Anybody else planning to start in September?

I’ve been procrastinating for months but decided to go for it despite the price increases. Waiting for my delivery from Medexpress and planning on 1st Sept start.

I've just tried to eat some of the soft apricots i bought from Asda as they're supposed to be good fibre to help constipation. They're awful 🤢 Wish I wasn't so fussy! Texture is a big thing for me and they just tasted and felt weird, probably not helped by me chewing it for ages 😅🫠

Oh God, this is me too. I am awful with most fruit and veg because of texture. Planning on lots of soup through the winter as I’m fine with that.
could struggle with fruit because I only like mostly summer fruit 🙈

I also feel nauseous today (day after second jab) as I did last week, but was fine the rest of the week in terms of negative symptoms. Debating whether to stay on 2.5mg or go to 5mg as suggested because I don’t want the side effects - well, nausea to worsen. I had HG in both my pregnancies and now get very fearful of being sick 🙄

😅 that's me with fruit too. My partner always tries to get me to eat the fruit he's eating and I can't. I'll only eat bananas and grapes if i'm in the right mood 😅 soups are a good way of disguising everything, nice and smooth so no detecting anything 😅 i'm looking forward to making a big pan of stew when it gets colder!

I've got another 2.5 pen in the fridge as I ordered before the price increase. I'll see how i go but I strongly think i may jump to 5 for the one after

You literally described me 😂😂 most fruit and veg I think I have to be in the right mood for it 😂🙈 though actually this week it’s definitely been more than usual, so that’s good

MoreIcedLattePlease · 07/09/2025 19:58

I'm due my last 2.5mg jab on Thursday, and then to move up to 5mg after that. I've found side effects to be very minimal, thankfully, and suppression still seems OK at the moment? Will see how it feels later in the week though. I think I'm probably going to extract the 5th dose from this pen and then go to 3.75 from my 5mg pen for a week or two before going up to 5. I'm conscious that I can't afford to be out of action at work because of a 'choice' medication!

Had such a busy weekend this time round! I feel like I could do with another 2 days to get over these two! DS1 and I went back to college shopping today, and I ended up eating both breakfast and lunch out - felt dangerous as this was my first unplanned eating day since starting. Luckily I think I did OK - had an ikea breakfast, which was harmless enough and surprisingly low calorie. Then half a pizza for lunch, which was also fairly deficit friendly. I was completely full after that pizza though, a whole new thing for me! Brought the other half home for DH and I to share for work lunch tomorrow.

I hope everybody has been OK this weekend?

JustPickleRick · 07/09/2025 20:03

Going up to 3.75 seems to be a nice middle ground. I can imagine the side effects from the jump will be intense 😬 I don't think i will be lucky enough to avoid them forever so i've planned it that my first 5 jab will be on the friday that I finish for half term 😅 if i'm sick as a dog for the week then atleast i'll be at home with my own toilet 🫠

I love pizza the next day, something about it being cold makes it taste even better 😂 well done for stopping! I don't think i've met that challenge yet, my meals are all pretty small but satisfying me. I haven't had to eat out anywhere yet but i'm someone who hates to waste a bite! We'll see 😅

SnowWhiteisMyFavourite · 07/09/2025 20:27

@MoreIcedLattePlease do you have enough normal needles to split the doses from 5mg pen into 3.75 or are you planning to buy syringes? I only got 4 needles with my first pen.

also has anyone yet to try to take the “golden dose”? EDIT just re-read your message @MoreIcedLattePlease and realised that you are planning to take the 5th dose 😄

Someone on another mounjaro thread said these needles are the right ones to use with the pens. I'm going to buy them, then get 5mg for my 2nd month and use it either stick to 2.5mg and get 2 months, or maybe 3.75mg for 6ish weeks.

Just catching up with everyone...

I'm the same @ladygin... love percy pigs as well as haribo super mix / star mix... I haven't even considered any sweets because I know it will derail me... I must admit since starting MJ I've only had a very mild urge to buy any sweets... normally I would be thinking about it all the time. Would this be suppression?

