Anybody else planning to start in September?

I’ve been procrastinating for months but decided to go for it despite the price increases. Waiting for my delivery from Medexpress and planning on 1st Sept start.

I did my first dose tonight and delighted to report that it was nowhere near as scary, complicated or unpleasant as i had built it up to be 🥳

Edited

Thats a relief! Im going to start on Friday evening, im actually looking forward to taking it to just get going with the whole thing!
I've put in a request with asda for my next pen, went for 2.5mg again. The approval time is crazy though, its saying approved by the 10th/11th september 🤯

MoreIcedLattePlease · 27/08/2025 11:20

I'm using Juniper. With a code (from the MN thread - where you can find mine, please!) it was £114 for 2.5mg. They also sent scales & a tape measure. Very handy as I didn't have either. Find the app very helpful too!

BPrincess · 27/08/2025 12:20

@MoreIcedLattePlease where is the MN thread with codes please? Sorry I'm new on here (well, it's been about 14 years, since I had my DD!) And how long did you have to wait for your first pen?

I signed up on a Friday, the consultation took place on Sunday (I wasn't expecting that at all!), pen was delivered on the Tuesday, but I didn't have the first dose until Thursday due to wanting to jab that day for maximum weekend suppression and minimal work day side effects. They have been brilliant. The code thread is here, https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/weight-loss-promo-codes/5233038-juniper-weightloss-discount-codes?page=3&reply=146687516 and there are others after mine if you don't like me and don't want to use mine! Grin I received £75 off my first order and £25 off the second, which will be 5mg unless I tell them otherwise, and delivered in September at current pricing (discounted though).

Aside from me talking about Juniper specifically, I will say I can feel the hunger today. It was creeping in yesterday, but easily ignored as I was busy. Today I'm at home most of the day, certainly all afternoon now, and the urge to snack is strong! It's jab day tomorrow (evening), so I think I've done well to have the suppression this long for my first ever jab? I'm still sticking to calories today, but it's definitely taking much more willpower.

How are the other people who've snuck a dose in pre-September feeling? Hope nobody is suffering from nasty side effects!

Whichwitchwould · 27/08/2025 14:23

I woke up with a bit of nausea today but not as bad as I anticipated. I was expecting morning sickness type (which i feared as my morning sickness was wild) but it has been more like amoxicillan-on-an-empty-stomach type nausea. Doable.

Appetite suppression has been very strong on day 1 so far, but still able to eat my meals albeit slowly. Im hoping to stay on a lower dose as long as possible so quite pleased that it has started acting straight away.

OneDayIWillLearn · 27/08/2025 14:37

I told my husband this morning I’m planning to go on WLI. Glad to have it off my chest! He’s a bit worried about side effects but was overall supportive.

Got my second attempt at a weight verification call with Oushk this evening so really hoping that goes better than yesterday and I can get my first delivery on Monday.

Reading your posts is making me want to get on with it!

Absolutelycluelesss · 27/08/2025 14:55

My pen arrived this morning but my anxiety about side effects is another level so much so last night I thought I’ll just return it when it arrives 🙈

WhiteAmaryllis · 27/08/2025 15:25

@Absolutelycluelesss The side effects for me so far (jabbed Sunday am) have been very manageable. Slight headache in the evening and a mild nausea-like feeling the next day. I say 'like' because it was just a dull sensation that could be ignored, not the sort of waves that make you feel awful and like you need to lie down. I had some anti-emetics ready (because I'd had some problems with vomiting earlier this year) but didn't need them.

Definitely been able to eat less without the effort or willpower it usually takes and also see that I just need much less than I'm used to. It's not so much that I'm not hungry, but I can cope and wait until a meal time and there's none of that impatient anticipation of when the food will be ready, even though I'm in a calorie deficit.

And I wouldn't say I've stopped thinking about food (completely thought I knew what people meant by 'food noise', but it turns out I don't know if I'm experiencing the same thing??), because I'm still at this early stage constantly analysing whether I want it, but I'm learning to leave it until I need if and stop when I've had enough.

I was also terrified about this! But I can honestly say, they have been minimal. Headache yesterday, but I was also out all day without my emotional support Stanley cup, so very dehydrated I think.
Also, some very mild constipation, easily fixed by more careful meal/snack planning.

I also agree with @WhiteAmaryllis about the 'food noise' thing - if anything I've thought about food more, but not because I want it. In fact, thinking of specific foods makes me feel a bit icky! But I think, maybe even as some sort of odd psychological thing, I've been overanalysing what I can eat/do want, because I wasn't sure if the MJ was doing its thing? Now it's been a few days, I can see it is, and that overthinking is slowing down quite a bit. I'm a huge overthinker about everything though!

