat.
Hope the rest of the week goes well for you

Pinkbox · 17/09/2025 20:05

Found the right thread at last! I collected my first prescription today and plan to inject tonight after I have put kids to bed. I have been nervous all day but am happy to give this a try. I figure I can stop if it doesn’t agree with me. Apart from the needle stuff, my main fear is getting constipation as I already have issues going to the loo after a traumatic birth. I am hoping that my family see a different me at Christmas 🎄

Hello well end of day two of 5mg and nothing terrible to report on side effects. Supression good and mainly tired and that’s it. Feel a bit energised which is nice.

the reason I went up was that 2.5 was okay but not brilliant. I am a rule follower and that’s the way it was designed. But I hope to stay on 5mg for a while and will do so unless it’s stops working.

the 2,5 got less effective for me in food noise and I started haveing booze and chocolate more easily.

to make 5mg work I really need to start doing the emotional and habit forming work.