Well done on your weight loss so far @Chopsy123 @SerafinasGoose @JustPickleRick @SnowWhiteisMyFavourite @spidermum18

@SnowWhiteisMyFavourite I currently take
Pumpkin Seed Oil (omega 6) to block DHT as I already suffer from thinning hair, and omega 3 Fish Oil to balance the omega 6.
D3+K2 - GP advised to continue to keep levels topped up after being very low last year
I was looking at collagen powder to help increase protein intake - so ordered NutritionGeeks Glow Up bundle which includes Biotin & D3+K2 (currently 30% off)

I felt the same @Annie1290 with my first week's loss of 2.6lbs... but it's better than nothing, considering I only lost 4.5lbs in the 6 weeks prior to starting MJ.

@Sleetingnow I used chatgpt to create a list of high protein snacks with nutritionl information. I also asked it to create a 14 day menu excluding foods I can't eat or like

I've used Walk Away The Pounds on YouTube for low impact exercise

@JustPickleRick I also ordered two 2.5mg pens and contemplating whether to go up to 5mg...

My update (week 2 day 3):
No side effects so far. I've been active this* *week, did 3 workouts this week (WATP, Aqua Aerobics, Power Pump) and gardening today... I am now feeling it...!
I've not really meeting my calorie target - averaging 1300 when I should be at 1800. For this reason, I probably won't move up to 3.75 or 5 after my first pen. I need to figure out how to improve this first.

ladygin · 08/09/2025 07:51

Hello All. How do you do 3.75?

my update is that I haven’t lost this week but haven’t gained and as I am not eating enough calories or protein I guess that’s a win.

I need to figure out the food but it’s so hard as everything that is suitable I don’t like!

TaffyandTeenyTaffy · 08/09/2025 08:10

One week in and I have lost 4lb. 😊 No real side effects to speak of other than a slightly dodgy tummy, which has been manageable. I have found it very easy to stick to my diet plan .which I think is more suppression than willpower. I've eaten smaller portions and not thought about snacking.

The weekend was trickier as I had a meal out on Friday (tapas... ate about half of what I ordered and didn't share/try anything of anyone else's and had a cocktail and water); Saturday was at hospital with my mum, but ate a small amount and didn't fall off the waggon which i could have done quite easily.... and would have previously. Sunday ... I ate a lot more, (including bread which i have been trying to avoid and a Sunday roast) so I guess the suppression was probably wearing off ready for next jab today?

I"ve done a healthy shop and so I'm geared up for this week. Not sure yet what to do next month. I probably need to decide this week as I am with Asda and I know they have had issues/delays recently ( my health issues will make it tricky to change between providers)

Hope everyone else is doing ok. Good luck to the new starters this week x

Chopsy123 · 08/09/2025 08:21

@wodantimbercoaster

These are the 6mm needles that they sold me with my pen. I dont feel it when I inject so they’re the right size.

@TaffyandTeenyTaffy that’s absolutely amazing, I’m waiting for MedExpress to dispatch my order it was approved yesterday after ordering Saturday. Hope they send it just as fast. I did want to start Fri evening if possible x

outofofficeagain · 08/09/2025 08:26

Jab 2 done today. I’ve lost 1kg this week which I’m pleased about because I’ve been hungry since Wednesday and don’t feel like my portions have been much smaller. Definitely have stopped when full though and less desire to snack, eat dessert, biscuits.

I drank a lot on Friday night which I didn’t mean to (should have stuck to original plan of driving).

No side effects though and generally my body is feeling better.

Has everyone read the thread about the lady who’s stopped Mounjaro and been maintaining for 6 months now?

https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/weight-loss-injections/5405511-lost-nearly-half-my-body-weight-and-ive-maintained-for-nearly-6-months?reply=146988262

What concerns me from reading that thread and some other anecdotal accounts elsewhere is that some people think that moving up the doses too fast has caused other medical problems to occur. 🤔

I am worried about pancreatitis and kidney issues so I’m planning to stay on 2.5mg for as long as possible. Obviously I can’t predict if my body will get used to this dose and it stops being as effective, but I’m happy to take it slowly.

