September 25 starters

outofofficeagain · 23/08/2025 11:19

Anybody else planning to start in September?

I’ve been procrastinating for months but decided to go for it despite the price increases. Waiting for my delivery from Medexpress and planning on 1st Sept start.

Can I say too that if anyone else has positive, easy experiences at pharmacies with a good price, I'm always happy to hear them (not referrals, just recommendations).

maz99 · 20/09/2025 18:45

anon2022anon · 20/09/2025 18:26

@maz99 it's not a subscription. For about the 3rd time. There is nothing to tie you in. It is a one time purchase. There is no requirement to order again.

Membership to the pharmacy plus the jab, using the code, came to £2 more than yours. I have no need to reorder with them, nothing to tie me to them. It may be that in the future, as with Ashcroft, that whatever offer they have on makes it cheaper than others. Maybe not. I've not used them before.

Apart from being £2 cheaper, can you explain how that is better or worse than Ashcroft?

Not that you'll be able to see, but 3 other members of this thread have liked my comment, suggesting that I'm not the only one who read your comments that way.

What part of 'an opinion' do you not get?

Membership / subscription... in my opinion, same difference... I question why there is a need for additional cost(s) other than the amount for the product & delivery.

Please stop taking my comments as an attack or dig. If you can't handle anyone voicing an opinion about what you post, then maybe you shouldn't post at all.

Also...
Did I say Ashcroft was better?
No, I used it in comparison

Do I care if anyone likes/agrees with you? No, I do not... because it's not a competition and nothing I've posted is about you being 'wrong'. It's about providing information and awareness.

anon2022anon · 20/09/2025 18:50

Right. But why did you feel a recommendation on a friendly thread warranted an opinion? Rather than just also sharing a positive recommendation? Especially since you haven't got any actual negative experience, or can give any reason why you needed to shit on my positive experience?

Just comes across as someone who needs to be right, in my 'opinion', and doesn't give a shit about a community atmosphere.

anon2022anon · 20/09/2025 18:53

Oh and as to why there needs to be a membership- probably for the same reason that Ashcroft needs you to put in a code, rather than reducing the price. Because some people won't bother and will pay full price instead.

anon2022anon · 20/09/2025 18:58

Anyway.

I tried protein powder for the first time today, a chocolate coconut flavour one in my porridge. Do they all taste very artificial? I couldn't finish my breakfast.

JustPickleRick · 20/09/2025 19:08

@maz99 Any need for the attitude in your posts? 🤫

WhiteAmaryllis · 20/09/2025 19:57

I didn't start this thread, but it's been so far so supportive and it's helped massively to talk to others on the same journey, dealing with navigating this alongside all the other things we all contend with day to day (that haven't exactly helped me make this change until now).

There's obviously not one way to do this and we've all got slightly different priorities and anxieties, but I'd hate for people to feel they didn't want to come back, or are being got at for sharing their views or explaining themselves.

I'm going to go for my first 'golden dose' tomorrow. I think it'll work because after my fourth one, I twisted past the resistance and wound it back again. I ordered from Health Express and after not taking up their reorder reminder email yet (due to stretching to five weeks), they've sent me a 10% discount across the whole site.

Kazzaa46 · 20/09/2025 20:46

@WhiteAmaryllis that sounds great about the discount and extra dose. I saw a video about forcing it past the resistance to get the extra dose so I’m pleased it worked.

@anon2022anon thanks for sharing your provider as well. Please do stay in the group as it’s great to share our experiences and journeys.

Today has been a really good day for me, I managed a workout, and today have felt really calm and positive in my head. I feel like my normal peri brain fog and anxiety have lifted, I hope this positive side effect continues 🥰

I forced my pen tonight and it went to number one.
Unfortunately the plunger wouldnt push down and i tried twice.
So no guarantee on it working .
I ended up using a needle and i think i messed it up 😭

Ihateslugs · 20/09/2025 21:18

maz99 · 20/09/2025 14:56

No... I mean BMR (basal metabolic rate)
This is the amount of calories our bodies need/use to just function (as if in a coma). So, eating less than this for a long period of time (months) will have an effect... the metabolism will think it's 'starving' and start prioritising certain functions over others (i.e. hair/muscle loss)

TDEE is BMR + activity calories

To calculate your Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE), first, calculate your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) using your age, gender, weight, and height.

Then multiply your BMR by an activity factor (e.g., 1.2 for sedentary, 1.55 for moderately active) to get your TDEE. Finally, to lose weight, you need to consume fewer calories than your TDEE, creating a calorie deficit.

Sedentary: Little to no exercise (1.2)
Lightly Active: Light exercise or sports 1-3 days/week (1.375)
Moderately Active: Moderate exercise or sports 3-5 days/week (1.55)
Very Active: Hard exercise or sports 6-7 days/week (1.725)
Super Active: Very hard exercise and a physical job or training twice a day (1.9)

Edited

Apologies for misunderstanding, I’ve never heard of basal metabolic rate. I used the calculator someone linked to further up to get the TDEE. It asked for age, gender, height, weight and level of exercise so I think it covered all the elements that you have mentioned?

