September 25 starters

Anybody else planning to start in September?

I’ve been procrastinating for months but decided to go for it despite the price increases. Waiting for my delivery from Medexpress and planning on 1st Sept start.

@Whichwitchwould I had really immediate and good suppression for the first two weeks. I guess maybe as my body gets used to it, it works a little less? Everyone is very different it seems

Ah it definitely seems to be different for everyone. I am on week 2 and good suppression so far so was just curious how this can change. Thanks for sharing! 🌸

Hi 👋
I jabbed for the first time on Monday.
I'm 5'11", 15 st 6lb, aiming for 13 stone practically, but 12 stone ideally 😆
I'm not sure about the effect it's having so far? I am feeling slightly nauseous, but I'm still hungry - lots of stomach rumbling, but I don't seem to be eating as much at meals, and I'm definitely not snacking as much.
I guess I thought I'd feel more different if that makes sense??

I'm only weighing myself on jab days, so interested to see if I've lost anything on Monday as it doesn't feel like I have!

Does anyone else feel like this or is it not working very well for me??

UnimaginableWindBird · 06/09/2025 10:14

I jabbed last night.

I don't feel any different physically, although I've only just eaten my first meal since my first dose, so that might hit once I've actually started digesting.

I think I'm actually feeling hunger slightly more than usual - I'm ND and don't always notice hunger and thirst but was aware that I was ready for breakfast in a way that I wouldn't normally be.

Mentally, I feel weirdly calm around food. It's like the difference between going food shopping when hungry compared to after a good meal - I can think about food I enjoy, and even want to eat it, but there's no sense of urgency. It's as though my body can feel hunger, but my brain is convinced that I'm currently well-fed. It's a very pleasant feeling, but one that I only noticed if I stop to think about it.

Massively overweight but apprehensive of using jabs because
Current cost
Increased cost
Side effects
Injecting myself. I don't like needles
Best place to buy. Is the cheapest the best
Waiting for Dr to approve
Husband comments. He is patronising at the best of times
Sticking to using the jabs
When best to start. Going on holiday soon
Effectiveness of jab even when i have read the reviews

I think we all had very similar worries before we took the plunge, so you’re not alone in that. Do you have a decent GP you can talk to?

In my case, I had a really good appointment with my GP who was very supportive and she even suggested where to buy it from in Northern Ireland as it’s still much cheaper there than down here in the Republic. After the price rise, it’s £169 from NI plus delivery compared to €289 locally. The GP wrote me out a prescription and I sent it off. She always been really good and pro-active with any health concerns we have.

The posters on these threads are also very helpful and supportive if you’re not able to chat to friends in RL about it.

Annie1290 · 06/09/2025 10:39

Weigh in/jab day and I’ve lost 3 lbs. I’m a little disappointed 🙈 I’ve eaten relatively well, but I’ll head back to the gym this week.

I know what you mean about the calm feeling around food. I no longer think ‘omg I’m so hungry I must eat NOW’, my stomach hasn’t rumbled, I’ve missed the odd meal by not being hungry.

I definitely have made better choices around food though. I would have two cans of full fat Coke a night, and a big bar of chocolate over two nights. Haven’t touched chocolate and one can of Coke all week. Snacking on fruit now instead of biscuits. So hopefully that should make a difference over time too.

I have similar concerns but have decided to go for it! I’m using a local pharmacist as I prefer the idea of chatting to a real person because I have so many other health issues. I go for my initial consultation on Wednesday, I have about 6 stone to lose so I’m sure he will prescribe the injections. I’ll then go for a weigh in every four weeks as I collect my new prescription. I think it will be more expensive than using an online pharmacy but I know it’s the best option for me.

I have been eating healthily for a few months now and already lost over a stone. I’ve been thinking about meals as we go into the winter months, I’ve been enjoying all kinds of salads with high protein things ( chicken, lean steak, tuna, salmon, eggs etc) but will need warm dishes when it gets cold. I’m looking at high protein casseroles, stir fries, soups and filled jacket potatoes but need to find some easy snacks once soft fruits go out of season.

World’s most frustrated person here!! Still not got anything to jab with. MedExpress still haven’t clinically reviewed my order (which I placed on Monday) and Oushk TODAY came back and told me I don’t qualify based on my BMI. Totally bamboozled by this as I’ve checked and double checked it and my BMI is definitely over 30. I did a weight verification call with them over a week ago and the pharmacist said everything was fine.

I do also have a heart condition and I found evidence of that from an old life insurance application so I’ve sent them that too. Starting to lose the will though 🙄

I'm sorry to hear this. Nothing so frustrating as when you've finally taken the decision to take control of your health and you have to face setbacks like this.

I use Numan pharmacy. They were recommended to me by a friend who recently lost 4 st on Mounjaro. Too early to say what I think but they appear thorough, have assigned me a personal coach, and they also asked for a blood sample to analyse during my first week (this was easy to draw via a simple finger prick). Their approval and delivery also took mere days.

I hope you'll be able to get off the starting block soon!

OneDayIWillLearn · 06/09/2025 16:40

@SerafinasGoose thanks for the recommendation. Yeah it’s that feeling of having made a decision but not being able to go through with it.

