Anybody else planning to start in September?

I’ve been procrastinating for months but decided to go for it despite the price increases. Waiting for my delivery from Medexpress and planning on 1st Sept start.

What's everyone doing for exercise? I tried a couple of YouTube ones but they were too hard and I'm losing my limited determination to also workout as well as diet! I'm just so weak ha!

I joined the gym at my local leisure centre at the end of July before I even thought about weight loss jabs. Initially I started with 2 exercise classes - Zumba & Aqua Aerobics.
A couple of weeks ago I changed classes, now do 2 cardio classes (Aqua, Combat) and 2 weights classes (Power Pump & Body Conditioning) a week.
Have a lot of muscle soreness which may affect my weight loss on the scales due to water retention.

I've tried into the gym to use the exercise machines, but I find it so boring.

Hello everyone, I hope I can join you!?

I have been researching MJ for a while and then last week I saw my hairdresser after 3 months who looked fantastic, turns out she's been on it so that was my mind made up.
I took my first jab on Sunday, took me until lunch time to pluck up the courage lol.
I didn't find it too difficult but the fear of the unknown afterwards has been there of course.
I have noticed that I have felt a lot more tired since, and a strange 'heavy' feeling in my head but 'touch wood' they are my only side effects so far (early days I know)
I can't quite believe how fast the appetite and cravings have reduced which I'm also finding quite strange as I am a massive foody.
I couldn't even eat a quarter of my tea last night so I really need to give evening meals some thought, I think more bland would suit ne netter, my stomach was not ready for hunters chicken and roasted veg!

It would be great to share thoughts and feelings with you all 🤗

Well done for getting started! Just make sure you drink plenty of water! I’m on week 2 and so far my only side effects is feeling really tired the day after I jab. The rest of the time I feel brilliant. I have high BP and usually wake up with a headache, since starting mj my headaches have gone!

Yes the water intake, woah that’s crazy how much I’m drinking, twice I had to get up during the night!

SoUncertain · 23/09/2025 14:07

@Sleetingnow I am swimming twice a week. I usually take my daughter at the weekend but it's more splashing about than exercise when she's with me! I have found I have a lot more stamina which is great! I usually do 7000 ISH steps a day anyway with school run and (elderly) dog walk, but need to push up to 10k I think!

@bluepaperwaspofbxl well done to you and DH! Sounds like it's having a lot of benefit for you both ☺️

Hello! I was also really nervous. Took my 2nd jab today and feeling wiped out, just like last week.

UnimaginableWindBird · 23/09/2025 16:14

I've signed up for sessions with personal trainer at my gym. I'm going to meet her on Monday to discuss what I want to get out of the sessions, and when to see her etc. I'm quite excited.

Ihateslugs · 23/09/2025 18:18

Well, I’ll be ruining all my hard work this evening as I’m off to a WI group, The Cake Club! A few of us bake cakes linked to a different theme each evening and we sit around and sample them all! To make it worse, it’s someone birthday so we are having cocktails as well.

It’s a monthly meeting and I enjoy the social side, I’ve only eaten 500 calories so far today and usually have very small pieces of cake anyway but the cocktails could be the breaking point! I’ve not had any alcohol at home since February and always drive myself to things so never drink most nights now. Other than another WI group, Gin Club, where we sample different gins and have a great evening. That is also monthly and I get a taxi. I did miss Gin Club last week due the diarrhoea from my first injection.

I’ll have a very low calorie day tomorrow to hopefully make up for it. I’m not going to stop going as I think it’s important to have a social life along side this weight loss marathon and WI meetings are my main focus outside the house.

Weigh in on Friday morning might be interesting.

OneDayIWillLearn · 23/09/2025 19:37

@Ihateslugs have fun! I remember reading an article in the Radio Times where Wolf from Gladiators (it was a LONG time ago!) said he always had one day a week when he’d eat anything he liked - nachos, pizza, whatever - because it was good for keeping your metabolism fast.

So just saying, if it’s good enough for Wolf…..

SnowWhiteisMyFavourite · 23/09/2025 20:49

Exercise.. I’m doing exercise bike every other day about 20 minutes, building this up slowly. And dumbbells when watching tv. Like @OneDayIWillLearn said, I don’t want to change/ try too many things at once as it can become overwhelming.

I’m now on W4D4 and feeling quite energised. Looking back, I think I was quite tired during the weeks 1 and 2 and also suffered headaches, those have now gone. I increased my fibre intake and also started taking magnesium supplements and this might have sorted out constipation! So overall feeling good 😊

Taste buds have definitely changed! I’ve taken my collagen with orange juice for over a year and the last 2 days orange juice has started tasting too sweet. Today I was in a meeting and there was all sorts of biscuits/sweets and I didn’t want to have any of those. Proud moment 😄

Enjoy it! Having days off is always a good idea and will keep you motivated if you can face the cakes :)

Pinkbox · 23/09/2025 22:01

Right it’s day 6 of week 1 and I seem to be back to my starting weight. I had two nauseous days and then on the last four I have stuck rigidly to 1200 cals. This is the lower option for me to lose weight when I do the calculations. Lost 2 pounds, gained 2 back, then lost 3, gained 3. I am hoping against hope that tomorrow shows a loss as it’s been so tough. Side effects, raging thirst and trying to eat enough calories on days 1-4! What a weird week.

Kazzaa46 · 23/09/2025 22:43

Hi all 😊 I’ve been away with work, need to catch up on posts.
Quick update:

Took my 2nd dose at 10pm. Hoped anxiety would be less, but had another panic attack after injecting (white coat syndrome + medical stuff really gets me). Hoping it eases with time.

