September 25 starters

Anybody else planning to start in September?

I’ve been procrastinating for months but decided to go for it despite the price increases. Waiting for my delivery from Medexpress and planning on 1st Sept start.

Aargh! First dose done. 👏

It took me about 30 seconds to actually jab the needle into my tummy area as I was feeling pretty anxious as I really hate needles, but reminded myself that I hate being fat much more. 😱

Now I’m worrying if it went in properly as there’s no blood on the skin surface. 😳

I was going to take it tonight but then panicked that if I had a bad reaction, I’d be struggling to get any medical help on a Friday night. We live 90 mins away from nearest A&E and DH doesn’t drive. Gave myself another talking to and decided to stop procrastinating and “let’s get this done!”

I’ll report back later this evening on how I felt during today. Friday is a main food shopping day so I need to make a list.

Goodness I’m impressed by how quickly you were able to get it! Which provider are you using? I placed my order with Oushk over a week ago and I’m still waiting to successfully complete a weight verification call. If the one I’ve got booked for today doesn’t work (third time lucky!) I think I’m going to try and get them to refund me and I’ll try another provider.

Reading everyone’s posts on here this week has got me raring to go and I don’t think I can wait much longer to start!!

Hi,
In my research I found a comparison website (click compare mounjaro) and there were 2 selling 2.5mg for £120.

I chose Ashcroft Pharmacy because it offered the option to buy two 2.5mg pens.

I plan on switching providers to buy it for the cheapest price... why pay more than I need to?

Absolutelycluelesss · 29/08/2025 06:41

Welcome @maz99 well done. Hoping you don’t suffer many side effects. You’re a lot braver than me. I’ve had my pen in the fridge for the last few days - I’m just not brave enough to do it I’m terrified of side effects. 🙈

Thanks...!

I think I knew that I would also put if off if I didn't do it as soon as possible.

There are a couple of good videos I watched on how to do it... have you watched any?

OneDayIWillLearn · 29/08/2025 10:33

@maz99 thanks. I also looked on monj and went for the one that was cheapest with the highest trust pilot ratings. But this was before all the pricing changes - I’ve been away a lot so it took me a while to complete all the info they needed and I suspect things have changed now. Frustrating to have decided to go for it and not be able to actually get the stuff though (especially as I’ve paid for it!).

Morning. I'm teetering on the edge of going for it. I am obese and ideally have 4.5 stone to lose. I haven't taken the plunge yet as im worried about the price rising to be honest but I absolutely need to do this for my health. I know what I need to do diet wise and plan to join my local leisure centre. I have really suffered with food noise so have never been able to stick to a good diet long term and I'm hoping this will be the key to helping me adopt and maintain healthier eating habits.
Where is everyone getting it from?

Catladyof7 · 28/08/2025 22:58

How long was delivery please and was the pen still cold ?
Thanks

Hello,

I signed up on a Friday evening, the consultation conversation went back and forth on the Sunday. My delivery arrived on Tuesday. I was out all day at work, so it stayed in the box until 6pm. Was still very much cold when I opened it!

I really rate them and, with the new price rises everywhere, I don't think they're as expensive as others now. Do feel free to dig out my code from the referral thread if you'd like £75 off your first order. (No pressure though, do what works for you)!

Have a look at monj.co.uk - they list all the providers, stock levels and also updated September pricing. I went with Juniper, as I was so nervous and wanted the additional support through their app etc, rather than just the medication. I can't guarantee I'll stay with them forever, I will need to shop around to afford the higher doses, but I've been impressed with them so far.

Most places do still seem to have 2.5mg pens, so you should have lots of choice of provider.