Hi all I started mounjaro at 99kg and finished at 52kg which puts my BMI at 21. My HBA1C has gone from high 40s to 28. I was quite unlucky with si...

Hi all

Week 3 day 1 and weigh in day for me and I'm down 2lb. I weigh myself daily and saw a lower number on the scale a couple of days ago, but I also rejoined the gym yesterday and did some strength training, so I hope it's just water weight/ a temporary blip as I am really concerned about not losing muscle mass.

I feel like I have had some very mild supression in wanting to eat slightly less compared to last week when I had none. It has taken away any desire to drink alcohol though, which is great. However, one side effect I have noticed is I am feeling a bit flat, so I'm really having to push myself to go far a walk and listen to music etc to boost my mood. I've seen a couple of posts on this board from other people who have experienced similar effects, so it's something I'm keeping an eye on.

I am going to see how this next week goes before I decide if I definitely want to order another pen. If I do, I'll be getting a 5mg and counting clicks using golden doses etc to get my money's worth. Good luck to everyone for the week ahead!

OneDayIWillLearn · 08/09/2025 09:38

just seen that Oushk have finally approved my order and it is due to be delivered tomorrow. So hopefully I’ll be starting tomorrow!

  1. Find your pen & required dose in one of the coloured columns, then look at the number of clicks or ml for needle required

Can I use a 2.5mg pen to give a 5mg dose though? 1 dose in each thigh? 🤷🏻‍♀️

only because I’ve ordered a second 2.5 pen and think I should have got a 5.

Week 2 day 1. Just jabbed again, all fine.
SW 14 stone 11
CW 14 stone 9
So a 2lb loss for my first week. Was hoping for more but it's a start!

maz99 · 08/09/2025 12:32

@Jackrabbit22 well done for your first week!

I think you could @outofofficeagain - I've seen a few people post in the Facebook group that I'm in that they've done it with no issues. Also, I've just seen this post where they are injecting 2.5mg every 5 days (as the 1st one starts to wear off)

anon2022anon · 08/09/2025 14:17

Just done jab number 3 here. On Saturday I saw a 10/11b loss on the scales, but after a run (first in 2.5 months) and the weekend I'm at an 8lb loss today. Feeling a little nauseous this afternoon- not like I'm actually going to be sick, but if I was hungry I'd be using this as an excuse to be eating toast and carbs to settle my stomach.
I'm away from Friday for 4 nights, so I won't be doing it next Monday, but on Tuesday night instead. I need to take some time out to make a little plan for myself, as I've just been winging it for a couple of weeks, and really, If I'm spending this amount of money, I need to get the most out of it. A friend is on it and losing really quickly (3 stone in 3 months) because she is just rolling with the appetite suppression, and the temptation is there to do that, to get it off as quickly as possible, and off the jabs, but in reality I know thats just an invitation for weight to creep on again afterwards.

Although I've seen a great loss so far, I'm not seeing any difference body wise. Last year, I managed to lose this amount and a bit more, over about 3 months, so I was maybe 4lb lighter than I am now, and my body looked a lot slimmer than it does right now. Strange.

@outofofficeagain if you're not sure whether to up your dose or use the 2.5mg as is, why not up the dosage a little and go to 3mg to start with, then 3.75 or similar? I know that unless my appetite changes drastically, I will be going for 3.75mg out of the 5mg I have, to try and take it a little steadier and hopefully get all the benefit I can out of each level.

anon2022anon · 08/09/2025 14:34

Oh, and food wise, I'm seeing suppression in the amount I can eat, but I'm not seeing a drastic reduction in cravings. I still want to eat the biscuits and crisps, but I'm not hungry. So I've still being giving in some with something sweet each day, though nowhere near as much as usual. I've also been hungry first thing in a morning, and last thing at night, so I think that's my body processing the difference in calories the day before, telling me I've maybe not eaten enough.
