Anybody else planning to start in September?

I’ve been procrastinating for months but decided to go for it despite the price increases. Waiting for my delivery from Medexpress and planning on 1st Sept start.

I’m struggling hugely with constipation. I’m definitely having suppression and my cravings are basically gone but the constipation is getting me down. Have lost 6lbs in 2.5 weeks (pretty much all the first week), despite eating little and exercising. I want to move up to 5mg after jab 4, but I’m scared it will only make the constipation worse

SoUncertain · 15/09/2025 21:49

@OneDayIWillLearn the medicine builds up slowly in your body as it hasn't fully finished breaking down before the next jab. This can mean you have greater effects, but also your body can get used to it, so some people might find that they have less suppression, as @outofofficeagain mentioned.

From what I've read, it seems to be a case of "it depends" on how your body reacts to it, which is frustrating!

Sleetingnow · 16/09/2025 08:39

I did my 2nd jab on Sunday and after the first week with no side effects lulling me into a false sense of security, I've felt super nauseous since then. Yesterday I was a bit silly and only ate 3 eggs and a bowl of yoghurt as I just wasn't hungry, but I don't think that helped my nausea / dizziness. Need to be more proactive on the eating front I think.

What's everyone thinking in terms of going up to 5 or sticking at 2.5?

And also has anyone found a protein powder that is tasteless in tea?!??

Georgelassosthemoon · 16/09/2025 08:48

I’m a bit constipated too. My regular morning dose of two coffees and Greek yogurt isn’t quite doing the trick it usually does. I have got some magnesium citrate but I’m working out doos this morning a fifteen minute walk from the loos so I’m a bit wary of taking it.

Same here! Much more suppression since second jab yesterday but also feeling more queasy. I wonder if it’s a bit chicken and egg though, as I felt much better after eating some dinner yesterday.

And yes I’m also in the stay on 2.5ml vs go up to 5ml dilemma! Currently thinking I’ll buy a 5ml pen so I have both options but I could certainly without spending the extra money so still weighing it up…

Chopsy123 · 16/09/2025 09:49

I’m planning on staying on 2.5mg for as long as possible.

I’ve read that increasing your doses too quickly is more likely to lead to medical problems such as gallstones and pancreatitis so I plan to take it slowly. If I’m losing an average of around 2lb a week without much effort, then that works for me.

I’m 60 though so wary of gaining any health issues at my age. I think when I was younger, I wouldn’t have worried about these things as much.

Totally agree about acquiring new health issues as we get older, at 66, that was one of my concerns about using WLIs. Hopefully though, losing weight will help with my arthritis so that will outweigh any minor niggles!

I am planning to stay on 2.5mg (hopefully) for months 2. But I have ordered a 5mg pen. It's more expensive upfront, but will last longer if I microdose 2.5mg from it so potentially works out quite a bit cheaper than ordering another 2.5mg pen. Also, I then have the option to go up to a stronger dose, maybe 3.75mg if I need it. I always keep my pen in the fridge and I have no concerns over using it longer than the recommended 30 days. The opportunity to save money by micro-dosing is too tempting, so it's a risk I'm more than willing to take.

How do you physically deliver the micro dose? I've been trying to work this out and drawing a blank so far.

I bought some extra pen needles so I can use more than 4 doses from a pen. The following link shows you how many clicks to use in order to deliver a lower dose from a pen. There are plenty of videos on YouTube to help too https://www.vrgrowth.co.uk/mounjaro-clicks

@MoreIcedLattePlease I tried the clear protein a 2nd time with more water (750ml) than the recommended amount (400ml) and it was much more manageable and I didn't get the 'sugar rush' afterwards.

@InaneRamblings if the 1.5lbs is your weekly loss, then that's a good loss... well done

@Annie1290 are you losing on 2.5mg? If yes, why do you want to move up to 5mg? A lot of people on MN that have successfully lost a lot of weight recommend to stay on the lower dose if it is working.

