Anybody else planning to start in September?

I’ve been procrastinating for months but decided to go for it despite the price increases. Waiting for my delivery from Medexpress and planning on 1st Sept start.

I have just confirmed my Wegovy order with Juniper today so will be starting soon! Im really nervous as what side affects ill get but i hoping it will help me.
I am very over weight 20st so have alot to loose but for me its turning the food noise off as thats the hardest battle for me, i know how to eat healthily and exercise but its the constant battle with my mind that i struggle with! Hopefully this works!!

JustPickleRick · 25/08/2025 17:41

Exciting hearing all of your success stories, well done :)
I'm really fussy so will still have to eat carbs but I like wholemeal bread better anyway so thats a plus!

I’m an 18 but some of those are a bit of a squeeze, and I have a wardrobe full of size 16.

My target size is a 14 (I’m worried about wrinkles), so hoping not to spend a fortune on clothes on the way down.

Just checking in here, as I've got my 1st pen ready to go. I was all set to do it today, but I've been full of a snotty, headachy cough, so DH has convinced me I'd be daft to add potential side effects on top of that today. So tomorrow it will be.

This prescription was actually authorised on the 13th, but we were going away, so I'm debating whether it's a good idea to order my next before the 1st. The problem is whether to go for another 2.5 or a 5, or maybe even 2 from different pharmacies.

Can I ask what kind of meals you’re thinking of having when you start? Fingers crossed I’m starting a week tomorrow if my call on Tuesday goes ok so starting to think about meal planning! I have two children (6 and 8) and a vegetarian husband (does eat fish).

what I usually have when doing weight watchers is:
no food for breakfast but a cup of redbush tea with a bit of oat milk then a large flask of instant coffee with oat milk over the morning.

lunch: a pot of cottage cheese, a small packet of popcorn and 2 or 3 pieces of fruit

dinner: examples might be baked potato with coleslaw (low fat mayo/ yoghurt dressing) and prawns. Salmon and pototoes/ broccoli. Roast vegetables with goat’s cheese. Prawn curry and rice. Spinach/ chickpea/ chopped tomatoes with flatbreads. Falafel and salad/ humous.

trying to get my head around whether that kind of thing will work on MJ!!

Dipping in from August thread - I started just over a week ago. I didn't really plan /prep meals or snacks my first week, and that was a mistake, as not being hungry means it's hard to get motivation to make anything healthy. I never understood why people would pay all this money for the jabs and still eat rubbish but I have a tiny bit more sympathy for that now. My partner did most of the cooking or I would have barely eaten at all. So definitely make sure you have something high protein/veg ready to go with minimal cooking, would be my advice.

I have found soups are good (I've also felt the cold a lot more) so partner cooked up a big pot for me to have for lunches this week. I also cooked up a load of veg and couscous, and Ive been adding cooked chicken and avocados to that. I've also got fruit pastel lollies in the freezer, that has and mint/ weak black tea has helped with nausea.

Good luck to you all :) :)

@twilightcafe it’s very strange isn’t it!!!! Mine was so full on for the first week and then has lessoned but still is there! I have drunk 3 cans of Diet Coke a day for 20 years I wreckon and never been able to stop. But since The Jab I haven’t had one! Don’t think about it. It just doesnot occur to me.

Im not doing very well on actively eating Jab friendly food but this is where I have to put in the mental work as my old habits just won’t work. I also am not a fan of Greek yoghurt / fish etc which everyone recommends you eat!

OneDayIWillLearn · 26/08/2025 11:42

I’ve just had a total fail with my Oushk video verification call - feeling very down about it! I joined using the link at the allotted time and could see my face on a video call and was able to chat online to the person on the other end but she said she couldn’t see me and then just ended the call at 11.34 (though it was scheduled until 11.40). I’ve managed to rebook one for tomorrow but now worried the same will happen again 🫩

I’m on a very normal iPhone so confused about how this went wrong?? Anyone else have this happen?

It's the oddest feeling. I'm just not interested in eating. This has to be the first time in my life (except during stress or illness) that I can't be bothered to eat something.

jigsawmeup · 26/08/2025 13:51

Hope it's OK to join the thread as I did my first jab yesterday afternoon. I've had the pen in the fridge for a month, but I wanted to wait till I was back from holiday, although it's a very strange time to be starting with all the confusion about price increases etc.

I've been feeling a bit hot on and off, had a slight headache yesterday and didn't sleep very well. I don't seem to be any less hungry yet! I eat a low carb diet, so I don't think I will change the types of food I'm eating too much. I think my issue is portion size though, so I hope Mounjaro will help with that!

Nervous in anticipation of what's to come!

Whichwitchwould · 26/08/2025 14:28

Can I please join? My first pen arrived today and is in the fridge now so I might start tonight.

Told DH and was surprised that he was very supportive, he is usually the tough it out sort so I thought he would have something to say. My weight has really spiralled though and my BMI is 39.8. I dont know if im deluded in thinking i dont look like my weight issue is that bad. In any case regardless of how I look it is absolutely serious obesity and I have to do something. Feeling a little down on myself so hope this gives me a boost.

I have PCOS and already strength train and run (slowly) so hopefully this is the missing piece.

UnimaginableWindBird · 26/08/2025 15:22

Oh, good luck. My order has been approved and is now at the processing stage, but it's with iqDoctor and they seem to be having a lot of delays at the moment, so I don't know when it will arrive. I'm planning on starting on 5th September because I have the Monday off work that week, so it gives me a bit more time to adjust.