@Absolutelycluelesss I hate needles, really hate them, but the way the needles on the pens work means you can hardly even see it - certainly not when injecting (for me, anyway). I also couldn't feel it, and the only sign it had 'worked' was the liquid not being all over me/the bed and a tiny bruise which came up a few hours later. I've not had blood at the injection site either time, but I have used a cotton pad to apply light pressure immediately after removing the needle from the skin, not sure if that's why? I promise the anticipation is worse than the reality! Watch a video of how to do it, then just bite the bullet. Once you've done the first, the rest will feel so much easier.

maz99 · 29/08/2025 11:04

I'm obese too and according to BMI chart I have approx. 8 stone to lose to get to a BMI of 24 😫😧😮

I got mine from Ashcroft Pharmacy because I wanted the cheapest price. But if you want personal support & guidance, then there are Juniper, Oushk, SheMed & others that offer that... but there are more expensive

I felt exactly the same way... I actually placed an order with Zava last week Friday, but from reading different threads could see that it was highly likely that I wouldn't get my order any time soon... I requested a cancellation when I got approved at the Ashcroft Pharmacy.
The following day Zava sent me an email saying that my order would be delivered 9-10 September instead of 1-2 September. So my instinct was right...

Chopsy123 · 29/08/2025 08:02

60 mins, not 6? What on earth is there to discuss for 60 mins? 😳
Please report back and let us know how it went.

I got my prescription through the GP (definitely not 60 mins 😂) but am ordering from NI as it’s much cheaper than in Ireland.

60 minutes it was.... I was loosing the will !

He asked about my lifestyle and diet and what I knew about the injection and then he talked about how it works and the recent studies. We made a plan for how much I would like to lose in weight and etc. Anyway the long and the short of it is I am picking up my injection later on today. So nervous now 😬

outofofficeagain · 29/08/2025 11:45

I need to shop for what I’m going to eat. Worried I’m not going to get enough fibre.

for those who have started already, what have you been eating?

I had Greek yoghurt with forest fruits & a couple of tablespoons of pumpkin seed for breakfast.

I think the simplest way to start is to stay away from processed food & takeaways, and make swaps for high carb food where/when you can.

I'm going to be making seeded crackers & hummus later for any snacking urges.

OneDayIWillLearn · 29/08/2025 12:07

Well I finally managed to do my weight verification call!! Very flustered as he was 3 mins late on the call and the slot is only 5 minutes, so I thought it was another tech issue

….and my 6 year old daughter was standing outside the bathroom asking me to come and play Teddy sleepovers through the whole thing!! So I managed to tell him I was 11 stone 7 (I wish) by accident. I suspect he thought I was lying to get the jab - which I’m not! - actually 13 stone 7!!

ANYWAY got through it and he said there was nothing else I needed to do now to get my order so let’s see!! Fingers crossed for delivery on Monday!

Breakfast has been porridge, or weetabix with fruit and honey. Yoghurt sometimes depending on how hungry I am. I've also batch cooked some egg cup/muffin things and have two of those with a slice of sourdough on hungrier days.

Lunch I've had soup, salad, avocado toast. Depends what we're up to. Today I'm planning on having a soft pitta with two falafels, salad leaves and a tablespoon of houmous.

Dinner is supposed to be crispy duck pancakes tonight, Costco duck, as DH is home from a wok trip to the USA later and I wanted to treat him to a nice dinner.
That's not typical though! I've been having normal dinners, just smaller portions and tweaking ingredients, such as having chicken sausages when we had sausage & mash this week, rather than the usual ones. Very nice they were too!

I'm already worried about lunches when I'm back to work. Soups may need to be my go-to!

Suppression is high today, after jabbing yesterday, so I'll be forcing myself to have some lunch, but definitely won't be able to eat as much as I did yesterday!

Berlin2018 · 29/08/2025 15:39

So glad I found this thread. I started Mounjaro last winter and lost 1 stone 11 but then went up to 5mg and had huge side effects. Since then I’ve taken 2.5 a few times but suppression wasn’t high and I kept taking breaks. Really annoyed with myself as I’ve spent £1k on mounjaro and am now only 1 stone 4lb down.
Finding a load of size 16 clothes in the loft has given me the motivation to start again. I’ve ordered Wegovy this time because of the price rises and it should be delivered on Monday/Tuesday - although nervous because I’ve ordered from Zava! Also worried about side effects.
Im 16 st 5 and 5ft8 would love to be 11 stone and a size 12 but to be honest even 13 st and a size 16 would be amazing.
I also have teens including a DD with an eating disorder so I won’t be mentioning it to her.

