September 25 starters

Anybody else planning to start in September?

I’ve been procrastinating for months but decided to go for it despite the price increases. Waiting for my delivery from Medexpress and planning on 1st Sept start.

I've only told my partner and a friend that I dont see very often. That's it. I don't plan on telling anyone else either. I've been vocal about eating better and upping my steps/exercise so hopefully that will disguise my weight loss. I plan on starting a few more exercise classes soon so that will help too.

InaneRamblings · 14/09/2025 18:48

I've told everyone 😂 I take the stance that if someone judges me for it it's their issue not mine. It's my body, I'll lose weight how I see fit.

I probably will tell people if we get on the subject, I’m not ashamed of getting some help to lose weight - it’s pretty obvious when you look at me to know that I need to lose it! Most people know I need two knee replacements and understand that I need to lose weight first so will be very supportive.

MoreIcedLattePlease · 14/09/2025 19:28

I've told my husband and my boss at work - just in case I have some awful reaction post-jab day and someone has to tell medics what I'm taking! Can you tell I'm an over-thinker? 😂

@maz99 sorry to hear the clear protein hasn't been a complete success for you either. I'm going to try picking up some vanilla or unflavoured stuff to see if I can manage it better stirred through yoghurt or in recipes.

Suppression still high on 2.5mg, I did my last official jab from my first pen on the Thursday just gone. No side effects at all now, really, though I did feel a bit off Friday morning. Could be because I'm due on though! I lost 1.5lb last week, which I was disappointed in at the time, but I know it's fine and healthy - especially the week before period week!

It's been quite a busy/eat out heavy weekend for me. Been to the cinema - took a tub of fruit to eat. Didn't even finish it all!! Also ended up in Costa for lunch as caught out with DC at lunch time and only ate a prawn sandwich, which felt like a huge amount at the time. Wasn't even slightly tempted by cake. It was DC birthday last week so we went out to Harvester for dinner and I just ordered a couple of the small starter plates and only managed half of them. I have to admit, it is quite odd to just not want to eat.

I'm really conflicted about whether to have 2.5mg or 3.75 out of my 'golden' dose now, as the 2.5mg still seems to be having the same effect.

I have also noticed I'm hugely more productive and not procrastinating anywhere near as much, not sure if that's the MJ or just me being more 'on it' though.

SoUncertain · 14/09/2025 20:14

I feel similar to you, @outofofficeagain . I weigh every day because I don't mind seeing ups and downs each day, but if you see an "up" day as your one snapshot of the week you might feel rubbish until it is hopefully corrected the week after!

What ADHD benefits have you found, @UnimaginableWindBird ? I had read about that being a possibility, or potentially due to improved diet at least. I'm very excited for that possibility too! 😅

Spoke too soon! Warning, the following is not for a delicate stomach!

I got back from visiting my daughter at about 6pm after a horrendous drive on the M66/M60 through driving rain, spray and roadworks! House was very cold and I was tired so changed into joggers and went to lie on bed to catch up on my iPad. Was having a few burbs ( very ladylike ones!) but as I live alone, not a problem.

I fell asleep and woke up after just a few minutes realising I needed the toilet, not unusual as I have been drinking a lot of water. However, while rushing there, my stomach began to churn and erupt like a volcano and ………. well, I will leave it up to you what happened! Staggered back to bed with an accompanying chorus of burbs, farts and gurgles, only to be followed by two more eruptions in quick succession!

Luckily i had some Imodium instants so took two as directed then another one after the next two episodes but they have not kicked in yet and I don’t want to take anymore as the max dose is 6 in 24 hours. Hopefully my bowels and gut will be empty soon, although by the action inside me, I’m not convinced!

Thank goodness I was back home, not still driving on the motorway, I don’t know what I would have done then! So I guess it’s nil by mouth apart from water until morning.

I did know diarrhoea is a side effect of Mounjaro but I was not expecting such a violent reaction as usually I pride myself on my cast iron constitution! That’s after my first injection, so hopefully I was have the same reaction every time or I will have to cancel all social events for a while!

So 3lb loss this week. My weight hasn’t changed since Thursday though and I’m definitely hungrier as week progresses.

I’ve ordered the 5mg so now have both available to make a decision at the end of week 4.

jigsawmeup · 15/09/2025 07:53

I am supposed to be taking my 4th jab today but I am really not sure whether I want to continue. No weight loss this week so I am 6lb down overall, which is good but I'm now at the weight I always seem to get stuck at no matter what diet I do! I would say suppression is pretty much zero now, so I should be ordering a 5mg pen, but the jabs seem to make me so flat emotionally. I feel calmer but also like I can't muster up the motivation to do anything - almost like it's taken all the highs and lows away. I've also just started an extra period which is strange as I had my Hrt bleed only 2 weeks ago, so there is definitely something hormonal going on. Difficult to know what to do!

I haven't told anyone I'm on the jabs.

namechange0998776554799000 · 15/09/2025 07:59

@jigsawmeupdo you take any of the HRT as tablets?

Chopsy123 · 15/09/2025 08:03

@Ihateslugs I hope you’re feeling better today. It could be the side effects of the jab, something you ate or even a bug? You’ll have to see if the same thing happens again next weekend, but at least you can be more prepared.

@jigsawmeup Could the low mood be because you’re no longer getting a regular dopamine hit from sweet snacking? It’s definitely been the case with me so now I have a small square of chocolate in the evening and that seems to do the trick.

jigsawmeup · 15/09/2025 08:40

I was taking Oestrogel /Utrogestan but I know MJ can make oral medications less effective so have switched from taking orally, so in theory should be OK but might consider trying patches again.

outofofficeagain · 15/09/2025 08:49

I’m not sure whether I have low mood or just ‘stable mood’.

if anything I think I’m feeling angrier as I probably had a tendency to eat my rage. I’m taking this as a good thing.