JustPickleRick · 26/08/2025 15:37

Im back home now so want to take the jab now but I've heard its a good idea to take it of a friday evening so you get the worst of the symptoms out the way over the weekend. Im so tempted though, its just sat in the fridge 😬 think it might be sensible for me to do a food shop first and get the right sort of food in as it sounds like i won't want to eat after taking it 🤯

What is everyone's start weight and goal weight?
I'm 5ft 2 and weight 12 stone 7 🫠 need to lose about 4 stone to be healthy for my height, its going to be tricky!

FoxRedPuppy · 26/08/2025 15:47

I take it on a Sunday/Monday so my weekends are generally side effect free and I’m most able to enjoy food/drink. I’ve had a lot of leave anyway over summer and my work has a good sickness policy though. I’ve not had anything bad enough to miss work.

Thats positive, i don't want people guessing i'm on the injection, being ill all the time might give it away 😅
I will pop to morrisons later and stock up on some bits. I'm really fussy so will struggle with this to begin with 🫠

Somethingsnapped · 26/08/2025 17:10

Hi everyone! I'll join too. I've just completed my very first week, and so took jab 2 yesterday.

I had some mild nausea to start, but it didn't last, and I have felt brilliant all week; more energy, positive, better mood, more patience with the children. I'm interested to hear if anyone else experiences this! I've focused my meals on no/low carbs except for oats or potato, and making sure I eat plenty of protein and fibre.

The first 3 days I had no appetite at all, and had to push myself to eat, but my appetite started to come back on day 4, but in a good way, so that I have been thoroughly enjoying the healthy food I've been having. Was still definitely able to stick to smaller portions though, and the hunger inbetween meals hasn't been distracting, and there's been no temptation to snack. Even went out for a couple of meals while on holiday for two days! I deliberately took the jab on Monday, with a view to it wearing off more at the weekend.

Oh, and my knee pain has gone away! So just positive side effects for me. I feel very excited and positive about it all. I did my first weigh-in this morning, and had lost nearly 6 pounds. I know it won't continue at that rate (from what I've read on mumsnet, a big loss in the first week is quite common), but a great boost for me!

I'm 5'8", bmi 32, and want to lose about 3 stone.

Good luck everyone!

outofofficeagain · 26/08/2025 17:21

This is very positive. Well done everyone

Can I please join you all. I've been thinking about Mounjaro for a long time now and today decided to bite the bullet. So I've filled in the application form thing for my local pharmacy, just waiting on them getting back to me and all being well going in to collect the injection.

Height 5ft
Weight 12.7

@JustPickleRick I’m 13 stone 8lb ish and 5ft 6, so my BMI is between 30 and 31 currently. I need to lose a bit more than 2 stone to get to healthy BMI and would really like to lose at least 3 stone.

I have a hip and knee issue which has slowly been getting worse but I’m sure being so overweight is making it worse than it needs to be. I currently can’t run without pain and as that is my favourite form of exercise, that makes me a bit stuffed! And I feel so old and unfit when it just all HURTS. I’m 41 and I feel things can go one of two ways at this age! I ran a marathon when I was 38 and swore it wouldn’t be my first and last. Current trajectory is that I’m getting fatter and less fit and my clothes are getting dowdier and more middle aged though through virtue of having to be ‘flattering’ and I am sick of it.

And I’m also sick of my relationship with diets and food! Such a boring and predictable cycle to be stuck in!

I can’t help worrying I’m going to be the exception for whom Mounjaro just doesn’t work or that there’ll be some reason I turn out not to be eligible or something. But I guess one step at a time….

Ive rebooked my weight verification call with Oushk tomorrow so hoping it works this time and I can get my first delivery on Monday as planned.

Also need to pluck up the courage to tell my husband! We discussed it very briefly a while ago and he was not keen (side effects and ‘you look great you don’t it’). It wasn’t a very serious or in depth conversation though and I guess it would have been worse if he’d been like ‘yes you should take the jabs!’ I just feel a bit sheepish about it I guess….

TheSacredCow · 26/08/2025 19:57

Hi Everyone, I took delivery of Mounjaro today and it's in the fridge waiting for my start date of 7th Sept, due to some social and work events, where I don't want to be suffering from any side effects.

I have a question, I am storing the entire package in the fridge, inclding ice packs and eco wool stuff, which is wrapped in plastic. Is that right or should I open the package and just store the pen inside? The accompanying instructions were not clear.

I am looking to lose 2 stone, my BMI is 31, but I am 61 years of age so don't want to lose too much weight and have it adversely affecting my face.

I am nervous about injecting and most especially about side effects, but having been through several cycles of IVF in the dim and distant past, I am hoping the injecting technique will come back to me.

Good luck to all September starters.

Whichwitchwould · 26/08/2025 21:24

I did my first dose tonight and delighted to report that it was nowhere near as scary, complicated or unpleasant as i had built it up to be 🥳

I work in a hospital pharmacy and see these pens stored in the fridges daily, they are just in there in the box they come in and they are all good. So you dont need the delivery stuff.
To be fair they can be stored just the pens as long as they are in the fridge they are fine. But you might want to keep the box for info

Im due the delivery of mine today eeek! So can go out until it comes and i can put it in the fridge

Awwww thats good to know! Lets us know how you get on with the side effects

BPrincess · 27/08/2025 10:40

I'm about to order my first dose of Mounjaro, but not sure who to go with. I don't think I need meal recommendations or that kind of support, but would be good to be on the cheaper side! Bolt Pharmacy has 2.5mg for £144.58. Does that seem reasonable? Are they any good? What is everyone else paying for their first month?

NotAdultingToday · 27/08/2025 10:46

Im doing wegovy with Juinper as it was cheaper 😂 it was £85 for the first month but it goes up to like £149 the next month so thinking of going to a different supplier use up the new customer codes 😂
