Mounjaro/Wegovy with >5 stone/30kg to lose - thread 10!

MooBaggage · 22/08/2025 15:21

New thread for anyone with more than 5 stone/30kg to lose. All welcome, whichever part of the journey you are on.

We have newbies and those who have got to their targets and lots of us in between at various stages, all supporting each other along the way.

Kiwis and milled flaxseed are still the order of the day, along with water, posh scales, weight loss charts (thank you Infosec!), Vinted and even more water...

We're coping with the Mounjaro palavers and hoping that somehow, we will all still be able to carry on with this amazing journey which is working so well for most of us.

No discount codes please - there is a separate thread for that.

I weighed myself just before bed last night. Got up this morning, had a huge wee and weighed myself again as an experiment. The scales went up 1.8lbs. Overnight.

How?!?!

WTF!

Is this on Renpho scales?
I find I can weigh, step off, weigh again and be 2lb lighter in the space of 30 seconds. I can only weigh once and I delete all the others from my history.

Meant to post yesterday, as hit the magical 5 stone loss yesterday morning, weighing in at 10.13.0. Absolutely over the moon but also strangely found it really emotional too as it's probably been about quarter of a century (makes a girl think! 😉) since my weight started with a 10. Such an emotional roller coaster of a journey this has been!

Also, as 5 stone equals 70 pounds, as a nod to another mn username that I often see on the boards, think we ought to name the thread "70 is a target not a limit"! 😂

Onwards & downwards!

Slowrunning · 27/08/2025 14:11

Same here @MooBaggage and @NotsosunnyShropshire stepped on the scales this morning to a gain of over 1lb since yesterday. I track everything and was definitely in deficit yesterday so I have no idea where it came from.
I’m a daily weighed so used to fluctuations but it’s still very frustrating 😫

Seahorsesplendour · 27/08/2025 15:37

@gimmemounjaro & @MooBaggage thank you for responding! Really helpful and appreciate you taking the time and your suggestions!

having manic day at work so will need to mull it all over tonight I just need to make a decision as the uncertainty is taking up much too much head space this week!!

it’s reassuring you both found a level that suits!!

every time I’ve gone up it’s been great for 4-6 weeks then just gets less effective. Maybe the next increase will be the one!!

yes still loosing on 7.5 but not as consistent as it has been up until now so I think I probably do need to increase!

i’m kicking myself as decided I needed to do this back in Nov but didn’t pluck up the courage until May! But heho!! Nothing can do about it! At least I’m 3 stone in I really feel for people who have only just started!! 😢

@VelociraptorsVelociRapping good luck with the wegovy! It’ll be great to hear how you get on! I think it’s probably what I’ll do once I use up what I have!

Seahorsesplendour · 27/08/2025 15:38

Anyone else on wegovy already on this thread?

MooBaggage · 27/08/2025 16:40

@mince3point14159265 Congratulations!!! 😍

What an achievment - 5 blooming stone! And hitting 10 stone something - just brilliant and I completely understand why you're emotional - this losing weight thing brings all the enotions to the forefront - I can go from elation to despair via frustration in a matter of minutes....😊

I'm so pleased for you - onwards and downwards is working and is wonderful!

I think MJ gave me a spark, and 3 days into my 2 weeks off, the spark is fading. I can feel myself becoming agoraphobic again, and really sad. Surely it can’t have come out of my system so quickly?
I’m wondering whether to do 2 weeks off, or just take my dose on Sunday. I will obvs ask my surgeon, but so far they have given no guidance on when I can start it back up again. I’m also concerned because I had such tight control of my diabetes, and I don’t want to lose that. Sorry I’m moaning

The Family Chemist has released their new prices. They are directly negotiated with Eli Lilly

QueenOfHiraeth · 27/08/2025 18:35

@alwaysscared You can never say anything definite as bodies are all different but the half life of Mounjaro is about 5 days and, i think I read that, when you have been on it a while, it takes around 3 weeks to clear from the system so seems faster than expected. You have a lot to think about at the moment so do you think it might be anxiety affecting things?

Timetofindme · 27/08/2025 18:45

@alwaysscared mine didn't give me any guidance on when to go back on post op. However all the painkillers and GA made me really constipated so I didn't want to take MJ with that going on. Apparently the reason pre op is it shows your digestion and they want your stomach empty for the GA which it probably wouldn't be with MJ (given their usual don't eat after this time). So from that perspective there should be no reason to stick off it post op unless you're having other side effects like I did. Could you send an email and ask?

alwaysscared · 27/08/2025 19:06

I’m going to ask, but think I will just go straight back on.
Another thing, I forgot to stop my laxatives that I take 2x daily (drinks from the doctor) and have just had an accident 😳, so I’m either poorly, or the MJ is out of my system enough to stop the constant constipation I have had from the start!