OP posts:
namechange0998776554799000 · 15/09/2025 08:51

Yes that's what I was thinking of. I'm taking oral progesterone and plan to switch to patches (I haven't started MJ yet, plan to jab on Thursday). The 2 weeks I'm on progesterone make me feel quite flat, so the way you described the feeling made me wonder if it could be something hormonal

Possibly but I am not much of a snacker to be honest. I used to have quite a lot of 'get up and go' but now I can't be bothered to do anything so I am really having to push myself. I think the fact that I have only lost 2lb in two weeks isn't helping my motivation!

ladygin · 15/09/2025 09:03

@Ihateslugs this happened to me with being very sick the day after my first dose. And then never again (so far!). I think it was my bodies way of clearing me out maybe? But how horrid for you.

i am about to go up to 5mg. So it will be interesting if it happens again for me the.

let’s hope for you it’s a one time thing as well xxx

InaneRamblings · 15/09/2025 09:35

Well, I just weighed myself for W3D1. 1 1/2 lb down. Not gonna lie, bit disappointed - when i look at how much food I haven't eaten last week compared to what I usually would, it's a bit disheartening.

Also days 6 and 7 post Jab I've had nasty loose bowels which hasn't helped how I think about it all.

Bit down really

SerafinasGoose · 15/09/2025 10:03

@Ihateslugs - that sounds really miserable - my sympathies! Hope your stomach has settled and you're feeling better now.

@MoreIcedLattePlease - I didn't know a 3.75 dose was available (I'm on Wegovy). My online subscription generates my orders and then I alter these if I want something different from what they recommend. The next order puts me straight onto 5, but I'm thinking 3.75 might be a good 'halfway house'.

If you or anyone can advise on this, it would be gratefully received.

SerafinasGoose · 15/09/2025 10:09

Sorry - too late to edit. Wygovy isn't available at 3.75 - at least not from my supplier. So that answers that question: thought I'd share for anyone else considering this.

Ihateslugs · 15/09/2025 10:37

Thanks to those who responded, I am feeling much better today and had a normal nights sleep, interrupted only by four trips to the bathroom for a wee due to the amount of extra water I have been drinking!

I am not sure of the reason for the tummy upset, it’s the first time I’ve been so ill with a combination of diarrhoea and wind but it could have been a bug or food poisoning rather than the Mounjaro. I guess I’ll find out when I have my second jab next Friday. I plan to stay at home for three days afterwards just in case!

Im just putting my Tesco order together for tomorrows delivery so happily browsing Pinterest for low calorie and high protein meals. I have a tin of tuna ready to make some patties to have with salad and a tuna cheesy topping for a jacket potato. I fancy trying a recipe for chicken fried rice as well so along with a couple of salads, I only need a few more ideas. I do need to get in some healthy snacks now that the fresh summer fruits are finished so any ideas would be appreciated.

UnimaginableWindBird · 15/09/2025 10:57

Glad to hear you are on the mend, @Ihateslugs and sympathies for the grim night. I hope you feel much better from now on.

OneDayIWillLearn · 15/09/2025 11:22

Just done my second jab, a day earlier this week as I’m on the road/ away with work from tomorrow morning to Friday.

SW: 13 stone 10
CW: 13 stone 6 1/2
TW: 10 stone 7lbs

So a loss of 3.5 lbs vs when I weighed pre jab last week. But I think I was wearing less clothes today and weighed before rather than after lunch so not sure it is a real loss!

I was a lot less nervous but also less excited doing it this time. I haven’t really had side effects and I think I’ve had some suppression. But I had read posts from people who had jabbed for the first time and woke up with the food noise/ interest in food all gone, and I suppose I wondered if that might happen for me and it definitely hasn’t!

The usual things that derail me from diets - going away, other people cooking, nights out, being tired - have all cropped up this week and as usual I haven’t eaten very well in response and it has definitely needed willpower. So I am a bit disappointed about that. Of course I know it’s not a magic bullet but I suppose I’m hoping/ was hoping using MJ will make those trip wires a bit less trippy and so far that doesn’t seem to have kicked in!

Anyway, I’m trying to stay positive and I’m going to stick with it and follow the process. I will order a 5ml pen next and decide whether to use that or the second 2.5ml pen nearer the time.

Onwards!

OneDayIWillLearn · 15/09/2025 16:48

Oops spoke too soon about side effects, 5 hours post jab and I’ve got nausea which I didn’t have last week. Maybe I’ll get more suppression this week too then, does it work like that?!

outofofficeagain · 15/09/2025 18:04

I’m not sure @OneDayIWillLearn

I read that it stays in your system for up to 30 days so there must be a cumulative effect. But also I definitely have less suppression than I did in week one.

I had a bit of dizziness in week 2 but that has been it so far.

OP posts:
Ihateslugs · 15/09/2025 19:38

So far in week 1 I’ve had no feeling of suppression at all and actually felt more hungry that in previous weeks! I weighed myself this morning and have lost 3lbs since last week so my total loss since starting my diet/ healthy eating plan is 11/2 stone - def not due to the WLI though as I only jabbed on Friday!

Possibly a false reading due to my extreme diarrhea last night! I’ll weight myself in future on Friday which is going to be my jab day.

I was talking to my sister who is also on Mounjaro, almost at target weight, and we felt that some symptoms are possibly more psychological than linked to the meds. In that we are looking for things that previously we might have ignored or blamed on other things like a bad nights sleep, stress at work, a dodgy curry etc.

Does anyone else think this?
