Anybody else planning to start in September?

I’ve been procrastinating for months but decided to go for it despite the price increases. Waiting for my delivery from Medexpress and planning on 1st Sept start.

@BPrincess I completely agree with @Chopsy123 - I cannot feel the needle at all! It makes it so much easier. I inject into my thighs, because stomach would be a bit harder for me I think (it's squidgier). Watch the video on the app, you can pause it to go through step by step if you need. It's so helpful!

I weighed this morning and had 'only' lost 2lb, which felt disappointing, even though I know that's a good, healthy loss! I might try again tomorrow, just in case I drop another 3 overnight...
I've done 2 500m swims, kept to calories and met my step goal every day this week, so I will have a tantrum if that isn't making me fitter and healthier.

Week three begins today, so I've just done my third jab about half an hour ago. I am experiencing suppression, I'm considering myself very lucky with that! No desire to eat anything sweet/chocolatey/unhealthy either. I've definitely noticed the suppression has lasted through the week this time round too, whereas I was noticeably hungrier last Thursday. I struggled to eat today. That could just be back to work stress though!!

Glad to see some more people joining us. Are many of you on Wegovy instead of Mounjaro?

Hi, and good luck!
Try not to worry. I am a couple of weeks ahead of you, and I have put into practice the tips for avoiding nausea, and they really do work for me! Avoiding fatty, greasy, high carb/sugar things works for me. Eating 3 small meals even if you don't feel like it helps too. Peppermint oil capsules have been great. Honestly though, I only feel a very slight amount of nausea for the first 24 hours after the jab, and then nothing. Nothing close to vomiting. Even after my very first jab, I woke up a few hours after taking it with quite strong waves of nausea, but I got up and took a rennie, and it helped massively. The good side effects for me have far, far outweighed the (tiny) bad ones.

Thanks @Somethingsnapped i will definitely follow that advice and your positivity is very encouraging ☺️
I have just had my jab and apart from feeling a bit panicky, I have settled down with a film and hope to get a good nights sleep. I think I have been really worried the last few days, so pretty tired.

No turning back now! Aiming to loose 3st 💪🏼

Hurrah, week 1 done and 5lbs down. 👍

SW: 14st 12lbs
CW: 14st 7lbs
GW: 10st

Well done. That’s a great start.

Woke up hungry today, and I definitely feel like I could eat more- but I'm wondering if it's sugar craving/ tiredness related. Jab 2 was Monday so I wouldn't be expecting it to be wearing off already.. I've also had a little bit of retching this morning, that was annoying.

BPrincess · 05/09/2025 09:55

I jabbed! No longer a Mounjaro virgin! (And it was fine)

So...
SW: 17.11
GW: 13.0 - though tbh I'll be embracing every pound

I'm in my mid 50s, always overweight, but since my mum died (5 years ago) I've just let it all go really.
Enough now. Want to be healthy for my teen daughter, set a good example, get fitter, do more, ache less, have more energy and, yes, look better too

Here's to that and everyone else starting this month! We can do this!

outofofficeagain · 05/09/2025 10:06

Congrats @BPrincess- a great start.

I am in a similar situation to you. We’ve got this!

I did my first jab last night. I wasn't nervous at all, but then when it came to actually doing it I did feel quite nervous! However, I then saw how minuscule the needle was and I was fine. Went to bed feeling fine, woke up feeling fine and still feel fine. Bit of a headache, but no way of knowing if it's Mounjaro related, could just be my usual slightly stressed with my job headache! I haven't eaten anything yet as I don't eat breakfast anyway. I would however usually be feeling a bit peckish by now (11:30am), but I don't. I might wait until 2pm to have lunch and see if I get any hunger pangs by then. Interesting, as I didn't expect it to kick in yet. We'll see!

UnimaginableWindBird · 05/09/2025 13:18

I'll be taking my first dose tonight and I'm having a bit of a wobble about what I'm going to eat - making sure I get enough protein and fibre and nutrients in general without upsetting my stomach or eating past fullness.

I expect realistically, l'll learn as I go, but it feels like a big unknown, which is scary.

Chopsy123 · 05/09/2025 13:33

@UnimaginableWindBird Good luck for tonight. 🤞

I found the food shopping/eating tricky as I’m not necessarily eating what I used to eat or even eating at the same time of day. I just don’t fancy it! 🤷🏻‍♀️

It’s easier now for me to eat a bigger food portion early afternoon and then eat a small meal in the early evening.

I usually cook dinner for myself and my teen DS (DH sorts himself out) but since last week, I’ve been cooking DS his meal but only picking at food myself. I have upped my fruit intake and I’m not filling up with rice or pasta either.

Has anyone else noticed that their eating habits have already changed?

ladygin · 05/09/2025 13:56

So week three for me and suppression is wearing off so I guess I need the 5mg. My pharmacist said that’s where the magic happens.
I am managing to manage craving better than before but still succumbing - Percy pigs are my downfall!

bit cross with myself but reminding myself it’s a marathon not a sprint!

SerafinasGoose · 05/09/2025 14:22

Weighing-in and shooting-up day today! (I make it sound as though I'm going to be exterminated) ...

