Anybody else planning to start in September?

I’ve been procrastinating for months but decided to go for it despite the price increases. Waiting for my delivery from Medexpress and planning on 1st Sept start.

It really seems to affect people differently.

I'm actually feeling more hunger than before, but find it easier to ignore cravings and get a "full" signal before the hunger stops, so my meals are currently divided into 1st breakfast, second breakfast, 1st lunch, 2nd lunch, maybe a snack, dinner. I'm approaching 2nd lunchtime, when I can east the rest of my lunch thatI didn't have room for at lunchtime.

Stompythedinosaur · 08/09/2025 16:08

Hey everyone, can I jump in to join? Took my first 2.5 dose today!

I'd love to know if anyone has had trouble with side effects in their first week.

Chopsy123 · 08/09/2025 16:27

@Stompythedinosaur welcome aboard… 🚂.
My side effects are mostly tiredness and a bad headache and they start about 12 hrs after jabbing and last for about 2 days then I’m fine. But it’s only been 2 jabs so still early days.

@anon2022anon Do you mean you lost 11lbs by Saturday but now it’s showing an 8lb loss? I think the small fluctuations in weight is pretty normal as I used to bloat just before a period and afterwards, it was straight back down again. Even 8lbs is a good result for 2 weeks.

@UnimaginableWindBird Yes, I’m eating much smaller portions so trying to eat a bit more often than 3 meals a day and not having anything but water after 6pm as I suffer from reflux otherwise.

anon2022anon · 08/09/2025 16:34

@Chopsy123 yes, the scale was lower on Saturday morning than this morning. I'm not worrying about it, I knew the first run I'd had in a while would give me a bit of water retention, plus I haven't drank enough at the weekend, and I ate (half) a takeaway burger on Saturday night, so it all has an effect :)

Stompythedinosaur · 08/09/2025 17:46

Thanks @Chopsy123 ! That sounds pretty manageable!

SnowWhiteisMyFavourite · 07/09/2025 20:27

@MoreIcedLattePlease do you have enough normal needles to split the doses from 5mg pen into 3.75 or are you planning to buy syringes? I only got 4 needles with my first pen.

also has anyone yet to try to take the “golden dose”? EDIT just re-read your message @MoreIcedLattePlease and realised that you are planning to take the 5th dose 😄

Edited

Grin Yes I have syringes, I ordered from UKMedi. I also have a couple of spare pen needles with which to click count for lower doses from my next pen.

MoreIcedLattePlease · 08/09/2025 19:51

Congrats to all on your losses! I'm really quite hungry today, which feels horrible after not being that way for a while! Still in a deficit, but eaten way more than usual. Not sure it that's because I'm half way through week three on 2.5mg, or even because I'm due on at the end of this week/early next week?

I've also been for another swim today, still on 500m each time, want to work up to 1km per swim but I don't want to hurt my joints too much by doing too much too soon. I'm going again on Thursday, so may try 750m then, as I can't do Pilates this week because it clashes with DS2's birthday.

I'm definitely feeling fewer side effects now on w3 d5. I had a lot of burping and fatigue at the start, but I haven't noticed either this week. I hope that helps allay some people's fears!

Where is the best / cheapest place to buy WLI ?

Elliebearblues · 09/09/2025 08:32

Is anyone here on Wegovy? My pen is Tue to arrive today so I think I’ll just go for it tonight l.nervous but exited too x

Georgelassosthemoon · 09/09/2025 08:45

I am @Elliebearblues, on day 5. No side effects whatsoever so far.

UnimaginableWindBird · 09/09/2025 09:25

I jabbed on Friday night and was fine until now but had indigestion in the night and am feeling kind of queasy today. But well within the level of bearable side effects.

SoUncertain · 09/09/2025 09:29

Hi, please can I join you? I took my first MJ dose on Sunday afternoon, so today (Tuesday) is my second full day. I haven't really felt much difference yet, but I know it's very early days and a low dose!

I've made fairly small meal portions for myself and found that they were plenty, so I do think I might be feeling full more easily. I do still feel a bit hungry.

I posted previously debating whether to go with wegovy or MJ due to the price increase, but decided if I'm paying a lot of money for it then I should go for the one reported to be more effective and with fewer side effects.

I was standing in Asda yesterday pondering protein supplements. I didn't get enough protein yesterday from normal food, despite eating chicken, black beans, Greek yoghurt etc. Has anyone else thought about adding protein shakes or something?

outofofficeagain · 09/09/2025 10:02

I have a pain in my side today, and my shoulder blade - I'm convinced my pancreas is about to detonate.

I have been to the Dr before with similar and it was just the dog pulling on the lead, so it is almost certainly this again, but I'm not entirely sure it's doing much for my health anxiety.

W4 D1 today, and I lost 3lbs last week, so that's 10 lbs altogether in 3 weeks. I've just ordered another pen, and I'm going to stick with 2.5, which I'd like to do as long as possible. I'm still getting strong suppression, and even as it wear off towards the later part of the week, I still feel full quickly on small portions, and no temptation at all for unhealthy snacks.

About the golden dose... I'm undecided whether to use it. For those who've used it, how does it affect re-ordering the next pen? Do you order when prompted by your pharmacy so you have it ready for after the first month? Or do you delay ordering by an extra week? It's just that if we did the latter, I guess the pharmacy would class that as a break in your treatment? So do you just order as normal when prompted and then slowly become ahead of yourself?

Can you have a hot bath and do some gentle exercises, and see if it eases up?which if muscular, it should do a little.

outofofficeagain · 09/09/2025 10:15

I'm at work, but I will keep an eye on it. I'm sure it's just muscular, slept funny.

Hi... welcome...

I had the same thought re: Mounjaro vs Wegovy. Also, it was the possibility of less side effects that swayed me.

I've ordered collagen powder which has 12g of protein per serving.

I'm still debating whether to also buy some protein powder to make shakes. I never really like the taste of them. If anyone knows of a nice flavoured one - let me know.

I started MJ last Thursday. Yes, it's a struggle to hit protein goals! I had been pondering starting with Collagen anyway, so have taken the plunge and had my first dose of Nutrition Geeks collagen glow up powder in my coffee today. I think it's 12g of protein. It tasted fine. I also like Huel shakes and often have one for lunch when I'm at work. 400 calories and the black ones have 35g of protein in them I think.

UnimaginableWindBird · 09/09/2025 11:29

I tend to have huel for weekday breakfast which is high in protein anyway. And food combining meat and pulses is excellent for both protein and fibre.

I thought the price of Mounjaro is a lot more expensive and I wouldn’t be able to afford it as the doses go up so ordered Wegovy. I use a protein powder Vanilla flavour and have it on top of my coffee each morning so it like a vanilla flavoured coffee so delicious. I use Fat Cow Brand from TeamRH. I did try My Protein but it wasn’t as nice. I’m starting my 1st Wegovy this morning x

If it's any comfort, I'm a bit the same way with health anxiety (which improved dramatically after I got treatment for it).

But I did previously have DVT and two dangerous lung emboli, following an entire week's pre-and post-surgery immobility; ie there was a definite cause for it and it wasn't unprovoked. I know the risks with these meds and balanced them against the benefits. Just being overweight already puts me in a higher risk category for DVT.

That's not to say that I don't feel a mild panic every time there's a twinge in my lower left calf.

TaffyandTeenyTaffy · 09/09/2025 12:31

I use clear whey protein from.myprotein... its more like a sweet squash. Mojito flavour is my favourite. They do a selection pack of different flavours.