It took me 48 hours to work up the courage to do the jab, but I'm so glad I did. I'm not a fan of needles, but I didn't feel it at all. Perks of fat thighs for a while I guess!

UnimaginableWindBird · 27/08/2025 15:48

I was going to start on 5th September, but I just got a message that my pen is being dispatched today, so I might start this Friday instead. I might go to the pharmacy after work and stock up on medicines for side-effects, just in case. I'm not sure what to get, though. I get, something for diarrhoea, something for constipation, and some peppermint oil capsules.

Is there anything else that anyone would recommend?

UnimaginableWindBird · 27/08/2025 15:49

Also, going on morning sickness experience, some Tena pads in case of vomiting :-(

This is really good to know thank you for sharing! How were the side affects? I have an interview next wed and not sure wether to wait until after incase of side effects

Sorry just read the rest of the posts and realised you have already said 😂

Whichwitchwould · 27/08/2025 16:05

I really hope everyone in this thread us side effect free!

For me it really hasn't been bad. The mild nausea i mentioned, plus the sulphur burps that I've heard people talk about. Neither have been bad at all. Just give it a go, you'll be fine!

It's like an out of body experience seeing your ingrained habits though. Found myself at the biscuit tin on my coffee break out of pure habit and then thought not only do I not want this, but i'm full. Not like me to turn down a biscuit. Who is she? 😂

Absolutelycluelesss · 27/08/2025 16:30

Thanks @MoreIcedLattePlease I know I’m over thinking it and to be honest the indecisiveness it’s driving me mad. I work in a school, and I’m terrified that I’m going to get awful sickness and/or diarrhoea and be in the middle of a lesson 🙈🙈🙈

Absolutelycluelesss · 27/08/2025 16:33

Thanks @WhiteAmaryllis can I ask where you injected as I’ve heard mixed things about tummy vs thighs lol. I suppose nobody knows how they’re going to react until they take it….

I put off starting the injections for weeks because I was so worried about side effects, but it hasn't been bad at all (although it's only day 3).I have had some mild headaches, a suggestion of heartburn and had to put a jumper on last night, but that's about it. I haven't slept well but not sure if that's Mounjaro or menopause.
I haven't felt any kind of appetite suppression yet though.

It's so hard not knowing. I think I've only just relaxed today thinking I'm in the middle of the week, so if I've been okay up til now, it's probably going to be fine.

I picked thigh (simply so I could sit and press down, rather than have to lie down or do it horizontally towards me, if that makes sense). I've since read anecdotal posts saying this gives lower suppression and fewer side effects than otherwise, but everything official seems to say there should be no difference.

anon2022anon · 27/08/2025 20:53

Day 2 finishing here, I ended up jabbing on Monday night, but while already ill. Went for the thigh.
Yesterday I was off food all day, but was feeling really quite badly with cold/flu anyway, so could have been that. I didn't feel not hungry, but just...meh about food. Had heartburn last night, and woke up middle of the night with quite horrible chest pains that could have been strong heartburn, or the start of a chest infection.

Day 2 today and I've definitely felt hungrier. I've had a smaller than usual portion at dinner, but finished it all no problem, and could eat a slice of toast now.

I've ordered 2 5mg pens from different chemists today. If I find that I get enough suppression from this I'm thinking of stepping up to 3.75 with the next one, then 5, save a bit of money.

MoreIcedLattePlease · 28/08/2025 10:35

Weigh day - and jab day - today. I have lost 7lbs! I'm very happy with that. Haven't felt deprived, have still had a small chocolate every evening. I know non-MJ me would never be able to quit chocolate, so I'm trying to start better habits with it.

I definitely feel more 'normal' today, but it's tipping it down here, so I'm having a cleaning day. Back to work next week, so best done before the weekend blues hit.

How is everyone else getting on? September on Monday!

UnimaginableWindBird · 28/08/2025 11:09

My pen has arrived! I have been dithering about whether to jab tomorrow or on Friday 5th September as I originally planned. I think I'll stick to the plan, to give myself time to get my head around everything, have some easy to eat high protein and fiber food around and have the house clean in case I feel rubbish after I start.

twilightcafe · 28/08/2025 11:29

I did my first jab on Sunday night. Can't believe how unbothered I am about food. I am not even peckish. Still having three smaller meals a day but no urge to snack.
The only downside so far is constipation. I'm taking magnesium to see if it helps. I know I need to up my fibre as well.

Could I ask which providers you contacted for your 5mg pens? I am thinking about putting in a last minute order before the price increases.

anon2022anon · 28/08/2025 11:39

@jigsawmeup e- surgery and drip me up- haven't used either of them before, but found discount codes for both so gave them a try, paid £116 & £127.
