outofofficeagain · 23/08/2025 11:19

Anybody else planning to start in September?

I’ve been procrastinating for months but decided to go for it despite the price increases. Waiting for my delivery from Medexpress and planning on 1st Sept start.

@Pinkbox I had similar symptoms with my first jab, horrible headaches and desperate tiredness within a few hrs and they subsided after about 2 days or so. I also struggled to eat more than about 500 calories for the first few days.

The second week, I had another bad headache and some tiredness but this went within about 24 hrs. After my 3rd jab last week, I had zero side effects but still felt the suppression. I managed to eat better but still staying within my 1400cal daily allowance.

It will be my 4th jab later today so I’ll report back tomorrow.

UnimaginableWindBird · 19/09/2025 09:54

Weigh-in and jab day today.

Progress so far:
Start Weight: 211 lbs, BMI 34.1
1st Goal Weight: 190 lbs (10% bodyweight loss)
Current Weight: 205.2 lbs, BMI 33.1

Mounjaro, 2.5
Week 1: -1.4 lb
Week 2: -4.4 lb

anon2022anon · 19/09/2025 09:54

@Pinkbox for my first little while I didn't concentrate on anything like protein goals, calories, hitting meal times- I just went with how my body was feeling and went with that. You're feeling ill, 2 weeks of eating what you want when you want is not going to lead to muscle loss. Pretty soon, your body is going to be a bit more used to this new thing you've put in it, and it will be a bit easier to make proper decisions.

SoUncertain · 18/09/2025 09:03

@jigsawmeup I always sleep very deeply, so haven't noticed much difference really. Hope the 5mg pen works much better for you!

Thanks @GLP1Girl! How have you got on with it so far?

My updates are that I have told a couple of family members now and they've been really supportive, which is so nice.

Also I ate a bit of junk last night as we were running very late for dinner and felt rubbish afterwards. Mainly slightly nauseous, and this morning I was much groggier than normal and felt rubbish until I ate a bit of breakfast. So I can confirm it's definitely not worth it!

@SoUncertain great thanks - cholesterol back in the normal range, off my BP meds and fitting in clothes that I bought last century! 🤣. I’ve lost 24kg on 5mg or less. Happy for you all to have started. It’s life-changing

namechange0998776554799000 · 19/09/2025 13:55

First jab yesterday. Felt quite nauseous last night and this morning but eating helped (Weetabix this morning and chicken & egg rice for lunch). The only other side effect so far is that I had a really sleepless night, is that common?

Also, can anyone recommend supplements/electrolyte drinks/protein shakes? Now I'm tracking my meals I'm realising how much I'm going to struggle to get the right nutrients and I'm definitely going to need to top up. My biggest worry is that any sort of vitamin tablets have made me nauseous in the past so I'm a bit reluctant to start them now...

wodantimbercoaster · 19/09/2025 16:37

I'm now 2 full weeks in and took jab number 3 last night. So far, my only side effects have been a bit of a headache the day after injecting and a bit of a dry mouth. Appetite suppression is definitely strong the first couple of days, I struggled to finish my Huel shake at lunchtime today and I don't eat breakfast, so that was the first thing I'd had all day other than a coffee and some water. I have found hunger pangs definitely return from about day 5 onwards, but nothing I can't manage. I down 11lbs in two weeks so I am very pleased overall. I just hope things carry on like this. I think I will almost certainly stick to 2.5mg doses for longer than a month as it's working so far and I want to try and stay on as low a dose as possible for as long as possible.

I started Tuesday night and haven’t slept well since, not sleepless nights but I keep waking up in the night and super early, was awake at 4am this morning and couldn’t get back to sleep.

I’ve been using the my protein meal replacement powder. It’s helping me get some protein and vitamins and minerals where I’m struggling to eat much proper food.

jigsawmeup · 19/09/2025 19:13

@namechange0998776554799000I've had some terrible sleep recently. It's often worse on the day I inject. I have no problem falling asleep, but if anything disturbs me, once I'm awake, I'm awake! My plan is to avoid caffeine on jab day, make sure I've had a decent meal (as hunger def makes it worse) and take extra magnesium. I have some unflavored Keto Pro electrolytes that I use every now and again left over from my keto days.

jigsawmeup · 19/09/2025 19:21

I think I have finally felt some suppression today! (took 4th jab 2 days ago). I wasn't hungry for lunch after having a very early breakfast and found myself having to really slow down and think about what I was eating. Fingers crossed this might mean I start seeing some changes on the scales!

Absolutelycluelesss · 19/09/2025 19:50

I’ve done it! Pictures taken, measurements taken first injection done. 🙈. I must admit I didn’t actually feel it. So much so I thought I’d not done it 🙈🙈. Praying that I don’t have horrendous side effects.

