Anybody else planning to start in September?

I’ve been procrastinating for months but decided to go for it despite the price increases. Waiting for my delivery from Medexpress and planning on 1st Sept start.

@Stompythedinosaur thank you for putting my mind at rest 🥰

@SoUncertain congratulations, that’s great to hear.

I did my second weigh in today and it’s a 1.5 lb loss.
Week 1: 5.5lb
Week 2: 1.5lb
Total loss: 7lb

I’ve just ordered my second pen and have gone for 5mg. I may use it for a 3.75 dose. Does anyone know if the pen will allow me to administer 5 x doses of 3.75 or will it jam up after 4 doses regardless?

Apparently it stops after 240 clicks (4 x the usual 60) plus the priming clicks, so 5 x 45 should be fine.

RudyTuesday24 · 01/10/2025 10:15

How do I inject the golden dose? I'm so worried I will stick it in too far?! But really want to use it as it's so expensive!

Chopsy123 · 01/10/2025 10:19

@Kazzaa46 If it becomes a problem, you can use an insulin syringe to extract your dose, like you’d do with the golden dose.

The syringe pulls out the solution so it isn’t affected by the twisty plunger in the pen.

I was thinking of getting a 5ml pen next time but using the syringes to extract either 2.5ml or 3.5ml dose as this seems much easer to do than counting clicks, and probably more accurate too.🤔

I haven't done it yet but there are loads of videos online with people showing you how to do it. Probably easier than trying to type a description. It looks pretty simple.

Chopsy123 · 01/10/2025 10:59

@RudyTuesday24 Do you have the insulin syringes?

I bought some off Amazon and they came with an 8mm fine needle and it felt no different stabbing myself with that compared to the pen. The layer of subcutaneous fat is quite deep on the tummy, so don’t worry about it.

Have you watched a few videos on YouTube showing how it’s done?

Are you half dosing (2.5mg from 5mg pen)? Because a full dose is always 0.6ml, so unless you're half dosing then a 5ml will be too small

Look for FatOldClimber on YouTube... he explains it so well.
That's what I watched before I did it for the first time

Chopsy123 · 01/10/2025 16:19

@maz99 Oops, I got my ml’s and mg’s muddled. 🫣

If I use the 5mg pen I’ll take 30 units in the syringe instead of 60units, to make it 2.5mg.

outofofficeagain · 01/10/2025 16:33

I’ve eaten too much fruit today.

More news as we get it.

Yes... a 0.5ml syringe will be ok for 30 units (0.3ml)

I think the pen may draw in air if you extract with insulin syringe though?

Feeling hungry between meals today! Definitely glad I bought the 5mg pen for my next one. I've still got 3 doses of 2.5mg left so will power will definitely be tested 😂 i've just sent for some syringes finally so I guess its actually 4 more doses before I go up to 5... its going to be a looooong month 🫠

I’m hungry too but I don’t find it as distressing as I did before the jabs.

i’m hungry, but can wait, which is unheard of.

definitely going up to 5 next month though

I'm hungry most days - I prefer that to the high suppression days, tbh..

JustPickleRick · 01/10/2025 19:05

Yeah its definitely different to feeling hungry before! I haven't reached for anything bad yet thankfully 😅

SnowWhiteisMyFavourite · 01/10/2025 19:44

I have the hungry feeling before meals too but able to control it so much better than before. And I don’t fancy anything sweet so haven’t have any unhealthy snacks for 5 weeks now, I don’t think that has happened ever before!

@outofofficeagain hope the extra fruit doesn’t cause too much issues. I had roast beef on Sunday and my stomach was overworking the next 48 hours. I was so bloated, ugh. Calorie wise the dinner wasn’t bad and I only had 150g of beef but my digestive system really didn’t like it!

Retiredfinally · 01/10/2025 19:55

Well done @Stompythedinosaur!

Scales are not shifting at all after an initial 10lbs loss. They’ve been hovering at 17 st 2, maybe half a pound either way for the last two and a half weeks. Calories definitely well within limits, protein on target although I might increase that (I’m using Nutracheck) and I’m not constipated. However I’ve definitely lost inches from my waist and stomach so I conclude it’s water.

I drink a lot of tea so I’ve been counting that. Target for today is more actual plain water though.
With that, I’m off to IKEA for some Klippits and lunch.

Edited

To have such a big loss in your 1st week, it's kind of to be expected that there isn't or very little weight loss in the following few weeks.
It just means that your body had quite of bit of inflammation (large amount of water weight) and your metabolism is now in repair mode.

Don't be surprised or upset if you don't lose anything for the next couple of weeks... You will definitely start losing again, so there is no need to make any drastic changes (unless you're necking a bottle of wine every night or something similar 😉)

maz99 · 01/10/2025 20:19

My 6th dose is tomorrow... last week I took 3.75mg (golden dose from 2.5mg pen + 1.25mg from 2nd 2.5mg pen).

No side effects, no hunger pangs... but have been hungry at meal times.

Today though... I could barely finish my breakfast at work (130g greek yoghurt, 10mg honey, 15mg each of pumpkin/chia/sunflower seeds) and I didn't even eat the lunch I had taken on with me.

Isn't it weird that I have such high suppression on day 6?

I'm not sure but this has been the case for me since the beginning. Suppression is always higher 2-3 days before I take the dose.

My 6th one is on Friday - still on 0.25 at this point.

It could do, but you have to prime and tap it just like you do when using the kwikpen.

Also, because we're injecting into subcutaneous fat and not a vein an air bubble is fairly harmless... still good practice to get rid of them though

I never really had such high suppression to make me want to miss a meal before. It's only made me fuller quicker.

I see. I've not really experienced this other than at the very beginning.

I could still eat large portions if I wasn't actively measuring everything. I'm not feeling the 'full' signals until around 20 minutes after I've eaten, which seems the same as things would be without weight-loss medication at all. But I do stay full for a lot longer.

Around week 6 is the time a lot of PPs have reported that the effects of 0.25 mg started to wear off (Wegovy for me).

The real beauty of it is that I'm not constantly wanting to stuff my face with crap, and have been able to cut sugar and UPFs without constantly thinking about them or experiencing almost insatiable cravings on top of horrible sugar withdrawal. Really - if that was the only effect the WLIs had, it would be worth taking them for this alone.

I want to move up through the doses slowly, and only when really necessary. I'm very wary of developing the nastier side effects, and to balance this against the investment I'm making in taking WLIs in the first place.

PS - think I'll give your app a try, thanks for sharing! I need a motivator to see me through those inevitable plateaus where the scales don't move for weeks.

I am 100% in agreement on the sugar & UPFs.

I fully realise that I am a sugar addict and that when I eat foods high in sugar I spiral into a cycle of eating sugar & UPFs.

So, I decided when starting MJ that I was going to treat it like a true addiction like when I gave up smoking after 20 years.

Even today in the office I turned down an offer of a croissant (my colleague was urging me to have it by saying it was a top quality bakery in central London) and some chocolate. I was open and honest and my response was "Hi, my name is... and I am a sugar addict.." 😂

All that to say it's working so far... I've not had any urges for sweets / crap food, which is surprising, because I normally cave by week 3

maz99 · 01/10/2025 21:17

@SerafinasGoose do you mean the app for the chart? If yes, then it's called Gala