Darlinghag · 27/08/2025 21:47

Well, despite the DPD tracking last night, my order has yet to be dispatched - this has only happened once, so until pens are in my hand, I won’t be content my order has been fully sorted! Fingers crossed it comes tomorrow!

Asda also have released prices. £278 for 10mg, rising to £298 for 15mg. So; not the cheapest but in line with a lot of the main providers.

I’ll probably go back to ordering one 10mg pen at a time, which I can take 6 doses out of if I use golden, unfortunately, while 15mg is my cheapest option (more than 8 doses!) it would leave too big a gap between ordering. Hopefully things will come more flexible in the future!

nailslikeknives · 27/08/2025 23:47

Only just realise we have a new thread! Doh!

UnimaginableWindBird · 28/08/2025 06:04

Hello! I managed to pick absolutely the worst time to start taking Mounjaro, but I've ordered a pen and am planning on taking my first dose on Friday of next week. I need to lose pretty much exactly 30kg to get my BMI under 25. It's very inspiring to read posts from those of you who have been here for a long time.

Good luck! I have lost almost 33kg since November 24.

Lots of hints and tips across the boards. There will be a September 2025 thread to join as well and an August 2025.

Seahorsesplendour · 28/08/2025 07:19

@UnimaginableWindBird welcome to the fray! And good luck with your first jab tomorrow!! I remember the nerves well! I started in May but 3 st down with another 3-4 to go it’s totally worth it!

im just gutted I have to change plans due to the price increase!

anyway thanks again to those who shared their advice the other day and I have decided I’m going to increase my dose a little then to 10 when needed and just use & be grateful for the pens I have and try to get the best out of them!

then I will swap to wegovy for whatever I have left.

before I started did have nhs referral to start it but waiting list was huge I’m still on that so have a vague hope of an appointment appearing while I still meet the criteria!! 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

Seahorsesplendour · 28/08/2025 07:19

Hope everyone has a good day!!

35kg down for me since last October. However I still have a long way to go- I had a starting BMI of 45 and now have a BMI of 33. I'm absolutely in it for thr long haul.

MooBaggage · 28/08/2025 09:15

Hello @UnimaginableWindBird ! Welcome and let's hope the price palavers settle down very soon...

I've been on MJ since January 2025 and have lost a tantalising 29.55kg - so very nearly 30kg - hopefully in the next couple of weeks..! I lost steadily in the first few months and these days tend to have a stall week or two, followed by a whoosh of 2 - 3lbs, which kind of works out the same but is slightly disconcerting when I feel like I've stalled for a year (not that I'm dramatic or anything) 🙄

Like @alltablenochairs I've got a long way to go - my BMI is currently 33.1 so will be here for at least another 12 months to get to under BMI 25 😃

GiveMeWordGames · 28/08/2025 09:31

Hello, @UnimaginableWindBird and welcome! I've been on MJ since late March and have lost 3st 6.25lbs (about 22kg) since then. My BMI has gone from middle of obese category to the top of overweight. I''ve got another 2 stone to go to get to the top of my goal range and then we'll see!

It's been incredible so far, price shenanigans notwithstanding, and I hope it works for you. It's a lovely group on this thread, supportive and fun.

InfoSecInTheCity · 28/08/2025 10:15

Well chemist have informed me they can5 get hold of any 10mg pens so waiting to see if the GP will prescribe 2x 5mg pens so I can double dose because they have some of them.

Goingincirclesstill · 28/08/2025 10:21

Was reading something earlier that the company have stopped all supply to UK until 1st September....they don't want pharmacies ordering extra before the prices go up! Meanwhile I am still waiting for my normal pen from normal supplier....stock in 7.5 now showing as gone but was there when I ordered so will be interesting to see what happens when they finally approve it...

InfoSecInTheCity · 28/08/2025 11:28

Just hoping I can get something to see me through this blip otherwise I’ll have to go back onto insulin which I’d like to avoid doing

ANutAsBigAsABoulder · 28/08/2025 12:47

Amazing loss @mince3point14159265, five stone gone is brilliant.

Welcome to the thread @UnimaginableWindBird and good luck with starting MJ. It’s been a revelation for me. I started in March and today have reached 23.9kg lost, which is 20% of my starting weight. I still have around 30kg left to lose, but that feels a lot more achievable than over 50kg!

ANutAsBigAsABoulder · 28/08/2025 12:50

My latest non-scale victory (NSV) is that my towels now cover me properly when I tuck them round me after a shower. Nobody sees me, but I know.

Also, my tops are now so much longer as they’re not stretched as wide. Starting to hang off me though in many cases. I’m trying not to buy too many new clothes until I get closer to smaller sizes.