Kazzaa46 · 19/09/2025 20:05

@Absolutelycluelesss I was the same when I jabbed on Tuesday, was convinced I hadn’t done it properly 😆
Fingers crossed on the side effects. I expected to feel awful but I’ve not really had any so hopefully you’re lucky like I’ve been and I’m generally the sort of person who gets ill off meds!

MoreIcedLattePlease · 19/09/2025 20:30

Well done, @Absolutelycluelesss - so glad you took the plunge! (Pardon the pun). I am still never sure I've done it properly, but I also never think about food anymore so I must be?!

I used the final dose of my 2.5mg pen last night and after working myself up over how difficult and horrible it would be, it was just as fine as the other doses! In some ways it was a bit easier to be honest. The needle was slightly longer, but it didn't make any difference to how it felt when injecting.

I stuck with 2.5mg again, as I'm still finding it works exactly as I'd like. I am rarely hungry and the food noise is gone. Juniper sent me out a 5mg pen this week, so I'll be using half doses until I feel I need to titrate up. I will probably go up to 3.75 initially, as I've responded so well to this low dose that I'm reluctant to move up too quickly and risk hefty side effects.

Weigh day tomorrow - I'm hoping to reach my first stone off milestone.

It's lovely to hear how everyone else is getting on - so much success!

Whichwitchwould · 19/09/2025 20:59

@moreicedlatteplease ahh well done you! Was that the golden dose you were doing? I have spooked myself out of doing it.

I was hoping to get to the 1 stone off mark (currently just under 11lb down after 3 weeks) but my weight loss seems a bit op and down. W1 5.25lbs, W2 1.75lbs, W3 3.75lbs and then this week no loss so far. I am wondering what bearing injection site plays. I have been alternating left and right, but right is yielding lesser results 🤔

Chopsy123 · 19/09/2025 21:19

I’ve done my 4th injection today but I’m wondering if I did it right as there seems quite a bit of liquid left in the pen??

Anyone else think it looks like a lot left over? 😳

Ihateslugs · 19/09/2025 21:51

Thank goodness no ill effects today! I took my second dose today and made a stupid error which meant I had to jab twice. I primed the pen no problem but then injected without turning the dial to 1! Luckily I realised straight away and did it properly the next time. Still didn’t feel a think, I’ve now jabbed in my tummy and thigh.

I ate pretty normally today ending with a chicken salad followed by dessert of a little Greek yogurt with frozen fruits for dinner. I tried to work out my calories but I could not accurately work out the calories in my salad so estimated on the high side. I consumed around 1350 to 1450 cals I think. This is very similar to what I have been eating over the past three months before I started on WLIs when I lost almost 1 1/2 stone.

Quick question - what is the recommended calorie intake I should be aiming for? Also, how will I get rid of my sharps box eventually? I assume I cannot just put it in my dustbin!

I have to say that apart from nasty side effects, I have not noticed any other changes since starting last week, I was quite hungry today after two days of not really eating due to diarrhoea but was able to use will power to resist eating too much so no food suppression. I don’t really know what food noise is but my thoughts about eating have not changed. I got used to eating less and not craving food while on my recent diet.

Kazzaa46 · 20/09/2025 07:07

@Ihateslugs there are some online calculators that you can use to pop in your details and it will give you the calories needed to lose weight based on your age/height/weight etc. here’s one example- https://www.calculator.net/tdee-calculator.html

With the sharps bin, some pharmacies will take them or the council, but they differ but you can check your council website to see what services they provide.

Are you currently on 2.5? My colleague had all the side effects on this dose and no suppression, she didn’t get suppression until she went to 5mg but I know if you do feel rough on it sometimes that’s the last thing you want to do 🙈

TDEE Calculator

This calculator estimates the Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE) of a person based on their age, physical characteristics, and activity level.

Chopsy123 · 20/09/2025 08:31

Took my fourth dose yesterday afternoon and weighed this morning and I’ve lost a paltry 1lb this week.

SW - 14st 12lbs
CW - 14st 2.5lbs

I’m still keeping within my calorie allowance (1400) but probably not drinking enough water. Weirdly, I used to drink a lot more water in the evenings but I think the suppression has also stopped me feeling thirsty, so I’ll have to keep a better track and make myself drink a glass every couple of hours.