It gave me two amounts that I could consume to lose weight so I’m aiming for the lower amount of calories ( 1400 ) to lose the greater amount now I’m on mounjaro. Looking at the last two days when I’ve been able to eat normally, I have ended up eating just slightly less which is fine.

Ahhh there I was fairly sure I'd checked in advance...Think I'll order the next one right now so if (when) it gets stuck tomorrow, I won't have too long to wait for another dose. Thanks for the heads up.

Oh no - how did you mess it up?! Wasted the medicine or it was stressful and fiddly?

Why did I feel...?

You do realise this is a public forum, where the whole purpose is about thoughts and opinions...??? Therefore, I can post a response to anything that is posted.

Again... if you don't want or can't handle a response to any of your comments then maybe you shouldn't be posting in a public forum.

You can have your opinion about how I have come across.

Just like I think you've come across as a claiming to be a 'victim' and childlike "...people liked my post". Where are we in school...?

Grow up.

I think i lost some/ all of the medicine , but obviously cant say for definite.
Second time i have used the needle for the golden dose.
First when i first started with 2.5.
I tried to do it slowly and didn't watch what i was doing and the plunger on the needle came out and i lost the dose , plus the needle bent .
This time i got the liquid in the syringe and the needle bent again, i did use it but not sure what happened as had liquid on my stomach and when i stood up there was liquid on the bathroom floor .
Now i have no idea if i got any or none .
I was fine when i used the 5mg pen and forced it and worked fine

anon2022anon · 20/09/2025 22:17

I do realise this is a public forum thanks. I realise this was a thread that was meant to be for going through similar journeys together, not a controversial, argumentative thread.
I also realise which one of us is coming across as childlike too.

As I said up there, anyway...

@maz99 Yes, used the golden dose, but still only 2.5mg! Not moving up until I feel it isn’t having the same effect anymore. I’m very wary of moving up too quickly.

Am i the only one having issues doing that dose with a syringe ?
Only time i have had a problem

@anon2022anonthanks for the recommendation and please do stay on the thread.

We’ve all shared our suppliers on here for information and we’re all capable
of assessing each one on their merits and our individual needs.

it’s a lovely supportive thread and a great place to share experience, especially if we’re not discussing with friends.

I feel like my loss is going to be small this week. Suppression has been low and I’ve had some work and family events which have required me to eat (pizza, birthday cake etc) even though I ate less than normal.

Only side effect is constipation as I don’t think I’ve drunk enough this week. I bought some prunes and I’m glad DH was away!

4th dose tomorrow.

Next weekend I’m away with good friends but I know they are very judgy about the pens so I haven’t told them. Hoping suppression will be low so they won’t notice.

Well done everyone. Onwards!

So, having had awful side effects after my first dose, I was hoping that my second dose (on Friday) would go smoother but last night proved me wrong! I was fine until I went to bed and then I started getting pains in my stomach and chronic wind when I laid down. It was really funny, as soon as I sat up, the burps just exploded, I was laughing out loud with some of the funny noises I was making! Luckily I live alone! They were not of the dreaded sulphurous ones that I was dreaded, just noisy.

But then the diarrhoea started again so after two trips to the bathroom in quick succession, I did take an Imodium in order to get some sleep. I woke up well refreshed this morning but then have just had another mad bathroom run! Fortunately I can stay home until Tuesday when I have to go out to a meeting but I’m frustrated that I’m affected so much by these’ injections.

I did use a local pharmacy to get them so I’m going to contact them tomorrow for some advise, I’m wary of taking Imodium every time so he might suggest something else. I certainly cannot free up three days every week to stay at home as I would get rather lonely with no company.

Let’s hope things get easier, has anyone else had similar side effects when first starting and after how many doses did they stop.

Ah well, another day of eating very little and only bland foods. I do wonder if it’s affected by what I am eating?

Oh no! It sounds like you're having a really rough time so far 😩 do you have a sensitive stomach usually? Unfortunately i'm not sure what is 'normal' with these injections as it's all so new. I have seen a lot of people talk of diarrhoea, often linked to what they've eaten. I doubt you've had a chance to eat anything though if its started so quickly! Maybe list what you've eaten and we can see if there's anything jumping out to us. Hope you're feeling better soon!

Week 1 done and a 3.75 loss so now 12s 6.75lb. 5.75lb to get to first target (which will drop me in overweight BMI category).

Was due jab 2 last night but didn’t do it for one reason and another. Nutracheck set my calories at 1200 - I’m still well within this and not feeling hungry. Don’t know if it’s the jab or placebo. Can I extend time between jabs to eke it out a bit longer?

Oh no, hopefully you still got a standard dose or at least nearly there.

Just tried it and the plunger still worked on this occasion. Was tempted to use all the remaining liquid, but have left some in the pen because I had no way of measuring the amount.

Yes, that's correct.

Sorry to hear you're struggling with it, @Catladyof7 - is there any chance you've bought the 'wrong' needles/syringes?

My friend who recommended MJ to me does her jabs at day 8 or 9. She’s stayed on 2.5 and is still losing weight.
My target calories is also 1200 and I have kept to this since my first dose on Weds, only 2lb down so far though. Hoping to stay on track for the rest of week one!
