Anybody else planning to start in September?

I’ve been procrastinating for months but decided to go for it despite the price increases. Waiting for my delivery from Medexpress and planning on 1st Sept start.

I have a couple more questions- what do others feel when they feel suppression? Is it physical like a full feeling or mental like a lack of urge to eat or a lack of hunger?
Also does anyone else have an annoying nearly-a-burp feeling in their chest/throat the whole time? It’s driving me potty. Have had gaviscon etc but still the same.

UnimaginableWindBird · 21/09/2025 14:33

@Pinkbox I get that feeling after I've eaten, especially if I've eaten more than my new normal amount. But it's not constant for me. I also seen too get it more with fattier foods.

I don't have massive suppression. For me, it feels like my brain tells me I'm full even when my stomach isn't quite there yet, and being less hungry between meals, and sometimes having to force myself to eat because I already feel full. But I still feel hungry and enjoy food and I know some people don't even get those feelings.

MoreIcedLattePlease · 21/09/2025 13:26

Yes, that's correct.

Sorry to hear you're struggling with it, @Catladyof7 - is there any chance you've bought the 'wrong' needles/syringes?

I bought the ones everyone recommended on here . Blue colour

Kazzaa46 · 21/09/2025 15:38

@Pinkbox for the first few days my suppression felt mostly like no desire to eat to the point where the thought of food turned my stomach but that was mixed in with a couple of times where I wanted to eat and enjoyed my food but couldn’t even eat half of it.
Today is day 6 for me although as I jabbed before bed on Tue night, it feels more like day 5, and I have no hunger pangs today but have felt like I wanted and needed to eat e.g stomach hunger cramps, and for the first time today I finished a whole meal at lunch time.

I just have absolutely no desire to eat at all. I can, and do, eat, because I know not doing so is actually not going to help in the long run; however, I also cannot eat as much as my old portion sizes when I do. I used to wander around 'fancying' something pretty much the whole time. Food is literally just fuel now.

I have still made conscious changes to my diet despite this, because I want to set new habits.

I also have a 'lump in throat' ish feeling, it's worse the first few days after jabbing, then eases by around Tuesday (I jab Thursday evening).

I can only describe it as a feeling of nothingness. I’m not hungry, I’m not full/stuffed, just totally content, if I didn’t make the effort to eat I could easily forget to. I have a calorie goal of 1200cals per day and I have been under every day so far, but I fully expect to reach it over the next week or so as I increase my activity levels.

@Pinkbox a kind of ‘oh no I really don’t fancy that’ feeling about food that I would usually like. Absence of thinking about what I’m going to eat next all the time. Starting a meal then thinking ‘oof I feel full’ a bit like when you’ve had your Christmas meal but when I’ve only eaten a third what I usually have.

That said, I’m only coming to the end of week 2 so I’m a beginner! The first week I didn’t have much suppression, second week I had pretty strong suppression on jab day and three days afterwards, some on fifth day and not much on day 6 and 7. Jabbing again tomorrow morning….

Georgelassosthemoon · 21/09/2025 19:05

It’s like I would normally scrape out as much as possible from a yoghurt pot but this morning I just couldn’t be bothered!

Chopsy123 · 21/09/2025 19:09

@Pinkbox I’m another one whose appetite has diminished a lot.

I have no desire to eat very much most of the time and I’m eating about a third of what I’d consider my usual portion size of a meal, so I’m re-thinking my meals to ensure what I do eat is properly nutritious food. I’m also only eating about twice a day.

I’m also not interested in snacking and haven’t eaten any crisps or sweets in over 3 weeks. 😱

Yes, I was also getting bad reflux at times so I’ve been taking about 6 Holland & Barrett brand Psyllium Husk tablets and 1Solgar brand Digestive Enzyme tablet with my main meals. This seems to have made a difference as I’m not getting that horrible reflux pain although it could also be because my body is getting used to the MJ, as I’m also not getting any side effects after jabbing now. 🤔

Ihateslugs · 21/09/2025 21:47

I don’t think I get any suppression at all, I had my second injection last Friday and the only thing I’ve been feeling is stomach cramps and diarrhoea for a couple of days after each jab! But I was doing really well dieting for the previous three months, lost over 11/2 stone but decided to start using the injections to speed things up and stop me going of the rails as I usually do when dieting. So I think I’ve taught myself not to want as much to eat, to eat healthily, to think about what I am eating and not to eat between my two meals a day.

I am now more aware of actual calories in certain foods and picking low cal meals, with as much protein as possible and no hidden calories. So a typical day might be a small banana with my morning black coffee ( I take meds and painkillers in the morning which have to be taken with food), two hard boiled eggs on 2 slices of whole meal bread with a piece of fruit mid afternoon then my main meal around 8 pm might consist of a skinless chicken breast with a massive salad, possibly with cheese crumbled on top and a small helping of homemade potato salad or a Waldorf salad. I might then have two spoonfuls of Greek yogurt with fruit afterwards but often don’t bother.

With my weight, I can eat 1400 calories to lose the max daily weight recommended but I rarely eat more than 1200 calories.

So hopefully, when I finish taking the WLIs, I’ll be able to continue these eating habits.

Oh, and I’ve cut out all alcohol apart from one night a month when I go to one of my WI groups - the gin tasting group! I used to drink a couple of strong gins four or five nights a week but I decided it was an easy win to just give up.

I just need to stop being ill when I take the injections.