And in the meantime I’m ironically trying not to lose any weight so I can go through the approval process with someone else if I need to! Maybe I should have just said about the heart condition to start with but I thought it might just complicate things (and I don’t know if all heart conditions qualify you) given my BMI is over 30 anyway.

Hoping one of them will come through with something this week and I can get on the bandwagon though 🤞

NotAdultingToday · 07/09/2025 09:59

Morning all i have taken the plunge and have injected!
After confusing myself with how to set up the pen and where to inject and injecting myself then deciding i did not like that place and choosing a new place to inject, then boobs getting in the way while trying to avoid a stretch mark 😂, i have managed to inject a dose i think!
It is really simple i just am a bit special with instructions and had half an ear on the kids fighting which is distraction enough 😂

CW: 20st
GW: 14st

Though i have set 14st as my first goal, id like to reach 11/12st but seeing how i go!

I hope everyone is ok!

Well done, thats a fantastic result for the first week!
I've started taking Seven Seas Women tablets. You get 2 tablets, 1 omega 3 and 1 vitamins, biotin is included which is hopefully going to help!

Thanks, hoping that second week is as successful 🤞

I went to Holland & Barrett yesterday and bought their own brand Biotin hair complex tablets, let see how that works over the next few months. Also upgraded my shampoo to Plantur39. I’m perimenopausal so no idea what’s causing which side effects 😂

ladygin · 05/09/2025 13:56

So week three for me and suppression is wearing off so I guess I need the 5mg. My pharmacist said that’s where the magic happens.
I am managing to manage craving better than before but still succumbing - Percy pigs are my downfall!

bit cross with myself but reminding myself it’s a marathon not a sprint!

Are you planning to go straight up to 5mg? I’ve been reading the other threads and several people are saying that the side effects have been quite strong (but some people have none). I’m debating if I should order 5mg pen next but use it as 3.75mg to increase the dose only marginally.

And I feel your pain re Percy Pigs. I had to collect my parcel from M&S and closed my eyes to avoid the sweets aisle!

Sleetingnow · 07/09/2025 11:22

Hello! I've just done my first jab. I've been putting it off for a week but finally plucked up the courage (and of course it was fine!). I have 5 stone to lose. Would like to lose 6 though.

How is everyone doing with diet? I am worried about gastro issues so wondered if anyone had any tips or tricks?! Protein recommendations?! Thank you!

Sleetingnow · 07/09/2025 11:30

Also would love to hear anyone's easy workout vid recommendations! I suck at exercise but want to get stronger as well as lose the weight...

spidermum18 · 07/09/2025 11:34

Im due to do my second jab tonight but weighed myself this morning and i’m 4 lbs down. Happy with that :)

Good luck! I started a week ago and have very similar current/goal weights. I haven’t even thought as far ahead as below the 13st mark which for me is still overweight bucket. But taking this journey as one step at the time.

CW 18st 9lbs

NotAdultingToday · 07/09/2025 13:36

@SnowWhiteisMyFavourite im the same as you anything under 14st seems miles away so im trying with small goals so im not put off which is what has happened in the past

WhiteAmaryllis · 07/09/2025 13:39

Normally jab on a Sunday morning when I have the house to myself. But I haven't told any of my family and they've all been here today due to the weather and feel somewhat nervous about being caught and having to own up and talk about it before I wanted to. Also worrying about when I'll otherwise get a chance, so I can stay on track.

Chopsy123 · 07/09/2025 13:51

I’m struggling the last few days with acid reflux and burping. I try and eat a bit more in the daytime in small portions and only a light meal no later then 7pm. I’m definitely eating much less overall.

I just ate half a chicken salad sandwich for my lunch but actually picked out the chicken and lettuce and left the bread because I didn’t fancy it.

I’ve been taking H&B brand physillium husk tablets and a Solgar digestive enzyme tablet with my meals.

Anyone else suffering similarly? Any advice?

TheSacredCow · 07/09/2025 14:10

I was planning to do my first jab today, but I have now got two really important work days coming up, where I must be at my best and cannot risk being ill or under the weather. I'm going to have to delay starting until 16th September, annoying to say the least.

Georgelassosthemoon · 07/09/2025 15:54

3 days in and not feeling any different at all! I’m beginning to wonder if I did the jab correctly.

Elliebearblues · 07/09/2025 16:12

@outofofficeagain I just literally ordered of MedExpress yesterday and they’ve prescribed it for me, just got to wait for them to send it now. Scared but also excited x

Don't worry, I think a lot of people (myself included!) have been the same. I even posted after my first jab wondering if I did it right too 😅 I'm on w2 d2 and i'm still side effect free apart from a bit of constipation 😅 only difference was i noticed no rumbling tummy. Could still eat all my meals.

This sounds very like me too. I'm on Week 2 day 3.

Whichwitchwould · 07/09/2025 17:17

Im nearing the end of week 2 (tues evening jab day) and I only have side effects (mild nausea) on the day after injecting so I wouldnt worry too much if youre lucky enough to evade symptoms. 2.5mg is a low dose anyway.

I havent lost as much this week. The scales have been a bit up and down so think i will be somewhere around 1.5-2lbs down this week. Don't mind that at all as its a bit less outing that im on mounjaro if its slow and consistent and also a healthy rate of loss so hopefully less risk of nastier side effects.