Chopsy123 · 29/08/2025 15:41

So I jabbed soon after 9am and was fine. Went and did a fairly usual Friday food shop and came home and ate a chicken salad sandwich for lunch with a glass of water. I didn’t have breakfast as I rarely eat until about 11am normally.

Suddenly hit by overwhelming fatigue. Went to bed and slept for about 2 hours although got up after a bit to go for a wee and put some socks on as my feet felt freezing then went back to sleep. I’ve got up a short while ago but I still feel zonked out.

DS will be home in an hour and luckily he catches the school bus so I don’t have to fetch him. I hope I can stop yawning soon and be able to make dinner. 😳

No link from Juniper, but DPD did send one so I knew when it would arrive (1 hour window).

Thankyou

SerafinasGoose · 29/08/2025 18:11

Just taken my first dose (Wegovy). I joined the August thread but like @ladygin found they were already well away, so just 3 days early for this one!

I'm apprehensive about possible side effects and will be taking particular precautions against DVT (I've had emboli before provoked by surgery). That said, I'm at risk anyway through being overweight so benefits vs. risks says it's probably as long as it's short.

My BMI is 30.7 and I want to lose at least 3 stones.

JustPickleRick · 29/08/2025 21:36

Another one here who has taken the first dose tonight! Feeling nervous but excited. I did it in my stomach and it wasn't as bad as I thought, glad I had a video to follow on tik tok 😅 keeping everything crossed I don't get really poorly with it 🫠 go back to work on Wednesday so got a few days to adjust to it!

Absolutelycluelesss · 29/08/2025 22:13

So tonight I am feeling deflated, and a little bit silly. I’ve had my pen sitting in my fridge all this week trying to not freak out about possible side effects. Had convinced myself that ‘tonight was the night’. I’ve been careful with what I’ve eaten today (no heavy carbs etc) and upped my intake of water (which I’m really not very good at). We ended going round to the in-laws and I even stuck to dilute and politely declined an alcoholic beverage! Came home and have discovered the arrival of AF ( I knew it would be at some point this weekend). Have now convinced myself that maybe tonight shouldn’t be the night to begin this journey as I currently have a migraine (something I suffer with when the time of the month comes round) and after reading on one of the MJ support groups that someone has literally sh*t themselves after having a meal 😱😱. It seems I psych myself up and then end up reading some horror story about not being able to leave the bathroom for days and it freaks me out. I work in a school and I’m terrified of something awful happening whilst I’m in class. The 6wks holiday would have been a perfect but my order didn’t arrive in time. For those that have done their 1st jab tonight well done for being brave and beginning your journey. X

Heard nothing now all day , have not had any tracking link at all from anyone .
No idea what they are doing or if its even been dispatched.
Now i am going to worry it will be sat in a hot van for two or 3 days .
Not happy they havent answered my messages to let me know anything

@TwilightAb I'm in the same sort of position as you - slightly more to lose (around 5st) but absolutely finding it so, so much harder to lose weight now. I successfully lost a couple of stone in my early 20s with WeightWatchers, kept it off for 20 years till I had the DC, ever since then I just can't lose it - they are 10 next month Blush

I spoke to my GP yesterday about a pre-existing health condition and asked if he thought taking WLI was good/ advisable with my current medication - he said absolutely, go for it, just be mindful of possible side effects. He confirmed I'm not eligible for WLI on the NHS (I didn't think so, but it would have saved me £££, best to check these things!) but did say that possibly the NHS will review their criteria over the forthcoming years given how useful WLI seem to be. I turn 50 in May 2027 though, I want to be a normal BMI by then!!

Oushk have already approved me for purchasing, however, they now seem to be one of the more expensive providers?! They were about average when I first started looking a couple of months ago - plus their customer service hasn't been great, not exactly worth the extra cost. I'm going to have a look at Juniper instead as they seem more reasonable for the 2.5mg dose, in case anyone has any feedback on them!
