Anybody else planning to start in September?

I’ve been procrastinating for months but decided to go for it despite the price increases. Waiting for my delivery from Medexpress and planning on 1st Sept start.

Q about protein powders.. I bought a blender and looking into smoothie recipes. Does anyone have any recommendations which one to buy, nothing too sweet so either no flavour at all or something with berry or vanilla flavour.

Tha is @Kazzaa46 I will check that channel out.

I have had the most horrendous explosive diarrhea since last night (tmi sorry!) like nothing I've ever experienced before! I mid-way through week 3 and haven't had this side effects before (just the usual nausea). Anyone else?! I'm wondering if it's because yesterday I had some homemade immune honey with lemon & ginger cos that's literally the only thing I did different and my body didn't like the sugar?! I usually have it through the winter stirred into boiling water but I can't think what else it could be...

I’ve had extreme diarrhoea a couple of days after both first and second injections of 2.5mg. With the first, I also felt nauseous but with the second injection, I had chronic wind as well. I await injection 3 with interest!

Today is beginning of week 5 for me, so 5th jab. I'm going to try and use a syringe for the golden dose.

Over the last week I've been having snacking urges and hunger pangs, so I contacted my pharmacy and asked for their advice. They said thay since I've not had any side effects that I could go up, but also could stay on 2.5mg since I've been losing weight... (great that didn't really help)

Because I hadn't planned on increasing the dose, I haven't got a 5mg yet (in the office today so can't accept delivery)

I'm trying to decide if I should use my 2nd 2.5mg pen as well today to get 1.25mg so I can get 3.75mg. Hmmm... 🤔

Atalosswhat2do · 25/09/2025 09:15

It’s weigh in day for me today, 2lb off which I’m delighted with, on to week 3.

SW: 12st 3lb
CW: 11st 9lb

Week 1: -6lb
Week 2: -2lb

total loss: 8lb

Hi all,

Had my first 'blip' last night, simply I was thinking why?
Why am I putting myself through all these roller coaster of emotions, I mean the headache has to by my only side effect so far, it's not banging but it's a constant pressure one so it kind of takes the fun out of the whole thing.
Then I was questioning my food choices.
For example yesterday:
Black tea (no sugar) and water until 1 (office lunch time) I could of carried on not eating but forced myself to have a tomato cup a soup and 2 ryvita crackerbread.
Then water until tea time. I cooked sausage and chips (Air fried in frylight) for hubby and I but I couldn't face the sausage so I had about 10 chips.
How is this sustainable and also, am I making my headache worse?

As you can see I'm in a bit of a state today and thinking what am I doing?! 😢

I guess it’s personal to you as to work out whether it’s worth it or not, hope it’s ok to chip in as starting this week but haven’t yet.

Hope someone more experienced comes along shortly. Be kind to yourself, we’re all allowed a wobble, so to speak.

I got whey protein from MyProtein. They have a ridiculous amount of flavour choices. DH likes strawberry as says it tastes like strawberry milkshake. They have unflavoured and vanilla options too. Definitely worth a look

It does sound like you aren't getting enough calories and that is likely tied to your headache. Can you eat some snacks between meals? Could you add a drink like a protein shake to get more calories and nutrients? Try adding olive oil as a dressing to salads. Or nuts are calorie dense and nutritious. Add butter or spread to your ryvita/bread.

Ok, I feel like over the worse of the 💩 thank goodness. I've now lost a stone in the past 3 weeks (probs in part to the side effects!), I'm now wondering if I should stick at 2.5mg instead of going up to 5, as I have been losing weight, and worried about the further side effects! I had already ordered my 5mg pen as that's what the pharmacy recommended, but wondering if I keep what in the fridge and order a new 2.5 pen?! Is the point of moving up of your weight loss has plateaued?

Bugling · 25/09/2025 13:30

Hello, first post on this thread! I started mounjaro two weeks ago and did my 3rd injection this morning. I started at 16 stone 4lb and this morning weighed in at 15 stone 8lb!