@Sleetingnow I bought two 2.5mg pens at the beginning because of the recommendation to stay low as possible for longer and the side effects most reported seem to be on 5mg😬I think I have some suppression as it takes me longer to feel hungry and I can only eat smaller portions than before, so I am happy to continue on 2.5mg

@wodantimbercoaster what needles are you using for microdosing? I was thinking of doing the same thing when my 2nd 2.5mg pen is finished by taking 3.75mg doses from 5mg pen. I'm also looking for needles to extract the golden dose.

Because my suppression is lessening, and I haven’t lost any weight since the first week. So it’s clear I should probably move up.

I ordered these pen needles after they were recommended on another thread. I haven't bought syringes/needles for 5th/golden dose yet as not sure where to buy them and also not 100% sure I'm going to do 5th doses yet. Something about having to use syringes to extract it is putting me off. It would definitely save a lot of money though! Although think I saw the manufacturer is changing the pens soon so there isn't a 5th dose? https://www.chemist-4-u.com/carepoint-pen-needles-31g-4mm-pack-of-100?ppc=1&ppc=1&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=17180985061&gclid=CjwKCAjwlaTGBhANEiwAoRgXBfYg41g38EaIvUapn2OiHqY2Mj0w_YdbPpkJAsDo-cRV0uECV6IsHBoClvsQAvD_BwE

Welcome! That's so nice that you can do it together. DH is concerned about his weight but I don't think he's at the point where he wants to act just yet. Maybe he's letting me be a guinea pig first!

Some people have side effects and others don't. It's been much better than expected for me so far, but I'm only one week 2.

SoUncertain · 16/09/2025 13:40

Don't order too many syringes @maz99 - apparently they're changing the pens so they won't have the extra dose much longer. Not changing the price of course

Thank you :) Feeling a bit light headed but I imagine it’s bc I have been working myself up about it. The injection is way easier than the self injectors I have for my chronic migraines. They hurt like hell but I barely felt the mj 😅

ladygin · 16/09/2025 16:51

So 5mg dose done today. Let’s see how it goes. Hoping for more suppression and no side effects!!!!!!

Jackrabbit22 · 16/09/2025 18:09

Forgot to post yesterday but did my 3rd jab.
SW 14 stone 11
CW 14 stone 7.
So a 2lb loss again this week. I'm not really feeling any suppression and still have constant food noise. I'll plod on though and think I'll probably move up to 5mg for my next pen and see how I go.

I was also very concerned about the pain from injecting but I honestly did not feel anything! Had I not checked that the number had reset to 0 and saw a tiny blob of liquid on the needle after I extracted it, I would have thought I had not done it correctly!

I think I’ve had some side effects, very bad diarrhea on day 2 but not feeling and suppression nor getting full when eating - but I don’t feel hungry either if I eat small meals.

Im just checking on how long you all count before taking the needle out, my pharmacist says 10 secs yet some videos and leaflets say only 5 secs?

I counted 10 seconds. Have a really dark purple bruise at injection site, but can't find where I injected needle phobic husband.

They might say 10 because people are notoriously bad at guessing the passage of seconds! Most people underestimate by a lot

Hi everyone, hoping to join. I took my first dose tonight. Starting at 16 stone 2. I’ve previously took MJ in April this year until July and lost a whopping 4 stone. Ive depressingly put on almost 1.5 stone since then. Reason I stopped was due to a hospital admission with thyroid storm. It was really scary and I needed some time to get my body back on track before I considered WLI again. So it’s been about 2 months since I last injected and my consultant has given me the go ahead. I’ve learnt a lot and I’m hoping to do it very differently this time.

Last time, I went up the doses every 4 weeks and had super high suppression to the point that I was barely getting through 500 calories a day, and I was nauseous and vomiting the first 4 days every week. I went off all foods as everything made me gag. I felt so unwell on it however I do think this is partly due to the thyroid condition. I couldn’t see it at the time I just assumed it was normal but after speaking with others, that’s not how it’s supposed to work. My plan this time is to not chase high suppression, stay on the lowest dose for me for as long as possible, and make sure I’m eating enough and if I get severe side effects again then I’ll stop. I want to take this opportunity to change my eating habits for good and I definitely want a slower weight loss.