SW 15 st
CW 14 st 7 lbs
GW 11 st 7 lbs

That's a 5 lb loss this week, following 2 lbs the week before when I started the calorie tracking app in anticipation of the shots.I'm not going to get too excited about this. A fairly rapid loss is usual at first as body lets go of water retention.

I don't think it's advisable or healthy to expect to continue at this pace. I'm aiming at a slower but steady loss and to break the terrible habits that led me to become this size in the first place. On reflection, the 1350 calories calulated by my tracking app might be a little too fierce if I want to achieve this goal. So I'm thinking of increasing this - or at least making sure I go a little over each day.

Anything under 1000 calories a day and I won't have a hope in hell of keeping off any weight I lose! Onward and upwards to stabbing time at 6 pm ...

Georgelassosthemoon · 05/09/2025 16:28

28 hours in I feel absolutely no different. Have had kefir, fruit and granola for breakfast and coffee. A tomato sandwich and an apple for lunch and a nectarine. Lots of tea. Pretty much what I always eat.

Great start! Well done :) i'm taking my 2nd jab tonight but will weigh in the morning as I want to have done a full 7 days of healthy eating. Today is the first day ive been thinking more about food, particularly this evening but I did say no to a mcdonalds whilst my family all ate one 🥳

JustPickleRick · 05/09/2025 20:51

Just did my second dose, I found it uncomfortable tonight, the longer the needle was in. Didn't hurt to begin with but I felt it coming out 😅 probably the pressure of pressing the twisty bit down 🫠 fingers crossed for another relatively side effect free week 🤞

Ah thats interesting. How was the suppression weeks 1 and 2 for you? Was it low or has there just been a big change this week?

Hope youre not too cross with yourself. It will take some time to undo old habits

MoreIcedLattePlease · 05/09/2025 21:28

@Chopsy123 and @SerafinasGoose congratulations on successful weeks!

@ladygin - you're absolutely right, it is a marathon (a bloody mega marathon for some of us)! Keep at it, we are very early days!

I did a pilates class this evening - my gym kit already feels like it fits more comfortably! So I wonder if I've lost more in terms of inches/cm than lbs this week... Bloody hard work though, I'm shattered now! Gym again tomorrow morning, for a PT session so I can devise a routine that will be easy to do alone, but also not let my hypermobile joints go walkabout!

Hope everybody has had a lovely Friday evening, and has a great weekend. Any interesting plans?

ladygin · 05/09/2025 22:02

@Whichwitchwould I had really immediate and good suppression for the first two weeks. I guess maybe as my body gets used to it, it works a little less? Everyone is very different it seems

Georgeismydog · 06/09/2025 06:22

Massively overweight but apprehensive of using jabs because
Current cost
Increased cost
Side effects
Injecting myself. I don't like needles
Best place to buy. Is the cheapest the best
Waiting for Dr to approve
Husband comments. He is patronising at the best of times
Sticking to using the jabs
When best to start. Going on holiday soon
Effectiveness of jab even when i have read the reviews

JustPickleRick · 06/09/2025 08:39

Did my first weigh in this morning and i'm quite shocked!

SW: 12 st 9
CW: 11 st 10

I'm 13 lbs down 🤯 BUT I do remember that my starting weight was taken in the evening and wearing clothes so there's a difference from me taking it in the morning today. Still amazed to see i've lost something though 🥳

SnowWhiteisMyFavourite · 06/09/2025 08:47

W2D1 update from me, I’ve lost 8lbs since last Saturday! I’m expecting this to slow down, most likely lot of this was water weight.

SW 19st 3lbs
CW 18st 9lbs

I’ve decided to split my goals into two:
GW1 15st (my weight before first pregnancy)
GW2 13st (will put me into “overweight bucket”)

I haven’t had any side effects apart from quite bad headache at the beginning of the week. Not sure if it was Mounjaro though or work related as I had quite stressful week at work. But that’s gone.

I’m trying to stick with 1500-1700 cals per day and I’ve started detailed meal tracking. Portion sizes have got smaller and I’m trying to eat 3 meals + 2 snacks (healthy) each day. So far so good 😄 Food noise keeps coming back so need to use will power too!

Is anyone taking any supplements? I’m very worried about the potential hair loss, I have very fine hair to start with. I’ve been taking collagen over a year now and will continue, I was just wondering if there is anything else.

I have desk job and I’ve been very inactive lately so next week’s plan is to increase exercise! And this is where I need all of my willpower 🫣😄

😱

😅 I know, that was my reaction.
My TDEE is 1255 and I've been hitting just under 1200 calories each day. I've been drinking 3 litres each day. Hitting 92g of protein each day which was recommended for my height. Eating 3 meals a day too so I've not starved myself. Ive had no aversions to food at all, managed to eat everything and enjoyed my food still! Biggest impact has probably been my stomach not rumbling between meals so I've not been snacking on chocolate, cakes and crisps. I've also gone back to work this week so gone from sitting on the sofa to walking up and down the school corridors and on my feet.

Well done, thats a fantastic result for the first week!
I've started taking Seven Seas Women tablets. You get 2 tablets, 1 omega 3 and 1 vitamins, biotin is included which is hopefully going to help!