I have successfully lost weight in my early 20’s and after 2 pregnancies, and have been happy as a size 12/14 curvy person with boobs and hips… but since lockdown and now having some significant family caring duties my weight has crept up over the last couple of years and I’m way bigger than I’ve ever been as an 18/20. I hope to get down to 13 stone with medication and then stop and see how I go alone to my pre baby weight of 11-12 stone. I know everything I need to do, I love to eat low carb anyway with lots of protein and vegetable sides, we cook almost everything from scratch and I’m not that fond of sweet things. But lots of tired takeaways, and drinking too much wine as a treat because I rarely get to do much for myself has added up.

First week I could barely eat and struggled to get to 500 cals a day but that has settled. I’m eating far less, I have been getting hungrier later in the week last week but I’m not finding it hard to wait for dinner or eat less than I have been, mainly because I don’t want to be spending this money and then still snacking etc! So it’s helped my willpower in that way too. Hope to do a month more on 2.5 and see how I am feeling if I want to move to 5.

Great, thank you! I will try these, I’ve seen them recommended on the other threads too. Vanilla flavour seems to be used in several recipes so I will try that first. I will report back 😉

Absolutelycluelesss · 25/09/2025 14:26

Hi all, so it’s jab today tomorrow. My first week is done. Things I’ve noticed:
felt slightly nauseous when I’ve not eaten for a while. Usually a cereal bar (low calorie) or couple of crackers eases this.
im drinking more water but not excessive amounts.
food noise has gone, I eat because I need to rather than because I fancy it or I’m bored.

I did weigh myself and saw I’d lost 4lbs but then this morning had put 2lb on. I have felt very bloated today - anyone have any suggestions on how to ease this?

im eating logs of fruit and veg and making sure i have protein everyday.

my question to you guys is we’re going out for a meal this Saturday (which will be the day after my jab) for an Indian. I’ve steered clear of anything spicy just in case it upsets my stomach and causes explosive 💩.

any advice on what I should eat when out? The friends we’re out with don’t know I’m on mj.

If it was me, I'd probably stay on 2.5mg rather than risk going up and getting more side effects. A stone in 3 weeks is amazing. Personally, I would just take half doses from your 5mg pen (30 clicks) and make the pen last longer. But that's a personal choice. I am doing that next month, it saves money and means I don't have to rush straight up to 5mg, I can maybe go to 3.75mg if I find that 2.5mg is no longer as effective. I ordered a 5mg pen knowing I was going to do that. I keep my pen in the fridge all the time and I have decided I am not concerned about using a pen for longer than a month.

Sleetingnow · 25/09/2025 17:14

Ooh @wodantimbercoaster I had thought about doing that but clueless - how do you do half doses? And 3.75? Also, are there any risks at all with using a pen longer than a month do you know? I had wondered about doing that cos it works out way cheaper, but wondered if there was a reason people don't do that? I guess I would need to get some more needles?

SnowWhiteisMyFavourite · 25/09/2025 17:21

@Absolutelycluelesss I’m assuming you’re not vegetarian as I would probably go with tandoori dish/mixed grilled with a few side vegs etc. chose something less spicy and avoid rice so you can eat more meat 😄 or just order a few side dishes without the main if you think that the size of the dish will be an issue.

namechange0998776554799000 · 25/09/2025 17:28

Jab 2 done! I've been getting hungrier as the week goes on so it's a relief to jab and hopefully get a bit more suppression, I definitely felt it for the first few days after my first jab. I've lost half a stone in a week which is around what I was expecting based on when I've lost weight before. I'm averaging about 1,200 calories which is a bit low (although I'm only 5ft), but I'm finding it hard to eat more while still keeping carbs down and protein up! My old diet was almost purely carbs so it's quite a shift, I'll get there though.

I did have a bottle of Huel vanilla ready to drink one day when I didn't get time for a lunch break and it was surprisingly tasty and easy to drink so I'd recommend that for anyone looking for a protein shake kind of thing.

i also got a magnesium spray which helped massively with sleep. I haven't had any stomach side effects yet but I've stocked up on remedies for both constipation & diarrhoea so I'll be ready if I get them after this second jab!

Thanks @SnowWhiteisMyFavourite no I’m not vegetarian. I said to my OH about sharing a rice and a curry but he wasn’t keen 🤣. May do as you say and have a couple of smaller plates and not much rice.