Week 1: Constipation still ongoing. Felt fuzzy and “off” early in the week, then really positive, then back to my usual self by the end. Appetite suppression was strong for 4 days, then hunger crept in days 5–7 but still small portions, no cravings except once.

Lately I’ve had a weird side effect, feels like a lump or spasm in my throat/tubes. Anyone else had that?

Weigh in is Wed morning so will update tomorrow. Hope everyone’s doing well 🥰

Kazzaa46 · 24/09/2025 07:02

Week 1 weight loss: 5.5lb 🥳
I know a lot is water weight but what a great start.

@Pinkbox with your weight variations it sounds like it might be water retention going up and down. If it helps my sister was like that week 1 and didn’t lose anything but her week 2 weigh in she had a good loss so think for some people it can take a while for the body chemistry to adjust.

@Ihateslugs enjoy cake club, we still have to enjoy ourselves and live a life and having a treat now and again is always nice.

With exercise, I do a 20 min HIIT workout on YouTube, it doesn’t sound a lot but I’ve built up good fitness over the last year and find this is easy to fit in and it combines cardio and body weight strength and I end up a sweaty mess by the end! I started with a beginner workout and built up to advanced. I really like growingannanas on YouTube, I find her videos easy to follow and she has a range of levels.

lulu1921 · 24/09/2025 07:22

Good morning all,

Quick question for those who have had a headache as a symptom, does it get better as your body adjusts or could this potentially be 'my side effect'. I am more tired than normal but sleeping brilliantly, to the point I forgot to set my alarm, I woke up suddenly and my head felt like a lead balloon.

I'm ok to take Ibuprofen right?

Have a good day all!

Chopsy123 · 24/09/2025 07:29

@lulu1921 Yes, I suffer from migraines normally so after the first two injections, I had a bad migraine headache about 12 hrs after injecting. Plus feeling absolutely wiped out, like when you’re coming down with something.

Then feeling headachey the following two mornings when waking up (not a migraine head though), but on the third and fourth week, I didn’t have a headache at all.

I’ve been taking my migraine pills so you’re probably ok with ibuprofen, although I don’t use that for headaches myself.

You're doing exactly what I'm doing - although I have been on the bike 5 days a week. I did a too-intense workout on Saturday, though, and left myself lightheaded (note to self, eat beforehand and build up gradually)!

I had a slight fear over palpitations and knowing this to be a side effect I checked in with my GP this morning. She's satisfied I'm fine, nothing to concern her about my heart pattern, but I had an ECG last winter following elevated blood pressure (stress). Results were perfect so she's going to repeat that test just to ensure nothing's changed.

I'm happy I've done this because we all know side effects do exist and far better safe than sorry. But I'm more happy than I can say that I have the green light to continue with the medication - I'm much more optimistic about my chances of a sustainable loss with than without it. Lost 9lbs after 4 doses, which puts me on the right path and I feel so much better than I did just four short weeks ago.

JustPickleRick · 24/09/2025 11:03

The strange thing about the headaches is they're a different kind to what I normally get when dieting. When i've been dieting in the past, i've had that kind of headache where i feel sick and any movement of my head is painful. These headaches are different, just a heavy head like ive got a hangover 😅 i can deal with these ones much better! Anyone else found the same?

OneDayIWillLearn · 24/09/2025 11:52

@JustPickleRick I’ve quite often thought my side effects feel like a hangover! Bit tired, queasy and head-achey.

Rather like morning sickness at times too. But I have never thought I was actually going to be sick.

jigsawmeup · 24/09/2025 12:28

Happy to say after gaining 2lb last week(!) I am now down 4lb which makes an 8lb loss from 4 doses of my 2.5pen. I was planning on doing the golden does to bridge the gap before moving up to 5mg, but I haven't managed to get hold of needles to do this. I thought I'd be able to just pick some up from a chemist but the pharmacist said I would need a prescription. Anyway, I've ordered the UK medi ones for the future, but I've decided to just go ahead with my first 5mg jab. Fingers crossed for no side effects and a bit more supression this month!

Tha is @Kazzaa46 I will check that channel out.

I have had the most horrendous explosive diarrhea since last night (tmi sorry!) like nothing I've ever experienced before! I mid-way through week 3 and haven't had this side effects before (just the usual nausea). Anyone else?! I'm wondering if it's because yesterday I had some homemade immune honey with lemon & ginger cos that's literally the only thing I did different and my body didn't like the sugar?! I usually have it through the winter stirred into boiling water but I can't think what else it could be...

Kazzaa46 · 24/09/2025 14:20

@jigsawmeup really well done on the loss!

@JustPickleRick I had a couple of headaches in the first week when I woke up in the morning. They weren’t normal headaches like you said, they were more like aches in the side of my head- really hard to explain but ibuprofen sorted them out.

After dose 2 last night, I’ve had no side effects today other than ongoing constipation. My weird throat lump and spasms seem to have gone after that dose too. Been taking sennokot every other night which has been doing the trick so far for constipation but took some last night and they didn’t work so I’m starting to worry as it’s been 3 days now. I may need something stronger! Going to try a workout after work to see if that moves things along 😆

Suppression seems to be just kicking in now strong again. Have had to have a protein meal replacement shake for lunch as I couldn’t face eating…

I am only start of week 2 so not experienced that yet but I did have something sugary last week- funnily enough it was also honey and it gave me an awful feeling in my tummy, it just sat funny and made me feel a bit uncomfortable so it may well be the sugar.

Sleetingnow · 24/09/2025 14:59

@Kazzaa46 ooh that's interesting. I definitely don't want a repeat experience if this 😳

namechange0998776554799000 · 24/09/2025 15:41

Honey has always given me a runny tummy (pre-MJ), so sounds like a likely culprit!