I've been away for the weekend so not caught up on the whole thread yet. Just updating at the end of week 2:

I'm 4.8kg down, which is 10.5 lb!

Very happy to find something that finally works for me! Even while I was away eating a fairly set menu, I still managed to make the healthier choices and enjoy some treats (mini flapjacks and hot chocolate bar!). I was wondering how MJ would work while I don't have as much control over my diet but I am really pleased.

I wish I started this a year ago, but I'm glad to have the opportunity to do it now

OneDayIWillLearn · 22/09/2025 13:51

Jab 3 done ✔️

SW: 13 stone 10lbs
CW: 13 stone 4.5lbs

this week: 1.5lb off

That’s about bang on target for me so happy with that (albeit I’m desperate to be back in the 12s so feeling a bit impatient!).

Still in a state of complete indecision about whether to go up to 5 or stay on 2.5 as well. My suppression last week on days 1-4 was as strong as I’d ideally want it - which makes me think I should stay on 2.5 - but on days 5-7 it was pretty minimal - which makes me worry! I guess I’ll see what happens this week and then decide….

outofofficeagain · 22/09/2025 14:07

Week 4 jab done.

SW - 16 6
TW1 -14 11
TW2 - 12 7
CW - 15 12

Another 2lbs down this week, so 8lb in 3 weeks which I’m happy with.

like @OneDayIWillLearnI’m completely undecided about next week.

every article I read is so negative about WLI that it’s making me nervous, but also slightly more belligerent. Am happy with slow and steady loss though

I'm not feeling so good today but can't quite put my finger on it.
I've got my period but its very light as always. Start my pill again tomorrow so should be at the end of it.
Feels like period pains/cramping in my stomach/sides but I never usually get pains. Its a heavy, achey sort of feeling.
Worrying myself as i have kidney issues and this is feeling similar to that feeling of sickness. I've been drinking so much water though so I cant see why it would be them.
Very strange, i'm 4 weeks in and this is the first i've felt not quite right.
Anyone had similar around their period?

Sleetingnow · 23/09/2025 08:41

What's everyone doing for exercise? I tried a couple of YouTube ones but they were too hard and I'm losing my limited determination to also workout as well as diet! I'm just so weak ha!

bluepaperwaspofbxl · 23/09/2025 09:05

2nd jab today, which is a good thing because I'm hungry this morning.

I've lost 2.5 kg. I felt really tired for the first couple of days and had a sleepless night. My husband has lost over 4kg and has had some nausea and sleeplessness, but otherwise, it's not been a bad first week at all.
I feel a lot better in myself. No migraines. Have been able to do a couple of hours on the bike and my sense of taste has returned properly for the first time since I had covid in 2023.

@Sleetingnow to be honest nothing much yet. I’d like to get back into running but I need to lose more weight before that as my hip and knees won’t cope with it at my current size.

Also I’m aware that I often set myself up for failure by trying to change everything at once and aiming for perfection! Then I get overwhelmed and disheartened. At the moment I’m just focusing on getting into a new rhythm with food and with the jabs. When I’m feeling like it I might try to add some Pilates or yoga. For me it’s definitely one step at a time though!

lulu1921 · 23/09/2025 11:32

Hello everyone, I hope I can join you!?

I have been researching MJ for a while and then last week I saw my hairdresser after 3 months who looked fantastic, turns out she's been on it so that was my mind made up.
I took my first jab on Sunday, took me until lunch time to pluck up the courage lol.
I didn't find it too difficult but the fear of the unknown afterwards has been there of course.
I have noticed that I have felt a lot more tired since, and a strange 'heavy' feeling in my head but 'touch wood' they are my only side effects so far (early days I know)
I can't quite believe how fast the appetite and cravings have reduced which I'm also finding quite strange as I am a massive foody.
I couldn't even eat a quarter of my tea last night so I really need to give evening meals some thought, I think more bland would suit ne netter, my stomach was not ready for hunters chicken and roasted veg!

It would be great to share thoughts and feelings with you all 🤗

I have increased my daily step goal from 6000 to 10,000 to ensure my calories out are at least 2,000 per day.

I work from home so the 6000 steps can sometimes be a tough ask especially on Admin days when I hardly move all day. I decided to try and do 20 mins per day walking on the spot.

On my Fitbit, this is recognising my ‘walk’ as a daily exercise. I have gone from years of NEVER getting even 1 days exercise logged to having my current 9 day streak, and the best bit, it doesn't require anything additional cost/effort/plans.

Well done, that’s over 5lbs, I guess some will be water loss but even so, it’s a fantastic start on your journey.

How many calories have you been eating? I was advised on here to use a TDEE calculator to see how much I needed to eat to lose weight based on my gender, age, height and weight and it came up with two amounts. For me it is 1741 for a mild weight loss of 1/2 lb a week and 1491 for a moderate weight loss just over 1lb. I am aiming for 1 to 2 lb a week so am aiming for 1200 cals a day but not worrying if I go over that sometimes. I think the lower your weight, the less calories you should eat? I currently weigh 17 1/5 lb so a lot to lose!

Thanks. I haven't been calorie counting, but if I add up what I had yesterday it was about 1200. I've just been eating much smaller portions of what I would usually have for lunch and dinner and drinking lots of water. I started at 85.5kg (13.4 stones), went up to 86.5kg the day after my 1st jab and am now at 83kg . I haven't been hungry until yesterday, but have been making sure I eat something at least 3 times a day.