ThePainGrowsStronger · 25/09/2025 18:29

So, I've jabbed 4 times now. I've experienced a little low level nausea but managed that with peppermint tea.

I do sometimes get hungry but find that I'm able to make healthier choices and I have no craving for the junk food that previously made up my diet - especially over my cycle.

I have to work hard to drink enough water and noticed the last couple of days I haven't been mindful enough of this.

In week 1 I lost 7 lbs, then 6 lbs then this week 5 lbs! Making a total of 13 lbs.

I'm noticing my clothes are slightly looser but I was so overweight to begin with that I don't think people have noticed (or they're too polite to comment!)

I'd really love another 10 lbs off over the next 4 weeks to take me into a new stone level by half term - I think that woukd be psychologically significant for me.

Lots of people use higher dose pens for lower doses. Loads of info out there, YouTube is your friend for this. I recommend you watch lots of videos from a guy on there called FatOldClimber. He is extremely helpful.

MoreIcedLattePlease · 25/09/2025 18:53

Evening all, I can't believe I'm on my 6th jab today! After doing 5 weeks of 2.5mg, I have definitely noticed an increase in hunger this week - I was absolutely starving on Monday! Went for my usual swim and realised half way through that my stomach was screaming for food, which then took ages to cook when we got home. I really struggled with willpower that day.

It's not been so bad since then, but it's definitely niggling and I am not experiencing the 'I can't eat all of this' feeling anymore. Probably healthy, but I'm conscious that it's more than likely a sign that it's time to move up. I'm so wary of side effects on work weeks/days though, that I'm terrified of 5mg! I decided to jab 3mg today and see how I get on. I know it's not recommended, but I figured if I'm struggling half way through the week I can 'top up,' and then raise it slightly next Thursday? I'll see how I go anyway. I've officially started my 5mg pen though!

Pleased to welcome so many new people, and congratulations on all weight loss this week! I'm not sure where I'm at yet this week, as I've been very bunged up until today. Will weigh on Saturday morning, as usual.

I have been following all these threads and I decided to follow suit so I started mounjaro today. I don't know what to expect but I pray I fall into the no symptoms team....fingers crossed :)

I’ve been feeling pretty tired and I look more tired than I am. Made a huge mistake with a protein shake tonight. Couldn’t face the food I’d prepared, so had one thinking it was a good idea and it made me feel really sick.

Ihateslugs · 26/09/2025 01:39

I’m putting together my order for Tesco delivery and need some suggestions for winter type foods to eat. I rely on a delivery as I have mobility problems so plan my meals a week ahead. So far on my weight loss journey ( dieting for 3 or 4 months, lost around 2 stone, started mounjaro two weeks ago) I’ve enjoyed a lot of salads with things like chicken breast, salmon, tinned tuna, roast beef, ham joint, prawns but am looking for inspiration of low cal recipes that I can cook. Other than continue to have the same protein foods with a jacket potato or homemade soup, I’m struggling a bit.

I love stir fries but since changing from gas to an induction hob, I have not mastered them, my wok needs to flames coming up the sides to flash cook things, I now end up with a kind of greasy fry up! Ideally I’d like to cook something fresh one night and heat it up the following night. I used to make lasagne, curries, pies, casseroles etc but the recipes I use are too many calories!

Other than hunting out lower calorie versions, I was wondering if you have any other suggestions, such as things to replace the jacket potatoes. I’m not a fan of vegetables unfortunately and hate ready meals!

Living on my own gives me free reign what to eat but it’s also boring having to cook every night.

UnimaginableWindBird · 26/09/2025 06:05

I've been eating a lot more pulses, because they are both protein and fibre to a meal so pack a great nutritional punch, so cold-weather comfort foods I've enjoyed recently have included a veg-heavy cottage pie (onions, carrots, garlic, courgettes, a red pepper, mince, lentils, stock, a tin of tomatoes and some frozen mash), lentil soup, chickpea stew, chicken and chickpea casserole, this duck conduit with cavolo Nero which is both fancy and diet-friendly: https://www.waitrose.com/ecom/recipe/confit-duck-beans-cavolo-nero.

I also did a sausage tràybake with chicken sausages.