Thankfully, no side effects from these last two doses. 👌

I thought that too! I did my last dose last night and its a whole other dose and a bit left! I wasn't considering doing the golden dose but if I can get it to turn, I don't see why I shouldn't. Only thing i'm concerned about is it will be a higher dose then i'll be going back to 2.5 the week after. Wondering if my body will need more of a dose after using it 🤔

Did my weigh in this morning anyway after my 4th dose. Another 2lbs down :)

SW: 12 stone 9
CW: 11 stone 4

19lbs gone so far 🥳

Chopsy123 · 20/09/2025 08:41

Congratulations on your amazing weight loss so far @JustPickleRick. That’s incredible!

I’ve been watching a few videos about using the skinny Insulin syringes to extract the final dose so I think I might buy some from Amazon and try that, rather than try turning the pen as I’m worried I might break it. 😳

SnowWhiteisMyFavourite · 20/09/2025 09:44

Good morning everyone! Congratulations to everyone on your weight loss this week, whether your progress was big or small, every step counts! As someone said, this is a marathon, not a sprint.

My update for W4D1

SW 19st 3lbs
CW 18st 2lbs
GW1 15st
GW2 13st
Last week -2lbs, total 15lbs!

This week has been a struggle. Suppression wore off middle of the week so it’s been down to willpower to stay away from the fridge 😄 I also jabbed a day earlier (yesterday), which is fine as I was hoping to move my jab day to Friday, hopefully even to Thursday. I have ordered 5mg pen so in case I get side effects, I will have a few days to get over those before going to office.

Target calorie intake now 1400-1500. I’m doing exercise bike most of the days for 15-30mins and trying to bank these calories.

I haven’t told anyone that I’m on mounjaro, will wait until husband notices any weight loss and I will tell him then. So far no comments 😂 Has anyone noticed any changes in their body yet? My stomach area feels “lighter” but I dont think the clothes have got any looser yet. However my rings feel a bit looser.

As per several other people, I also have lot of liquid left after the 4th dose so I will definitely take the golden dose as 5th dose before moving up.

MoreIcedLattePlease · 20/09/2025 10:07

Congrats, @JustPickleRick that's an amazing loss!

@Chopsy123 and others, yes: the leftover after the 4th dose is the 'golden' dose and it is more than a usual dose. I wouldn't buy syringes on Amazon, personally, I ordered from here: https://ukmedi.co.uk/products/fms-micro-syringe-32g-8mm-1ml-fms-fms-32g-10ml-ukmedi-co-uk and bought alcohol wipes too, it cost me around £15 delivered and they were very efficient. I figured if I only use this dose once a month, £15 for a year was very reasonable! It was super easy as you can draw out and inject without changing the needle with these. They were recommended on the other MJ threads here. I considered using a bit more than 2.5mg (0.6ml) but decided not to in the end, as 2.5mg is still working fine so I didn't want to rock the boat. I drew out as much as possible, then 'primed' by pushing the excess back out. Also - 1lb off is better than 1lb on! You're doing great. Smile

@SnowWhiteisMyFavourite - great loss for you too, well done!

I weighed this morning and I've lost 3.5lb this week. Very pleased with that as evens out the 1.5lb I was a bit disappointed with last week. My period is just coming to an end today though, so I'm thinking that might explain the sluggish pace before?

So, SW: 19st 1lb Blush
CW: 17st 13lb
GW: 11st 7lb (for now, we'll see how I feel about that once I get there).

Current total loss: 16lb in 4 weeks. Not to be sniffed at!

I swam 750m this week, and did 30 mins of pilates last night, which hurts now! Hoping to do 1.5km of swimming (over 2 sessions) next week, so we'll see how it goes. I've been utterly shattered this week. Not sure if its MJ related or not, but my sleep has been very disturbed and I've found being so tired affected my mood. Having a relaxed weekend though, so hopefully it'll give me time to reset before work again next week.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend!

I went up to 5mg last week as my loss on 2.5mg was starting to stall. The main side effect I am having is nausea and it’s not very pleasant. I had it on the lower dose too. I think I’ll stick at 5mg for a couple of months to see if it will settle. I’m pleased with the suppression and the weight loss though.

anon2022anon · 20/09/2025 13:11

For all of those moving up to 5mg (or buying the 5mg pen regardless), I can highly recommend Pillsorted.
There's a code on monj.co.uk for £40 off. If you use that code to buy a year's membership, that gives you £75 off your first pen- just add them to basket together. I've just got the 5mg pen for £142 delivered. I paid on Thursday, did the video check thing yesterday afternoon, it was posted last night and it's arrived this morning. Feels like a good deal, and so fast compared to the 3 weeks e surgery made me wait.

Fantastic results so far! 👏

I can't say I feel any different yet, I carry all my weight on my stomach (I resemble Winnie the Pooh 😂) and its still just there staring at me 😐 I imagine that will be the last thing to go! I think i'm going to start going swimming again this week so that will hopefully help.
